    Porcini mushroom soup
    Michelle O.

We were visiting Petaluma for a show at the Mystic during Sonoma County Restaurant Week and liked the Seared menu. We arrived at 5:40 pm when happy hour was in full swing so got a margarita for $9 each and glass of good Pinot Noir house red for $7.5/glass. The waiter was kind enough to honor the happy hour wine price after 6pm with our dinner reservation. The downstairs was packed with a great atmosphere though pretty loud. We were seated upstairs for dinner which was an equally quaint room with brick walls, but much quieter. We both ordered the restaurant week menu at $60 for three courses. We started with the porcini mushroom soup which was delicious and not too heavy. Husband had flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare. I had the shrimp and grits which were cooked nicely, though grits a little sparse and thin. We finished with vanilla tres leches cake which was light (I had mistakenly thought it was vanilla ice cream). Service was friendly and efficient even in a crowded dinner setting. Our reservation was at 6pm but by 7pm, it had emptied out a bit so it seemed people ate dinner after happy hour. Overall, would recommend if you find yourself in Petaluma as the main street is very lively with many restaurants and bars.

Truly excellent service! My grandma was struggling with reading the menu and our server was so kind and patient and made sure she got exactly what she wanted. My family really appreciated his kindness. The food was also delicious. They have an excellent happy hour (we were able to catch the end of it at the start of our dinner reservation). We will definitely be back!

It was our anniversary and wanted to try something we haven't had before and came across a review on this place. Although I have heard of it on occasion over the last few years I had zero idea it had been here for 12 years. So we had a reservation and they tried to put us in probably the worst table in the place In a dark corner so I asked if we could sit elsewhere. They offered a high top in bar and couldn't have sat somewhere better!! Happy hour was going on so we ordered a wedge, calamari, French dip from that menu and the filet from entrees. The food was fabulous and hh portions were large!! The steak was by no means the buttery most tender I've had but the flavors on that plate were exceptional!! Service was also great!

There's a reason Seared is my favorite restaurant in town -- and their Sonoma County Restaurant Week menu absolutely delivered. We already make it a point to do happy hour there at least once a month, but this weekend reminded me why they're consistently at the top of my list. We started with the beef skewers -- deeply flavorful, perfectly cooked, and the kind of appetizer that sets the tone immediately. The salad was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced -- light but not boring. For entrées, we went with the shrimp and grits in shrimp brodo and the prime flat iron steak with garlic mashed potatoes -- and both were phenomenal. The shrimp and grits were rich without being heavy, layered with flavor from that brodo, and cooked to absolute perfection. Comfort food, elevated. The prime flat iron steak? Tender, juicy, and cooked exactly right. Paired with those creamy garlic mashed potatoes, it was classic in the best possible way -- satisfying, indulgent, and beautifully executed. Cocktails were just as strong as the kitchen. My BonVivant was bright, balanced, and elegant with that delicious passion fruit flavor I adore. The margaritas? Spot on. Every single cocktail was perfect. Dessert sealed the five-star experience: A s'mores tart that was decadent without being overwhelming, and a tres leches cake that was moist, light, and the perfect sweet finish. And here's the real standout -- this was a busy Saturday during Restaurant Week. The restaurant was full, energy high -- and yet service never skipped a beat. Attentive, warm, seamless. No delays, no stress, no dip in quality. Food: Cocktails: Service: Dessert: It's easy to shine on a slow night. It's much harder to deliver this level of consistency when every table is full. That's what makes Seared special. Already planning our next happy hour.

This was long over due since moving to Sonoma County two years ago. Seared is situated in downtown Petaluma just off of East Washington Blvd, which can be accessed from either direction of the US-101. The downtown area is live on Friday's and the weekends with tons of amenities nearby within walking distance. The indoor area of Seared is medium sized and I believe they have an outdoor patio area as well. The service was relatively fast, drinks were good and the food was on point. Me and my wife ordered the prawns over fried rice, Parmesan truffle fries, lobster mac n cheese and the halibut. I had a manhattan and she had mixed cocktail (can't remember the name). Both drinks were great. My favorite part was probably the prawns and lobster mac.Next time I'll try the steak. Overall, seared is a great place to have dinner or to simply take someone out for a date night.

Great Caesar salad but a bad night overall
    Tanya W.

The Caesar salad was delicious. Unfortunately the meal was less impressive after that. We ordered the $45 lobster and shrimp paparadelle and the order came to our table in a tiny portion, obviously with only shrimp. It took a while to call our waiter over, after several minutes, to point out the complete absence of lobster. Then after several more minutes he confirmed it was a kitchen error, made excuses for the chef and then verbally apologized. We were hungry. After another long wait we got what seemed like an even smaller portion with a tiny piece of lobster. There was no discount on our meal or offer for a complementary drink or dessert for the inconvenience. Honestly, for a $45 pasta the flavor and delay was definitely not worth it. I love seafood and have been going to Seared for years so tonight was a real disappointment.

    Crème brûlée

I came to this restaurant for a end of the year work event. There were about 18 of us, which the restaurant accommodated very well. Our server was very attentive and quickly tended to our orders. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese and a seared burger both of which were good. A lot of my coworkers ordered steaks which they very much enjoyed. I would say a steak is probably the way to go when coming to seared because that is what they are known for and what they do very well. As for the dessert, I tried the crème brûlée, which was good, but felt a little more like pudding. The restaurant had a nice vibe to it and felt appropriate for this work event. I would definitely come back in the future and try other menu items. I also really enjoyed their happy hour because it was great prices. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend other groups to try seared.

Awesome! Decided to have a post-Christmas Happy Hour visit to one of our faves, Seared. The energy was so festive and happening. Surprisingly, we were seated at a table. Their Happy Hour menu is outstanding. In addition to our drinks, we shared their crispy calamari ($9), steak skewers ($9.75), Kung Pao Prawns ($9.75), and Prime Rib Dip ($9.75) . Our tastebuds and tummies were thoroughly satisfied! And even though the place was packed you could never tell by the service! Our server was Keegan, very on-top-of-it , attentive and super friendly! Such a great experience! Looking forward to our next visit!

    Dungeness crab and prawn linguine
    Marlys J.

This was my second visit, and while the food was just okay overall, the experience was still enjoyable. We ordered the calamari, wagyu ribeye, and the Dungeness crab and prawn linguini. Nothing blew me away, but everything was decent. What really stood out was the service--our waiter was excellent: attentive, well-timed, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the night. It was a busy Saturday, so the restaurant was packed and quite loud, with lots of conversation filling the room. Despite the noise, I had a lovely date night and would come back--especially to try their happy hour, which I've heard great things about.

A "Vegan Meal" at Seared is a boring bowl of veggies with NO protein. Very uninspired.... And yes, this was served as the only vegan meal.

Don't pick this place for a company party to appreciate employees if you have any vegans in your group -- they will not feel appreciated. For whatever reason, the chef(s) (who are great with animal dishes) can't grasp how to make a worthy plant-based dish, and don't even include a protein to satiate. Several years in a row now, the vegans just get a bowl of plain roasted veggies with a meager sauce (that I'm not even sure is vegan, as it tastes of beef broth base). NO protein -- JUST vegetables. And so, the vegans starve here. While everyone else gets to enjoy a huge variety of delicious dishes, every dish has animal products in it, even the salads, and the desserts (dairy). So, you cannot show appreciation to your vegan employees here -- choose somewhere else. Sadly, I even emailed the chef in previous years, asking why they don't include a protein of some sort in with the vegetable -- like tofu, tempeh, beans, chickpeas, lentils, even a nut or seed -- NOTHING! And, why they don't include a vegan dessert. Just ONE bowl of veggies. That's it. That's all they give the vegans. It's just mind-blowing that a restaurant wouldn't know how to make a balanced meal that is plant-based in this day and age. If anything, just research what other restaurants do in the area. Even Fishetarian, out in Bodega Bay, now offers a plant-based version of their Shane's Tacos, making them with a grilled tofu instead, and they have some vegan sauces. And that's a fish place! I'd no more expect to see vegan options on their menu than I would at Seared -- yet, Fishetarian has their act together (kuddos, Fishetarian, and that's why the whole family can enjoy eating there regularly). Seared, on the other hand, please get your act together. Plant-based needs are growing -- and not just for the reasons you'd assume. Many people give up meat due to heart conditions or other health problems they're trying to heal from. And many have allergies to eggs or dairy, so to not offer desserts that are plant-based, yet equally delicious, is a mistake. Even during the Great Depression, they knew how to make cake without eggs or dairy (see "Chocolate Depression Cake" recipe on Reddit, by BlackCatKitchen, which is exactly like chocolate cake, and when iced, is indistinguishable from a Hostess Cupcake). Cookies can be made with ground flax seed (it makes a "flax egg" when it sits in warm water 5-10 minutes), muffins and scones with applesauce, cakes with vinegar and baking soda -- you really don't need eggs or dairy. You can also substitute cow milk with soy, oat, or almond milks, and butter with Earth Balance (vegan butter) or even just olive oil. So many options. Maybe go eat at Little Saint in Healdsburg for their dinner menu... get some ideas. We don't need that fake meat stuff, like Impossible, Beyond, etc.... But please include a normal protein, such as grilled pressed seasoned tofu, BBQ tempeh bites, marinated chickpeas, seasoned or pureed beans (black, navy, kidney, pinto, adzuki, whatever), pine nuts, tofu "ricotta" stuffed pasta shells or lasagna (try Thug Kitchen's "The Official Cookbook" for some excellent hearty meals), a seasoned walnut "meat" taco crumble, pumpkin seeds, hummus, a hemp seed ranch sauce in a wrap, etc... Because every time I eat your bowl of roasted veggies, I leave your restaurant STARVING, while everyone else has a nice full belly. That's not the impression you want to leave people with. And please make sure your sauces don't contain animal products, which includes animal broth, in your vegan dishes. Mushroom/tamari/ginger broth is good, but not beef or chicken or fish sauce. I know you're a meat place... I get that. But you also serve company parties, so you should also understand where I'm coming from. If you're going to offer group parties, you should consider that not all guests eat animal products -- so have a few excellent dishes under your belt (not just one boring veg bowl that doesn't even fill you up, and zero vegan appetizers, salads, or desserts). And even for families -- just one vegan family member will cause the entire family choose a different place to eat, if you don't have a few excellent plant-based options. So you should really adapt, and think of your community if you're going to be a part of it. I was going to give 2 stars, but am giving 1 because I emailed the chef previously (no reply), then next time we came (the following year), they obviously hadn't considered my outreach, because the vegans once again received a plain boring bowl of veggies with NO protein. They had a whole year to try, but nope. Reading other reviews here (if you search "vegan" in the reviews), I can see why now... They obviously don't care about vegans, even though we are part of the community, part of families, friend groups, and companies that hold their parties there. No consideration.

First visit here and came for Happy Hour and some fresh oysters. The place was packed and I guess it's popular with the locals. I spoke with a couple in line that said they love the Happy Hour and their cocktails. Got the calamari which was delicious! Lots of crispy tasty pieces! Got a half dozen oyster that got inhaled. Would definitely recommend!

Seared was a wonderful experience! Went here on a Saturday evening and was treated with incredible service and a delicious meal! We had a reservation and were taken upstairs which made the vibe or ambiance a little meh because more of the energy was downstairs in the main area, but it ended up being a really great time overall. I ordered the surf n turf with shrimp instead of scallops and filet mignon. The person I was with got the Wagyu ribeye. We both demolished our meals because it was so delicious. The roasted oysters were soooo incredible I wish I had like 10 of them! It was overall just a wonderful experience and I would love to come back another time.

Yes, there is a large upper private room that includes a dance floor and a bar with patio overlooking the Petaluma River.

We were going to order only 1 churro but the server offered that the churros are gluten free so we ordered two orders! The menu doesn't say this, so FYI. They were one of the best potato preparations I've ever had. Shockingly fluffy and light inside literally like a potato cloud. Maybe the cheese helps with this? I don't know but get them. Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again.

Check the hours, but it's awesome that at the moment it is open 7 days a week until 11pm! By far, the most inviting "later evening" spot in town for a cocktail or glass of wine. A small menu from The Shuckery is available (I believe you can order most things?) - appetizers. The restaurant is right next to this space. I great spot to relax and spend time with friends or loved ones - whether staying at Hotel Petaluma or not!

Turns out they didn't have space for my party in the restaurant but were more than happy to seat and serve us in the Parlor. We got drinks, appetizers, and main courses, and it was all lovely! There was a wedding happening in the hotel, so we dined to the fine tunes of the DJ (not sarcasm - the DJ was great!). Despite us being down the hall from the actual restaurant, service was good. We started with some oysters and the burrata. My friends seemed happy with their oysters, but I thought the burrata was only okay. It was a bit watery and the portion was small. I ordered the scallops and my husband got the lobster roll and we both very much enjoyed our meals. Mine came with three large scallops in a light sauce on a bed of vegetables. There were a bunch of shaved carrots and everything really came together nicely! I saw a few other smaller parties relaxing on the couches with drinks. I appreciated the option of having a more low-key option to a sit down restaurant when I was having a rare night out with friends.

I heard a lot about this place (mostly bad) but still gave them the benefit of doubt. Anyways I had more than half of a beer on the bar table when I went to check where my dude was at in line not even 1 min or 30s passed and my drink was gone. I was still coherent at this point so I confronted the bartender (came to find out he's the bar manager ) and replied "buy another" in such a condescending and snarky way, he said more but under his breath.GIRL I WASNT GONE FOR MORE THEN 30SECS! Last time this happened the langanitas brand ambassador gave me a free beer (shoutout) . After this I started to cry because after this encounter as I felt so belittled he continuously ignored me. Then he said something like " oh now you're crying" and was laughing at me/ mocking me . He's so two faced cuz after he was being so sweet to the guys next to us . I had told the other bartender about the situation ,as she had taken care of me for most of the night, and she shrugged and said "well he's the manager " . So if the customers can't speak up I can't imagine how the situation is with the employees.... Anyways super rude super belittling it's a shame . Never coming back . My dude was there to witness so were people that I had met last night fck yalllllllll weirrdos pr3rvs
