Nothing like warm beer and cold tacos. First time here, I've heard SO much about the taco truck so I was excited. I don't like writing negative reviews...buuuut we waited 30 minutes for our beers, the bartender literally poured our beers and set them down by the taps and proceeded to start taking another large party's order without handing them to us, pretty odd. So my boyfriend stood there trying to get his attention with no luck. He finally came back to the table and went by up to try again a few minutes later. Somehow managed to get them. To make things worse we had to wait an hour for our tacos. The staff walked by us numerous times, but never checked in with us even after sitting there for an hour. We had to go up to the counter and ask if they hated us or something, only to realize the order was never put in. Well, we're assuming they weren't put in, they never actually gave us an explanation. They just scrambled around and 10-15 minutes later we had our tacos. I'm pretty sure the Swedish Chef is running things in the kitchen. You'd think they'd comp something after all that....nope. Tables are nice, but seats are on uneven hills so if you are short good luck. Service is okay, could be more welcoming. Should provide separate area for people think everyone wants to be around their dog. Because I don't want to eat where a dog takes a piss. Quesabirria are crunchy not traditional soft, but tasty. They were packaged great, we ordered BBQ, lemon pepper, buffalo & honey garlic. Fried just right, very tasty. Not too much sauce or seasoning. The ranch dressing was yummy. Came in mid-day and the place wasnt that busy. We were told to order at the counter, which was fine at a not so busy time but I couldn't imagine ordering there when its busy. Bar staff was nice and the wait time for our food was a little longer then it should have been. Quesa birra grilled cheese was pretty good but you do have to order the consume separately. I was really looking forward to the asada fries and they were just ok. I think using queso on them would be a much better option. The cheese they put just hardens up and it doesnt make for very good fries and they are $20 !! My husband and son had a couple of shrimp taco that they liked but said for the price they would of like more than 2 shrimp on them. Hopefully they take people's reviews into consideration and try to improve some of these things. It definitely wasnt to worse meal ive had but im not sure it was enough to bring me back. read more

It's always great to see a food truck sprout roots! It feels like a sign of success and things done right (way to go!). I'm also a sucker for al fresco dining, so when I heard that Galvan's Eatery had opened next to the Cotati Oliver's Market, I was excited to give 'em a try! The menu is short and simple (tacos, quesadillas, etc.)... Ordering is walk-up... but somehow this doesn't feel like a taqueria. I'm not 100% sure why, but the important thing is it is DELICIOUS! They have a killer taco Tuesday deal and sitting outside under the sun with a few crispy tacos and a cold beer felt very right. The highlight: The Crispy Pancho taco. A really nice quesabirria taco with 2 fat, succulent shrimp added into the mix. It's the perfect surf-and-turf bite. Tacos are served with the traditional radish and seared serrano chili... magic! The service was friendly enough, but just OK. You will have to order twice if you want a drink, as drinks cannot be ordered from the host stand where they take food orders. They also only brought out half of my order, which meant my lunch company spent the second half of their meal eating alone while I waited for mine to get sorted. Not a big deal, but with such a straight-forward menu and a sparse lunch crowd, it felt odd. All in all, I will certainly be back! So glad to see this terrific location get a new face, and who can say "no" to a melty, crunchy taco and fun music under the sun? Not me. read more

Wish I would have tried Galvan's a long time ago when they'd pull up to Parliament Brewing in their trailer. Now that they have their new location in Cotati and it's been a short time since they opened, I figured I'd check em out. Tons of outdoor seating to enjoy good Quesabirria tacos and brews on a beautiful sunny day with a few TV's to keep up with your favorite sports team. Chicken tacos were juicy and the salsa is spicy and had a build up the more you consume it, so beware. Quesabirria tacos are on the smaller side but really flavorful. Galvan's in Cotati is the perfect spot to hang out with your friends, be it in a small or large group, there is a lot of space. Seating is first come first serve, you order at the kiosk by the entrance & are handed a number to take to your seat for your food to be brought out to you, then you order your beer/drinks at the bar. They have a nice variety of local craft beer on tap & they offer a few N/A beers & sodas as well. The food is good, my go-tos are the crispy pancho, the quesabirria & the shrimp grilled cheese. Aside from that the rest of the menu is not my fav, prices are quite high for what's considered Mexican street food. But overall a great place to hang! read more

What a long wait for food that was mediocre at best. Galvan's Eatery's menu offers tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and specials, but on the evening we came, everything was crossed off the menu except tacos. We thought, ok, that's fine, it's a football night, so guess tacos are the easiest to make and hardest to mess up. I ordered 3 shrimp tacos, and my husband got some regular tacos. The wait for our food was about 30 min, if not longer. Another disappointment was that all you could taste in the tacos was CHEESE and nothing else. On top of that, they only give one small half-filled cup of salsa per order, regardless of how many tacos you get. Overall, the tacos are overpriced, the wait is long, and the taste is unpleasant. I have giving this space multiple chances, I want to enjoy it, it's a nice place close to home. 1st experience- I brought about 40-50 people to celebrate a birthday and the food took forever to order and to come out, over an hour to get food. but to top it off, we had a entitled waiter who wanted to throw some of our kids food away and yell at us to "get the fuck out" and to have us write a yelp review. he was rude the entire night to our group and it was a bunch of families with kids. another night, it took 45 minutes for us to go up to the bar to ask about our food. bar tender askded my number then asked for our open tab name.... then told me we were the next tab up and it will be out soon. waited another 15 minutes. manager said it only took 15 minutes for our order to come out.... well that's because it was just submitted after waited 45 minutes. I understand mistakes happed but to take no accountability for it is another problem. Food is good.... but the customer service, accountability and system been a lot of work. read more

I had the taco with shrimp and the taco with a mix of shrimp and birria. Both were delicious. It came with a roasted jalapeño and some spicy avocado Crema. Both were a little too spicy for me so I didn't use, but the tacos were delicious. In addition it was Taco Tuesday and they were discounted. There was hardly anybody there which was nice. I love the outdoor atmosphere and it's great for a nice day. There's plenty of umbrellas and coverings to provide shade. I guess really the only thing I don't care for is the fact that you have to pay twice. Once for your beverage at the bar, and once at the entry counter where you order and pay. You should be able to get your beverage and order food all at one place. I did ask and they are both the same business. I'm sure they're trying to separate alcohol with food, but a good POS system should be able to solve that when ordering. I will definitely return as the food was very good. read more

Looks like a violation of California SB 478. California SB 478 gives restaurants exactly one way to charge a separate mandatory fee: put it on the menu, clearly, with an explanation. It was not on the menu. That's not a policy disagreement, that's a statute. A sign that I didn't notice doesn't cover you on this. The location of this place is great! Easy parking out front. The atmosphere inside is so fun. Lot of tables! Chill vibe. They put pop up tents and umbrellas for plenty of shade. Tables were big and clean. But we ordered at the bar which was weird, it seemed they didn't have enough staff to man the order table. That's fine, but no one knew where the line was, who was in front or back, it was just a cluster of people not knowing where to go. Drinks were flat, ended up having to get a bottled soda. They kept filling up more and more drinks out of the same flat soda machine for people that they hoped didn't complain. Food came out pretty fast which was nice. Service was friendly! Food was mediocre. I ordered 3 tacos, 1 of them was a crispy taco. None of my tacos were crispy so left wondering what one was supposed to be crispy and wasn't, or if they just didn't get the order right. This is a Mexican restaurant that doesn't have chips on their menu. But don't worry, you can get some dry, flavorless frozen French fries. I'm not sure how you can make french fries dry and inedible but Galvan did. Their quesabarilla taco was really good! But their chicken taco was unseasoned, chicken and maybe s&p at best. They included salsa, but it was so watery that the water just gushed out the side of the taco and back on to the parchment. We really wanted to like this place but we will not be returning. I've been a longtime customer of Galvan's, so I was excited to try the new restaurant when it first opened. I initially gave it some grace, assuming the rough experience was just due to it being new and still getting things dialed in. However, after returning, it still doesn't seem to be where it should be. The ordering process requires you to walk up each time, which makes it feel more like a food truck experience than a full restaurant. There are also small touches missing--like chips and salsa--that you'd typically expect. I also tried to offer some constructive feedback to the owner, but it didn't feel very well received. On top of that, the guy who comes around to pick up glasses wasn't very friendly, which took away from the overall experience. I really want to see this place succeed given my history with Galvan's, but there are definitely some areas that could use improvement. read more

I came to eat at the restaurant recently for the first time and the first thing is saw when i walked in was a puppy walking on a table i thought to myself "gross people eat there" and then seconds after it PEED ON THE TABLE I then saw the owners of the dog letting their puppy drink water out of the cup licking all over the cup i don't care if the cup gets washed after that is disgusting an employee witnessed the dog on the table and didn't say anything!? Also the service was weird again it was my first time i didn't know if we sat myself or we order first then sit. I stood by the register for 10 minutes waiting on an employee. Employee wasnt clear on if i sit myself or i order first. It seemed she was still trying to figure out how it works.
