Calamari, hamachi special, beef tartare, and fresh oysters

Absolutely fantastic!!!! They did a beautiful job on transforming the old Mac's bar into such a beautiful restaurant! Food was spectacular! So was the service! We will definitely be back! We shared the beef tartare, calamari, hamachi and oysters. I had the duck special and my husband had steak. All perfectly cooked!

We were in town for our son's graduation at SSU. The ceremony was in the morning so we were looking for a nice brunch lunch spot on our way out of town after. This is such a cool space in the menu look like something we all would enjoy.. it was exactly what I was looking for . Not knowing what time we'd be done or even get out of the parking lot, I didn't make a reservation. We showed up at noon and had no issue getting seated . The menu is fun .... You honestly can't go wrong with any of the selections. I had the oyster po boy made with fresh local oysters. Soooo good. And the shoestring fries were perfection. Everyone in our party enjoyed their selections. Two had burgers and one the chicken sandwich. Mmmm

I came here during happy hour, and it was definitely worth it. The happy hour offerings were great, and I really enjoyed the overall ambiance. It had a cozy, speakeasy vibe that made the experience feel a bit more special. There is outdoor seating available, but I chose to sit inside since it was very warm that day. I tried the anchovy toast, which was unique and flavorful, but definitely not for everyone (you really have to love anchovies to fully enjoy it.) The oysters were fresh and delicious, easily one of the highlights of the meal. I wasn't a big fan of the potato skins. The confit filling had a texture that reminded me a bit of refried beans, which wasn't quite what I expected. On the other hand, the fried Brussel sprouts were fantastic with the right amount if crisp, comforting, and packed with flavor. I could have easily ordered a second round and made a meal out of them. I also really enjoyed the skewers. They were well-seasoned and satisfying. Overall, a great spot for happy hour with a fun atmosphere and some standout dishes.

We tried everything on Happy Hour! Bang bang shrimp, Mac n Cheese, and beef skewers for the win

We came here to celebrate our lucky 13th wedding anniversary, and I chose it specifically for the extensive happy hour menu. The options were phenomenal--not just cheap bar bites, but true small plates that felt like mini meals. I ordered everything food-wise off the happy hour menu and was impressed across the board. My cocktail was delicious flavor-wise, but the ice ratio was off. There was way too much ice, and I only got about four real sips out of it. Still, the quality itself was great. The staff really made the experience. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming--they treated me like a regular and were happy to answer all my questions about the cocktails and menu. Their warmth made the night feel extra special. Even during the week, many tables were reserved, which speaks to how popular this place is. We will absolutely be back, especially for happy hour. As someone who prefers eating earlier and loves small plates, this place is perfect for me.

Fine dining in historic casual atmosphere. The food and vibe are excellent. I mean that.

After a few visits between Nov 2025- Jan 2026, where it felt the food quality took a nose dive so I took a hiatus. I was told to go back in as they recently changed their menu for Spring (as they do every quarter to reflect the seasonal, fresh vegetables in harvest). So without hesitation, I made my way back in (because this is a spot I do want to succeed and we need in Penngrove). Majority of the menu are new items, which very much reflected spring - light, bright, and delectable. Happy to taste the quality is back to how it was when they first opened and looking forward to coming back in soon. My current favorites are the Flappers Delight cocktail, ceviche, and Spring Chicken Thighs.

Went here for NYE dinner and it was amazing! We started with the Duck gravy poutine which was great, im always on the give me more duck side of things so I wouldn't mind more meat in it. We had the special which was Prime Rib and also the Crispy Chicken Thigh. The prime rib was actually one of the best we have ever had, usually its very fatty and not great but this one was perfect. They are great for brunch too, just waiting for them to add Shrimp and Grits and a meal on the brunch and regular menu! Our server was AMAZING such a ray of sunshine.

I was in Petaluma for a night visiting my son who was there on business for a week. I came to stay with him and take him out to a nice dinner. When I saw 4.8 stars for The Grove on Yelp, I had to try it. A couple of the reviews mentioned Shrimp and Grits and that sold me. I knew I wanted that before I had even seen the menu. The location purports to be a speak easy, so a little incognito, if you're driving by on the road you might miss it. You need to walk down a driveway and enter through a door at the back rather than from the street side. Once inside, the place is lively, not a quiet place by any means. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Service was quick and friendly I ordered the Whiskey Business from the cocktail menu, it was yummy. For dinner, my son ordered the twin lobster tail from the nightly specials, I had the shrimps and grits appetizer as my main. Everything was delicious and service was top notch If I'm ever in the area again I would not hesitate to make this a definite stop.

My goodness this was insanely delicious. We came here to celebrate a birthday, and the interior was warm and cozy. Our server was lovely, and so accommodating and friendly. We ordered the duck poutine, the duck potatoes, the shrimp cocktail, and the broccolini. The duck gravy on the poutine was probably one of the most delicious things I've ever had in my entire life. I'll be thinking about this meal for a long time and I can't wait to come back.

Went during happy hour and we were happy with the appetizers. Very good and different. Nice atmosphere and service was excellent.

Such a nice surprise to discover in Penngrove. We were greeted warmly as we walked in the door. Our table had a window view. Our waiter could not of been kinder and WOW the food! We also got complimentary mimosas for Mother's Day. I had the Croque Madame. It was so delicious. My dining partners had the Sweet Potato waffle and fried chicken, the eggs, bacon and potatoes and she especially loved the fresh scrambled eggs. I recommend The Grove so highly for brunch and looking forward to coming back for dinner. A great Brunch experience.

We wanted to go see the Penngrove tractor parade (fun) and needed a dinner spot to follow. Grove had great reviews and an interesting menu. Hostess and waitstaff were WONDERFUL, welcoming and helpful. The bar is a bit noisy but the atmosphere is congenial and cozy.. steak frites were delicious with tender steak and crispy shoestring fries. Duck poutine fries were disappointing in both portion size and quantity of duck. Delicata squash soup was very rich and tasty. Shrimp and grits were very tasty but once again portion sizes were a bit small. The big disappointment for the evening was the root vegetable salad which was a green salad with a few shaved root veggies scattered around. Overall, great service, decent food quality, fair value.

Service from Tanisha was outstanding! I went for the first time with my three neighbors, who are regulars. Everything was delicious. I was blown away by the creatively constructed, high-end menu at an affordable price! I ordered the Sole Dore which was delicious, but it wasn't a true Dore, which should be pan-fried in an egg batter. The sole was seared on its own & a little too crispy for such a delicate fish but I still enjoyed the mashed potatoes and lightly creamed spinach. It was tasty nonetheless! My fellow diners ordered the tiger shrimp spring rolls, chicken skewers, Fritto Misto, creamed corn, & fish tacos, some from the amazing happy hour menu & all were fantastic! Two bottles of Matanzas Sauv Blanc split between us which we enjoyed immensely. I can't say enough about Tanisha, she was incredible. I can't wait to go back. Please support this hidden gem in Pennegrove!!

Uhhh yes... absolutely. I'm always down for a community spot that feels like home, and after the other two places we had already stopped at, I was thinking, "Alright... this one better be special." Spoiler alert: it was. We walked in, ordered our drinks, and with the weather being way too good to waste indoors, we posted up outside on the patio like two people who clearly had nowhere better to be. And that's when this place really started to show its character. Let me tell you... this place was exactly what I hoped it would be. Locals rolling in, saying hi to each other, swapping stories, laughing like they've all known each other since cassette tapes and landlines were still a thing. Hearing people talk about folks who've been coming here for 20+ years honestly felt like I had accidentally wandered into a 90's sitcom--but in the best possible way. Just good people, good laughs, and that rare kind of atmosphere you can't manufacture. It had that "everybody knows somebody" energy... and somehow even as a first-timer, it still felt welcoming instead of cliquey. Now let's talk drinks. We ordered tequila doubles and I'm already mentally preparing for younger-me behavior... and my friend hits me with, "We don't shoot tequila, we sip on it." Excuse me? Sip it? I looked at her like she had just introduced tequila to me for the first time in my life. I was like, "Whaaaaat?" because somebody really should've told younger me that years ago. Would've saved me a few poor life decisions and at least two questionable mornings. But honestly? She was right. Sipping tequila on that patio, soaking up the weather, listening to the local stories and laughter around us... it just fit. That's the kind of moment this place gives you. It slows you down in the best way. The vibe here is relaxed, unpretentious, and full of personality. No fake polish, no trying too hard--just a true local gem doing exactly what it's supposed to do. In all, Penngrove Pub isn't just a place to grab a drink. It's a front-row seat to community. It's storytelling with tequila. It's the kind of spot that reminds you local places still matter. And honestly... I'd go back just to sip tequila properly this time.

We visited the distillery next to Hotel Petaluma around 8 pm with a group of six (family, including my dad and uncle). Most of the patrons inside were white, and our waitress was an older white woman. From the moment we walked in, there was visible irritation about our party size. When my uncle picked up a chair so we could sit together, we were met with looks and attitude instead of any help. The overall vibe was cold and dismissive, and it made us feel unwelcome and judged. As a Mexican family in a room where nearly everyone else was white, the way we were treated felt targeted and uncomfortable. Whether intentional or not, the service came across as biased and unwelcoming. It's just really unfortunate, because this is a place we've supported for years. The brioche bun was so very good. The burger was cooked perfectly and too much for me to eat. I brought half home. I also order a salad that came in a bowl. The dressing was so bland. I asked for more dressing and it didn't help. Some of the lettuce was the size of my hand and nearly impossible to cut in a bowl. The leaves were also brown. I pointed that out to the waitress and got a quick "sorry". Not sure if the info was conveyed to the kitchen. There were peels of cucumber and carrot. Again too long to eat gracefully and hard to cut because of the bowl. I looked around and realized everyone who ordered salad, also requested salt and pepper. Shoulda thought of that. My friend order the fried chicken sandwich, again on brioche and it was great. I ate some of her fries (mental note, order fries, not salad) they were so good and definitely abundant. The hibiscus iced tea was stellar. The restaurant has a full bar, many TV's and a very large outdoor seating area on a small lake. The inside is spacious and well decorated. I will probably go again if I'm in the area. Just no salad!
