Lemon tart
Jessica E.

I attended a nurse practitioner meeting here. Food was delicious. I ordered the angel hair pasta. This was a vegetarian dish but the spice level was great! For dessert, I had the lemon tart. I would come here again with family

Postino is one of our favorite Italian places. Think old school dimly lit with small accent lighting, two fireplaces, linen table cloths, great food and pleasant service. Portobello Mushroom fries had an excellent presentation. The mushroom cap was sliced into steak fry size, about 1/2" and fried. The prices were then stacked on top of each other as a square. A great appetizer to start dinner with. Arugula salad with bread sticks, shaved apples and wrapped in prosciutto had an excellent presentation where the sticks were arranged in a tower. Tagliatelle pasta with Dungeness crab and artichoke hearts gave us a nice entrée. A bit pricey with the expensive crab but very pleasurable and worth the price. Sautéed onions and English peas side were added as vegetables. Chocolate decadence cake with gelato and candle for wife's birthday. Wow, this was a great way to spend time on date night.

I had the most amazing dining experience at Postino's! A sweet, sweet friend was kind enough to give me a gift card for Postino's for my birthday, and I finally got around to using it recently. Everything from the attentive staff and our delightful waiter Brian to the intimate ambiance was doing it for me. Brian was an amazing guide, dishing out helpful advice when he found out I was a vegetarian, making perfect pairing recommendations about what beverage was best suited for stage of the meal we were at, and offering up perfect anecdotes about seasonal ingredients and local selections. We had the pleasure of sitting in this little curtained alcove near the entrance (I was worried it'd be freezing because of the proximity to the front door and my penchant for jumpsuits with a thigh-high slit, but we were all to the good.) The entire meal was delicious and the experience itself was what a nice night out should be!

Scored a Christmas Eve lunch res a day prior, for 1pm (a true flex because Postino is always packed). Sat immediately, holiday miracles do exist! The exterior and interior are giving Snow White Italian cottage meets classy old-school elegance. Cozy, charming, and effortlessly cute. If you're seated in the main middle area, you get a front-row seat to the kitchen where chefs were firing plates out back to back with zero chaos. Calm, collected, great communication and clearly on their A-game. Love to see it. Go team! Feast- Burrata plate: Burrata, olives, prosciutto, crostini, and a tomato jam that I was positive was fig. Plot twist: tomatoes. Sweet, delicious, and confusing in the best way. Spicy garlic capellini with prawns: Heavy on the garlic (thank you). Flavor was solid, but I did wish for more sauce to really cling to the pasta. Carbonara: Cousin approved, no notes. Garlic mashed potatoes: LOL, Yes, pasta and potatoes. Mind your business. I do wish they were a bit chunkier- personal preference. The carb load humbled us immediately. Portions? Generous (especially the pasta); but that's the Italian way and I respect it. Drinks- I'm an espresso martini enthusiast (borderline problem), so obviously I ordered one. Pretty good, would order again. Cousin ordered a Pinot noir. Service was pleasant and smooth. This was my second visit, and I'd definitely be back to keep rotating through the menu.

Made a dinner res for 715 and didn't get seated until 800 which was frustrating. Server didn't get to us for another 10 minutes. Didn't expect that from here seeing as it's one of the nicest restaurants in Lafayette. Other than the wait and the service, food was fantastic. Got the hand rolled pasta with rabbit and was sad that I got full so quickly. My wife got the pesto chicken pasta which I didn't care for but she thought was amazing. Will go back here again but was disappointed with the experience especially since it was a special occasion.

Clam appetizer (huge portion)

Been on an Italian food hyperfixation this month and glad a friend recommended Postino's. Came here on a Monday night and there were a fair number of tables. The restaurant is pretty spacious with plenty of seating and a rustic brick vibe. You enter through a mini hall of signed wine bottles (how cute) and into a dining room with a real fireplace! The portions are pretty generous. I would say one dish can be shared by two people. Even the clam appetizer can be a legit entree! The butter garlic sauce it came in was so savory I could've drank it straight. Which I, no lie, sorta did. I ordered the carbonara as my main and it was DELICIOUS. First of all the dish came piping hot and the noodles were still so hot even 20-30 mins into my meal I still had to blow on them! It was creamy, al dente and just perfect. The service was really good too. Waters were refilled quickly and we were checked in on often at good intervals. Defiantly will be returning.

Went for dinner on a Wednesday night with a few coworkers. We ordered an assortment of appetizers, the charcuterie board is a must get! I really enjoyed the jam with the fresh mozzarella and the perfectly toasted bread- what else could you wish for! The rest of the meal was spectacular, from the pasta to the salmon to dessert- I can't wait to come back. The portions were great and the service was even better!

It's hard to believe that you can find such a place on Mount Diablo Boulevard. Set back with an almost ferry tale theme. This is the work of master builder Carr Jones. Amazingly, it was the original Lafayette Post Office first built in 1937. The food was very good. We had pastas and risotto with a Caesar salad and crudo up front. desert was affogato, a crumble and a chocolate torte. It was all great. Service was good but server was a little busy for a Sunday night.

Came here for the first time with my partner for my birthday dinner earlier this month. We came early on a Monday night and got seated in the back room with the fireplace, which felt very romantic and rustic like a little restaurant you'd find just off the beaten path in any Italian village. Antonio was our server and he was an absolute delight! His knowledge of the menu and recommendations were superb! Every dish hit the spot..."Special" flatbread appetizer, half orders of salad, my "special" duck confit and risotto, his ribeye, half order of the crab pasta, delicious wines, and an amazing tiramisu made my birthday extra special!!! We will definitely be back very soon and we really hope that Antonio will be our server again, because he is fantastic!

Short Ribs
Viclaire S.

Enjoyed a Satur-date lunch with my husband. Service was excellent and was grateful we were asked where we wanted to be seated (main or more corner/quiet). We had the fritto misto which had a mixed of calamari and shrimp. I was debating between the salmon and short ribs but decided on the short ribs. It was tender and the pairing with the polenta (oh so creamy!) was delicious. I even had extra to bring home. And it was just as good! The tiramisu was a perfect ending to our meal. I would absolutely come back again. Highly recommend!

Super quaint, lovely local Italian spot! My partner and I came across Postino in the area and were enchanted by their beautiful patio. We walked in on a Saturday evening and were seated immediately. Service is attentive yet discreet. ARTICHOKE: So tender and flavorful, perfect with the (tartar?) sauce! MUSHROOM "FRIES": These are delicious! I'll never turn down a mushroom dish. Very lightly fried and almost succulent inside. Oddly laid on a bed of mayo (?) and random raw spinach FISH STEW: Hmm... This is fine? I thought the appetizers were more memorable. I found it a bit too salty for my taste. But the portions of seafood were generous! It's a good spot for cozy, homey eats.

Dinner at Postino after the Lafayette Art and Wine festival. Despite being very crowded service was great! Fantastic drinks. Loved the arugula salad with light lemon vinegarette topped with fried sunflower seeds and shaved parm. So simple yet so good! The classic Caesar was also a hit! I had the duck wing appetizer as my entree- meaty duck wings with homemade ranch and veggies. The eggplant parm and rabbit pasta are always go-tos. The duck breast entree and confit leg served over spring onion risotto was killer! It had a blackberry sauce that added just a touch of sweetness. Too full for dessert!

The best halibut
Mary M.

What a delicious surprise! It's a bustling Italian gem with fresh and vibrant flavors. Our waiter was incredible, and truly made for an amazing experience. We both fell in love with their halibut and were pleasantly surprised on how delicious, beautiful presentation, unique flavors and the portion size. Highly recommend this romantic spot!

Parking is free, the outdoor space is nice, and we were quickly seated. After that, it was all down hill. We ordered off the happy hour menu - caesar, cheese plate, shishitos, sliders, and a couple of drinks (none of the specialty cocktails are on happy hour). The beers were the best thing, then the shishitos. Our cheese plate was completely INEDIBLE. You could tell that it had been sitting out for a very long time because the cheese was sweaty and some pieces were MOLDY - like the edge piece of a hard cheese after it's been in your fridge for a while that you cut off and throw away. The grapes were shriveled as well. Not sure how this is acceptable to serve. Supposedly it was made earlier for room service. All they did was take it off the bill and barely apologized - we were in a hurry since it took about 20/25 minutes for everything to even come out and could not wait for them to remake it. Idk, it was appalling and I was hoping for more restitution. Will not be recommending.

I'm glad we were seated here as it was mellower than the louder and busier inside. After ordering our drinks, we checked out the menu and decided to share two starters: Calamari with house made tartar and cocktail sauce - it was good. Lightly battered and crispy. Zucchini Fries - a heaping portion of fries topped with parmigiano Reggiano and a house made lemon basil aioli for dipping. Never had these types of fries. Cut shoestring style and they were light and delicious. The served a complementary bread basket with butter. It consisted of sourdough slices, Focaccia squares and a bread crisp slice. House French bread - love warm bread and butter. So good that we asked for refills. I had the Joe's House made Ravioli - a generous portion of beef and spinach filled raviolis in a meat sauce topped with Parmesan Reggiano. I just wished the raviolis had a thicker filling. Other entrees ordered by our group were spaghetti and meatballs, House made beef lasagna and bone-in veal Milanese. Everyone was happy with their orders. When we left, the restaurant was still crowded and there was a waiting line. Service was friendly, accommodating and efficient. This is not your typical family style Italian restaurant, but it's more upscale and good for special occasions and get-togethers.

The food in this place was good but the service was so bad at some point I felt like it was a torture. The place was kind of empty not too many table were full but the waiter just would be gone for long and wouldn't come ask if we needed anything. The wait between meals like appetizer and main course was so long not because of kitchen but the server was just gone for long at a stretch. I had to ask him to come and same with after our meal was finished he never came to ask if we needed dessert, The waiter on other table saw us a few times and he finally came and gave us a menu. I really wanted to try a dessert but was scared this will again take us another hour to even get the server to come and get our order. On top of really slow service there was an older man who sat in the table next to us and kept talking to us looking at our food. He literally was asking me if you support trump do you like him. He kept telling us how he knew the owner and his wife and has come to this place for 100 times over years and everything is free for him here. This was all ok but I wasn't sure why he wasn't letting us eat our meal in peace. At some point he became a little racist as well, when we tried to take our food goto he told us i won't take this goto. I never take this goto. And then was like ohh you are from India and it felt so uncomfortable. He was like do you watch fox, I watch fox. Then was like I have cable, I don't try to save money. I understand this restaurant might have some old and familiar guest or important people come to this place but they should understand other guest should still be able to enjoy there meal without being bothered by the people who are known. It was one of my worse restaurant experiences, the service and on top of this man who somehow is VIP guest at this place made it so hard for us to have our date night meal in peace. I literally tried to run away from this place. This was almost 2 hrs long ordeal. We came a little before 6 and left at 8 and I never eat for that long. I'll NEVER go to this place again even though I loved the food.

We have tried to come here before but it was super packed no parking and it was night time . This was months ago . This morning my man surprised me by bringing me here again for Mother's Day breakfast/brunch . We got there right when opening and the inside was already full ( people made reservations for Mother's Day but they had outdoor seating which is covered from the sun and has heaters ) They had a special menu for Mother's Day today so a lot of what you might see on the regular menu may have not been on today's menu . Our waiter let alone the rest of the staff were very nice and polite and kept wishing happy Mother's Day to everyone . It was very nice . Now food ! Ofcourse you know I got oysters . They had 5 different kinds to choose from but I got the dozen with all of them ! All fresh ! Some were more sweet some more Briney some more creamy . All of them were good and the shallot vinaigrette was the cherry on top ! He got the tortilla soup and we shared the cheesy crabby bread . He dipped it in the soup ( boys lol ) and sad it was good . My personal opinion I love the bread they used ! And nice flavor with out taking away from the nice amount of crab they put on it ! The steak Cobb salad was a very nice portion and the steak was cooked medium rare just how I like it . I was expecting it to be cut up pieces but no they gave you a whole filet which is nice if you want something light and filling I'd definitely recommend this salad . The clams were amazing ! The sauce was so savory just added a dash of lemon and I was in heaven . Plus the cheesy toasted bread they give you to slurp all that excellence lol top tier . Crab omelette was made with egg whites only no yolk , and had ample amount of LUMP crab meat no skimpy at all ! Potatoes were seasoned nice . And the waffles ( which comes by itself heads up that's why we ordered sausage and bacon as a side 8$ each kinda pricey. Overall I'd highly recommend and want to come back to try more options . It was nice seeing all the happy families and the cutesy babies all around . Today was a beautiful day thankyou Wences !
