Wonderful dinner last night at Locanda Positano in Lafayette. Locanda Positano is tucked away on Brown Street in Lafayette. So much delicious food in a wonderful atmosphere. We savored the Locanda Salad, Fritto Misto, incredible focaccia from the Bread Basket, Arancini, Linguini Alle Vongole, Penne Alla Vodka, and the evening special: rigatoni with braised beef and sausage. Their average star rating exactly reflects everything at Locanda Positano. Nothing spectacular, just solid all the way across the board and in the up and down experiences provided by most restaurants these days, there is something to be commended in consistency. Food is good, potions of pasta are a touch on the small, I recommend ordering a starter for the table to share. Service is excellent; attentive and friendly both indoors and out. Absolute dream eating at Locanda Positano. The Italian decor, the al fresco dining, the music and overall bustle indicated I was in for a fabulous evening. I started off with a spritz, of course. It's such a delight to see a Limoncello Spritz on the menu. For apps we shared the meatballs, delicious! For mains we tried the ragu and pesto gnocchi. I preferred the ragu, the pesto was heavy on the garlic, ioverwhelming all other flavors. For dessert we shared the chocolate cake and vanilla gelato, the perfect ending to our decadent meal. We went here for a Bday celebration for the lil man. I had made a reservation same day and they were able to accommodate us for a Friday night. Our Server was friendly and was very attentive. After having ordered Door Dash from this restaurant, and it being very good, we knew we had to try it in person, and are we glad we did! This place has fantastic food, a good wine selection and an amazing service team! The restaurant is located in an old home which gives it a quaint and intimate feel. Great for a date or celebration. Everyone asked if it was our first time there, as if they normally recognize ALL of their customers. It was such a welcoming feeling. From the moment we arrived, everyone from the host, to the manager, bartenders and servers seem focused on our pleasure. After a cocktail, we ordered Fritto Misto which was outstanding. It had some fried shrimp on top, which had an amazing flavor, so much that I looked at the menu to see if there was a shrimp appetizer because those alone can stand alone. Next we ordered salads - hubby had the special of the night, watermelon with black olives, red onion, and balsamic which was quite tasty. I had the Caesar salad which was good. I ordered a bottle Sanct Valentin Lagrein for us to enjoy (first time). The waitress asked if we were familiar with the wine, which I admitted we were not (thank you brother-in-law for the "text a friend" assist). Moments later one of the other service people arrived at the table asking the same question, and of course we had already begun to enjoy the wine, but I again told him "no". He then told us about the wine, the region in Northern Italy from which it comes, and more about the growing and harvesting. Yet another example of how their dedication to ensuring we were enjoying our evening. Entrees, we both went with pasta, hubby had the Strozzapreti, which I've ordered in the past delivery and it holds up great in that case, but was even better freshly made. I ordered Mama Carmela's Lasagna and I have to say it is the BEST lasagna I've ever ordered. In both cases, the portions are large, so much so that there was enough left over to bring home. Last we had limoncello cake for dessert, which was perfect after all else we ate. The cake has the perfect lemon taste and is light with the creme filling being a perfect balance. This is my second visit and just as I remembered. Small, quaint dining room with full bar and nice menu. Caveat: menu isn't large with 2-3 items of salad, main, fish, etc and one special. However the food is outstanding including branzino, linguine carbonara, calamari, and more. And wine list is fairly extensive and affordable. Our service was amazing with a young lady who was on point all night but not too aggressive or present. No downside but be aware that parking meters in lot behind restaurant are real and they are managed. When we arrived some cars were receding tickets. So be aware! read more

Every time I try one of the locanda locations they are always a 10/10! I love suggesting the locations to friends because I know the service is always going to be good and the food will taste the way it needs to. My friend And I dropped by for dinner and decided we wanted to shares two items. We chose the pizza and the pasta. The pizza was soooo good! Flavor is there with a crunchy crust. Make sure you ask for their chili oil because that elevates it! The pasta was just ok unfortunately but I have tried the pasta at the other locations and it's usually really good so I'll chalk it up to an off night. I've dined at this restaurant before and had a wonderful experience, so I was excited to order in via DoorDash. Unfortunately, this time the food really missed the mark. We ordered the beet salad, Pollo Marsala, and spaghetti alle vongole. The beet salad was placed directly on top of the hot items, so by the time it arrived, it was wilted and warm--definitely not how a fresh salad should be served. Both main dishes arrived very soupy, lacking the richness and balance I've come to expect from this place. The Pollo Marsala had overcooked chicken and mashed potatoes that were oddly runny, more like grits in consistency. The saving grace was the side of broccolini, which was flavorful and well-prepared. As for the spaghetti alle vongole, I couldn't eat it. It was extremely salty and also came swimming in a thin broth instead of a cohesive sauce. I understand that presentation can suffer with delivery, especially in cardboard containers, and while the restaurant clearly made an effort to package things nicely, the food just didn't hold up. This one was an exciting one to try only because there are multiple locations and the idea of trying each one sounds fun! So far been to 2/6 The lobster ravioli is delicious and the sauce on the piccata was amazing!! The restaurant is located in the corner sort of, it looks like a cute little house and gives off rustic vibes. Overall I enjoyed the food and quality here, I will say they aren't very accommodating when it comes to switching things up unless that was just my waitress, it seemed like if I wanted to switch out pork on any meal for different kind of meat (can't eat pork) it was not possible or not recommended by her. The service style is quite homey, welcoming you like part of their familiar family. The key thing about this brightly busy place is that the items can vary a bit between outstanding, such as their version of Burrata salad, and others are decidedly just okay - nothing to write home about, but passable for basic Italian (such as the grilled octopus, which is nice, but simply a chewy and regular smoky version, though quite generous size-wise, isn't anything more than an elementary version. But since the restaurant is attempting to go for a much more upscale crowd and prices everything accordingly, it's a bit jarring when you get the bill not to have eaten uniformly memorable bites or imbibed the best of the best. The lamb ragu on house-made penne for example, is nice and nourishingly home-spun, but pricing it up in the $30 range needs more than a scattering of peas and truffle oil to bring it beyond its humble roots as a meat-based carbonara. Their fried seafood mixto was quite good, with just a brushing of crispy coating, and nothing over-done, and really was a fun crunchy appetizer.Of the desserts, the pistachio creme tart stood out, with the limoncello lacking enough citrusy flavor to stand out, and the affogato was a reasonable Illy-style espresso over a relatively plain vanilla gelato. My one big caution at the moment is the parking lot - it's extremely dark with no lighting. But the hazard is that the lot was re-striped and now the parking space stops are 50% extending into the walking path, and completely are invisible as you try to navigate between the cars back to yours. 2 of our party tripped over these, not seeing anything of them in the pitch black lot. The lot is being the BBQ restaurant, which was closed on Sunday, contributing to the lack of drive-through activity. Went to Locanda for Mother's Day lunch and we all had such an amazing time! The lobster ravioli was so flavorful and had chunks of seafood throughout the dish. The linguini had a mountain of clams on it. The lasagna was meaty and rich and very delicious. The tiramisu was moist yet fluffy with a strong coffee flavor. I also love that all their signature cocktails are available as mocktails (no alcohol). Very refreshing even for the drivers of the group! The staff was incredibly attentive and were very quick to meet all our needs. They even gave out single stem roses to all the moms! So thoughtful! This is a wonderful little Italian restaurant in Lafayette. It is run by a family and the three times we have been here, all the servers spoke Italian. The food here is really delicious! You can tell it is made with care and that many of these are home recipes from the owner. I had the grilled salmon which was served over a bed of organic greens with a really delicious vinaigrette dressing on it. It was so good and hit the spot for me! My favorite restaurant is Locanda Amalfi in Pleasanton. I was in the Lafayette area so I thought I'd give Positano a try. Service was great. Hosts were friendly. Our waitress was good. She checked on us a few times. There seems to be a lot of staff either serving waters, bringing out plates, bussing tables, and as soon as a table clears, a team comes out to quickly set the table and get it ready for the next party. The vibe is different here vs Amalfi. Maybe it's the restaurant layout or because we were sitting in the outdoor patio or maybe it's the customers. I can't say. Although it was noisy with conversation, the ambience was not the same. I love the energy at Amalfi. The menu is pretty similar with the appetizers, pizzas, and the entrees. So I opted to try something different. I had the Rossini signature cocktail. It seemed fitting for Valentine's Day. We ordered: Beet Salad - lightly dressed with a few feta cheese crumbles and some seeds. It is different from what their online menu pictured. I wanted more feta and nuts and seeds. Ravioli All'Aragosta - My husband thoroughly enjoyed it. The sauce was creamy and it hit the spot. Enzo's Favorite Branzino - I love this fish but again, it didn't look like the photo on the menu. The fish was good but I wasn't a fan of the tomato sauce. It was tangy but too tangy and I felt that it drowned the vegetable flavors which were cooked perfectly. I wanted their flavors to shine. It was a hot day but we were told that there was a party of 40 ladies inside so they recommended outdoor seating. Fortunately, it was not that bad. We ordered beers, bread, two salads and a pizza to share. The steak salad was great but the portion of the vegetarian Caesar salad was half of the steak salad. So I went here for the 3rd time, this time with another couple. I had the Lasagna and 2 paper planes, both were excellent. Great flavor on the lasagna and a nice hearty portion. The paper plane was well balanced and definitely had the proper pour. Other meals ordered were, Lasagna, Lobster Raviolis, Diaviola Pizza. Everyone throughly enjoyed their meals and cocktails. Locanda Positano is becoming a regular haunt of ours - enjoyed a private winery tasting meal, several impromptu dinners, easy meetup with other regulars we know. Always hits the spot - warm, casual, familial - menu selection is varied without being unwieldy, prices represent real value, food is delicious, cocktails are done well. The dessert lava cake wasn't even warm or lava like... and it almost seemed like it was out of a container and microwaved before put on the plate. Would I eat here again?
