Friendly and knowledgeable help, a nice selection at multiple price points, and good value make this a very solid neighborhood wine shop. Would be proud to have it on my street, that's for sure. On this night I was going to a freind's house for venison and he pulled out two Mourvèdre heavy wines that were both great with the dinner. Not very expensive either. I even questioned if they were going to be the best wine I could get for this dinner and they did not try to upsell me to a pricier bottle that would not have been as good with the food. Integrity like that keeps people coming back and makes better long term value for everyone. Wish I found it everywhere, but regardless, very happy to have found it here, and I will return. Great selection of.. well everything. Their craft beer selection does have the latest and greatest and cannot find at a lot of places. And their mainstay beers are there for a reason. Booze and wine too, can find something you may not get elsewhere. And their prices are, well let's just say an out of town friend of mine came with me awhile ago and said, "it's like of the Sopranos robbed a liquor store their prices too low". When I'm there I generally know what I want and get in get out quickly, but a few times one if their guys lectured me on his right wing conspiracy views and kept going and going... and going on and on. I wanted to ask if he had just read the front page of Infowars but I decided to hold back for obvious reasons. In all this place is great. They have everything you want and more. read more

Excellent selection, very competitive pricing, the staff are really professional as well. In some ways it feels like stepping back in time with the old registers and the CRT tvs still up, but it's a good way, y'know? Love this store. Lines at safeway are murder, prices better here anyway. Looking for Champagne? Look no further! On the way to the Church, us bridesmaids were in desperate need for champagne... We spotted the specialty liquor store and had no need to look any further. They had it all. We stocked up on our Chandon and then remembered that drinking in a church parking lot would be a sin! The clerk offered us plastic cups at no charge and we enjoyed our champagne in front of the liquor store... I couldn't imagine anything classier than 6 bridesmaids standing outside a small town liquor store holding a bottle in one and a cup in the other. (see picture) Cheers! read more

Great little locally owned liquor store. They have a Huge selection of micro, craft and Belgian beers. As well as some of the lowest prices on liquor and wine, I honestly am shocked at how low. It is worth the drive to check it out if your looking for great deals. Very friendly staff, who are knowledgeable about their stock. I just wish they carried a larger selection of lower priced sparkling wines, but not everyone is as huge of a fan of the bubbly as me. Used to go here alot back in the day. Been here recently as well. They are always friendly and polite. The store is clean and very well stocked on whatever booze you are requiring. A big plus for me is they stock Trappist Ales! From what I understand the owner of this store has a few other locations. One in Oakland(never been there), one in Lafayette, and one in Concord on Monument Blvd(which is similar and also has a very good selection). read more

My favorite place to go for craft beer. Their Microbrew selection is bested only by their sister store on monument in concord. They're consistently well stocked and I always find a new brewery I am interested in test driving. If you're looking for folksy chit chat, this isn't your place. If you're looking for selection and a professional presentation, they are worth the drive. read more

The beer selection is worse than that of Safeway. If you're between 21 and 30 and have an out of state ID, you will not be sold alcohol. I get that I look young, but c'mon. The owner is trying too hard to cover his ass to actually allow people of legal age to buy alcohol. Pretty sad. read more

Been coming to this store on and off for years. Decent selection and prices, but the ornery young men who staff the store need customer service training. On one recent occasion we were essentially told to leave when we entered the store 5-10 minutes before closing, and on another occasion I received a completely unnecessary, sarcastic answer when I asked which register was open. Who needs that? Not us, so you've lost a couple of local customers. read more

The fine folks at Moraga and Lafayette Liquors just raised the price of Gilbey's vodka from $2.98 to $3.98 per half pint. Now I can appreciate their not wanting to encourage folks like myself from crowding the registrars when folks are waiting to purchase their $30 bottles of wine, but this is fucked up. read more

It's a little strange that a local family-run liquor store would have a better selection and far better prices than Bevmo or Safeway, and yet it's true. At least that's true for the hard liquors, I don't buy much beer or wine so I couldn't say about that. Really, even if Bevmo or Safeway have liquors on sale, they'll still end up costing more than the regular prices at Moraga Liquors. It's part of a local chain, there's also a store in Lafayette near the Safeway, and some other ones in Concord or Walnut Creek I think. read more

went in there today, on a sunday around 1p. Looked around and asked the guy if they carried MGD. No response, but he looked around and said "no." I asked if they were out or just don't carry it. Barely a response. Asked if I could redeem some lotto tickets and he gave me a look of "you've got to be kidding me." Was going to buy some more, but he was so rude, forget it. Love love love this place. They got the best deals on whiskey and other spirits. Even rare to find Japanese whiskey when you find it here it's not too expensive. I want specialty beer here and it's always the cheapest in town. I go here often and they are very very friendly. read more

Great selection of quality brews. I was there on a Friday, a big guy helped me what great service. The guy I spoke to knew beer and made a few good suggestions. He also said they have another store in Concord that has a ton more beer, and if I print off a copy of their Yelp page I will get 10% off. Wine looked ok a lot of stuff I could find at Safeway and the prices seemed high. Great selection of booze, being a rum drinker I was in heaven. A ton of good rum for the sipping. Worth the stop for beer or rum if you live in Moraga, but stick to Safeway for your wine. read more

These guys have crazy prices and pretty good selection but the service I've seen recently was terrible. The employees don't seem to know or care about their products and getting anyone to really answer questions on the wine was like pulling teeth. I used to come in here years ago and the staff was halfway decent but the current group is almost embarrassing to talk with or try and get help from.
