    Sticky Toffee Cake
    Steven C.

Really enjoyed this place. Another great restaurant in Petaluma. Ordered the short rib for an entree, corn and calamari for an appetizer, and sticky toffee cake for dessert. My Dad and sister ordered steaks. I tried their steaks and they were tasty. Im not a steak person so if I like it...well it must be good. The staff was friendly. I would definitely come back!

We were visiting Petaluma for a show at the Mystic during Sonoma County Restaurant Week and liked the Seared menu. We arrived at 5:40 pm when happy hour was in full swing so got a margarita for $9 each and glass of good Pinot Noir house red for $7.5/glass. The waiter was kind enough to honor the happy hour wine price after 6pm with our dinner reservation. The downstairs was packed with a great atmosphere though pretty loud. We were seated upstairs for dinner which was an equally quaint room with brick walls, but much quieter. We both ordered the restaurant week menu at $60 for three courses. We started with the porcini mushroom soup which was delicious and not too heavy. Husband had flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare. I had the shrimp and grits which were cooked nicely, though grits a little sparse and thin. We finished with vanilla tres leches cake which was light (I had mistakenly thought it was vanilla ice cream). Service was friendly and efficient even in a crowded dinner setting. Our reservation was at 6pm but by 7pm, it had emptied out a bit so it seemed people ate dinner after happy hour. Overall, would recommend if you find yourself in Petaluma as the main street is very lively with many restaurants and bars.

Truly excellent service! My grandma was struggling with reading the menu and our server was so kind and patient and made sure she got exactly what she wanted. My family really appreciated his kindness. The food was also delicious. They have an excellent happy hour (we were able to catch the end of it at the start of our dinner reservation). We will definitely be back!

It was our anniversary and wanted to try something we haven't had before and came across a review on this place. Although I have heard of it on occasion over the last few years I had zero idea it had been here for 12 years. So we had a reservation and they tried to put us in probably the worst table in the place In a dark corner so I asked if we could sit elsewhere. They offered a high top in bar and couldn't have sat somewhere better!! Happy hour was going on so we ordered a wedge, calamari, French dip from that menu and the filet from entrees. The food was fabulous and hh portions were large!! The steak was by no means the buttery most tender I've had but the flavors on that plate were exceptional!! Service was also great!

Don't be deceived, this place is pretty big. They have a downstairs and upstairs with plenty of space for many people to dine. The staff is very friendly and consistently checked in to make sure we had our drinks filled and we were doing okay. The menu has so many delicious options it was hard to choose! The meat is cooked perfectly and the scallops melt in your mouth. Very good and rich flavors. I will definitely come back again.

This was long over due since moving to Sonoma County two years ago. Seared is situated in downtown Petaluma just off of East Washington Blvd, which can be accessed from either direction of the US-101. The downtown area is live on Friday's and the weekends with tons of amenities nearby within walking distance. The indoor area of Seared is medium sized and I believe they have an outdoor patio area as well. The service was relatively fast, drinks were good and the food was on point. Me and my wife ordered the prawns over fried rice, Parmesan truffle fries, lobster mac n cheese and the halibut. I had a manhattan and she had mixed cocktail (can't remember the name). Both drinks were great. My favorite part was probably the prawns and lobster mac.Next time I'll try the steak. Overall, seared is a great place to have dinner or to simply take someone out for a date night.

Excellent food, service and great ambiance! Loved it! Heraldo was so good and all his recommendations were spot on! He might as well been the chef! He spoke about the menu from a place of deep knowledge and was very personable. Thank you Heraldo for your recommendations! Highly recommend!

There's a reason Seared is my favorite restaurant in town -- and their Sonoma County Restaurant Week menu absolutely delivered. We already make it a point to do happy hour there at least once a month, but this weekend reminded me why they're consistently at the top of my list. We started with the beef skewers -- deeply flavorful, perfectly cooked, and the kind of appetizer that sets the tone immediately. The salad was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced -- light but not boring. For entrées, we went with the shrimp and grits in shrimp brodo and the prime flat iron steak with garlic mashed potatoes -- and both were phenomenal. The shrimp and grits were rich without being heavy, layered with flavor from that brodo, and cooked to absolute perfection. Comfort food, elevated. The prime flat iron steak? Tender, juicy, and cooked exactly right. Paired with those creamy garlic mashed potatoes, it was classic in the best possible way -- satisfying, indulgent, and beautifully executed. Cocktails were just as strong as the kitchen. My BonVivant was bright, balanced, and elegant with that delicious passion fruit flavor I adore. The margaritas? Spot on. Every single cocktail was perfect. Dessert sealed the five-star experience: A s'mores tart that was decadent without being overwhelming, and a tres leches cake that was moist, light, and the perfect sweet finish. And here's the real standout -- this was a busy Saturday during Restaurant Week. The restaurant was full, energy high -- and yet service never skipped a beat. Attentive, warm, seamless. No delays, no stress, no dip in quality. Food: Cocktails: Service: Dessert: It's easy to shine on a slow night. It's much harder to deliver this level of consistency when every table is full. That's what makes Seared special. Already planning our next happy hour.

Great Caesar salad but a bad night overall
    Tanya W.

The Caesar salad was delicious. Unfortunately the meal was less impressive after that. We ordered the $45 lobster and shrimp paparadelle and the order came to our table in a tiny portion, obviously with only shrimp. It took a while to call our waiter over, after several minutes, to point out the complete absence of lobster. Then after several more minutes he confirmed it was a kitchen error, made excuses for the chef and then verbally apologized. We were hungry. After another long wait we got what seemed like an even smaller portion with a tiny piece of lobster. There was no discount on our meal or offer for a complementary drink or dessert for the inconvenience. Honestly, for a $45 pasta the flavor and delay was definitely not worth it. I love seafood and have been going to Seared for years so tonight was a real disappointment.

    Wagyu Ribeye

Nestled in old downtown Petaluma, it's located in old brick building which has a lot of history along with the entire downtown. When we went the place was packed with no reservations but we did find a spot at the bar. A hidden surprise we would soon find out. We started with cocktails since we're at the bar and the bartender was Superman. Really, he was busting out drinks like he was 4 bartenders and still had the time to make conversation and story tell with us. The drinks were amazing by the way. We ordered a 14oz wagyu ribeye steak and we decided the split the meal as well as a Cesar salad. When it arrive they had given us 2 full salad servings instead of splitting one and the steaks were superbly cook medium and very juicy and tender. Pricing was fair and if anything that lacked was parking but a little walk just built our appetite a little more. Would recommend this place if yo ur in the area or passing by.

    Dungeness crab and prawn linguine
    Marlys J.

This was my second visit, and while the food was just okay overall, the experience was still enjoyable. We ordered the calamari, wagyu ribeye, and the Dungeness crab and prawn linguini. Nothing blew me away, but everything was decent. What really stood out was the service--our waiter was excellent: attentive, well-timed, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the night. It was a busy Saturday, so the restaurant was packed and quite loud, with lots of conversation filling the room. Despite the noise, I had a lovely date night and would come back--especially to try their happy hour, which I've heard great things about.

    Crème brûlée
    Lylah A.

I came to this restaurant for a end of the year work event. There were about 18 of us, which the restaurant accommodated very well. Our server was very attentive and quickly tended to our orders. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese and a seared burger both of which were good. A lot of my coworkers ordered steaks which they very much enjoyed. I would say a steak is probably the way to go when coming to seared because that is what they are known for and what they do very well. As for the dessert, I tried the crème brûlée, which was good, but felt a little more like pudding. The restaurant had a nice vibe to it and felt appropriate for this work event. I would definitely come back in the future and try other menu items. I also really enjoyed their happy hour because it was great prices. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend other groups to try seared.

Service - the gal behind oysters bar was very skilled, very informative, and kept the food comin'. She created I wish I could call her out by name but it wasn't on the receipt that was texted to me. Food - on a scale of 1 to 10 it was an 11! * Lemonade was had good lemon taste and just the right acid/sugar balance. I learned that a batch is made each day, and occasionally two. The best I've had anywhere in Sonoma County or Marin County! * I order the first three items on the oyster list (this time two of each) and came up with a new favorite. Then I added four more to the favorite. At 81 I don't do well on short term memory! I love that what was done so right was the lemon and the mignonette (sp?) sauce that was exactly balanced. The last restaurant in Ptown and two absolutely terrible with a red and a white. * Next I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail. They screamed fresh, perfectly boiled that let the shrimp flavor out, and again the red sauce was perfectly balanced between flavor and heat. Had to made in house. And they just nicely crisply cool, not in a cold place that overwhelms the flavor. I don't think I've every had one this good! * Next was a pair of fried oysters. I was prepared for some oily, bready things that would ruin all of the above. BUT NO, the perfect balance was incredible!! * Last was the clam chowder. I'm soooo fussy about this after growing up in the NorthEast (Connecticut) and 4 years of college in Maine blew this one away. It lacked the perfection and freshness of my East Coast standard. But I finished with the last of lemonade and all was well. My standard has never been "perfect." I don't meet that standard, so the chef shouldn't have to either. Hey, maybe he's never been in Maine! P.S. there's not section for this, because the above doesn't happen without OWNERS that create processes and hire people that and buy the best incredients. Kudos, gals!!

Mignonette was delicious, light & tangy but not overpowering. Baked oysters - my sis ordered one Rockefeller and one Miso. The Rockefeller was "ok" but the Miso was "absolutely divine". Braised short ribs - absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes underneath was creamy and had a distinct cheesy taste. The meat was tender and flavorful. The greens brightened up an otherwise heavy dish. Linguine di Mare - very tasty. Pasta was well cooked and seafood was fresh and not overcooked. The accompanying toast (from local bakery/cafe Della Fattoria) was crispy and chewy and sopped up the cream sauce well. And that cream sauce. Absolutely amazing. Wish I had more of the toast to get all of that delicious sauce. Service - we did not have reservations but were seated quickly upon arrival. Everyone was friendly and attentive. There was the host who seated us and one waiter working the front of the house. The host gave us menus and explained that they were out of the Parker House rolls and one of the beef entrees which was replaced with lamb shanks. when asked about the soup de jour, I was told they only had 2 bowls left. They did, however , offer beef Wellington which was not on the menu. We waited 15-20 minutes for the waiter to take our order. we had not been asked about beverages or starters either. In a word, the service was very slow. that being said, our waiter was congenial. And all the food we ordered was delicious. we ordered the house fried potatoes for a starter. They were delicious but the serving was pretty small. What seemed odd to us was that the potatoes that were served as a side with the hamburgers were not the same as what was served as the starter. The starter was clearly made from fresh cut porates and were well seasoned. the potatoes with the entree seemed like run of the mill food service fries. The beet salad and entrees were also very tasty. however, we asked for the mustard aioli on the side with the hamburgers but that's not what we got. For dessert we ordered the milk chocolate mousse and the crème boule. They were okay but nothing extraordinary . Given all the outstanding restaurants to choose from in Sonoma County, think it's unlikely we will go back.

The bar and the dining room area appeared very modern and clean. Started our meal with the Gochujang glazed cauliflower wings and they were phenomenal! Beneath the deliciously flavored glaze was a crunchy fried cauliflower that maintained its veggie tenderness! The allium dip was a bonus because it elevated the flavor to another dimension. This was definitely one of our favorite items of the night! The Parker rolls were served with a homemade butter and they were light and airy which made them pair nicely with the fresh golden beet salad. They served a very generous portion of lettuce and added all kinds of goodies in it- the burrata, pumpkin seeds , homemade french bread croutons , tomatoe and beets lightly coated with the balsamic dressing - yum! Moving onto the main entrees: the Lamb Rigatoni was served with al dente pasta in a light lemony cream sauce that combined shredded lamb shank with green peas. Was quite tasty and it was a nice change of pace from eating pasta with beef bolognese . The other entree was the Beef Wellington and it was rich ; the filet was cooked perfectly! We enjoyed every bite of this superb dish. Our meal ended with the chocolate mousse and the panna cotta which were equally delicious! Overall , we had a spectacular meal and can't wait to go back and try the bijou burger and other menu items.

Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again.

Their pretentious attitudes wouldn't make it anywhere with any class... but apparently they get away with discrimination just fine. Outright discrimination and bullying. I won't describe here why, but ladies... if people there talk to you... they won't like you, because you take from their tips?! Apparently. The female bartenders I met are horrendous bullies. They seem like they never got out of high school. I literally cried there. Yea, not cool as a grown woman. Shame on them. So my kind message to them... if you want better for your lives and are THAT miserable to treat a human being or any life that way, DO better. Just do better for yourselves, and for the sake of others.
