I have been meaning to try Social Bird for some time. I finally made it. I came here a few weeks ago with a friend of mine. The customer service was A1. The moment I opened the door I was greeted by two different staff members. The restaurant was clean, has a nice air flow and it is bigger than I thought. The server was great. She gave us recommendations on the food which I appreciate. The food was really good, the drink was tasty and her service was good. Will I be back? Well, of course. I need those brunch biscuits sliders again

Made an easy online reservation for Friday night. We sat outside on the patio but the weather wasn't bad and this time, the patio heaters were working. We had a very enthusiastic and friendly server. We started with the pulpo, and shrimp appetizers. Wife got the steak frites and I had the halibut special over the fresh corn polenta. Steak was skirt, so had good flavor with a bit of chew. Fries were plentiful and crispy. My polenta was really good, as was the fish. Had a nice dinner.

SOCIAL HOUR great food and great ambiance . My sister and I have been here several times in the past year and we love coming for dinner . We usually order the arugula salad and meatballs and drinks . They have some really flavor in those meatballs and that's what keeps us coming back . Also came with mom and she loved the bread pudding too . So yes come over and you will really enjoy it .

The location of this place is in a very nice neighborhood and surrounded by lots of other businesses and stores. Parking is available in front but can get occupied quickly. There is also an underground garage around the corner but do keep in mind that you pay for it up until 7pm. The food- WOOOOOOOW THE OYSTERS!! I had to start there because these are scrumptious! Straight from Washington and they are so buttery. I had to order roughly about 16 total . Worth the price and the way these pair with a good beer are so bomb! The cheese and jam on bread was a nice starter. Mussels I would say are also very tasty and a must have. Curry sauce pairs good with the smell veggie bits in it. Our waitress made as extremely nice and sweep. Gigi who took care of us went above and beyond! Recommend a lot of different things and was very sweet! This place was overall an amazing experience and I think this might be my new to go to spot! Lovely date night and a must visit before hitting Walnut Creek.

I've been meaning to try Social Bird for a long time, and I'm so glad I finally did. I loved the ambiance right away. When you walk in, there's a large central bar with seating all around it, plus tables along the sides and in the back. I believe they also have outdoor seating, but it was pretty cold when we went, so we stayed inside. The layout feels lively but still comfortable. The menu isn't huge, but honestly, I appreciated that--it made ordering easy without decision fatigue. We started with the soup of the day, which happened to be clam chowder, and it was so good. Rich, comforting, and flavorful. For mains, my husband and I shared the mussels and the steak. Both were excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare--truly medium rare, juicy, tender, and spot-on. The mussels were also delicious, and I could've happily drank the broth they came in. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and I believe a lot of their ingredients are farm-to-table or at least very thoughtfully sourced. Even the fries stood out--they reminded me of In-N-Out fries in that super-fresh way, but elevated. Service was another highlight. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and took time to chat with us a bit, which made the experience even better. Overall, this is a place I'd absolutely come back to--no question. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service.

Social Bird is a downtown Lafayette staple. Great food, excellent service, and a casual yet elevated atmosphere. The crowd is, well, Lafayette.... but we won't hold this against SB. It does get busy, and for good reason, so a resie is a good idea. They have outdoor seating both in the front and back of the restaurant. Perfect for when the weather is cooperative. There is a paid parking lot in the back as well. Ok, let's talk about the food! My recommendations are: -Oysters (they have HH) -Artisanal Cheeses -Grilled Prawns -Salmon Tartare -Mushroom Risotto (excellent!!) They also have a vegan menu, so extra points there. Excellent cocktails and a great wine list. Service is warm and friendly, particularly at the bar. The bar staff is stellar, and will make you feel welcome. Ok, a couple of 'opportunities for improvement'..... The lack of internet connectivity. The restaurant's WiFi is virtually unusable, and so is the cell service in the immediate area. PLEASE invest in reliable WiFi for customers. This is kind of a given in this day and age in any urban area. Second, less downer pop and more unce-unce music please. Think more Purple Disco Machine and Tiesto, and less John Mayer and Ed Sheeran in his depressed era. With these changes, this place would be a solid 100. But still a terrific spot in the East Bay.

Service was prompt. We were able to have outdoor seating with our dog. There were heaters out as well. We came for the happy hour oysters which were fresh and tasty. I looooved the pear bruschetta and the chicken sliders were good too. Very cute and good restaurant

Still a Lafayette "go to" restaurant. Definitely a must for your rotation. Excellent food. Desserts are exceptional

Excellent food and outstanding service. We ordered the steak frites with arugula salad and the chicken biscuits with house-made chips. The portions were generous, between the two of us we couldn't even finish everything. The food was flavorful, fresh, and clearly well prepared. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. Definitely a spot we'll return to.

We went on a very nice sunny day perfect for sitting outside. The drinks were nice, the oysters hit the spot when you mix their house hot sauce and tapatio together. *muah!* our server was super patient, polite, great memory, and added even more fun to our hilarious food photography pros shenanigans. Great vibe. Great people. Perfect food options for the great weather.

We had a dog with us so we asked if we could sit on their patio and they had plenty of options. They have a side and a back patio with ten tables on each side. There's a lot that you can pay for right next to the back patio or you can park for free in the garage beneath. Our food was such great quality. I got the vegan bowl, we tried the chicken bowl, salmon bowl, and the kids got burgers off the kids meal. The staff were so chill and attentive. They were the best vibe! I would go out of my way to dine there again.

Finally got to check this place out! Loved it so much, I went back twice in 2 weeks. The first time we went, we ordered the three cheese board & some drinks. We sat out on the patio which was pretty shaded and relaxing. The cheeses consisted of a blue, a Brie, & (I think) a Gouda, along with some nuts, dried fruits, jam, & sliced bread. SO delicious! The next time, we sat outside but in a different area along the walkway & it was equally as nice. The staff is very attentive, regardless of how busy the restaurant is. This time, we started off with the cheese board & drinks again, but also ordered the avocado bruschetta & split the vegan super food bowl. Loved the crispy onions on the toast! The super food bowl was packed with flavor & nutrients. They also had a full vegan menu which I thought was pretty awesome. Going to add this to our rotation!

Dropped by recently for a late night dinner and had a great experience. The restaurant was winding down, yet our server was terrific and attentive throughout the meal, and the ambience was at just the right level of noise for us. We really enjoyed the their braised boneless short ribs which were succulent and topped with a rich gravy, along with sautéed mushrooms and herbs, and sitting on top of creamy polenta and accompanied by glazed sweet carrots. The portion size was good, and everything was seasoned well for our taste buds. Mary's Roasted Chicken was also a hit with crispy skin and moist, seasoned meat topped with herbs, along with roasted potatoes, sautéed spinach, and a celery root purée. Also enjoyed a pint of Epidemic Lager at World End, which complemented both dishes.

It was near closing time when we got there, but we didn't feel rushed to order or eat our dinner so that they could clean up and close the restaurant and head on home. We started with an appetizer and garlic bread (see picture). We had about six pieces of bread and as you can see in the picture, it was on the burnt side. I cannot believe that for the price you pay for a bread, they would serve this. I also ordered a black coffee, but it tasted like it had been sitting there since the morning and tasted really nasty. I asked to have a hot tea instead. Food was good. We ordered spaghetti, carbonara, some chicken dish, and a grilled salmon. All the food tasted delicious and we cleaned out the carbonara and spaghetti. After we ate our dinner, they gave my son-in-law a slice of tiramisu with a lighted candle. Overall, it was a pleasant evening and we enjoyed our food (except for the garlic bread). I'd like to see them do me good and give me a nice garlic bread the next time I eat here.

Parking is free, the outdoor space is nice, and we were quickly seated. After that, it was all down hill. The beers were the best thing, then the shishitos. Our cheese plate was completely INEDIBLE. You could tell that it had been sitting out for a very long time because the cheese was sweaty and some pieces were MOLDY - like the edge piece of a hard cheese after it's been in your fridge for a while that you cut off and throw away. The grapes were shriveled as well. Not sure how this is acceptable to serve. Supposedly it was made earlier for room service. All they did was take it off the bill and barely apologized - we were in a hurry since it took about 20/25 minutes for everything to even come out and could not wait for them to remake it. Idk, it was appalling and I was hoping for more restitution. Will not be recommending.

Wood Tavern met the criteria for a relatively nice American restaurant in North Oakland. We visited for lunch and wanted to make this special for our mom, so we were perhaps a bit overdressed in business casual, but this is Oakland after all. On an ordinary Thursday, there were multiple groups waiting outside for the restaurant to open at 11:30 AM. That in itself should tell you how popular this place is. My wife and I dined at sister restaurant Southie next door a few years ago and really enjoyed it (I also rated it five stars on Yelp), so I was confident Wood Tavern would not disappoint. I initially booked our reservation using OpenTable to link it to my account and get 100 points. Since the max party size for Wood Tavern on OpenTable is four, I had to call to get it changed to eight. Due to the large party size, the restaurant also required me to give them my credit card info and be subject to a $25 per person no-show fee. Upon arrival, our tables were ready for us in the back corner near the open kitchen. The restaurant is true to its name with a shared bar and dining room space that evoke the feel of a wood tavern. As for what to order, I recommend all of the dishes we got. It really just depends on what you like and/or what you're in the mood for. Everyone loved the food. The beet salad was fresh and flavorful, the pastrami was one of the best I've had anywhere, my mom raved about the seafood stew, my brother-in-law gobbled up all of the casarecce, and the burger was outstanding. Service was polite and speedy. Our server Sophia C was awesome.
