First of all, we decided that no one is cooking for Christmas; we will be going to find a brunch, lunch, or Christmas dinner, and this one popped up. I've been looking at this spot for a happy hour for a very long time, so I said, win-win, let's go, and it's not too far away. The price for Christmas Day Brunch is $95.00 per adult, and children 12 and under are free. Children 12 and over are $45. They had a good selection of meats and plenty of seafood, including oysters and shrimp. Salads and tons of side dishes, we bought a bottle of sparkling wine. Service was good, especially since it was a buffet, and we had a server for questions and assistance with drinks and wine. The feel is modern with large windows, clean lines, and lots of warm woods. The restaurant is lovely, the food was good and the service was excellent. Our reservation was at 5:30 pm and we were seated at 5:20 pm. They were serving a dinner buffet. We were really looking forward to having crab for dinner. They were completely out of crab at 5:25 pm. This is a huge mistake by the chef to not order enough crab. (One of us doesn't eat red meat.) They still charged us $95 per person. Seems to be that they should have discounted the meal for everyone who wasn't able to get the featured item on the menu. The vibe is old-world charm. Lots of woods and rich colors. After some confusion with my reservation, I was seated for dinner. It was Thanksgiving and they were busy, so I'll give them some grace. It was buffet style, which I didn't mind. I had the fennel, apple salad with pomegranate seeds, mashed potatoes and gravy, chestnut stuffing, winter veggies, and the turkey. The turkey was juicy, and the carver gave me extra skin at my request. For dessert they had pumpin and pecan pie, a chocolate/ raspberry tartlette, abd macarons. Visited for dinner on a Saturday night with a reservation for 6. It was busy but we were seated within minutes. The atmosphere was nice with high ceilings a stocked bar in the center and it was clean. Our server was engaged, friendly, and knew the menu and drinks like the back of his hand. At my request he convinced the the bartenders to make the spiciest margarita of my life (I have a high spicy tolerance so this is not for everyone), and they really delivered. It is now hands down my new favorite drink. We brought a nice bottle of wine we had purchased earlier at a winery and they found us a decanter to let it air in which was top tier service in my opinion. The food was all spectacular, everyone was very happy with what they ordered. I particularly recommend the croquettes, deviled eggs, and Brussels sprouts. The ambience and the decor was promising. Tone at the moment we entered was off and short. Even though we had a reservation. We sat in one of the booths by the door. Server asked for our full order because they had a large party. Our food came out fairly quickly. See attached photos. We asked for fresh ground pepper and the bus boy brought us diner table shaker pepper. It got weird because then the server came and we talked about it. She seemed to think it was fine. Then she caught on and pointed to the mills at the host stand. She asked if she could get the pepper after it was too late. Another delicious date night at Spoonbar on a recent warm, late summer night! I'm so surprised by the mediocre reviews. Every time we dine here, the service is friendly and attentive, the menu is familiar but updated with fresh seasonal items and ingredients, the food is delicious, and the drinks hit! He had the burger with truffle fries...always a good idea! We love that dish, and we're so glad it's a staple on the menu. The fries are divine! I dare you to eat just one. I usually order a fish dish but wanted to shake it up and tried the BLT. It was substantial, and a fork-and-knife type of sandwich! We both got margaritas. And we left stuffed! read more

I am updating my review to reflect an unfortunate and unfavorable event that occurred on Thanksgiving day. I was told when I booked the reservation their ala Carte menu would be available. Both people in our party have Celiac disease. When we arrived we were told ala Carte wasn't available and that they had items on their buffet menu we could eat. The waiter spoke with the chef; the chef reviewed the menu and circled items that were safe for us to eat. They also had menu cards in front of the dishes indicating if the dishes were gluten free. To our misfortune, some of the dishes labeled gluten free, had ingredients containing wheat. Some of the items listed on the menu the chef and waiter indicted would be GF, were not; they too had wheat in them. We tried eating what we believed to be wheat-free and ended up getting sick anyway. We advised the manager of our experience before we left. She said she'd speak to the chef. She did not comp the meal and told us we were being very nice about the situation. I called about a week later to let her know 1 of us was sick for 3 days, the other for 5 days from ingesting gluten; most likely due to cross contamination of the food. The manager offered to send me a gift card in the amount of the price we paid for the Thanksgiving dinner if we'd like to give them another try. Never received a gift card. We will not be going back as we can't be sure they'll take our dietary needs seriously. read more

Very tasty and juicy burgers and modern styling atmosphere. I was rather disappointed to know that they use canola oil instead of olive oil on the salad dressing. For a modern day restaurant, they should be very self-aware about the seed oils out there, and that people who are higher echelon on the food scale don't like cheap oils in their salads. It tells me the chef doesn't necessarily look at the distinction of taste, but the economy of using a cheaper oil and a salad mix. Salad: tasty, as expected. Risotto: decent, maybe a tad overcooked. Best entree for sure was the duck confit! Yes, that won the night. Service was pleasant but not standout. The "new" Spoonbar is the best restaurant in town right now! A great new chef, staff with a great attitude , and a refreshed space. It has been a while since I last visited to dine here and how pleasant this visit was. I was very cool to see how popping it was for a Friday night, I have not seen it as busy so that is great. Service has always been great, and was again. Their cocktails are always fabulous and this time was not exceptional. For dinner we had the three dips to start and this was a very large plate and was very tasty. For main we had the asparagus that was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We had the whole Bronzino and again, this was perfectly cooked and the flavor was excellent. Certainly recommend, but do book if wanting to eat prior to 8, after that you can probably just walk in. The chicken wings were fantastic and lime-y, the sparerib & black trumpet mushroom gnocchi was rich, buttery and yummy, and the scallops with peppers were delicate, flavorful and fantastic. All the food is plated beautifully, and the chef really knows how to pair flavors and textures. Perfect for a date night (we went for valentine's dinner the night before), or for drinks and appetizers (i neeeed to try the "girl dinner" caesar salad and fries combo... next time!). So had to flag him down to get the only glass). Overall he was short with us, spent a lot of time with younger patrons. As a senior felt discriminated against; like he couldn't bother with us. Lamb Shank was drowning in sauce on a bed of Polenta. We ate here on a Friday night. The front of the restaurant was brightly lit and busy. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, in a quieter, dimmer area. The doors to the outside patio were left open so it was a little cold, as well. Best to request sitting in the front area. We were also seated at a table that was sticky and stil had smears from the diners before us. We had to request it be wiped off. Our server was a very nice young man. He didn't have any suggestions from the menu, and he also kinda laughed when we asked if there were any specials for the evening. Being served did take quite a long time, and our server apologized for that. Our dinner was surprisingly very good. We enjoyed the wings--rather spicy but very tasty and a large serving. We also chose the scallops and risotto entrees. Both were very good, well presented, and large portions. Overall, a good experience. If I ever ate here again, I would just request a table up front. Went to Spoonbar tonight for the Wednesday night "fried chicken + fixins" special. Outstanding. Started out with a big hunk of bread with rosemary and a butter glaze on top. Delish. With a Seismic Tremor Lager on tap. The bib wedge salad was great and a large portion. The fried chicken (three pieces) with biscuit and some kind of dipping jelly and broccoli was delicious. Mega stars for character, personable staff, and rhythmic ambiance. Who doesn't love a classy, retro, and fun bar lounge? Considering it was New Year's Eve, Spoonbar was open and a beautiful spot to go out with friends before the ball dropped. They have cocktails and mocktails for us NA drinkers. The presentation was tops and the friendly staff was even better -- the bartender even took our group photo. I will be back again to explore the plethora of items on their menu. Had an extremely mediocre meal at Spoonbar this week. Kitchen was running out of an item we ordered which turned out to be a blessing, just the look of it on the table for my dining partner turned my stomach--the consistency of the item turned his. The service was good in some ways but in others very strange. The salads were very nice! It's a pretty space. I wouldn't come back. So we decided to have an extremely untraditional thanksgiving holiday. We left the family and decided to travel Healdsburg for a romantic getaway. Since this was a last minute decision we were unable to make a reservation, but we showed up at 6pm and we found plenty of seats at the bar. Cheyenne was our server and she was fantastic. It was a set menu with delicious choices. The portions are quite large, but I'm happy because the food was amazing. Started with the endive and beet salad however I was first served the tuna sashimi. It was a very happy accident. I didn't have the best experience at a couple of other places, but this was melt in your mouth amazing! They also brought me the salad so both great. Honestly I would have been great with just that, but since it was a set menu I also ordered the steak (tastes very good the next day also. ) My boyfriend started with the cauliflower soup, bursting flavors, creamy texture we both fought for the spoon. For his main he ordered the pork chop. Again, fantastic flavor, just a very large portion. Great location, exquisite service and flavors that will bring us back on our next trip. read more

This is a follow up to my last Spoonbar review. It was a 180° turn around! What a great experience we had. Absolutely amazing. The food? Top notch. Who would have thought the Brussels sprouts would be the hit of the table? They were perfectly cooked and so fresh tasting with the lemon (?). I want that recipe! Every dish was so good it was either completely consumed or boxed for home. We were so stuffed we declined ordering dessert but a plate of cookies arrived and well, we managed to find room for those! The service? Could not have been better! Attention was paid to every aspect. Drinks were inquired about. Jordan was "near" but not hovering. And she never once asked if we were still "working on that?" (One of my personal pet peeves.) She asked if we were enjoying our meal. Were we complete? So refreshing and professional. Chris, the bar manager, was cordial and so apologetic about our previous visit. It was refreshing to have him recognize how unhappy we were and not try to make us wrong. The room wasn't nearly as cold, but the weather has warmed up. It's a very large open space and I can see how that is a nightmare to heat with the floor to ceiling windows but they need to come up with some kind of remedy when it gets cold again. We were so grateful for their response to our first review and inviting us back as their guests. We will definitely visit again. We chose SpoonBar this year for Christmas dinner. It was a good choice. We were seated at a nice table in the larger dining area and lucked out with having Marci as our server. Holiday decorations were simple and lovely. The Christmas Day menu offered choices of both appetizer and entree, with a buffet of desserts to end the meal. We got to try all the desserts! The bartender made me a perfect Sazerac for starters. Both the hamachi and the chicory salad were quite nice. I enjoyed the beef and my daughter enjoyed the halibut. Good choices. The highlight was our server. Marci was attentive without hovering, she was professional and warm. I appreciate her and the rest of the staff for working on the holiday so others could dine out. The worst dining experience I have ever had. It was so sad being that it was Christmas Eve and wanting to have a nice dinner with my family. Literally, everything was epically terrible! We waited for 20 minutes for someone to come to the table, then after ordering waited at least 30 minutes for our wine. First course they forgot to give a spoon to my mom for her soup- we had to get up and go to the bar to get it. Main course came COLD! My flat iron steak and steaks of my mom and dad were cold, chewy and inedible. Waited forever for dishes to be cleared - so couldn't even get dessert- way too long of a wait. I forgot to mention there were two bugs in my dad's beer lol! I dine out a lot in Healdsburg and have eaten here at least 7 times in the past. This is the worst I've ever experienced. It was 96 degrees on Saturday for our 5pm reservation to find they had roll up doors at their bar open which flows into the dining room. We asked for a table furthest from this area but we had to deal with flies during our meal. The staff was amazing and tried to be as accommodating as possible. I would recommend not ordering the calamari misto, very bready and very few pieces of calamari vs veggies. One of our party ordered the dry aged steak and had a large fat cap and gristle, the restaurant made that right. I don't think I would return. read more

I think there is a genre of restaurants within the orbit of wine country that charges wine-drunk customers substantial money for a product that might not match the price tag. If such a genre exists, this restaurant is an exemplar of it. The vibe and general ambiance of the establishment is nice. The dining area is spacious and the general décor is aesthetically pleasing. Problems first became apparent when it came to service. It look a long time for wait staff to visit us, and more often than not, they brought us something for another table (not just once, but several times, including after we had clearly finished our meal). They also knocked over the wine glass of one of the members of our party with little more than an apology and some extra napkins (I was expecting a complementary glass of wine, if not a bottle, but none was offered). What they did bring us was not earth-shattering. My cocktail some tailor made business with Scotch and it was just not very good (it lacked balance such that it was both too Scotchy and too sweet). My entrée (the salmon), my gf's entrée (the burger) and the appetizers (prawns) also generally lacked flavor. All in all, I was dissatisfied. read more
