Jumbo shrimp

I would rate this place a 4.5 but I rounded up. The service was great, the oysters were yummy, and it was a really nice place. We got the The Plateau. It came with eight raw oysters (soo good), tuna crudo (very bland - no flavor), anchovy toast (tasted like anchovy pizza), four jumbo shrimp (very jumbo), house smoked trout (tasty), and ceviche (better than I expected). My husband and I shared this. We needed something to hold us a down for a bit which was just enough.

Went there with family and truly enjoyed the place. The oysters were fantastic and very fresh.

This is my favorite restaurant in Petaluma. The hotel that it's located in, Hotel Petalumua, is also very historic and charming. I stayed here recently during a family trip and we dined here twice (almost a third time). The service was friendly and quick and the space was cozy. We came around happy hour, which was a nice bonus. We ordered quite a bit for the table since we were all hungry from a day of traveling. Raw Oysters - These were from the happy hour menu at $2, which is super reasonable considering how much oysters are in major cities. We ended up getting 2 dozen of these for the table. It comes with mignonette sauce, cocktail sauce, horseradish, and lemon wedges. From dining here on different days, we found that they have different oysters for their happy hour. All were super fresh and well-shucked. Clam Chowder - This was delicious and one of the best ones I've had recently. The soup was very balanced, had the right amount of clams, and the perfect level of creaminess. On our second visit, we got the bread bowl, and the bread was amazing (also from Della Fattoria). Della Fattoria Bread Basket | Grilled Della Fattoria bread served with garlic confit, olives, tomato and cilantro - This bread is so tasty and so is the confit you dip the bread in (Della Fattoria is a local bakery that you can also dine at). Caesar Salad | Little Gems romaine, parmesan, anchovies, and Della Fattoria croutons dressed with house anchovy Caesar dressing - This was super fresh and exactly as you would expect from a Caesar salad with anchovies. Miso Butter Baked Oysters - These are amazing! I like these even more than the raw oysters (which is super rare for me). My favorites were the Miso Butter, I've never had anything quite like it. It's topped with masago, which adds a nice touch. On our second time here, we also tried all the other baked oyster flavors and everyone's favorites were Miso Butter and Rockefeller). Fish Taco Plate | House made corn tortillas stuffed with pan seared rock cod, house coleslaw, lemon creme fraiche, salsa verde, and pickled veggies - These were super tasty. We had a member of the family who wasn't as keen on seafood and he loved it. I tried a bite and it was very good. The garnish and sauce complemented the dish well. All in all, I had a great time here and would definitely be back the next time I'm in Petaluma. The happy hour is very popular, so be sure to either make a reservation or come early. Parking may be tricky if you're not staying at the hotel and are dining here during busy meal times because it's mostly street parking. Quick tip: There is a parking garage across from Petaluma Market that's about a 3-minute walk from here. By the way, there aren't elevators, at least not to my knowledge, so please keep in mind if you have anyone in your party that might have mobility difficulties (you can still park on the first floor).

Always incredible food and great service. Wine list is good. Dining room is lively. The mussels and clams are one of my favorites. The seafood Tower is awesome. The Tuna Crudo was delicate and rich. The Anchovy Toast was bright and tangy while crispy and buttery all at the same time. Perhaps my favorite of the night was the Poblano BBQ Oyster. Great flavor profile!

Happy hour menu is perfect for sharing and sampling!!! Tried the fish tacos, calamari, fried oysters, canned squid, cauliflower and an array of sauces!!!

Asked around for the best spot to grab some oysters. A friend suggested The Shuckery and boy did they deliver. It a small little spot I. A building attached to a boutique hotel. The service was fantastic and fast. The oysters were prepared to perfect and the taste was perfect. The menu has a lot to offer the halibut dish that my wife and I split was fantastic. Give this spot a chance if you are close.

The food, the drinks, the service, the vibe. Petaluma is such a jewel. Fantastic experience. Super nice employees. Ambiance was king.

What a menu! Only had happy hour but EVERYTHING was delicious. Lots of seafood and a bit of land options. Visited two nights, all of the crew was on it. Helpful, quick and observant. Place was a bit small. So most often reservations are required.

Seafood Cocktail - Shrimp and Crab Claws

This is a cute sea themed resturant attached to the Hilton Tapestry Hotel. There is not a lot of seating available inside, but you can sit throughout the hotel and they will serve you. They have a full bar that is inside the hotel lobby. The staff were all very friendly and extremely attentive. We came for Happy Hour and ordered two items, the Seafood Cocktail and The Shuck's Ceasar Salad. The seafood cocktail shrimp and crab claws were good. The cocktail sauce was bland, definitely would like more horseradish added. The Shuck's Ceasar Salad was fresh and crisp! It was a nice addition to get a sliver of anchovy on the top. There was not too much salad dressing that overwhelmed the plate. Overall, both of these dishes were decent. We stayed at the hotel and they allow you to charge your food and drink to your room. That works out great since we received a daily food credit.

After all my years in Petaluma, I had never tried The Shuckery. I always assumed it was mostly about oysters, and since I'm not into oysters, I never really considered it. I also thought it might be more of a bar than a place for a proper meal. I didn't realize they actually offer a variety of fish dishes--and I do enjoy fish because I'm not a meat eater. So we finally decided to go and sat at the counter. Our waiter, Chris, was friendly and straightforward. I was pleasantly surprised by the clam chowder--it was light and flavorful, not the thick, heavy kind that's hard to eat. You can also order it in a bread bowl. We liked the fried cauliflower although fried food was not a good choice for an evening meal, it came with multiple sauces, including a Korean BBQ sauce. The Della Fattoria bread came with a spread on a plate; it was tasty, but I was expecting a bit more to it. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everyone there seemed friendly. At one point, a group even came in caroling Christmas songs, which made the evening feel especially festive. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and we will certainly go back.

I visited The Shuckery in Petaluma, CA [100 Washington St] on Saturday, 3/1/25, around 4 PM. I made a reservation (highly recommended) through OpenTable and was seated immediately upon arrival. During my dining experience, I coincidentally came across the Happy Hour menu (3-5 PM). I was informed that the fresh oysters were $2 each. As far as the food, I was able to try the following: * Oysters (Willapa Bay, Washington): These particular oysters provided a light briny, sweet flavor profile. They were extremely fresh and enjoyable, especially paired with the Cocktail Sauce and Mignonette Sauce. * Clam Chowder: Straightforward and tasty. * Ceviche: I appreciated the light spicy kick with the peppers and the inclusion of rock cod fish. The acidity of the dish was perfectly balanced. So delicious! * Calamari Mixto: Fried and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was delectable. The inside of the restaurant was clean, modern, and beautifully decorated. The staff members were kind and welcoming. The Happy Hour deals were nicely priced for the food. Overall, I had a phenomenal dining experience at The Shuckery. I recommend visiting this restaurant.

Great seafood Happy Hour, honestly one of the best we have enjoyed in awhile! It's pretty rare to be able to enjoy a whole seafood menu part of a Happy Hour! We ordered a round of beer, 2 dozen oysters, spiced tuna pate, and ceviche. Everything was so delicious we ended up ordering another round of 6 oysters and the tinned smoked oyster platter. Highly recommend this place to get your seafood fix! Customer service was on point and super friendly and helpful with recommendations. Service was quick and personal. This establishment is connected to a hotel so it was a nice hole in the wall with lots of foot traffic. They played a bunch of 70's oldies hits as background music so it was a nice and laidback ambiance inside.

What we ordered: -Fresh Seasonal Shrub (3/5) -Whiskey Sour (3.5/5) -Raw Oysters (5/5) -Single Baked Oysters - Rockefeller/Butter Miso (4.5/5) -Ceviche (4/5) -Clam Chowder (1/5) -Fries (4/5) _ We visited The Shuckery for their daily happy hour, which runs from 3-5 PM. Since they were fully booked for happy hour the day before when we tried walking in, we made sure to reserve a table this time. We sampled a variety of dishes from the menu, but the standout items were definitely the oysters--both raw and baked with miso butter. They were absolutely delicious, and we ended up ordering over a dozen raw oysters! Unfortunately, the clam chowder was a bit of a letdown--it was bland and lacked that rich seafood flavor we were expecting. The service was quick, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. The restaurant is also connected to a charming hotel, which is worth checking out for its cozy vibe. Overall, I'd definitely return for happy hour--especially for the oysters!

Yes they do!

We visited the distillery next to Hotel Petaluma around 8 pm with a group of six (family, including my dad and uncle). Most of the patrons inside were white, and our waitress was an older white woman. From the moment we walked in, there was visible irritation about our party size. When my uncle picked up a chair so we could sit together, we were met with looks and attitude instead of any help. The overall vibe was cold and dismissive, and it made us feel unwelcome and judged. As a Mexican family in a room where nearly everyone else was white, the way we were treated felt targeted and uncomfortable. Whether intentional or not, the service came across as biased and unwelcoming. It's just really unfortunate, because this is a place we've supported for years. We left feeling embarrassed and upset, and that's not the experience you expect from a place in hospitality.

After seeing the menu, my number one choice was the beef Wellington, second choice would have been the Bijou Burger. My SO wanted the Oxtail, but was thinking of an appetizer that would be just right. so the Trout Dip was chosen. This was a half processed fish and half avacado packed into a bowl. Scooping both halves was the best of both worlds. The dip was smooth and great flavors, I would get this again. Then when the entrees came out, and we started eating, half way throught both items were quite heavy and we started to feeling full. The beef Wellington was cooked to a medium consistency, the crust as still firm and mushroom filing great. The oxtail was so tender, it falls off the bone. A different flavoring but fantastic. We ended up taking the oxtail home as it would be diffcult to reheat beef Wellington. No room for dessert. The atmosphere is calm, inviting, and thoughtfully arranged, with well-spaced tables and a comfortable bar area that makes it an ideal spot for happy hour cocktail--something I especially appreciated since they honor happy hour at the tables as well. Bijou is led by Co-Chefs and Co-Owners Stéphane Saint Louis and Steven Vargas, who have created a truly memorable, approachable French-inspired dining experience. Chef Vargas was present during our visit and took the time to speak with us, which always elevates an evening. He and the entire Bijou team are personable, genuine, and down to earth--you can feel the care they bring to both the food and the hospitality. The menu and décor are understated, but don't mistake that for simplicity. Every dish we had was thoughtfully composed, beautifully plated, and perfectly executed. Flavors were balanced, seasonal, and never overworked--nothing was over-sauced or overthought. Each plate stood confidently on its own, and everything arrived at the proper temperature, which speaks to the kitchen's attention to detail. Our female server was knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations that enhanced the experience. A special shoutout to Dan who clearly takes pride in ensuring guests enjoy their time. His knowledge of spirits and willingness to share his favorites added an extra personal touch. I've seen some comments about pricing, but I found it to be very reasonable given the quality of the food, Crafted Cocktails, service, and overall experience--especially for this level of execution in the Bay Area. I'll let the photos speak for themselves, but Bijou left a lasting impression. It's a place that proves you don't need an elaborate menu or flashy décor to deliver something truly special--just passion, balance, and genuine hospitality. Give the Bijou a visit, be present and enjoy what Chef Vargas and his team have to offer. Bravo Chef Vargas and Bijou Family well done and see you soon. Special note if you are a Chartreuse fan you definitely want to visit Bijou as they have a respectable selection which is rare to find.

Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again.
