Seared has really become a place we look forward to enjoying meals together. They have improved their menu (and their staff) and their charming rustic dining area set up through the years and the food and cocktails are literally phenomenal and their servers are kind and engaging and attentive. Their happy hour is amazing and they currently offer $4 off their regularly $13 cocktails (the cucumber martini is delightful)! You have to try the Kung pao shrimp happy hour dish. You might order three more and never have dinner, but if you do and it's in season, you definitely want the halibut and of course their filet mignon is always perfection. GO! We were visiting Petaluma for a show at the Mystic during Sonoma County Restaurant Week and liked the Seared menu. We arrived at 5:40 pm when happy hour was in full swing so got a margarita for $9 each and glass of good Pinot Noir house red for $7.5/glass. The waiter was kind enough to honor the happy hour wine price after 6pm with our dinner reservation. The downstairs was packed with a great atmosphere though pretty loud. We were seated upstairs for dinner which was an equally quaint room with brick walls, but much quieter. We both ordered the restaurant week menu at $60 for three courses. We started with the porcini mushroom soup which was delicious and not too heavy. Husband had flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare. I had the shrimp and grits which were cooked nicely, though grits a little sparse and thin. We finished with vanilla tres leches cake which was light (I had mistakenly thought it was vanilla ice cream). Service was friendly and efficient even in a crowded dinner setting. Our reservation was at 6pm but by 7pm, it had emptied out a bit so it seemed people ate dinner after happy hour. Overall, would recommend if you find yourself in Petaluma as the main street is very lively with many restaurants and bars. read more

Although I have heard of it on occasion over the last few years I had zero idea it had been here for 12 years. So we had a reservation and they tried to put us in probably the worst table in the place In a dark corner so I asked if we could sit elsewhere. They offered a high top in bar and couldn't have sat somewhere better!! Happy hour was going on so we ordered a wedge, calamari, French dip from that menu and the filet from entrees. Don't be deceived, this place is pretty big. They have a downstairs and upstairs with plenty of space for many people to dine. The staff is very friendly and consistently checked in to make sure we had our drinks filled and we were doing okay. The menu has so many delicious options it was hard to choose! This was long over due since moving to Sonoma County two years ago. Seared is situated in downtown Petaluma just off of East Washington Blvd, which can be accessed from either direction of the US-101. The downtown area is live on Friday's and the weekends with tons of amenities nearby within walking distance. The indoor area of Seared is medium sized and I believe they have an outdoor patio area as well. The service was relatively fast, drinks were good and the food was on point. Me and my wife ordered the prawns over fried rice, Parmesan truffle fries, lobster mac n cheese and the halibut. I had a manhattan and she had mixed cocktail (can't remember the name). Both drinks were great. My favorite part was probably the prawns and lobster mac.Next time I'll try the steak. The Caesar salad was delicious. Unfortunately the meal was less impressive after that. We ordered the $45 lobster and shrimp paparadelle and the order came to our table in a tiny portion, obviously with only shrimp. It took a while to call our waiter over, after several minutes, to point out the complete absence of lobster. Then after several more minutes he confirmed it was a kitchen error, made excuses for the chef and then verbally apologized. We were hungry. After another long wait we got what seemed like an even smaller portion with a tiny piece of lobster. There was no discount on our meal or offer for a complementary drink or dessert for the inconvenience. Honestly, for a $45 pasta the flavor and delay was definitely not worth it. There are enough drink options for everyone and enough food options to call it dinner and have a "well balanced" meal. When we went the place was packed with no reservations but we did find a spot at the bar. A hidden surprise we would soon find out. We started with cocktails since we're at the bar and the bartender was Superman. We ordered a 14oz wagyu ribeye steak and we decided the split the meal as well as a Cesar salad. When it arrive they had given us 2 full salad servings instead of splitting one and the steaks were superbly cook medium and very juicy and tender. I came to this restaurant for a end of the year work event. There were about 18 of us, which the restaurant accommodated very well. Our server was very attentive and quickly tended to our orders. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese and a seared burger both of which were good. A lot of my coworkers ordered steaks which they very much enjoyed. I would say a steak is probably the way to go when coming to seared because that is what they are known for and what they do very well. As for the dessert, I tried the crème brûlée, which was good, but felt a little more like pudding. The restaurant had a nice vibe to it and felt appropriate for this work event. I would definitely come back in the future and try other menu items. I also really enjoyed their happy hour because it was great prices. I took my Fiance here for his birthday. This was both of our first time eating here. We were not impressed at all. The staff were friendly, but the food was mediocre at best. We waited over an hour for our food and we only ordered a burger and a wedge salad. When it finally came out the bun for the burger was soggy and too big for the meat patty. We ordered the lobster mac n cheese for our appetizer and it was super runny. The place was pretty busy, but it was Saturday night. Maybe they were under staffed. Unfortunately not the best experience today. The hostess greeted us then proceeded to ask me if I minded a bar top with high chairs or the low table. I said I didn't mind the high chairs, but she said she was going to give us the low table but needed it back by 6:15. She completely disregarded what I said I wanted. When we got to our section there were three tables with high chairs available, so we could have sat at either of those without restrictions. I have never heard of placing a time limit on a table when you are just walking into a restaurant, even before you sit down to eat. Not a good idea or customer service. read more

We had a reservation and were taken upstairs which made the vibe or ambiance a little meh because more of the energy was downstairs in the main area, but it ended up being a really great time overall. I ordered the surf n turf with shrimp instead of scallops and filet mignon. The person I was with got the Wagyu ribeye. We both demolished our meals because it was so delicious. We decided to visit this place based on a recommendation from our hotel. While the food was undeniably delicious, we felt that the pricing didn't quite match the value. However, we only sampled items from the happy hour menu. The bar and restaurant itself is nicely decorated creating a cozy atmosphere. The wait staff was super helpful and gave us great recommendations for the top 3 orders, Prime Rib Dip, Steak Skewers, and the Kung Pao Prawns. We only ordered the Prime Rib Dip and Steak Skewers. The steak skewers were our favorite! They were cooked to perfection and paired nicely wiht the papaya salad. The Prime Rib Dip and the essential jus was excellent. The $9.75 price was high for what you receive. The drinks were just okay. My wife ordered the cucumber martini and it was too sweet for her. Family members were treating my wife and I for our birthdays and they chose Seared, as they recently discovered and enjoyed their last visit. Who am I to turn down a meal with family? I have no been prior, but I have heard very good things about Seared. So I was anticipating a fun evening. First off, I was worried Seared would be too stuffy. I was relieved to see most of the diners in shorts and nice shirts (maybe some in t-shirts and ballcaps...perfect in my book!). I did check out the menu prior to arriving and noticed it was very heavy on seafood. I am that one guy who has a complete aversion to anything coming from the sea, but I can usually find something to eat that appeals to my taste. We did bring our own wine and they had no problem opening the bottles for a nominal corkage fee. Upon looking at the menu, I noticed some of the items listed online weren't on the menu for that evening. Interesting, there went the one things I was looking forward to. Oh well. I did start with the Heirloom tomato salad. More greens than tomatoes, but it was fine. I then got the filet mignon with creamed spinach and potatoes. I loved the creamed spinach, can't go wrong with that. Potatoes were a little bland. The steak was so-so. I've definitely had better. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal, so I may have been the outlier. The place was nice. We sat upstairs were it seemed a little more casual. Service was great. Came here for the prime rib and was pleasantly surprised that they have happy hour menu on bar bites and drinks on a Saturday (330p-6p), so we ordered drinks and bar bites, such as their mini wedge salad and fried calamari. Their happy hour menu is happening. I would definitely come back here just for that. Additionally their prime rib, which we opted for the 20 oz., was superbly tender and savory! It was delightful with every bite. They do need to get new ones or sharpen them. It was a bit on the dull side to be able to cut the prime rib smoothly. Their creamed spinach was spot on as well as their mashed potatoes. I had a splendid time here and it was for my husband's birthday with our baby.
