I'm giving them three stars as it seems like a very nice little corner market for those who live nearby and the staff seemed friendly. However, I had picked up an order via the TooGoodToGo app and what I received was inedible! It was a boxed salad where the lettuce was all pink and tasted totally bitter. I get that this app is supposed to be used for stores like this one to get rid of their left over/extra and perhaps slightly old food, but it is still supposed to be edible, and is NOT supposed to be rotten or inedible! read more

This little corner store really packs a ton of variety that you wouldn't think would be in such a small shop. You can find fresh (and really great quality) produce, Acme bread, cheeses, spices, baking goods, kombucha, and even more. They also sell sandwiches, pastries, and premade sushi rolls. There's street parking, however, the four way intersection is a little weird because you're unable to turn all four ways. The service is really nice here too. It's a small shop in a neighborhood, with a variety of market items (eggs, select produce, milk, chips, frozen food) and a tiny corner for sandwiches/soups, etc. Personally, I love their sandwiches. Sometimes the bread is a little too dense for me, but it was a treat to have. Their soups are reliably good as well. Everyone I've encountered there has been super friendly. If you want to customize your sandwich, give 'em a call. The ones they make for the day sell out pretty quick during lunch time since there are a few offices nearby who've also discovered this gem. Personal rec: Any of their sandwiches + shove some salt and vinegar kettle chips inside, smush it down to crush the chips a little. Add a cup of soup if you have room for it. read more

Gave it 2 stars for the ambiance and how cute it was but be prepared to spend $$$$$. Some examples: a tiny single sour airhead candy that can be found literally anywhere else for $0.25 was priced at $4.25 here. A 3 pack of Oreos also $4.25. A tiny salad with more than half the top of it being croutons was $12, a premade smallllll sandwich with barely any meat or anything on it was $13+. You get the picture but if you want a cute little market with a Berkeley vibe and have $$$$ in the bank come here. Also don't ask the main chick here who's obviously a manager or owner how's she's doing she will just ignore you and pass you off to a worker. 10/10 wouldn't go back. read more

Franklin Bros is a great addition to West Berkeley! They carry a great selection of groceries and have a lot of local/organic brands as well as a selection of mostly organic produce. The snack selection is very good and a lot of people come by regularly for chips/ice cream bars/drinks. They have a small deli counter with sandwiches (weekdays), soup du jour, and some pre pack meals (salads, sushi), as well as a bakery case with local baked items. They pack a lot into a corner store and the staff is super friendly and helpful. read more

They literally cater to all of their customers. Growing up in West Berkekey, we Neva-Eva had anyone cater to us at this capacity. If you can't find something, just ask. They also stock organic fruit and veggies. The people who work here are genuinely nice and happy to work here. local grocery across the street from a low income apartment that exists because of tax payer grants and government subsidies -- more expensive than Whole Foods: Small Yerba matte, ONE lemon, sprig of dill, and smallest plain cream cheese: $14.78. And it's not inflation it's been like that since the beginning. Shopping during the shelter-in-place was a pretty harrowing experience: suiting up, standing in line, bare shelves -- until I heard about Franklin Bros. Market which, while "closed" has a sensible and simple system for ordering online (regularly updated so you know what's in-stock and what's not) with contact-less pickup. I've noticed this appealing "corner store" for years and never gone inside. The truth is: This is a full-service neighborhood grocery store, with top-quality products, and lots of organic, vegan, and gluten-free options. I generally prefer to pick my own produce, but EVERYTHING I've ordered online has been perfect. I look forward to shopping in person someday; meanwhile I'm so grateful for this delightful alternative!!!!!! read more

Great little neighborhood shop with a surprising amount of inventory and selection! All the staff has been super nice every time we visited. Good for snacks, pantry essentials, and they're open everyday! Haven't tried much of the produce yet but the organic avocados were perfect. This store has pretty much everything you need on a week night to supplement or fully make dinner. There is also enough prepared food--quiches, salads, and sandwiches--to pick up something on the way to a picnic to the Marina. Fresh organic produce, soba noodles, chevre, cage free eggs, wine, and baguettes fill the shelves along with expected corner store staples such as cheez-its and Its-its. Locally roasted coffee is ready, and locally made pastries sit prettily under belljars. This is not your typical corner store. It is sunny and welcoming. From what it was when I moved in 35 years ago to what it is now, after Jennifer and staff have renovated and updated it, is really night and day. It was already super convenient (since I live literally one house away from it, I treated it like my personal pantry), their online ordering/pickup system instituted since the COVID shutdown has truly been AMAZING, and in a way even more convenient. Not one single problem in months, just click, PayPal and there's your groceries bagged in usually less than an hour. Crazy great service. read more

I really like this store! I only started going here recently because when I first moved in you couldn't shop in-store at the height of Covid. Now that you can, I try and purchase items here regularly instead of using Instacart or going to Whole Foods. I love that I always see the (very nice) staff and customers wearing masks, unlike some other local smaller stores I've had to stop patronizing :(.Some stuff is definitely more expensive, but a lot of it is reasonably priced. It's rad to be able to grab a bag of organic romaine, fresh lemons, a bottle of wine (small but decent selection and moderately priced options, 10-20$, some under $10). They have a good selection of cheeses, bottled juices, some meat options, household stuff. It's a really cute store too, and open til 8pm daily! read more

It's so great to have a neighborhood grocery store like this one! At first I just stopped in for the coffee (which is great) and the pastries (also great). But then I noticed they have sandwiches, which I picked up for lunch the other day -- I had the turkey and it was packed with fresh ingredients and delicious! Awesome little corner store. It's surprising how much they have in this small space. They have good products that are organic and some conventional things too.
