Had a great experience here when I visited. I sat outside with my wife and, while we enjoyed the food, the service is what will keep us coming back. The team there were personable, attentive and genuinely cared about giving their guests a great experience. We enjoyed the Caesar salad and calamari for apps, the teres major steak and fried chicken for dinner and then the lemon cheesecakes and peanut butter chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Our child is still just a baby but this restaurant is kid friendly but is still a good venue for couples looking for a date night. The only complaint I would have would be the people smoking outside of The Big Easy next door. read more

We ordered the caprese made with heirloom tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella, garnished with beautiful fresh basil leaves, the twist was drizzling a sweet basalmic vinegar instead of olive oil. Talk about happy tastebuds. Our main dish was a beautiful salmon fillet prepared perfectly with just a hint of lemon rubbed on, and presented on a bed of shelled brussel sprouts lightly roasted. The coup de gras was the dessert: a slice of peanut butter and a flourless chocolate cake. Luis recommended a sangiovese for my wife and she enjoyed it immensely. This restaurant I would proudly recommend to all my friends. I would have rated it higher than a five if I could have. read more

You can hear kitchen noises over the 1960s rock music in the corner speaker (Monkees' I'm a Believer; Mamas & Papas' CA Dreaming). Outdoor seating. For the restroom, you go outside and across the way to the back of the Big Easy venue; it's dimly-lit until around 6-630pm when it opens for the eve performance. Tacos were tasty. I was with my friend, who had a couple of rounds of a different beer, along with the Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta. One star for the food, not that it was bad but the way that they handle business overweigh their food. I came here for Sunday brunch after a long morning of kayaking and I thought everything was fine. I always take pictures of my receipts for this specific reason, and I don't make it a habit to tip waitstaff on my card because what they do with their tips and the IRS is none of my business. I went ahead and left them a cash tip and wrote "cash" on the tip line, when I got home, I checked my account and noticed that I was charged $4 more than what my receipt showed. I contacted them Tuesday afternoon and was told that a manager would be calling the following day. I called back Wednesday around 4:30 because I hadnt received a call and was told by the manager (Victoria I believe she said), that she saw my note from the previous day and the only way to give me the difference would be if I went in and picked up cash from them. Well, I dont live in Petaluma so that wasnt an option. I told her I would just dispute it with my bank and since they were acknowledging what happened there should be no reason for them to try to fight it. She agreed. She mentioned that she was going to talk to "the girls" to make sure it doesnt happen again, huh?? So they're in the business of just adding additional tips on cards? This place wont be getting any business from me. If you decide to check them out please check your accounts afterwards. read more

My partner and I came in on Sunday around 11am! The first red flag should have been that it was completely empty and we spent around 1 hour there and only one other couple came in during that time. We were on our way to a restaurant around the corner but the wait time was about 1 hour and we saw a sign saying the speakeasy had brunch. This place was smaller than expected but I love the outside seating area. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The hot chocolate tasted like water The chicken and waffles was not good at all. In the picture you can see just about how much I ate, I ended getting food somewhere else after. The waffles literally fell apart in pieces when I picked it up. The chicken was similar to the chicken you get in the prepackaged Caesar salads. I tried my partners dish and it was bland and honestly just not good either. He did finish his dish because he was very hungry. I will not be back, this place has good reviews and I'm just very confused. Had such a lovely brunch at speakeasy and would highly recommend it! Very delicious and affordable for a downtown petaluma spot. Staff is always great and their food is consistently good day or night. Their outdoor area is dog friendly and the atmosphere overall is welcoming and cozy. A great downtown gem on all levels! My chicken and waffles came, I put some butter on the waffles and it just sat there and never melted. The waffles were lukewarm at best which was extremely disappointing. It's too bad because the fried chicken breasts were very good, tender and juicy with a crisp lightly battered outside. In their defense I was too hungry to complain; I ate everything without saying anything about the waffles. My wifes burger and fries was good, nothing special. My husband got biscuits and gravy, which he said was amazing. I tried the pork gravy -- really tasty. I opted for the taco trio based on other Yelp reviews. My favorite was the coconut crusted plantain. I've had lots of brussels sprout tacos at a few other places, and these are "healthier" -- which could be good or bad, depending on what' you're looking for. I always get the vegan tacos, they offer 3 - maybe 4 that can be made vegan. And I can never remember which one was my fave, so I always end up ordering one of each - every time. This is a very small restaurant in Helen Putnam Plaza (across from the Petaluma Pie Co.). There are a few tables inside alongside a large bar. There is also seating outside in front. The decor is a little funky but that's okay. The food was very good. I tried everything that was ordered at our table and it was all very flavorful and hot. My mother ordered three tacos (salmon, plantain and short ribs). I was doubtful about the plantain taco but it was it was surprisingly good choice. My daughter ordered the creamy chicken pesto pasta, which was very rich and creamy - not much of a pesto flavor. I ordered the short ribs with polenta. The polenta was very creamy and was some of the best polenta I've had in a long time. The short ribs were boneless and had a very unique flavor that I enjoyed. The portions were decent and the prices are good here (compared to the typical restaurant downtown). It's a very small place, so the bartender is also serving the tables. Our server was attentive and friendly. If it's a cold winter night, be sure to wear a jacket inside. It was not warm enough inside. I'm not sure if they had heaters outside. I enjoyed my meal at the Speakeasy and will probably return one day. NOTE: Apparently, this business is connected in some way to the Big Easy which is on the other side of the Plaza. In fact, if you need to use the restroom, you will have to use the one at the Big Easy. The Big Easy is a small music venue. I believe that they serve food there too. read more

I noticed that Speakeasy was open later so I called to see if they could accommodate a party of 6 and they could. We sat outside next to a heater while live music from The Big Easy bellowed into the courtyard. We were all quite surprised by the excellent quality of food. We started out with Papas Bravas which everyone loved. My cousin got the pasta dish and she said it was excellent, not a single pasta shell was left on the plate. I ordered the salmon and Brussel sprouts and it was the perfect healthy meal I was craving. The service was great. It was sort of neat accessing the bathroom through the music venue next door. I asked for no bacon in my food on the door dash website and I called Speak Easy and spoke to a woman who worked there and she assured me she'd flag the order and make sure there was no bacon in my food. Having seen others reviews and photos I was let down. Disappointed and felt cheated as there was not a spec of any real "lobster" in it or even any taste of lobster. The bacon made it decent along with the sauce. BIG DISSATISFACTION with the false advertising as the "lobster" was just chunks of fake imitation crab. Menu or server should specify this as imitation crab giving persons the option to not have it. Probably would have tasted better without the fake imitation crab. Should call it imitation lobster Mac or just remove the word lobster period. Or offer what is real lobster. Been there gave it a shot & probably won't be back. read more

Good food and good location! For the sake of transparency, the last time we were to Speakeasy was this last summer, so if some of the details are outdated, that is why! Speakeasy is located in Petaluma's Putnam Plaza Park right off Petaluma Blvd N. The park is tiny, but in normal times it is a place of gathering for locals and visitors. Speakeasy id one of the three or four businesses around the Plaza and they have a patio that faces the park/plaza; therefore, those who sit there can enjoy shade and watch the foot traffic and yet be far enough to not be bothered by too much car traffic noise. During our last visit, we had a couple local draft beers and tried their local cider they had on the menu that day. It was so good that we got a growler to go! We also tried a few appetizers, including their hot chicken wings; delicious! Speakeasy burger was really good as were the tacos. The staff were on top of their game and did an awesome job to make our visit a very pleasant one. read more
