Booked reservations on a whim- just hours before arriving as had been waiting to try it out. Welcoming staff, very helpful and fun. Got seated in a booth downstairs which was cozy (but they have some tables upstairs with the bar). Ordered an array of items and all exceeded our expectations. 12/10 for drinks, 15/10 for steak tartare (not pictured because we dug in) and 10/10 for table side Caesar and Filet Mignon. The steak was not bad. A little tough, but well cooked and seasoned. However, they are VERY expensive and everything is ala carte except for an accompanying sauce and specialty salt. So it just goes up from the steak. The service was good. We were trying to go to dinner in Healdsburg on a Friday night. Every place we tried was booked except for this place. This is never advertised or talked about haha Prices have gone up SIGNIFICANTLY, I mean $70 to 92 for a 16oz ribeye...... in 10 months?!! We usually get the mash potatoes with the steak and oysters to start. The quality is meat is very very good- chef is top notch, however the continued raise of prices we question... We did not know they had a bar, we even asked the server and he told us no. So it must be a "secret" they keep to pay these high high end prices and not experience the upstairs. Our table ordered the filet, the lobster, the short rib, and the ribeye special. The ribeye was very fatty and definitely not 8oz. (Closer to 4 than 8) The filet was cooked correctly, but lacked in flavor. The short rib was dry, the lobster was "just ok". The wedge salad was one of the best items we ordered and the bread pudding was also good. Mac and cheese lacked flavor and was a pasty texture. We knew this recently opened Bill Foley owned steakhouse on the plaza was expensive, but we were treating out of town guests so decided to book. Was surprised that had a lot of reservations available a few hours before dinner on a Friday night. The interior is beautifully designed, including green leather banquettes and a sleek glass elevator to the second floor. The restaurant was empty downstairs at 7:15pm on a Friday night, but they said they had two big parties upstairs. So they gave us the "king and queens table" in the front with a view of the open kitchen. Prices for steaks were high (filet $90, New York $97 and up), all served without sides. Three of us opted for the $80 summer priced fixe menu, which included a choice of starter, main, and dessert. Husband had the chopped wedge salad, but it wasn't a wedge and served in a bowl with bacon, candied walnuts and blue cheese dressing. I had the corn bisque to start, with a corn fritter in center, which wasn't as thick as some I've had a quite sweet and good. Husband had the 8 oz ribeye served in a bowl on top of potato puree and Swiss chard. He loves a rare steak and it was served perfectly. He enjoyed it but thought it was hard to eat in a bowl as you couldn't cut it without getting mixed up in the mash. They need to revert to a plate. I didn't feel like red meat (mistake!) and got the petrale sole meunière with vine ripened tomatos. The fish was quite bland and mushy and not to my liking. Husband liked the fish so maybe it's just my taste as I like a firmer fish. Dessert was fried caramel bread pudding, which was like a deep fried cinnamon roll with a yummy vanilla ice cream. Ice cream was great but cake too large so we boxed it. Adding the tip, plus Parker House rolls (6 to a serving, a bit too toasted) and an $80 bottle of wine, dinner came to nearly $500 for four people. We gorged ourselves at Willi's Seafood (food more to my liking) and I was full at $250 for four. I know there are a lot of wealthy people in Healdsburg and tourists, but Goodnights was too high. The odd thing is that the second floor had about 6 tables of diners plus a lively bar and we would have preferred that to the empty main floor. It was darker upstairs and not bright like the ground floor. Diners looked younger and hipper so maybe that's the preference upstairs. Service was fine and we had several servers bringing out food. The chef stopped by and asked how the meal was and was very nice. If they lowered the prices a bit and offered better non-steak options (e.g, add shrimp, scallop, salmon, or pasta to the menu), we might consider returning. They do have a locals hour mid-week in the upstairs bar, but only a burger and sides on the menu and it's earlier than I eat dinner (4-5:30pm). read more

Came here on a Thursday to hear some live music and loved it - such a great jazz group. I had eaten big earlier in the day so had some cocktails and apps. Cocktails were both creative and refreshing (though I don't remember the names). Cesar salad and bread rolls were perfect and flavorful. French onion soup was good but small and the mac and cheese was a little too Smokey for my taste. Sat at the chefs counter and had great service. Ohh what an experience. It was a birthday dinner for myself with 7 others. Made a reservation it did take a bit after the time. It was crowded, but there was a bar and we couldn't really complain with drinks in our hand. The host and server were hilarious, a couple of us had already had drinks and were slight loud but he just went along and got us our apps quickly. I would highly recommend this place. The steaks were cooked very well and the the rest of the dishes were on point t as well We did have a Vegan person with us. There were some option but she asked for some unique combinations. This is one of our family favorite spots to go to when we make our way to Healdsburg. Located conveniently around the square, Goodnights was a wonderful addition to the area to convince us to drive up more often. For all the times we have been to this restaurant, we have only been seated upstairs. We have immensely appreciated this as it has always been accommodating to my requests for us to be seated conveniently for my grandfather who is in a wheelchair to be able to get around as well as to be seated away from drafts from the door that would annoy my grandparents. The space has always looked clean and warm. When it comes to food, we normally do everything family style where we order a bunch of food and just have everyone share. For the most part, we've found that the prices here are a bit steep but the quality of the food seems to justify the price a little. For appetizers, we've mainly tried the maitake mushrooms and the parker house rolls. The rolls were nice but nothing like the ones you can find at Della Fattoria. As for the Maitake mushrooms, they're thickly battered and lacking in flavor so I'd skip out on it when I return. As for entrees, we always split one bone-in ribeye, their halibut (?), and a few sides. More often than not, this is too much food for five or six of us and we end up taking leftovers home. The steak is always perfectly cooked and delicious. When it comes to the halibut, the fish itself is incredible but the parsnip puree that it comes with started a three month craving for it. Great choices when it comes to entrees! As for desserts, we've had the banana split cup, the baklava, and the sorbet. If they ever bring it back, the banana split was a favorite in our household. The top dessert in our book however would have been the lychee sorbet. It was odd to hear that they would have this flavor but it was mindblowing and tasty. Overall, if you're on a budget, this may not be your spot. If you're looking for a special place for a special occasion where you're willing to spend a little more, this is a wonderful choice to come to. read more

My friend and I visited on Thursday during restaurant week and everything was delicious, there was a bit of wait but we totally understand due to restaurant week and Prime Rib Thursday! Umami in steak Diane burst in your mount and it's so tender! I booked my husband and I a dinner in neighboring Restaurant but he would rather go to Goodnight's instead so I came back again today for another delicious dinner except this time I ordered salmon. Unfortunately the salmon was lacking flavor and it was swimming in some kind of milky sauce (why?). Jason (the best ever) the manager saw me not eating my food and insisted on replacing it with steak diane. Customer service in this place is just phenomenal. I love steakhouses and was delighted to see Goodnight's when looking for dinner reservations to fill a weekend in Healdsburg. My gf and I were seated along the wall near the kitchen. It was enjoyable watching the chef and staff prepare all the delicious food and seeing the well oiled machine in action. The ambiance is lively and jovial and has a more of a modernized steakhouse atmosphere with dark wood colors, various textures and chic lighting. I loved the tufted seating in the booths although not seated there. We started out with a couple of perfectly mixed artisan cocktails before dinner- an Old Fashioned and a "That Don't Impress Me Much". Our server was very attentive and friendly and even the manager stopped by to chat. Dinner was excellent. The little gem salad was fresh, crunchy and with a light dressing. They didn't have any baked potatoes left. So we decided on the hearty pureed Yukon gold potatoes- definitely comfort food. The main attraction was the 16 oz dry aged ribeye with our chosen chimichurri sauce. We enjoyed ourselves so much for dinner and returned a second time the next evening for nightcaps and a bite of the fried Maitake Mushrooms which was a perfect app with drinks (on the heavier side). We had chosen to go here because of all the positive reviews for special celebrations, but were extremely disappointed. This new steakhouse in downtown Healdsburg calls themselves "western style." The decor is impeccable - from a glass sided elevator, to fake rifles on a chandelier, to a bench seating waiting area, to a swanky upstairs bar, to surprisingly comfortable bar chairs. They offer steaks, of course, but also an incredible cocktail menu with a focus on bourbons and wine. Surprisingly for a steakhouse, there are also a number of delicious vegetarian options! My family took over the downstairs bar seating for a wonderful dinner out. It's actually an incredible place to sit as you get to see the chefs preparing each item, from head chef David Lawrence ensuring each steak is cooked to perfection, to the soup being poured, to them trying out new menu items. They are a friendly group and are willing to chat with you about their process. Our waitress and bartender Ashleigh did a great job. I got to try a number of menu items, sharing with my family, so I can personally recommend the rolls, crispy maitake mushrooms (like calamari but vegetarian! delicious chimichurri!), butternut squash (perfect for fall), little gem salad, the housemade pasta (so much umami), and the mashed potatoes. Folks in my party also tried and liked the tartare, ribeye steak, and fries. I got a mocktail and our party tried their margaritas and martinis and enjoyed it all. The espresso martini stood out as particularly delicious. The prices here are quite upscale. I think the food is worth it, but it's certainly a place you only visit for a special night out every once in a while unless you're loaded with cash. The only price I couldn't justify was charging for salt, when you're paying up to $200 for a steak they should just give you the specialty salt, in my opinion. My husband is a steak lover and his ribeye was less flavorful than the ones we buy at our local Oliver's supermarket. The best thing we had was the bread, Parker house rolls. Best deal on the menu was the prime rib meal for $70 each, so the whole party went that way. The only change was dressing on the salad. Having overindulged in wine that day, we all just asked for water, much to the apparent disappointment of our server. The meal started with a wedge salad, that actually was more of a handful of mixed greens with very sparce dressing. Meh. Next came the entre. A generous slab of prime rib, mashed potatoes and asparagus. There was also a strange "roll-like" thing on the plate that I never did fully identify (or eat) The prime rib was ok. Not very flavorful or seasoned. The potatoes, as my 20 year old daughter would say, were FIRE! And the asparagus was, well....asparagus. Meh. Last was dessert. A "bananas foster" dessert that really seamed no more that a bowl of bananas in burnt sugar with something crunch in the sauce, topped with a blob of vanilla ice cream. Not having had bananas foster before, it could have been the best or the worst......I don't know for sure......but. Meh. All in all, it was a nice place with nice food. Good but not great. This was our fourth time going to goodnights and it was the best of the four! They've been through several general managers and I think they finally got it together because the service was great, the food was great and the live jazz was awesome. The drinks are a little quirky, but some of them are good. We had the prime rib and it was really good and huge. Definitely enough for two people. The bread pudding was a little dry and since that's my favorite dessert of all time, I was a bit disappointed, but the flavor and everything was delicious. One thing they absolutely must change is the mac & cheese! I hope they read this lol they haven't changed the mac & cheese since they opened. It has tiny noodles and it is not creamy. It is dry. Took my daughter after a day of wine tasting. We shared the 16oz ribeye cooked perfectly with the Potato Purée (aka mashed potatoes ). She had a cocktail while the bartender made me a lemon mock tail to enjoy with her. No room for dessert as the food was so good. My wife and I had the Filet, baked potato, and a veggie I don't recall. The food was very well prepared and presented. The steak was excellent. The dinner rolls could have been softer but they were also very good. The baked potato was good but I recommend a little longer cook time to soften it a little a little more. It should press through a fork. My wife said the veggies were very food. So, food 4 Service was excellent. They were very attentive and made sure you were always getting what you needed. Service 5. Ambiance was very nice. They don't cram you into a table 2 feet from the next diner. Decor was great and the restaurant was very well kept. Location. It's Healdsburg in wine country. Great little downtown and is very easily found. It isn't water front or vineyard views but it is still very good. It's a 4. Overall, I'd go 4.5 Unfortunately, that drops to a 4 just because there isn't a 4.5 stars. If you're downtown and want a great place to have a nice dinner. I'd recommend this place. read more

Hands down one of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. The service was phenomenal, starting with the guy at the front calling me by name once I told him my reservation time. After I was seated he asked for the other guests name so he could refer to them by name once they arrived. My friend dropped her fork on the floor and within less than a minute the server brought out a new fork. The food was also great. While the prices are standard healdsburg steakhouse prices, the portions are decent and we shared a steak, rolls, salad, baked potato, and asparagus and had plenty of left overs. The manager was fantastic; he presented us with a horseshoe for good luck in the years ahead and a heartfelt card signed by the entire team. Ashleigh was exceptional--always attentive and cheerful. My husband and I celebrated our 37th anniversary and the staff made our night. Our server Ireland was excellent. The Manager Jason (I hope I am remembering his name correctly) was great about checking in on us, giving us information on the wine and food we selected and the staff all signed a card wishing us a happy anniversary. These are the small touches that make a difference. We were also given a compliment glass of champagne to start our meal. Again, the small details made it just that more memorable.
