My second visit here after almost a year and I see things have changed. Prices are up and serving size for the flights is less than before. it made me sad because my first visit here was pretty great and memorable :( Me and my friend came here on a hot Saturday afternoon in hopes to buy some lime vodka bottles to take home. Unfortunately, no lime vodka apparently been out for two months and hopefully will be in stock again soon :(. Staff was attentive and friendly and we were told to sit anywhere we would like. The sitting area is huge, you got the bar area and many sitting areas around. I just wished it wasn't so bright with all the lights for a more comfy ambience. We went ahead and ordered a flight of 4 to share. We picked gin, lime vodka, bourbon whiskey and corn whiskey. We noticed a huge difference on the pours on the flights, was just a sip compared to last times generous pours. After that, we got some cocktails. The cocktails were delicious! The menu was different from our last visit which was nice, love trying new cocktails. My friend did order an old fashioned again but she said the one she had before was better, i think maybe because they put corn instead of bourbon this time. Also ordered one of the summer specials, boozy root beer. You get a choice of bourbon, gin or corn whiskey so i picked bourbon. It was okay, i wish the root beer was a bit stronger (think A&W root beer) but the ice cream was super delicious so it was still all good Overall still had a good experience even with the more expensive drinks. I was in a downtown Healdsburg boutique when I heard the local store employees mention this distillery, Young and Yonder. Just a five minute walk from downtown and we stumbled into this awesome gem. Very friendly staff, delicious cocktails and cool decor. Perfect place for groups or couples! I enjoyed two cocktails with their awarding winning gin and my bf enjoyed a cocktail and a tasting of four. Everything was so good and we were happy leaving with a bottle of gin. read more

I was about to visit a different spirits place when our server at Matrix Winery said he liked and recommended Young & Yonder Spirits. I like recommendations from locals. I would pick 4 spirits for my tasting. The choices of absinthe and amaro intrigued me, but I wasn't sure I wanted to taste them straight. I was lucky enough that there was just enough pour from the lime vodka so I chose lime vodka, gin, bourbon, and corn whiskey. The lime vodka was yummy and would be great for mixing drinks. I really liked the H.O.B.S. gin. It stands for Harbor of Broken Souls. Nice name, but with the juniper taste and ABV at 50%? This would be perfect for mixing since it's a higher ABV. I was so curious how it would taste that I ordered an H.O.B.S. Gin and tonic for my wife. Yep, it tasted great. I'm a whiskey guy and I like bourbon. However, I actually preferred their corn whiskey. Perhaps because it's 80% corn so it was extra sweet. The only complaint I had was that each pour was very little. It's great that they use Glencairn glasses for tasting, but wish they had been more generous with their pours. As a home mixologist, I had a nice chat with the bartender about their gin, their local bitters. It's the great conversation that takes the experience to another level. Buying a bottle would waive the tasting fee? Great. I got that H.O.B.S. gin that I really had my eyes (and taste buds) on! I was looking for a new tasting experience that was out of the norm and stumbled upon this spot! I gravitate towards cocktails when drinking so I was pumped to find that they make cocktails with their spirits on top of the tastings! In my tasting I went with the lime vodka, bourbon, absinthe and amaro. Woah that lime vodka is dangerous! It was so nice. No chaser needed. Could drink that straight. I gladly went home with a bottle of it! The bourbon was nice and smooth. It was my first time trying absinthe ever and I don't think I'm a fan. I don't love licorice flavor so makes sense haha. It also had a spice kick with it. Lastly the amaro was something I have never heard of but was good! Slightly bitter, slightly sweet. A great liqueur for an aperitif! I also ordered the February special cocktail-Ludus. This was amazing! It was their gin, guava juice, lime juice, grenadine and orange liqueur. So good I need to replicate this at home! LOh, I'm so happy we found this place!! Great tastings, great cocktails and great staff!! They staff is so welcoming, very professional and on the spot with drinks. This has to be the best distillery in Sonoma County. Their spirits are great with a personal favorite being the Gin. The lime vodka is so good as is the absinthe. When business owners successfully achieve their dream like husband and wife team Joshua and Sarah Opatz have done so with artisan craft distillery Young & Yonder Spirits in Healdsburg, then they have to be celebrated in every way possible. Located in a warehouse area near downtown Healdsburg with the epicenter of wine country that is Sonoma County as their backdrop, Young & Yonder Spirits produces organic craft spirits and cocktails, which sets them apart from all of the wineries and wine tasting rooms that dot the valley. Started a decade ago in a small warehouse in nearby Cloverdale, the Opatz's began their distilling journey by being a hobby and that interest eventually turned into a passion, learning about distilled spirits production, even though they had careers in nearby San Francisco. In 2017 they would move to their current home, a large tasting room and production facility in Healdsburg, where they continue to innovate, all the way from grain to their bottle by utilizing novel techniques to create everything from distilled vodka, gin, whiskeys, absinthe and amaro that any cocktail lover would enjoy. I had previously discovered Young & Yonder Spirits through a special event that was personally hosted by owners Joshua and Sarah in which we received a tour of their distillery and sat down to a liqueur tasting and pairing event in their massive warehouse space which also serves as a bar and lounge area and thought this would be a great place to sit back and relax with a cocktail in hand before a nice lunch or dinner at one of downtown's Healdsburg's chic restaurants. I finally got that opportunity thanks to a friend who caught wind of another event that Young and Yonder was hosting this past winter in which they partnered with another local vendor, in this case Healdsburg Bagel Company and served two of their fabulous cocktails handcrafted with their organic liqueur that were perfect for brunch. My friend and I were sold when we found out that they were offering when we found out that the cocktails that they were serving were their Irish Coffee made with bourbon, coffee, sugar and cream, and their Bloody Mary Bar which featured either their classic vodka or their lime vodka, and all of the traditional fixings that would make their eyeopener pack a certain punch. Plus they also had mocktails available for those who didn't want to partake in the libations of the afternoon. Clearly we weren't the only ones who were interested in this fantastic event that lured in both club members and newcomers alike as when my friend and I arrived their entire space was packed with customers. But we didn't panic that there would be no room for us, as the staff at Young & Yonder Spirits smartly put out a few more stools for us to put our cocktails and food on, so we could take everything in. And what we did take in were their fabulous cocktails handcrafted down to the detail at their bar area, as my Irish Coffee was a warm delight with enough froth to coated the back of my throat just the way I like it, and my friend loved playing Bloody Mary maker with their festive build your own cocktail bar. These libations were more than enough but we also had three varieties of bagels to choose from as well. Credit for those must go to the team at Healdsburg Bagel Company for putting out such a delightful spread of Mini bagels topped with house made schmear, house cured lox, red onion and dill garnish; Pastrami on Rye with house made rye bread, topped with house made pastrami, deli mustard and pickled red beet cabbage garnish; and my personal favorite their Mini Spinach and Mushroom Knishes made with organic mashed potatoes, caramelized shallots, mushrooms, spinach and served with all of the horseradish aioli that anyone could spread over your entire plate. My only caveat would be that the latter bagel would have tasted amazing when served warmed up. When combined with the Bloody Mary's and Irish Coffees, we were floating in brunch cocktail heaven, much of which had to due to the precise cocktail making that the hardworking staff at Young and Yonder were doing all morning long. But the staff managed to adapt to everything that was thrown their way by even creating some outdoor seating right in front of their entrance to accommodate the amount of people that kept flowing in and out. We were lucky enough to eventually sit down in their chic tasting lounge where brown suede chairs made us feel at home as we continued to work our way through our drinks and bagel nibbles. I certainly hope Young & Yonder Spirits plans more of these events in the future because it was a fun way to be reintroduced to their classic cocktails and lively ambience, and all sold at a reasonable price of 40 dollars a person. One day I will return to Young & Yonder Spirits to savor a Modern G&T, made with their H.O.B.S. Gin, nosh on a variety of peanuts they have, and revel in the simple pleasure of a classic bar snack with a classic cocktail all in one place. read more

Talk about some amazing drinks! This family owned distillery cranks out some excellent vodka and craft cocktails! Although I'm a true lover of wine, it's so nice to be able to have a family owned distillery in this area. It's like a breathe of fresh air. The distillery sits not too far away from the downtown area and has a nice space that's great for accommodating larger groups. I came here with friends for drinks and we were absolutely blown away by our experience here. First of all, the owner's are some of the most passionate and hospitable people that I've met in this business. The owners are a husband and wife (Sarah and Josh) team who essentially started their business in their basement in San Francisco. As they grew more into their craft, they eventually graduated into their current space right here in Healdsburg. Their story was so encouraging and uplifting. I guess it just really goes to show that if you have a dream, you should just follow it. Josh actually comes from a winemaking background, but he always had more of a passion for spirits. And boy does that passion truly show! We decided to do the tour and a tasting while we were there, and I'd say that this was the highlight of our visit. Both Josh and Sarah took us around their distillery and really engaged us in the liquor making process. When it comes to liquor, I'm a light liquor gal. I love my vodka and tequila. Their vodkas were really pleasing to my palate. That lime vodka is GOLDEN! I don't usually drink vodka on the rocks, but I'd sip on that like vodka all day any day! It was just so damn refreshing as were many of their other selections. I'm not really into whiskey, but I have to say that I was most impressed with their bourbon. That bourbon was smooth city! So enjoyable. But the COCKTAILS! Oh Geezus! Just amazing. You will seriously love any and everything coming out of that bar. The atmosphere is so fun! We didn't wanna leave! We could have stayed there all night long to be honest. Kudos to Sarah and Josh for running such a lovely distillery! Been meaning to stop by for a cocktail and check out their offerings. I finally caught up on a Sunday afternoon while running errands. Super cool and laid back lounge areas with a industrial/hipster vibe. A few people enjoying cocktails already as I walked in and immediately greeted with a Hello and Welcome...Very cool. Checking out their variety of mixers and goodies for at home bartending out on display. I sat at the bar while the three ladies working were fun and eager for conversation...(Always a good thing). I decided on a lime vodka cocktail that truly was 'Summer in a glass'...Absolutely delicious. The first time I came to Young & Yonder I saw they had a lime vodka & that little voice inside my head said "No way, a lime vodka???!!!! Stooooopppp!!!!" Now I'm not a vodka drinker by any means, not even as a mixed cocktail but when I took my first sip of this yummy lime vodka au naturel I was hooked! So the next time I went I had to buy some! I mean, who wouldn't right? On this particular visit I brought a friend & fellow Yelper who had been here before as well as my daughter who hadn't. My daughter loved it & even bought everything needed to make a some cocktails back at her home. Cool thing about Yelp is 2 fellow Yelpers saw my check in & joined us.... time to have a party! This local Healdsburg distillery was and is the vision of husband & wife team Josh & Sarah Opatz and what a vision it is! Located in an industrial building shared with a few other business a few blocks off the Healdsburg Square with ample parking. Their warehouse section is huge, spacious, comfy, friendly, inviting....what other adjectives can I come up with? You can sashay on up to the bar and do a little flight tasting of what they distill or you can order one or two of their seasonal signature cocktails. You can also purchase the various spirits they sell along with items needed to make a drink such as bitters, etc. They have their own swag too! Move over Dukes, yes I openly said that as Young & Yonder is a terrific spot for spirits as well as cocktails! I still am curious how I have not written a review for Y&Y yet, but so happy I finally get to do so. I experienced Y&Y a few years back for the first time and was instantly sold. While their spirits are top shelf, whether their delicious Lime Vodka or Bourbon, you can still come for their delectable cocktails. To cut to a key aspect of the review, Josh and Sarah who own the facility are two of the nicest individuals you will meet! I always enjoy having wonderful conversations with them about the business as they are extremely passionate about what they do. Back to the cocktails though as both Sarah and Josh trade off making them, I instantly run for the Sazerac each time as they absolutely nail it, but I hear their other cocktails are quite divine as well. As for the distillery itself, tons of room inside and out as it's on the outskirts of the town square with plenty of parking. I actually love the aesthetics inside as you almost forget you are actually in a warehouse with it's posh vibes it displays. Price point, can't beat it as it matches or sometimes beats other competitors not only in price, but quality and flavor, so huge props to the team for that! Was so excited to find this spot and made an appointment to do a tasting for my birthday weekend! Reservation was at 12 on Saturday 11/9/24. Never got a confirmation except from OpenTable. We got there at 12 sharp and it was closed. We sat around for 20 minutes and the place stayed dark. Nobody is here, no sign of opening. The sign on the door says they open at 12. This is a really bad look. I'm sad because I've heard their spirits are very nice. We learned our lesson--come to Healdsburg for something else and if you have time, stop by here. Having a #pandemicversary means recognizing the places that get you through some of the toughest #stayathome time ever lived through. Young and Yonder is definitely one of those places. They have kefir lime infused vodka that is sooooo frickin' smooth and fresh tasting that there is no vodka bite - only a smooth crisp key lime pie taste that actually is perfect over ice. THAT lovely cocktail has allowed me to breeze through this past year of Covid #shelterinplace much easier. During warm weather I also added limeade and soda water or a dollop of pineapple ginger jam (from Monkeypod in Hawaii) to make a refreshing summer cocktail. Super cool, fun spot that is walkable from downtown. Comfortable vibe inside with couches, bar to saddle up, and even movies and music playing in the background. The spirits crafted here are simply beautiful and all finish clean on the palette. The cute owners, Sarah and Josh, are a budding new family and it's nice to put the face behind the brand to help this company stand out from the plethora available around here for spirit options. They scratch all the basic itches including bourbon, gin, vodka. They also produce a delicious lime vodka and absinthe! From listening to them talk about their process there is a lot of love put into every batch. The base used is a non-gmo organic corn that is used for the vodkas and gin. Interesting to find out they start with the same base but I can tell you those flavors are classically beautiful to the appropriate spirit. The Hobbs gin is lovely! There are juniper notes but it isn't a pine forest; it's not so botanical you lose that herbaceous note. It's smooth with a vanilla-like finish. The lime vodka is a true act of love. All the limes are hand pressed! The flavor is stunning and would be delicious on its on or accented in a cocktail. The bourbon was also delicious and a cocktail was suggested with earl grey tea, blackberry shrub, and honey that I'm dying to try! They were all out of the bourbon I'd have bought a bottle. Instead I walked home with the 2 special spirits, lime vodka and absinthe. I can't wait to explore with these and really savor these beautiful spirits. read more

I've been to countless wine tastings and several chocolate tastings. Cheese, check. This was my first spirits tasting and I was in the right hands. I love a good gin and tonic, I'm starting to get a taste for bourbon and whiskey, everybody likes vodka right? I had no idea how good it could be but at Young and Yonder I found out. I started with vodka, pure and light tasting. It was good, better than what I might normally drink. The next was vodka macerated with lime and wow was that good. Enjoyable on its own or with soda water, you don't need to add flavor with this vodka. Next I moved on to the Hobbs gin and it had so much flavor. I don't think I've have a more flavorful gin ever. Not overpowering, just really insanely good. Moving on to the bourbon I was getting nervous. I've had a few cocktails with bourbon but drinking it straight I still haven't completely acquired that taste. I found the bourbon to be quite smooth. Last but not least I tried the absinthe and at 120 proof it was strong. You could really taste fennel and it was delicious. You have to try the absinthe, it is really good. After the tasting I got a tour where it all happens. They explained the custom stills they use and explained how the alcohol is made, what gets removed and what gets put into the barrels. Then I walked through the R&D kitchen where they try out new concoctions with the various ingredients they source locally. Bathroom break and back to the bar. I had a gin and tonic and it was delicious. I knew I wanted to buy a bottle of the Hobbs gin but this sealed the deal. I also decided I wanted the bourbon but they were out due to demand. They told me earlier they were serving from the barrel and they were ramping up production so sadly I had to leave without it. The flightless bird is refreshing and delicious on a hot day. the staff are attentive and a fountain of knowledge questions about the various drinks and the spirits they distill on site. When you want a cocktail, but not in a dive bar, a sports bar, a fern bar, a tiki bar, or a pub, have I got a place for you. It's not really a bar at all. Welcome to Young & Yonder Spirits, a distillery where they can satisfy your thirst for gin, vodka, and absinthe but better than that - for me at least - is that they can craft a cocktail of unrivaled perfection. The whole "craft" cocktail craze (and associated pricing) drives me a little bit mad as there's so many pretending to ply the art and when said cocktail arrives I'm wondering why this combination of 3 ingredients should have a double-digit cost. I didn't wonder that here as the quality of the offering gave me no pause. My Lime-A-Rita was an amazingly perfect cocktail specimen right down to the temperature of the ingredients. Even though I might be the last to know, Young & Yonder is a real find. The space is immaculate and airy, the owners welcoming and gracious, the service superb, the drinks best in class. At this Distillery they serve spirit flights as well as a handful of cocktails (on rotation) which showcase said spirits. Even better, they feature those cocktail recipes on their web site so you can go home and re-create them after purchasing your ingredients here at Young & Yonder. Truth is though, I don't really want to re-create these cocktails at home. I want to sit in Young & Yonder and be served these ideal cocktail specimens. A-MAZ-ING Seriously, go here. Can't? Find them at an event. We came across them first at the Cheese and Wine festival and figured "oh, just another spirits company with better than average vodka". Wrong. They're amazing. I said that already. Pay attention. We decided to go by their brick and mortar to try their stuff again, and maybe buy a bottle, since they weren't able to sell at the last festival. The place is nice, clean as all get out (guys, spotless bathroom--this is a big deal for me), with neat contemporary chairs, wood, wrought iron, etc. It's large, and I know they can accommodate larger tasting crowds. They weren't busy because it was the middle of the day, which definitely gave us the advantage of being able to meet the owner. When we sat at the bar and ordered a tasting (vodka, lime vodka, bourbon, gin, and absinth) we could see the distillery equipment in the back--clean, organized, well thought out. Everything they offer is insanely smooth, with deep character, subtle but noticeable flavors, and great depth. The owner knows his stuff--from the herbs/botanicals that goes into these, to the distillation strength (he considers how it's going to go in a drink, or how it will be served, and what that would do to the flavor). Everything is methodical and cared for. Everything they make is great. Definitely one of the best kept secrets in the spirits world of NorCal, especially considering their excellent prices. Young & Yonder is a cocktail-centric must for anyone seeking a reprieve for their wine fatigued palate. Family owned and operated, the vibes are at once laid back and sophisticated. At $10 a tasting or cocktail, the price is also hard to beat in a town renown for fine (and expensive) food, wine, and lodging. On my most recent visit I tried the Pink Lady -- the perfect balance of juicy fruit and refreshing airiness. The beau had a Green Beast, a simple but well crafted Absinthe experience involving lime juice, simple syrup, and a deserving splash of water. The retail experience is also worth noting. Although bottles of booze sell for nowhere near top of the market prices, the quality of the alcohol (seriously, not every distillery is confident enough in their product to serve vodka at room temperature) and production value of the marketing and labeling make every purchase feel like a bargain. Wine and spirits can be a dime a dozen, but Young & Yonder offer a boutique experience, excellent flavors, and hometown hospitality that is difficult to match. read more

I was really glad I had a chance to try Young & Yonder on our latest trip to Healdsburg. We had dinner with some friends who live in Santa Rosa, and they mentioned this distillery as a place to try since we were staying in Healdsburg, just up the road at the Best Western Dry Creek. I was able to try their Rye Bourbon as well as an Old Fashioned made using that same Rye Bourbon. They had a vodka, gin, and absinthe available as well, but I really lean towards Whiskeys or Bourbons as a personal preference. If my wife would have gone, she probably would have sampled their vodka or gin. I really enjoyed my tastings, and would recommend it to others who like alcohol and well mixed cocktails. Highly recommend this unique distillery experience a few blocks from downtown Healdsburg. Think craft distilled spirits with a twist. They have a 4 spirit tasting for $12 (waived on purchase of a bottle). Unique are the lime vodka (our favorite), absinthe verte and California Amaro. The absinthe has a lovely forward licorice when ice is added and is a perfect aperitif. The lime vodka is best straight up, might be one of the best infused vodkas we've ever tasted. They also offer a variety of snacks and a long list of bespoke and seasonal cocktails (invented by the owners). The space is light and airy and you get a personal view of the elegant distillery equipment. The day we went the owner Josh was there and he took the time to walk us through the starting and evolution of his business. The staff was highly attentive and kind. I didn't think it was possible, but Young & Yonder has made a gin lover out of me! This tasting room in Healdsburg was such a cool discovery. Obviously, when you mention Healdsburg, you automatically think about wine. But Sarah & Josh Opatz, the millennial husband/wife team behind Young & Yonder, are now putting craft spirits on the Sonoma County map. Located in a warehouse district just a few blocks off the Healdsburg square, this craft distillery boasts a very comfy/sexy bar + tasting lounge. They offer "spirited" tours/tastings Monday - Wednesday (by appointment only), and then I believe they're open to the public Thursday - Sunday 12pm - 6pm. In addition to their spectacular H.O.B.S. (aka Harbor of Broken Souls) Gin, they pour/sell vodka, bourbon, and absinthe. I've never been an absinthe fan, so I can't speak to its merits. But I was impressed with their Stave Robber West Coast Bourbon (according to their website, it's a 5-grain recipe that creates a wonderful balance of grain, malt, and oak character. Aged in 15-gallon new American oak barrels for slightly less than a year, it is then blended with similar aged casks and proofed down with our four times filtered water). It's very easy to drink, and would be perfect to use for a Manhatten or Old Fashioned cocktail. Speaking of cocktails, Y & Y mixes up some doozies at their bar. Highly recommend their Lavendar Bees Knees and their delicious take on an Irish Coffee. All in all, this is a fun, cool spot for Cocktail lovers. And Sarah & Josh couldn't be kinder, more welcoming hosts. This dynamic duo is serving up a unique array of spirits without all the SF pretense. We hosted a private event at Young and Yonder for our Welcome Reception for our Wedding. First off- the drinks were INCREDIBLE. We had a few picky guests and they proceeded to purchase bottles of alcohol because it was so good! Second of all- Sarah and her husband were so supportive and flexible throughout the planning and hosting process. Planning a wedding, let alone during a pandemic, is challenging. This is a true gem we found! They usually don't do tastings on Mondays, but when we called to make a ressie, they were soooo nice and accommodating and allowed us to come in on a Monday! Josh helped us out, and even though he was busy with other things, he let us hang out and enjoy our tasting. We tasted their lime vodka, their gin, their rye and their bourbon whiskey. They have two more spirits to try as well (I think it was an amaro and an absinthe). Everything was delicious! Their prices are very reasonable and they have a nice selection of bitters and other boozy goodies to purchase. They open to the public from Friday through Sunday, and serve cocktails as well. The room is very spacious and pretty and cozy. We will definitely be returning with friends and to try their cocktails!! It's awesome to have this distillery close by!
