Celebrated my partner's birthday at The Matheson. The service was excellent, the owner even stopped by our table to wish us a happy celebration. Cocktails and dinner were both amazing. The whole place was buzzing on a Friday very crowded. A very fun place to have dinner when in Healdsburg, we will be back!

My wife and I have eaten at The Matheson and Valette a number of times and we have always enjoyed chef Dustin's food and their overall hospitality and vibe. On Sunday we attended a special Crab & Seafood Boil afternoon event on the roof and it was terrific as always. We started with a number of passed small nibbles (included among the servers were the chefs two young daughters!) and the winners were the crab salad and the smoked salmon with caviar. They poured one of the Valette white wines and it was bright and crisp and a perfect accompaniment. The highlights of the lunch menu included a lovely perfectly dressed Cesar salad w white anchovies, a shrimp boil with corn and potatoes, a high quality smoked meat charcuterie board from nearby journeyman butcher shop and some lovely roasted garlic bread and the reason for the whole event was the local Dungeness crab roasted with a dusting of old bay. The crab was da bomb and I could have easily tried to stuff even more in my mouth if they kept the crabs coming ! The meal ended with various chocolates and cookies and we were stuffed, highly satisfied and glad we attended this special event ! Looking forward to many more delicious opportunities to dine at The Matheson and Valette ! Highly recommended

Was surprised to be seated immediately at a counter overlooking the kitchen. Love watching the food come out. Was give 46 different menus for all the different things. Ok it was like 6, but still, thats a lot! Had a few different servers help me, which was nice but also a little confusing on who my actual server was. Yvette ended up being the one to help for the rest of the meal and she was awesome! I ordered the 6 Oz filet. Beautiful presentation. Perfect cook, but was unevenly seasoned and (for me) needed the accompanying sauces. The bed of mushrooms and shishito peppers were a nice addition. Chimichurri and XO was super good. 12/10 good. The bernaise sauce, for me was meh. For dessert, I ordered the Matheson Float. I ordered mine with the rum shot, strictly for research purposes, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Overall a fantastic meal, great service, and an inviting atmosphere. See you again soon!

I had a reservation since it was Valentines Day. I was sat at what they call the "Chef's table" though it is just the bar around the open kitchen. Still nice though. My waiter was very attentive and friendly. First course, I opted for the caviar upgrade. Pillowy soft belinis with creme fraiche, unagi and a jar of caviar. Next was the hamach crudo, followed by celeriac soup, then petrale sole, brown butter filet with truffle & a fried shitake mushroom. Dessert was a chocolate dome with preserved cherries and white chocolate snow. Everything was extremely flavorful and well prepared. I will fine here again.

Beautiful night. The Matheson provided an exceptional dining experience, with a beautiful patio that feels both refined and inviting. We ordered the, Black Sea Bass, the Matheson Burger, Lettuces Kohlrabi, Lamb-Rack Braised leg, Cheese Curds, Frites and for dessert Affogato. From expertly crafted cocktails and starters to stunning main dishes, every aspect was thoughtfully curated and presented. We were especially impressed with the attentive service which complemented the overall atmosphere. It's was a wonderful night for our aunt and uncle visiting from Placerville.

Vegans/Vegetarians beware- you're not welcome here! I've been going with my husband since the opening of Roof106 and The Matheson and have given consistent feedback that the prix fixe menu (requires 2 person minimum-unfortunate for a date night) and ad hoc menu options are discriminatory to vegetarians/vegans since I like more than a salad or broccoli pizza. Cesar salad can't be made vegan. It's also not fair to my dining guests that want to do the Prix Fixe menu that they can't because of my dietary restrictions. After consistently ignored feedback the takeway message is Chef Dustin does not care.

Total surprise date night gem--we had no idea The Matheson was a Michelin-starred spot when we walked in. We just grabbed two seats at the bar in the middle of the Healdsburg square and had one of the best nights out. My partner ordered the Modern Margarita (el tequileño + tapatio blanco, clarified lime), and wow--we were both blown away. It was crystal clear and somehow incredibly smooth. We'd never had a clarified cocktail before, and it totally set the tone. I stuck with a dirty gin martini and then a Manhattan, and both were next-level good. That martini was super dirty but still perfectly clear--mind blown. Easily one of the best I've ever had. Food-wise, we started with the maitake mushrooms--tempura style with house kewpie and spicy sesame. They came out looking way more dramatic than expected (in the best way) and totally delivered on flavor. We had also ordered the Matheson Burger (wagyu, raclette, caramelized onions on the side) and split it. Perfectly cooked, super juicy, and rich without being over the top. We came in thinking it was just a casual dinner spot and ended up having a Michelin-level experience--without even realizing it. 10/10 would go again for a special night out or even just a really good drink at the bar.

The ambiance of this place is wonderful and so was the service. Our server (didn't catch her name) really made the experience and the owner even overheard us talking about a birthday as he was walking by and stopped to chat with us about it. 5 stars for service/hospitality but for me, the food was lacking. Everything was very over salted (not seasoned, salted) I felt like I had to down half a glass of water with every bite. Two people in my party shared the tomahawk (I believe it's listed as like 35-40oz) and we were made to believe it would feed them and THEN some, but they finished it still hungry as a majority of it was just inedible fatty pieces. We did have a later reservation, so maybe it was a one off experience. But I would go again for the service alone - just not get the tomahawk lol

    Dungeness Crab Linguine

The Matheson is such a great place for fine dining. We have the chef selection and really enjoyed the Dungeness crab linguine, which was so unique. The bone marrow and toast was a very surprising dish that tasted so good and yet so simple. The tuna tartare was as good as a sushi spot. Overall, there are no bad dishes - here everything is delicious. This venue is definitely upscale with a young and chic crowd, as well as a more seasoned professionals visiting the area. Definitely worth a try and a stand out in the area.

Amazing 2026 Valentines day experience. We enjoyed every item on the tasting menu. $165 per person plus automatic added gratuity. The filet mignon was my favorite. We also had a white linen which was amazing. Service was great. Adam did a wonderful job. Ambiance was very romantic. Dim lighting with a great choice of music.

Love this place! Such a great brunch over the weekend, excellent roof top bar for cocktails, and amazing dinner downstairs if on a date night! Amazing wine list. A must if in Healdsburg.

Loved our experience here. Great big modern happy ambience. Service was great, staff were nice and friendly. The food was very tasty. The appetizers were very flavorful (foe gras & mushroom). The pastas were fresh and the sauces were super flavorful. Churros for dessert, loved it.

Modern restaurant with a classy vibe. Reservations were easy to make online. Service was great but sometimes hard to find our waiter. The cucumber salad was very refreshing with the pickled onions. We got the steak and the skate. Both were really good and flavorful and cooked well. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for good food and good vibes!

Can you make a table reservation just for drinks?

Not for the (ground floor) Matheson dining area, but you CAN reserve the Roof 106 (which, of course, is on the roof of the Matheson) for drinks (although the food offerings are pretty decent, so don't hesitate to dive in).

Does Roof 106 offer happy hour?

Our server Akayla was super patient and fun, she explained the history of the winery and told fun stories about the owners. The place was clean and organized. They knew exactly what they were doing and I am so impressed with the hospitality! The quantity of food you get with the food + pairings option is not enough for a meal, but perfect for a snack. We were told the lunch dishes are the same but bigger portions. My favorite dishes from the tasting was the Brick Cooked Chicken and the Chocolate Lamington Dessert. My favorite wine was not one that paired with those two, but it was called Elate Grange Cuvée which was a red blend. I was considering the wine membership but what attracted me the most was not the wine but the food + wine pairing experience. So although I didn't sign up to be a member, I will definitely come back as a customer! I want to bring my parents next time for either lunch with pairings or the food with pairings option.

Then it was on to the entrees, I had chosen cassoulet, a favorite of mine and it arrived hot and aromatic with a nice hunk of sausage and a confit duck leg. The portion was generous and the beans were creamy and flavorful, my only complaint would be that they were a little heavy handed with the salt. My wife went with the trout which arrived with beautiful asparagus and a tasty sauce but alas it was a little undercooked. They replaced it with a perfectly cooked piece and she was very happy. We both loved the crispy skin on the trout. Finally we both went with the Mille feuille for dessert and it was a wonder, light crispy pastry with lemony custard and cream. Overall good experience, we will likely return.

The food though was disappointing. The most interesting item was the clams that came in a cava broth with garlic and parsley. They brought some toasted hearty bread to soak up the sauce. The baby kale salad was also nice with shaved fennel and manchego. The other three dishes were both off and a bit weird. The cauliflower came with bacon, which was good, and sweet dates; the dates were an odd addition and they stuck to your teeth. The calamari, was prepared well - it wasn't chewy - but it just had an off flavor, or at least one I haven't experienced before. Same too for the octopus. This was a much larger portion than typical - two tentacles, plus potatoes and olives. The octopus though was rather mealy. Small Spanish red wine list; only four. Tried two and neither were our favorites. The 1970s-80s classic rock soundtrack was an odd choice for background music.
