This place is a hidden gem! I've consistently bought the Gravenstein Apple Vinegar and Persian Lime Olive Oil, which I mix and add onto all my salads!! All the oils and vinegars have great flavor, and are a light and healthy option for cooking or dressings. I buy the smallest size (200ml) for $8 each, which will last around 1-2 years for me. They also sell caps for $2 each. For such a reasonable price, I would definitely purchase the caps with the bottles because it makes drizzling the oils much easier. The caps are also dishwasher safe! Every time I come, all the workers are so kind and helpful. They are very knowledgeable about the products! I just revisited the shop today, and they are still operating during COVID. I placed my order and picked up on the same day! It's a bummer because a big part of this experience is walking in the store and being able to sample all the different options; however, the employee who I talked to today mentioned that they are trying to figure out a way to allow customers to sample while ensuring safety during this time. read more

I called this morning to inquire about refilling and a couple of other questions and I spoke to Kim, who was absolutely a joy to talk to. She was not in a hurry and she was happy to answer my questions. Yes you can absolutely bring your old bottle in - she even went into detail the best way to get it cleaned and ready. I had called the Danville location earlier and left a voicemail but I was out of my fig balsamic. I didn't know they had other locations and Danville never called me back and I needed to get a new bottle as I use this everyday for my salads. This location is actually closer to me anyway. Love where this is situated in the heart of Lafayette and tons of places to eat and shop. Great store! Only downside here is you have to pay for parking even a quick grab and go. I tried a few of the white balsamic (lemon, elderberry, ginger, apricot) and all I can say is yum! I purchased the apricot and am excited to try that tonight and got more fig. They have a new white balsamic flavor Rose and it was delicious as well and the color sure reminds me just that, rose (row-say)! Definitely helps make your salads tasty again. I am so disappointed, firstly I've had their products and they are nice... but my 1 star was for their customer service I experienced today. I was hoping to find some new items. When i entered i was greeted, but then it ended. I was the only person in the store. Another person entered and they were also greeted and then nicely offered and given many samples . I was ignored. Not offered anything. It was beyond my comprehension and thoroughly rude. I chose to leave and will not return. There is a lovely company out of Carmel that i also have had great products and will gladly order from for now on. I was in hopes of finding a nice local place but not if i am ignored. Finally I tried to get down there before they closed but it was too late so I called the next day, and the owner Nate arranged to meet up because I knew again I wouldn't make it before closing, so I paid via credit card over the phone and we connected nearby. I was lucky enough to be personally introduced to Amphora Nueva and the thrilling world of EVOO through a class. I was so inspired by what I learned, that immediately following class, I drove to Lafayette to visit the store. I was greeted immediately upon entering, and asked what the goal of my visit was. I talked about how I enjoyed cooking, and wanted to use high quality ingredients. Furthermore, I discussed my interest in their balsamic + EVOO pairings. I was introduced to at least 6 pairings, taken around the store and given tastings of infused EVOOs, pure EVOOs, balsamics, etc. I was even given recipe ideas! All the while, we were having a conversation about our own lives. Things that stood out to me were: Harissa EVOO - definitely has a kick to it, very warming and complementary to cooked foods. Sesame EVOO - toasty, bold, versatile Sicilian Lemon White Balsamic - perfect balance between the acidity of lemon vs sweetness of the balsamic. Apricot White Balsamic - subtle, sweet, goes great with the Harissa EVOO Hojiblanca - Pure EVOO that has a fresh, green taste with some herbaceous notes that seem to go well with everything. I've never had this happen to me before, and it made a huge impact; seeing someone so passionate about their product and so open to sharing their joy with the customer meant so much to me! I took home a bottle of EVOO (the Hojiblanca), and I'm so impressed that I'll probably finish it in the next couple of weeks. It's also very affordable given the quality. $7 for a small bottle and $12 for a large! Can't wait to return and try some more. I went today for the first time and greeted by the owner, Nate. What a joy to talk to. I had a quick review of some balsamic vinegars and oils. The choices are great and prices are amazing. After being a WeOlive fan, Amphora Nueva has turned me completely. I liked that Nate selected a mixture of oils and vinegar for me to taste. Best of all they are refillable bottles The choices are so different, along with some traditional for those conservatives but again venture out of the box. Venture over to the store. With seasonings, dried pasta and toppings, just another addition. There were even recipes on the blackboards in the window using their oils and vinegars $7 for small $12 for large. Amphora Lafayette carries the most incredible and interesting premium olive oils/vinegars. I am in LOVE with the Black Mission Fig vinegar; rich, thick liquidy gold that when mixed with a touch of their Rosemary Olive Oil makes dreary lettuce or boring vegetables into a work of culinary art. I am also OBSESSED with their jalapeño vinegar which I mix with plain olive oil to make a zesty vinaigrette for Taco Salad. Not to be confused with the Green Chile oil that I use when sautéing sweet potatoes for a spicy breakfast hash. Amphora Lafayette is tucked away behind The Cooperidge, just across the street from La Fiesta Square and Chow. If you weren't looking for it, you would likely miss it and missing it is a terrible thing! Don't live your life without this stuff! We have been looking for an olive oil store since ours closed in Walnut Creek. We stumbled on Amphora Nueva and stopped in today to get a new bottle. The olive oils they have here are great and not expensive at all. A small bottle is $7 and a medium bottle is only $12. We were used to paying almost $20 a bottle locally for the medium bottles so this seems like a great deal to us. We will now come here for all of our olive oil needs in the future. I thought good olive oil was just that. Good olive oil. Until I came here. Trying different flavors of high quality olive oil paired with delicious vinegars. We purchased a few different flavors and bought the spouts offered at the register. I'm glad we did. We are no longer buying salad dressings because these oils and vinegars have so much flavor. The Sicilian Lemon White Balsamic is my favorite. The helpful employees don't mind if you try all the flavors and make great suggestions for how to use the oils and vinegars. This place is heaven for people like me who like to experiment with food. Never ever seen anything like the collection they carry for the olive oils and the vinegars, ever! Just when I thought 'We Olive' was the ultimate store for olive oils and vinegars, Amphora Nueva sets the new high benchmark. I was told that folks who own the store have been in the olive oil business for a few generations. Their olive-oil and vinegar pairing guide definitely helps, because the choices are too many to try and decide upon in one visit. Thus far, I was able to pick 3 of my favorite 'robust' flavored olive oils - Hojiblanca, Spanish Picual and the Cobrancosa (the King Cobra), in that order. To my mind, the robust flavored olive oils (with that awesome peppery finish) just hold up so well to any cuisine that has a lot of spices, or even to make some really hearty stews and soups. I haven't even begun to adequately sample all their vinegars, just because the traditional aged balsamic is such a classic, and I constantly crave it (the versions that both Amphora Nueva and We Olive carry cannot be beat).
