We've been there many times with our Petaluma family and the food is good solid typical Mexican food with large portions & tasty quesadillas, tacos, tostados, & an especially enchilada plate with 3 different sauces, sliced avocados & a huge cooked vegetable side that was worth the whole meal. The service is efficient & friendly. I recommend this place for families, friends &/or relatives. They love feeding children here. I can always tell if the food will be good by judging the salsa they bring out with chips in a Mexican restaurant. This salsa was a def 10! Very spicy, maybe not for everyone but my party of 3 loved it!! My only complaint was the tamale. Too thick and not enough filling, like chicken. A little dry also. We came in time for their happy hour menu. The house margaritas were perfect! We ordered the nachos with carnitas and a chicken quesadilla. Both had a perfect amount of meat with tasty guacamole. We loved the salsa that came with the chips when we first sat down. It was nice and spicy. read more

Came here for Taco Tuesdays! Additionally, they have happy hour menu as well. No salsa bar here, but excellent service and they serve fresh chips and salsa. Tacos were spot on. They don't have any grilled peppers, turnips or grilled onions with it. The meat was a bit on the dry side. Quesadilla was also on the dry side, but they provided guacamole with it at least. Great location, good food, okay service. We've been to this location dozens of times since moving to Petaluma and have always enjoyed it. Their meats (for tacos, burritos, etc) are excellent. For sit-down Mexican food, the prices are reasonable, but there are better and cheaper options in town if you don't mind eating outdoors or in your car. The location, of course, is quite central to downtown and easy walking distance from most places. Parking can be tricky, especially during peak times, but we always go straight to the Keller St Garage and just walk a couple blocks - it's much easier than stressing out looking for a spot on Kentucky. Service has traditionally been pretty great but on our most recent trip, it was pretty average - long wait to get our order taken, asking for things (salsa, chips, etc) multiple times, etc. The restaurant was maybe 25% full when we dined so who knows. The kicker is that there is now a 3.5% fee to use a credit card. I'm sure it mentions this somewhere on the menu (we didn't see it and didn't look for it because it's never been a thing before), but the prices on the menu are the CASH prices. Unfortunately, I feel that's quite deceptive. Other restaurants will offer a cash discount but the price shown is the price paid for all other forms of payments. To top it off, the recommended tips printed at the bottom of the receipt are calculated post-sales tax so be aware of that if you use it as a guide to calculate your tip. I love supporting our smaller Sonoma County chains, but pricing transparency is extremely important to me. With other options in town that have better food, are cheaper, have better service, and that don't charge junk fees on top of their menu prices, I think it'll be a while before we visit again. read more

These guys know their way around a kitchen! The service and the food was top notch, so why only 4*? The first table we sat at was so slanted I don't know know how a glass of water could stay on top of it, the second one we sat at was a booth and one side was so narrow one of us had to suck in our tummy! A group of us was in Petaluma shopping and decided to eat somewhere downtown. We found Mi Pueblo el Centro and looked up the reviews. We were greeted and seated quickly even though they were busy. We received water and menus equally quickly. Our wives split a Chile Relleno and enchilada with rice and beans combo. The food showed up nice and hot. The burrito was good but not great. Some of the chicken was really dry but most was good. It's really difficult to keep chunks of grilled chicken moist so the "not great" part was due mostly because it did not have much flavor to it. I could not really find any real spice flavor in that said, WOW. The wives loved their chile relleno and enchilada. I tried the chile relleno and thought it was really delicious. Oh and don't forget to try the small salad on the plate. It was different and really good, just the right amount of sweet/sour flavor. After our meal, a staff member dropped off our check without asking if we needed anything else or wanted dessert. A missed opportunity as I really like dessert. I wanted the flan but they were out of it. Oh well, next time. I would return to Mi Pueblo el Centro when I am in Petaluma. Great service! read more

Have been going to this restaurant for 20 years. Tonight was great service however they got a to go order wrong. Went up to the counter to fix it and they were so busy worrying about the door dash orders they did not slow down to hear what my request was to change the order. Got the order back came home and all that was done was the food was stuck in a new tin. Order macho burrito and no ranchero sauce, no extra sour cream, no extra ranchero sauce. Just a dry burrito. The one that was wrong had sauce on it, pico and sour cream. Called to let them know and I felt the guy got offended. I said you all are going also fast that maybe slow down for others and listen more carefully and who just spent $200.00 to eat there. Will continue to go there, just was disappointed. read more

Stop by for a quick dinner. Ordered the burrito and the seafood stew. I could not believe how much seafood was in it. Scallops, fish, shrimp, octopus and crab. Two legs and a whole body. The broth, carrots and potatoes were a great combination to the seafood. Super grilled chicken burritos was full of meat. Margaritas had a nice touch with a dried lime. The flavor was good, it was a regular burrito with beans, rice and grilled chicken. My go to lately has been fish tacos, but they did not have an aioli, and I couldn't get myself to eat a fish taco without it . At the end, my friend wanted to get the flan, but they were out of that. We were in town for a street faire and stopped in for grub. Estimate was 40 mins but it took 20 to get a table. Chips were crispy but not salty and the salsa was flavorful but not real chunky. We entered the restaurant at about 5:30 on a Monday night and saw about four tables with customers. It filled up during the next hour. Service was quick and friendly. The food was hot and very tasty. I had three chicken taquitos that also came with rice, frijoles, a generous portion of guacamole and sour cream. My wife had a chimichanga with carne asada. We could only eat half of our dinners because the portions were large. But we're old! Now we have dinner for tomorrow night! Our check came quickly after we asked for it, and we certainly did not feel rushed. The ambiance is relaxed with some fun interior details, such as small patio covers over some of the side tables and nice murals. We'll return. read more
