Delicious cocktails, friendly service, fun full size video games, and chill vibe. Definitely a wonderful spot for an afternoon cocktail

Oh man. It's a good thing I don't live closer to BLS, or I'd definitely be a regular. As soon as we walked in, we got the best vibe from the place. Lots of customers chilling out, playing table games, chatting. I love how there were lots of comfortable seating options for different sized groups. We ordered a maelstrom cocktail and paper plane cocktail. Both were expertly prepared and tasty. I love the glassware they use too. The happy hour deal is good: $12 cocktails from 4-6p, Wednesday thru Friday. Our bartender was fab, imparting her spirits knowledge. We tried to purchase a bottle of absinthe, but it isn't in stock right now. Hoping to come back to pick up a bottle, and maybe a couple nick & nora glasses, and maybe a bottle of aged rum. Can you tell we liked their bar and spirits?

OMG!! Is the best I can explain this spot. My husband loved the Rye Whiskey and he can't say enough praises. I got an amazing cocktail (because I have to enjoy even though I'm not a whiskey drinker ) and it was the best - Temptation sooo good!!! Please stop by and enjoy this gem of a place. And my Lola girl was so relaxed she passed out

This is the sort of place you almost don't want to review at all, for fear of unleashing the pack. I should probably give it fewer stars on principle, just to keep the barbarians at bay. I fell for it the moment I walked in, and when I came back, it delivered again without blinking. The ambience feels like an upscale apocalypse: stylish, slightly dangerous, as if civilization collapsed but left the good liquor behind. The drinks are razor-sharp, built on serious spirits that don't hide behind sugar or gimmicks. The service is warm, steady, human. And somehow, against all odds, they even run a happy hour Wednesday through Friday. A rare oasis. Guard it carefully.

We had the good fortune of meeting owner Aaron Lee at the Artisan Cheese Festival in Santa Rosa and tasting his delicious bourbon, aged rum, and barrel Aged maple syrup. Since the products were not for sale at the festival, we stopped at Barber Lee in Petaluma on the way home to purchase the maple syrup. The ambiance was elegant and the service was good, and we loved the gorgeous Blood Lust cocktail featuring the aged rum. We will definitely be back to try more cocktails!

i had been here for one of the few elite events i can remember attending. maybe should do more but i've never been very good at things i should do, and age isn't improving anything for most part. anyway, i bought several sample bottles and for since then haven't touched much of it. bourbon i never cared for so i unsure why i bought a bottle... who knows, but there it is untouched on the shelf anyway. the absinthe blanche bottle is nearly as full, suffering greatly as it does from inadequate strength and complexity of herbs roots seeds wormy wood mold etc such that the main effect going down is high proof burn at the end because absinthe, being generally made at higher proof than other rectified alcohol bevs, leaves much to be desired if the aromatics are poorly chosen or inadequately used. My favorite as a pedestrian absintheur, grande absente 138, is by way of example 138 proof. this is enough solvent to hold the considerable amount of essential oils in solution and finish off the drink by covering the spirit burn with strong residual and lingering notes like licorice. barber probably better off sticking to less tricky stuff, vermouth for example. but for me there is one winner in the bunch, which recently caused me to buy more at retail prices no less: apple brandy. I am, or was anyway, a big fan of calvados ever since i first discovered tripes as made in caen, fr. having dined on this in the namesake town i was determined to cook it back home which is when i bought my first bottle of "applejack doc", ie french style. but that was years ago, before consumers on this side of the atlantic discovered alcohol could be more interesting than md20/20 or t-bird or (my nominee for all time ghetto winner) night train express. (i should admit that for a time i was responsible for developing some of these products, my masterpiece being something the marketing dept decided to name "sundown" using the catchy come-on "put your lights out with sundown" in print ads). since then, quality of calvados seems to have declined, and domestic producers like laird's are even less good. so to give a positive note to the barber distillers, i think their best product in my admittedly limited evaluation is their apple brandy. rarely am i inspired to go for seconds, but this one is worthy.

Chill little place. Super friendly staff Skye and Gabe I believe. Did the whiskey spirt flight got to try 5 whiskeys. No food service but they did have small chip bags.

I love the atmosphere here, especially in the fall/winter months. Grab a cozy seat near the window and relax with an inventive cocktail. Their specialties are absinthe (which is delicious), rye, bourbon. They've added some rum as well now. The owner is extremely welcoming and helpful.

$16 gets you your choice of 3 spirit tastings plus a cocktail.

The last time I'd tried Absinthe was at a hip, exclusive bar in Berlin. The way I felt the following day left me - I thought - swearing off Absinthe for life. At Barber Lee Spirits I had Absinthe with differing outcomes. Here, I took a sip of Absinthe Blanche buried not in a cocktail but nested in a small, hen-shaped, shot glass. It heated my throat with a complex anise flavor. The server suggested I sample it also with water and poured a small shot into the hen; a white cloud of Absinthe formed, looking invitingly complex and enticing in the glass. I sampled other house-made spirits too: a Single Malt Rye Whiskey, a Heirloom Corn Bourbon. Here, while sitting in a comfortable, friendly storefront space, for a reasonable $16, you can get a Tasting Flight (your choice of 3 house-produced spirits from a menu of 7) and a cocktail. The cocktails are complex and constructed around the spirits, with each descriptor sounding more enchanting than the one before it on the menu. A Brazilian, my eventual choice, featured White Rum, Lime Juice, Sugar, and a Brown Sugar/Cinnamon rimmed glass. This was the kind of cocktail you hope to get at places charging "craft cocktail" prices. Here, it really was a craft cocktail; simply perfect. I left Barber Lee Spirits in the most pleasant of mindsets. I'd invested a mere $16 and had an experience. I'd learned about the operations and the spirits in a non-wonky way, without pretense. I'd sampled high quality spirits and followed up with a perfect cocktail. It hadn't tasted strong but it was spirit-forward and my mood had improved as a result. Barber Lee Spirits is a really fun experience; It's something both different and better than the usual bar. People who join their Spirits Club get 50% off cocktails all year long, for them and their guests, and for a brief minute this inspired a daydream about a future move to Petaluma. The moment passed, but I've no doubt I'll again make time for a return visit to this unique destination.

This place is amazing. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the drinks are unique and tasty. Environment is gorgeous. Their extended hours leave no excuses for not visiting this amazing establishment.

Barber Lee Spirits serves up some pretty tasty cocktails. One of my friends, Patricia S. is a frequent patron and club member. She raves about this distillery all the time and now I understand why. They have plenty of different kinds of cocktails on their menu with clever names. It was hard to pick which one to order, but I decided on the Moonrise. I loved it! The rim was dusted with raspberry sugar. Next time I would like to try the Moonshine Margarita and Barber Lee Toddy. We ordered some pork and beef Russian dumplings coated in butter. They were incredible. I couldn't stop eating them. The service was excellent. Mike, one of the three owners, hand crafted our cocktails to perfection and provided great hospitality especially since he was making cocktails and serving each table by himself. The main tasting room isn't open right now due to Covid, but they have the front of their production area set up next door with tables and chairs spaced out. There is plenty of street parking around the corner.

Apple Pie Old Fashioned and I forgot the name but it had ancho in the name. Fantastic as usual.

Service - the gal behind oysters bar was very skilled, very informative, and kept the food comin'. She created I wish I could call her out by name but it wasn't on the receipt that was texted to me. Food - on a scale of 1 to 10 it was an 11! * Lemonade was had good lemon taste and just the right acid/sugar balance. I learned that a batch is made each day, and occasionally two. The best I've had anywhere in Sonoma County or Marin County! * I order the first three items on the oyster list (this time two of each) and came up with a new favorite. Then I added four more to the favorite. At 81 I don't do well on short term memory! I love that what was done so right was the lemon and the mignonette (sp?) sauce that was exactly balanced. The last restaurant in Ptown and two absolutely terrible with a red and a white. * Next I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail. They screamed fresh, perfectly boiled that let the shrimp flavor out, and again the red sauce was perfectly balanced between flavor and heat. Had to made in house. And they just nicely crisply cool, not in a cold place that overwhelms the flavor. I don't think I've every had one this good! * Next was a pair of fried oysters. I was prepared for some oily, bready things that would ruin all of the above. BUT NO, the perfect balance was incredible!! * Last was the clam chowder. I'm soooo fussy about this after growing up in the NorthEast (Connecticut) and 4 years of college in Maine blew this one away. It lacked the perfection and freshness of my East Coast standard. But I finished with the last of lemonade and all was well. My standard has never been "perfect." I don't meet that standard, so the chef shouldn't have to either. Hey, maybe he's never been in Maine! P.S. there's not section for this, because the above doesn't happen without OWNERS that create processes and hire people that and buy the best incredients. Kudos, gals!!

We got an additional dozen because they were so tasty. Raw oysters - Well shucked. Very minimal shell pieces if at all. Fresh clean tasting. The varieties we had were called Sweet Jesus and Kuushi. Mignonette was delicious, light & tangy but not overpowering. Baked oysters - my sis ordered one Rockefeller and one Miso. The Rockefeller was "ok" but the Miso was "absolutely divine". Braised short ribs - absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes underneath was creamy and had a distinct cheesy taste. The meat was tender and flavorful. The greens brightened up an otherwise heavy dish. Linguine di Mare - very tasty. Pasta was well cooked and seafood was fresh and not overcooked. The accompanying toast (from local bakery/cafe Della Fattoria) was crispy and chewy and sopped up the cream sauce well. And that cream sauce. Absolutely amazing. Wish I had more of the toast to get all of that delicious sauce. Service - we did not have reservations but were seated quickly upon arrival. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Shout out to Wade and Scott. 10/10 would recommend, would come again. Delicious fresh food, great service.

There was the host who seated us and one waiter working the front of the house. The host gave us menus and explained that they were out of the Parker House rolls and one of the beef entrees which was replaced with lamb shanks. when asked about the soup de jour, I was told they only had 2 bowls left. They did, however , offer beef Wellington which was not on the menu. We waited 15-20 minutes for the waiter to take our order. we had not been asked about beverages or starters either. In a word, the service was very slow. that being said, our waiter was congenial. And all the food we ordered was delicious. we ordered the house fried potatoes for a starter. They were delicious but the serving was pretty small. What seemed odd to us was that the potatoes that were served as a side with the hamburgers were not the same as what was served as the starter. The starter was clearly made from fresh cut porates and were well seasoned. the potatoes with the entree seemed like run of the mill food service fries. The beet salad and entrees were also very tasty. however, we asked for the mustard aioli on the side with the hamburgers but that's not what we got. For dessert we ordered the milk chocolate mousse and the crème boule. They were okay but nothing extraordinary . Given all the outstanding restaurants to choose from in Sonoma County, think it's unlikely we will go back.

The bar and the dining room area appeared very modern and clean. Started our meal with the Gochujang glazed cauliflower wings and they were phenomenal! Beneath the deliciously flavored glaze was a crunchy fried cauliflower that maintained its veggie tenderness! The allium dip was a bonus because it elevated the flavor to another dimension. This was definitely one of our favorite items of the night! The Parker rolls were served with a homemade butter and they were light and airy which made them pair nicely with the fresh golden beet salad. They served a very generous portion of lettuce and added all kinds of goodies in it- the burrata, pumpkin seeds , homemade french bread croutons , tomatoe and beets lightly coated with the balsamic dressing - yum! Moving onto the main entrees: the Lamb Rigatoni was served with al dente pasta in a light lemony cream sauce that combined shredded lamb shank with green peas. Was quite tasty and it was a nice change of pace from eating pasta with beef bolognese . The other entree was the Beef Wellington and it was rich ; the filet was cooked perfectly! We enjoyed every bite of this superb dish. Our meal ended with the chocolate mousse and the panna cotta which were equally delicious! Overall , we had a spectacular meal and can't wait to go back and try the bijou burger and other menu items.

Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again.

What an awful attitude and experience. Wow. I even had the real "pleasure" to talk to a couple girls that were there but off that night (employed there, sadly). Their pretentious attitudes wouldn't make it anywhere with any class... but apparently they get away with discrimination just fine. Outright discrimination and bullying. I won't describe here why, but ladies... if people there talk to you... they won't like you, because you take from their tips?! Apparently. The female bartenders I met are horrendous bullies. They seem like they never got out of high school. I literally cried there. Yea, not cool as a grown woman. Shame on them. So my kind message to them... if you want better for your lives and are THAT miserable to treat a human being or any life that way, DO better. Just do better for yourselves, and for the sake of others.
