I came here with my husband, my family, and dog after we checked out a dog event on Broadway Plaza. I searched for dog friendly restaurants and Melo's were the first few that showed up. Definitely craving for Italian good so immediately chose Melo's. I was able to make a reservation. We were able to find a parking spot on the street. Melo's was not hard to find. The patio was pretty. The ambiance outside was chill and there was shade from the sun. It was not too noisy. I was able to have a conversation with my family outside. Our waitress asked if my dog wanted water. I told her no need for water, he has his own. Always appreciate when I go to a restaurant and they think of the dog hehe. My dog was chill and just rested while we were there. There were a few other dogs too. I loved seeing the designs on the plates and bowls they served the food in. We ordered... - Fried calamari for appetizers : delicious. Not too salty. Sauce perfect. No complaints there. - Spicy Vodka Rigatoni : me and my husband ordered the same. It was delicious, but not at all spicy. Kind of disappointed there was not that much spice or kick to it. We had grilled chicken on ours. For me, the chicken was a bit more on the dry side, but still tasty. - Pappadelle bolognese : my brother ordered this and thought it was "good" but he said he expected more. - Mafaldini E Pollo : my dad ordered this and he emptied the whole plate! He really enjoyed it haha - Italian Deli : my mom ordered something different than us. She thought it was good, but "too big." I guess she's used to smaller sandwiches. It came with fries which she liked. We didn't get any special drinks nor desserts...we got full hehe...but will try next time for sure. My mom saw a small bug on her cup. She was not happy about that. But didn't bother to complain about it. But overall our experience was enjoyable. Definitely want to come back and try the other dishes. And see what it's like to eat indoors. Thanks for having us Melo's!
Another visit to Melo's in Walnut Creek. Didn't disappoint! We loved sitting on the patio and eating our delicious usuals: beet salad and pizza pie with burrata and basil. Great ambiance and food!
First timers here ! Came to celebrate a birthday in the family. Our server was very kind and on top of it ! (Brazilian guy) we started off with the bread basket and calamari it was very delicious! The calamari was super crispy yet soft inside. Everyone's plate was good, u was just the unlucky one and didn't like my shrimp scampi, looked better then it tasted. I didn't say anything because I was just going to pay for my plate everything was just amazing so I felt no reason to complain. But server went to manager and removed it which was truly appreciated. Will definitely be coming back. I do wish they served the sandwiches all day. Very nice decor inside and good lighting !
We are regulars at this Melos location as well as have visited the one in Pleasant Hill. This is our preferred location as a few things are different on the menu, most notably the addition of the vegan ceasar which is my favorite salad. Such a simple and delicious addition to their menu, it gets my money every time. Both the service and ambiance can change depending on the day and time, but overall our servers are usually decently friendly. It is a family restaurant so we frequently sit next to crying/screaming children. Not their fault, but a note for those looking for a date night spot. The food is great. We get the fried spaghetti squares as an appetizer every time we visit and they are always a hit, especially to those that are new and visiting. As I mentioned before, the vegan ceasar is also a favorite. For mains I like to build my own circle pizza, and others in my group like the square pies. One of my favorite things about Melos is that I can usually request vodka sauce on my dish, whether it's pizza or lasagna. This makes my experience 10x better than other places. They also have a good ranch, which is key for a good restaurant, especially one with pizza. I do wish their prices were a bit lower, but overall it is a good place to splurge a bit. We will continue to return.
We were here for our anniversary dinner last night and thoroughly enjoyed. We had the fried polenta (which was over great except it had a slight truffle sweet oil, without which it would have tasted better. We also had the fried spaghetti, the garlic bread and the mussels which were all delicious! For the main course we had the squares, limited edition corn pizza and the Yukon potatoes, yummm. We ended with tiramisu (one of the best) and the chocolate budino, perfect to wrap it all up.
First off, I'm writing this review after that fact because its been a week later and I'm still thinking about my dish! Visiting a friend in Concord and they mentioned trying out Melo's for good Italian food and it did not miss. I got the shrimp scampi and it was absolutely delicious! I dont think I've ever had small chopped up pieces of shrimp along with jumbo shrimp before. The sauce/noddle combination was great because sometimes I could find them a little dry. Everyone elses meals also looked amazing and they commended the tastem We sat outside and it did get a little chilly but naturally they have perfected that too with having outdoor heats AND blankets!!! Our sever was amazing and made sure to cater to all our needs! I will definitely be spotting back the next time I'm in town.
Went here for a birthday dinner and walked in early before our reservation. Since it was a Monday there were no issues. The table ordered the Calabrian chicken wings (and they said they were soooo good). The smell was amazing. I ordered the arugula and beet salad, it was fine! I ordered the arugula and prosciutto gluten free pizza. Their dough comes from mariposa and it's delicious! The pizza was light, I added pepper flakes. Drinks were good all around. The passion fruit mocktail was AMAZING. I wish I had ordered that. Service was pretty good, we had a slow start and they were very patient. There is easy (1 free hour) parking at the locust garage and it's right next door.

Our server, Brittany, was friendly, personable, and took responsibility when there was a delay in service. I asked for a bowl of water for my dog as soon as we were seated, but it took about 20 minutes before it was brought to the table and our order was taken. She sincerely apologized, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, I've experienced similar delays with other servers during previous visits. I also noticed the bartender place coffee beans into an espresso martini using her bare hands. Although I didn't say anything at the time, it made me uncomfortable from a hygiene standpoint. When I ordered another drink, Brittany used a utensil to place the coffee beans into the drink, which I felt was much more appropriate. Overall, the food was outstanding, as always, and that's what keeps me coming back. I hope the restaurant improves its service times and reinforces proper food handling practices so every guest can enjoy the same great dining experience.
Best pesto pasta i've ever had in my life! I've always underestimated this spot since it never looked authentic enough for my taste, but my friends insisted I go with them one night for dinner. We ordered the vodka al forno, alfredo, and pesto mandilli. The pesto pasta was in a shape that caught the rich creamy pesto so well, and paired with the chicken I ordered on top, absolutely delicious!!! Would go here again definitely.
Decent Italian place. Too much calories for me. Pizza deep dish style but really good. Salad okay and chicken cutlet passable only. Good service and nice decor.
We decided to try Melo's again, and wow, they have really improved over the last nine months! The polenta sticks were perfectly crispy and flavorful this time, and the onion dip was so cheesy and delicious. The focaccia bread was soft and fresh, and all of our entrées blew us away. Whatever they're doing, they should keep it up! The prices are also very reasonable. I'm excited to come back!
Just like Melo's Pizza but just slightly upscale. Good to get reservations as they get packed. Hosts are super friendly. Service is great! They have circle pizzas (more traditional) and square pizzas (thicker, deep dish). The pizzas come in one size only. Probably enough for 1-2 people. They also have pastas, small bites and salads. Decent cocktail menu with wine and beers. We ordered: Sunday Gravy: A very saucy spaghetti with all the meats (meatball, sausages, chunks of beef and pork. Flavorful. A bit too saucy for me. The spaghetti was al dente which I love. I wish this dish had more pasta to sop up all the "gravy." Combo Circle Pizza: One of our favorites from Melo's Burrata Margarita Square Pizza: Thick pizza on a bready crust. Too bready for me. But if you like deep dish, you'll probably like this one. Enjoyed the burnt cheese on the edges. Fun atmosphere. Family friendly. Loved the cute Italian store front with the Vespa. Cute.
My go-to order every time I come here: the Spicy Vodka Rigatoni and The Luca. They never disappoint! The portions are generous and perfect for sharing, which makes it even better when dining with friends. It gets pretty busy on Fridays and weekends, so I definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time!

I came here for dinner on a Saturday night to celebrate with family and was able to get a last minute reservation. We enjoyed being sat outside on the patio and were very comfortable. The food and drinks were really great, everything was really fresh and flavorful. Although the restaurant was pretty busy we didn't have to wait too long for our food. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He answered all of our questions and made sure we were taken care of throughout our time there. I will definitely be back soon! read more
Service is extremely slow. It took over 40 minutes to get salads. Other tables nearby were seated and served before we got our food. In fact, a nearby table received the wrong order and it was corrected before I called the waiter over and asked about our salads. Our waiter never checked on us to see if we needed a refill of water or wanted anything additional. The ambience is lovely. The hostess staff were friendly. The food was fresh and the gluten-free bread rolls were great. They reminded me of Brazilian cheese, bread, light, and chewy on the inside. read more
I mean, not a terrible place. Actually pretty good. But for what we paid, I've definitely had better. We started with the fried spaghetti squares. Not necessarily authentic, but quite tasty, and perfectly cheesey. I just hated that I had to share. My sister ordered the gnocchi and enjoyed it, and my wife's halibut was delicious... perhaps I ordered wrong? I ordered the Sunday gravy. It was a thick tomato sauce of 4 different meats, supposedly simmered, served over spaghetti...for $30. The meatballs were amazing...the rest of the meat, not so much. The shredded pork was...stale? If meats are simmered and braised for hours, it should be fork tender. Having strips of meat fight the texture of the noodles made it....cumbersome...to eat. Always wanted to use that word in a review. For the price, $30 essentially for bougie spaghetti, I expect near perfection. I'm a spaghetti snob...I know my stuff. If someone wanted to come here, I wouldn't mind it...but I'd try something else and maybe order spaghetti somewhere else read more

Came in on a Friday evening and was told the wait would be about 20 minutes, though it ended up being closer to 45. Honestly, it's Friday night and we were a walk-in, so it was expected! They have a cute little market area with goodies to browse, which helped pass the time. The vibe is great, very inviting with cute decorations and the staff was incredibly friendly throughout the night. They have a solid menu with plenty of options. Most of the food was a bit on the saltier side for my taste, but the standout was definitely the homemade focaccia and Chicken Parmesan with Spicy Vodka Rigatoni. It was easily the best thing we ordered. I'll definitely be back to give them another shot and try a few other dishes! read more
So much good food here! Decent sized restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating (heat lamps and firepits) Parking on the streets or nearby parking garage. We all enjoyed our meals. Each dish was delicious and flavorful. They were all generous portioned. Unfortunately our server was not as attentive. We asked many times for her and for her to take our order. It also took them a while to light the heat lamps. Our food took a while to come out as well. read more
I had a reservation, but when we arrived on a busy Saturday night, we were asked to wait and that they'd come get us in 10-15 minutes. I know they were really really busy, but I had to go check on the table several times before we were finally seated. The place was absolutely packed and loud and busy, which is probably better for a large party than it is for a two person hang, where you're actually trying to be able to hear each other. We got a few drinks that were good, and then went through the overwhelmingly extensive menu and picked out a few things: *Toast with buratta - this was tasty, but also felt like it needed something more *Pescatore - this was tasty, but it also felt like quantity over quality. It was fine. *Pesto special - this was tasty and my favorite I'd come back, because the menu is pretty extensive and I'd like to try more things, but probably not on a super busy Saturday. read more

I've been wanting to come here for a while since I keep seeing it on my social media! I love Italian food and I love Walnut Creek so my boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here! The ambiance is great! It's lively, it's not super loud, the decorations and aesthetic of the restaurant is so cute and vintage chic! I love that they have outdoor seating options as well! Perfect for those warm spring summer evenings or nights! The service was great! Our server was attentive, answered all of our questions and offered recommendations! We only needed to flag our server down for the check but beyond that everything was great! The restaurant is very clean. No sticky floors, dirty tables and the restrooms were spotless! The food was fantastic! I had the alfredo and my boyfriend ordered the penne bistecca. Everything was cooked perfectly, the cut of meat on my boyfriend's plate was so tender and the sauces of both pastas were absolutely delicious! The calamari was fried perfectly and the dipping sauces were also really good! I'd love to come again during their happy hour to try some more of their appetizers! I will be returning, we were very satisfied with our meal and afterwards if you feel full, you have a beautiful area to walk around and maybe do some shopping! Yummy yummy in our tummies , this food was sooo darn good ! I couldn't even finish my plate of pasta , it was very filling. Pasta was very flavorful (extra parm/red peppers on request, they will drizzle it for you) Became full and they packed our food in the boxes for us. Service was amazing ! Loved our waiter Maiyah ... she was super sweet / patient (my kids were ordering) Ambiance was adorable ! Plant lovers you would enjoy all the live plants sitting above the tables. 10/10 Parking is easy to find on the street or parking garage , for two hr street parking we paid $4. Download the app and pay for parking so you can track your time that is left on the meter. Parking enforcement was really heavy and proactive in this area. read more

Holy hell, I didn't go in with any sort of specific expectation, but Melo's was SO amazing. I will say nothing was really what we expected -- the lasagna and bruschetta in particular were sort of deconstructed, looking and tastinglike nothing any of us had had before, but they were so amazing. We also had fried spaghetti squares -- soooo good -- and focaccia, which was light and airy (I think of the table I liked it the least, but it's all relative). The last thing we tried was the potato pizza, which my husband and our friends loved but I would have preferred to try something a little more flavorful like the fig pizza, so we'll have to come back. Staff was awesome, our server was lovely and patient with us, booth was comfortable and overall, just a really excellent experience. Can't wait to come back! Six stars! read more

Delicious!! Had us seated outside in 10 minutes. The Luca and the vodka pasta are a must try. The burrata bruschetta is made with a tomato jam, unlike others I've had but incredibly tasteful. Would come back and definitely recommend if you are looking for good Italian! read more

always in the area and just now finding out about this place. I came in on a weekend for lunch. The interior is so cute. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The service was great. They have a mocktail menu with 3 drinks so that's a plus. I tried the the blood orange bellisima. The parm fries and luca pizza were really good. I also had the rigatoni and mushroom ravioli both were pretty good as well. For dessert not too many options as I dont like chocolate. I ended up getting the tiramisu it was actually olay for someone who isnt usually a fan. read more

Food: Our friend recommended this place and they've been dined in or ordered takeouts multiple times. We came here and tried the recommended dishes, and it's probably by far the BEST I've tried near Bay Area. I can't wait to come back again and tried other pasta dishes and see if Melo's going to be my fav Italian restaurant of all time! 100% recommend the chicken parmigiana, the sauce and cheese are perfectly balanced. I'm very picky when it comes to cheese or cream, and they made it so well Square pizza is also another highlight. It was slight over burnt on the edge but the honey complements the flavor of the pepperoni and crispness. Ambiance: it was warm and cozy. We sat in the patio seats and it suddenly rained, and all the staff came out to open the shades, and they also helped with the heater and offering blankets which makes the dining experience enjoyable. Ate here twice; one doordash and once in person. Both times were very good Everything we've ordered has been very flavorful and well cooked: crisp crust/undercarriage on the pizzas and al dente pasta with great sauces. No major complaints so far other than a minor wish that they'd give a bit more pasta in their dishes since it seems theres a bit more sauce than pasta ratio so the noodles run out a bit quick. We had lunch here today. Everything was delicious. We had the beet salad, carrots with pistachios and honey, and the calamari. It was all amazing!! Then we had the Mandilli Al Pesto and the Pescatora pasta. They were both delicious! Our server, James, was prompt, attentive, polite and helpful. We just returned from Italy two weeks ago and this was just as good as the food we had in Italy . We will definitely return and let our friends and family know about this wonderful restaurant! read more
Came here to celebrate my birthday. The staff were super nice! There was a bday card on the table for me when I arrived. They have plenty of booth seating inside and tables outside. We ordered The Luca pizza to share. I was really excited to try this pizza and it's the reason we came. I was disappointed because it had so much hot honey on it that it sort of ruined the other flavors for me. It was super sweet. Aside from that the pizza was very well made. I would only order this again with the hot honey on the side. We also got the pesto pasta. We loved this!!! It was super saucy and flavorful. Would definitely get this again. Came on a weeknight and there was no wait for a party of two. We started off with cocktails - I got the Sophia and he got the hibiscus margarita. Both were very good! For our appetizer, we got the cacio pepe onion dip. It was a flavorful, cheesy dip but I couldn't eat very much of since it was pretty rich. I appreciated the different variety of crackers for dipping. For our entrees, we got the vodka rigatoni with chicken parm and the luca pizza. Has dinner on Friday night- made an easy online reservation. Snagged an outdoor patio table- a little cool, but the patio heater kept us comfortable. Service was very good- my square potato pizza and chopped Italian salad were both tasty. read more
I went to Melo's on a Wednesday night and it was PACKED. We didn't have reservations, so we had to sit outside. It was a cold evening, but they had heat lamps, and it was comfortable. As it turns out, they didn't expect such a large amount of patrons that night, and were understaffed, so the wait time to be served and to receive our food was a bit long. The waiter explained the reasoning for the delay, and apologized more than once. I definitely believed him because I was thinking that it was a bit of an oddity to see such a crowd on a Wednesday. The service was otherwise good. The ambiance is a bit modern for my taste at an Italian restaurant, but I respect their creative choice when it comes to the vibe they want to have. The menu matched in style, with a "hip" approach. For example, pizzas being categorized in round and square categories, as well as "red" or "white". We got the arancini appetizer, and they were top quality. It was a seasonal item; hopefully they can bring it back. I ordered linguini with seafood for my main dish. It was described as being made with white wine and tomatoes, so I was expecting a clear pasta (maybe olive oil and white wine) with some tomatoes mixed in. It was actually a red sauce, so I was a little bit disappointed. Also, it only had one piece of calamari. The linguini wasn't soft, but I would've appreciated it being a little bit more al dente. My wife ordered chicken Parmesan with rigatoni. The pasta was perfectly al dente with a very tasty vodka sauce. I did like the Italian items for sale in the entryway (olive oil, panettoni, candies, etc.), but otherwise the restaurant felt very "California". Overall, I would say that I am glad that I tried out "Melo's". We will likely return and try some other items. read more
Came here for a team dinner and was pleasantly surprised by how solid the food was. The spicy rigatoni was rich and well-balanced, with just the right amount of heat and a sauce that coated the pasta nicely without feeling heavy. Wished the pasta was a bit more al dente. The roasted carrots were a great side - nicely caramelized, flavorful, and a lighter contrast to the pasta. Simple but thoughtfully done. Place 5/5: great mix of modern and natural designs, holiday decorations were festive but didn't clash with the aesthetic of the restaurant, well designed table layouts Service 5/5: server didn't introduce themselves (I think he was getting trained), got our orders quickly, food came extremely fast, we finished eating in maybe under an hour Cacio e pepe dip 3.5/5: rich in pepper and sharp cheese, creamy, onion did not overpower the other flavors, well balanced, appreciated array of crackers Calamari 3/5: crispy, tender, bouncy squid, although nothing special Primavera pie 5/5: simple pie but the quality of ingredients speak for itself, great ranch Chicken marsala 4/5: great portion, risotto is creamy, buttery, and doesn't weigh you down, chicken is tender, marsala sauce is packed with peppery, buttery goodness Sophia 5/5: their take on espresso martini and it delivered, the espresso is strong but not bitter, vodka is almost undetectable until you start to feel a nice little buzz Overall 4/5: Went for a girl's night and it was the perfect place! Portions were great for the table and service was impeccable. They were so efficient with everything although we didn't feel rushed. Jimmy takes such good care of me every time. His recommendations are top tier and he always makes sure to accommodate any substitutions. My latest excursion was to the bar where I had the Melos WC first AMF. I was feeling sassy on a Saturday. The ribeye sandwich hit just right and the fries were hot HOT hot - so fresh.
