The service was great, but the food was...well, strange. For example, we ordered the tuna and it had clumps of seaweed, jalapeños, some kind of cream dollop and olives on it. I mean, I get the seaweed but the whole thing together was a bit odd. And the pork belly bites were cooked perfectly, but they were coated in this chipotle powder that didn't really fit. Based on pictures I'd seen on Yelp, it looked like this was a new direction on an app they have served before with more of a sauce on it. Then the one appetizer that I didn't think could be messed up was the grilled artichoke, but it was way over cooked and oily. Maybe the entrees are better than the apps? Maybe the regular chef was out sick? I don't know but I won't likely be back to find out. read more

As the Kincaid fire burns through Sonoma county, it's making me reminisce about all of the fun times that I've had there. Spoonbar is definitely filled with lots of those fun memories. Spoonbar is definitely the spot to be if you're craving for a relaxing and elegant dinner or a fun nightcap with delicious cocktails at the bar. Either way, you're sure to have a fabulous time. The food is most certainly stellar, but I have to admit that I've mainly come here for the drinks! The cocktails are truly amazing here. While you can certainly find a nice bar in the area that will make some pretty drinks, none of them will be as beautiful and as delicious as that of Spoonbar. When you talk about getting some good cocktails in this area, their craft is just simply unparalleled (sorry Duke's!). Just the preparation alone will keep you completely entertained as you sit at the bar and relax. And, they seriously have something for everyone here. Their cocktails change and they often bring in really fun and festive seasonal cocktails which are always fun to try. Aside from the cocktails, the atmosphere is also what's so attractive about this place. It has an upscale feel without being overly bougie. The service is wonderful and the bartenders are a BLAST! There is never a dull moment at that bar! Also can't forgot to mention that they have a bomb ass happy hour from 5-6:30 DAILY! Now, that's what I'm talkin' about! If you're a coffee snob, they serve that good ol' French Press... and in a TEA kettle! Bahahaha! But seriously, people go gah gah goo goo over that damn coffee! Make sure you save room for dessert and get their BEIGNETS if they have it on the menu! They serve a non-traditional style beignet with blackberry sauce and a white chocolate sauce. I am visiting the area for my birthday week, and was very excited to eat at this restaurant on my birthday because of the reviews. Unfortunately, this was a less than desirable experience. The server was dismissive to our table and did not seem pleased about helping us. My friend mentioned to him twice that we were there to celebrate my birthday. Spoon bar is a nice modern establishment that offers amazing service. We arrived at 5:30 on a Wednesday and we were the first people there and were able to pick where we wanted to sit. The staff were very attentive, and I did not have to lift a finger once to pour my own water. My dining companion ordered the New East Side and the Niman Ranch Smashburger, which he reported to be delicious. I tried the fries and "tomato marmalade" and the truffle was very evident in the fries giving a strong umami flavor that went really well with the tomato sauce, which was basically fancy ketchup with a small kick. (If you like Sir Kensington ketchup, you'll like this even more). I ordered the fried chicken and was delighted to find it came with two drumsticks (and two wings). I thought it wouldn't be enough to fill me up, but it was the perfect amount. The chicken had a thick crispy skin that was well seasoned with what I can only guess to be a curry spice. The chicken itself was very moist and the Joe-Joes potatoes were perfect- nice and crispy on the outside, and super soft on the inside. The sweetness of the honey biscuit was an excellent little compliment to the saltiness of the fried chicken. I was not too keen on the salad though... but overall great! read more

This was our 4th or 5th visit where the previous meals were kinda meh. However, this past Friday we had a wonderful dinner that competes well with other fine dining restaurants in Healdsburg. We had loads of seafood, some uncooked (tuna tartare) while others not. They all tasted fresh and presented well. The service was great! This is actually a 3.5 star establishment for me but what made me decide to go with 3 instead is probably just that the service was great and the outdoor area was nice as well but the food was not that memorable to me. For some reason, everything tasted a little under-seasoned. Presentation was nice though and the cocktails were also great. I do love the ambiance of the indoors (very modern and clean) and the outdoors was great just because it is expansive and spaced out. The only gripe I had was that the outdoor furniture just seemed a little cheap in relation to the prices of their food and the decor that they had inside. This is a big place so I'm sure you'll be able to get reservations to this establishment if you wanted last-minute dinner reservations in the Healdsburg area. With that said, there are probably a couple of better places to go to in my opinion. read more

This restaurant is underrated!!! We came here after a drink and app at another restaurant and were not sure what to expect. To set the stage, we had decided to come up to Healdsburg on a whim and did not have any plans set up in terms of reservations. Our hotel concierge was able to snag us a last minute table here and I am so glad it worked out. We brought our own bottle of wine and for entrees ordered the Mary's Chicken and Fillet with Crab. Both were incredible. I am dying to come back to try more of the menu. I'm so glad I was able to dine here during my trip to Healdsburg. I'll be honest, I feel as though I'm kind of a modern California cuisine snob, my favorite restaurant being Foreign Cinema in SF. But this place really did hold its own. The service was excellent, really friendly and our server was amicable and joked around with us and gave us some great recommendations. I ordered the duck which our waitress recommended I pair with their house Syrah, which was perfect. This duck... was literally crazy. You know when your food is so good you barely talk to anyone else at the table? That's what I was experiencing. It's been a while since a dish has done that to me. Giving it 1 star for the food and 5 stars for the service. My wife and I went there for an anniversary dinner when we were visiting Santa Rosa. It was very hot out and the restaurants AC could barely keep up. If you run hot or its hot outside (it was 100 that day), you may not be comfortable at Spoon Bar. I ordered a lamb loin, medium. I received a lamb loin that was rare, if not black and blue. I had to send it back. When it came back again it was still overly rare but I was so hungry I found a portion that was cooked properly and ate that. Worse, the loin had no sauce and no flavor. I had to ask for salt (the restaurant is so fancy they don't put salt and pepper on the table). We didn't complain at the restaurant but the manager pro-actively came over and expressed regret I had to send the dish back and comped our appetizers. Where do I start... we were lucky enough to get the last reservation on Saturday night at 8:30pm. Even this late into a long day of service, the staff was super welcoming and the food blew away expectations. I was sad that the duck was sold out for the night, but I ordered the Mary's chicken. When I say this chicken was so juicy, moist and delicate I mean every word. The chicken was one of the best bone-in breast and thigh combination in recent history :) Not to mention it was put on top of homemade pesto, gnocchi, fava beans and mhmmm oh BACON. Incredible combination and truly will be back to try more of that menu. I wish this had half stars because 3 stars seems too low, but 4 seems too high. We had a reservation for 6:30 PM on a Saturday night, but we were free at about 5:30 PMish and stopped by to see if they could accommodate us for an earlier time. They were able to get us seated earlier, which was really great so we didn't have to waste an hour or so in downtown just for our reservation. Food was pretty good, service was slow but okay, but mostly could have done without the huge rat that ran across the space between the outside tables where we were eating and the back entrance to the restaurant. I had the 12 hour braised lamb shank, Brussel sprouts, and sparkling wine. Lamb shank fell right off the bone and was pretty good. Brussel sprouts were a bit over cooked, but still good. My friend had the curried cauliflower steak, which she enjoyed. I didn't see our server for a bit, and I did ask another server for some more of the green sauce that came with the cauliflower steak though because they were a bit stingy with it on her plate. They then brought her a good sized little container of it though and she was able to enjoy her food with more sauce. Unfortunately, then a huge rat ran close to us and we def could have done without that. I come from a big city, so I get it there can be rats, but the restaurants usually do something to make sure they don't come near the restaurant, particularly at eating times. Feel like maybe it's time for them to either clean the outside a bit or get a professional in to help them if they have rats running around at prime dinner time (around 6 PM at this point) in front of customers. Not the greatest feeling in your tummy for a fairly pricey dinner. Also, didn't really care for some of the snooty clientele that were staying at the hotel. This one guy walking with his dog outside stopped by our table to chat for some reason and was so snooty talking to us about how his dog only gets fed filet mignon and other steaks and whatnot. Loved the dog - super cute dog and the dog could have stayed, but could have done without the human attached to him. Idk really what they could do there. Maybe separate the spaces where the hotel and restaurant are a bit more somehow? Overall, will likely skip this place the next time I'm in Healdsburg. read more

We came here while in town for the weekend because people said their drinks were delicious. I would agree with that! I got the cucumber Collins and it was fabulous. The food wasn't as phenomenal as the drinks. We got the macaroni and cheese but the noodles were extremely Al dente... the cheesy taste was good but hard to eat. The Brussels sprouts were really good though and caramelized and roasted! We got the pork belly appetizer that had a lot of flavor. I could probably eat an entree full of it. I also got the iceberg salad which was just fine. It tasted mostly like apples and very little like blue cheese so as long as you are prepared for that going into it then you will enjoy it. All in all, I'd go back for the atmosphere and the drinks and I'd give the food another shot for sure. There are many positives such as an amazing menu with a variety of food and drinks, it's a beautiful and serene restaurant, and it's good for gatherings since there are many seating options and preferences. The dessert is one of my favorites and is my go to. It's probably the best olive oil cake I have ever tried. I love that the whole check in process is smooth and that everything is brought out within a reasonable time. Also I recommend dining outdoors as it is super cute and spacious plus perfect for taking pictures. Generous portions, playful cooking style with flavors that delight, plate presentations that are works of art. Attentive service. Cheerful staff. Wednesdays, all wine-by-the-bottle is 50% discounted. Bang for the buck, this is one of the best restaurant in northern California. I take that back, regardless of price, this restaurant makes some of the most satisfying food I've had in a long time. Even compared against recent meals at places where the prices were up to 4X higher. It's still hip and trendy looking but this spot has slipped in the cocktail scene from what it once was. I went last night for the first time in a while and was pretty disappointed. On St. Patrick's day too the vibe from the bartenders was mellow, not overly friendly, and honestly kind of boring. There was more energy from the hostess than at the bar. Drink menu is ok; again not what it was once. Maybe I caught an off night, but I'd think the in the drinking world that last night should have been an "on" night. This place is so cute. The burger and truffle fries are so good. My kids got the fried chicken and they also liked it. My husband got the Iceberg Wedge salad that tasted okay. The place had a very nice ambiance, good for date night. Service was great, especially during COVID times considering how hard it is to hire staff. I would give 4.5 stars but figured I would round up. It's funny someone else mentioned in their comment that a guy walked up to them with a super adorable dog and struck up a conversation. One of the best places I've been to in a long time and it was a total happenstance! We were looking for last minute reservations in Healdsburg, and the first two restaurants we wanted were booked up. Spoonbar was the only place that had reservations left that evening, otherwise we might not have considered it. I am SOOO HAPPY we ended up at here. Everything was immensely delicious. Oysters were the best I've had, even more so then when I had them straight from the source. The Burrata though! I'm not usually a fan as it tends to be smoky or served with items/flavors I'm not keen on, but this one blew my mind. Their burrata turned me into a fan, I have come out of the darkside, and who knew it would be the combo of the bread and the preserves that accompanied! The Halibut was also excellent and another best I've ever had, still dreaming about it daily... When it comes to cocktails, let me tell you, I'm constantly on the search for the best Manhattan in Sonoma County and most places disappoint. Spoonbar is the exception! I've spent years trying one here and there, nothing ever came close to John Ash's Front Room Manhattan, until now! I'll need to revisit both places in a shorter time period to decide who is the winner, for now Spoonbar is tied for number one! Honestly, I'd make the drive out there just for the Manhattan after a long day, and I'd end up staying for the Halibut! A must try restaurant! Worth all 5 stars! read more

There was a high top table right next to the main bar that we snagged. One of the bartenders brought us a drink menu and I knew right away I wanted to try the 3:10 to Yuma. My friend opted for a Front Porch Swing. We both enjoyed our drinks very much. They came out beautifully garnished and were delicious. We had a very nice dinner here almost 2 weeks ago after some wine tasting that afternoon. It's a nice little spot with seating open to the outside, which was nice. It's pricey for sure, but not unusual for that area. We thought the deep fried artichoke was delicious and it came with a tasty aioli and a pesto. My husband got the pork chop, which was enormous and he said very well cooked. It was very thick. The side of mac and cheese was delicious. I had the burger, which was also enormous and delicious. The one thing that stuck to me about restaurants since I was 8 and my parents took me with them to a fancier French restaurant was this: the French restaurant was very different from the Jungle (our better version of Chuck e Cheese). Now you're reading this and going: "well, no shit, you weren't a very smart child, were you..." No....no I wasn't. But it does go back to a key point I learned from this (when I was older and thought about it). And that is when someone sets up a place of business, they set it up with a target clientele in mind. Then we have to take into consideration that we personally may not always BE among that target clientele. Case in point, that fancy French restaurant with quail egg and bone marrow and escargot wasn't exactly trying to cater to an eight-year-old Chinese-American girl whose idea of a good dinner was the freedom to eat AND run around at the same time. So long story short, Spoonbar is one of those places that is frankly boujie as fuck and meant to aim for a crowd who are boujie as fuck. It sits beneath an eco-friendly hotel; the building is actually quite interesting to look at, and before we were going to eat at Spoonbar, I had been talking to my mom about how interesting it would be to live there. Spoonbar is suppose to act as both the hotel's restaurant and bar. Nobody was there at the time (we weren't allowed back there), but in the back of the restaurant, you can see couches and chairs meant for lounging. With the giant round bar/desk that sits between that lounging area and the restaurant, it's not hard to discern that it's aimed for guests to sit there with a drink to chat with other guests. We were in Windsor for a weekend vacation and were looking for dinner. And...may have gotten lost. And then parked in the wrong parking lot. And then got off the car, left the parking lot, and then crossed the street BEFORE realizing we were about a mile off. Oops. So we decided just to eat at Spoonbar, because it was RIGHT THERE. The first thing I noticed was the spoon display. It was very beautiful, what with the water droplets causing the spoons the clink harmoniously. And really, I think that pretty much sets the precedence for the entire restaurant. Yeah, turns out, the large, round desk the double doors led us to wasn't the right place. Rather than seat us themselves, they pointed us to the front to the guy who was in charge of the seating. So, awkwardly walking through the restaurant, we got to the front and the guy told us to "come in and we'll seat you". I thought it was kinda hilarious, considering we were more in the building than he was. Appetizers were delicious and filling, savory and salty. The chicken wings were especially delicious. In particular, I like the fried brussels sprouts, which were VERY salty and personal experience says that this would go GREAT with a glass of wine or any kind of alcoholic drink. I couldn't at the time, but I'd recommend ordering something off the drink menu. Actually, everybody in my family was quite pleased with the appetizers. It was the entrees that we had problems with. I had the sweet corn ravioli and I thought it to be completely charming. The display, placement, delicacy, and color stood out to me and were very memorable. Taste wise, it was divine (especially considering I had a delicate stomach at the time). Eating each pasta whole, it was savory and salty on the outside with just the right amount of chewiness before you got the refreshing, light burst of sweet corn filling. So, yes, I was pleased. And my mom did like her fish with the sauce, which they poured in front of her. My dad, on the other hand, is a big eater. Yeah....if you've looked at any of the pictures, you can see how this doesn't quite work out for him. Though, to be fair, his two pieces of chicken were dry as fuck. It was better for me when I dipped it into my remaining pasta sauce. Afterwards, we had to go to a hot dog place for him to get more food because he was still hungry. Many of his complaints mirrors what you'll find in Yelp comments. Too exotic, too fancy, too expensive. He's just not a big fan of the whole delicate plating or small portions on big dishes thing. To a certain point, I agree. It IS pricey and the portions ARE small. Ultimately though, this is one of the restaurants meant to be an EXPERIENCE, a PERFORMANCE. What should happen is that you gather a bunch of friends who you're looking to having a higher-end drink and meal with. You make a reservation and get yourself seated to the side of the restaurant where they have the loooonngg wooden table. You order your drinks (many, many drinks) and just ALL THE STARTERS. MULTIPLE of each starter. Because that's your main meal. You eat and chat and then the entrees come and it's the big reveal~! From start to finish, it's about the performance and the ambiance. And really, that's what it comes down to. That's their target audience and the kind of experience they're selling. read more

A Great Disappointment. My wife and I went there for its Moroccan Night. The menu looked good, the descriptions of the food on it were very intriguing but the actual food was tepid, it was barely lukewarm. The Moroccan menu is several courses and each course was swimming in some flavorless oil. The only thing we kind of liked was the cracked barley soup but again, the flavorless and therefore unnecessary oil. Her chicken was cold, dry, and overcooked, the tomato sauce on my cold goat pasta was like something out of a jar and I was expecting some nice shredded meat like in a birria but I got some overly ground goatburger. To top it off, the establishment isn't upfront about its pricing and adds a BS 3% fee to it. read more
