Beautiful decor in the hotel (as a fan of historical architecture, I'm a little sad at what needed to be modernized in the hotel. We went for brunch on Sunday, and the bottomless mimosas and bloody Marys are incredible (the Bloody Mary, with jumbo shrimp, bacon, olives and celery, is a meal in and of itself). I ordered the frittata (which was delicious and filling -- the cheese really makes it work), and my partner ordered the goetta hash (also excellent). I was a bit disturbed that our waiter had no idea how to deal with dietary restrictions (he seemed to be confused between "gluten" and "carbs" -- "Does the hash have gluten in it?" "Yes, it's full of potatoes." In returning an answer from the chefs, it was clear he'd asked about "grains," not "gluten." Maybe some staff training is needed?) It's a bit pricey for brunch, but definitely worth it for something fancy, even if you're not staying at the hotel. read more

A lot of hotel restaurants deserve their mediocre reviews and sparse attendance, but that isn't the case with Subito. It could very easily be a stand alone restaurant and hold its own. The Lytle Park Hotel (where we stayed) is gorgeous and so is the restaurant area. The brussell sprout appetizer was incredible. My wife gets those often and these were probably the best we've ever gotten. The salmon ravioli is a unique offering and I love that all the pasta is made in-house. We also had the chicken dish, which was like an inside-out chicken corden bleu. My wife loved it. Service was great. I saw a fair number of people coming to the hotel just for dinner. The "low" average score doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps because it's a fancy-enough restaurant that they don't rely on huge portions to win customers, so some people may be disappointed by that. Very high quality food and professional service. I enjoyed lunch outdoors on the patio. There is very little traffic and it overlooks a park. Enter through the hotel main lobby. Doors open up for fresh air from an Indoor covered terrace creating a lovely atmosphere for a summer evening. For lunch we had a margarita pizza and Caesar salad that we shared. I had so looked forward to our visit. It was really disappointing. Our service wasn't great and the food was subpar. The pizza was maybe one step above frozen. My husband ordered the steak which was recommended by our server, it was average at best but had a top tier price tag. We went early to enjoy the bar and a cocktail and this was ok but our bartender seemed a little put out. Also, we were seated in the patio area which might be nice on a nice evening with open air, but on a rainy evening it did not deliver a fine dining experience. More like a hotel setting for brunch. Overall, not a great experience and we will not return. I had high expectations after a Sophisticated Living magazine article. The restaurant was nice and our server was great, but that's where it stops. Everything we ordered was bland, and in the worst way. The butter that came with the bread tasted like absolutely nothing, the Arancini and the sauce it came in were terrible and one of them was still frozen in the middle, and the cacio e Pepe and chicken dish my husband ordered were also awful. We are not big salt eaters - I never add salt to anything, but every single thing we ate could have benefited from it. My wife and I drove from Columbus and choose the new signature Lytle Hotel as a two night "Just because" getaway. Breakfast is my wife's favorite meal, so we were excited to try The Subito restaurant located inside the hotel. While I wasn't expecting too much, the meal super-seeded our expectations. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my wife ordered the Cornetto Americano. Both were highly enjoyed and the Cornetto Americano, which features local Cincinnati goetta, is highly recommended. The staff and management went above and beyond to make sure we came away with a great experience and my wife and I both agreed that we would someday take a drive back down from Columbus just to eat breakfast there again. read more

We visited at 6pm on Sunday evening. We started with the Beef Carpaccio. It was not at all like the menu explained. It was beef, a splash of olive oil, and a bit of frisee on the side. There were no almonds, parmesan, and we couldn't taste any mustard seed. It was very bland. We then had the Cacio E Pepe, which I had to ADD more pepper to because it tasted bland as well. The Pappardelle Bolognese was the best thing we had. I tried the vegan option of Torta di Ceci as recommended by Cincinnati Magazine and it was again, not as represented by the menu. The tofu ricotta was very good and it was served on a pancake made with chickpea flour, but then it was covered in Kale that was bitter. There were no beets, no carrots, and 3 pecans. The Saltimbocca was horribly overcooked. The one small chicken breast was so dry without much flavor, and the small order of pasta tasted exactly like the Cacio E Pepe with no pepper. There was no sage or a hint of Marsala wine sauce. There was just a thin layer of prosciutto and not enough mozzarella to even notice. We were totally disappointed that we paid $107 for below average food. If you want good Italian, stick to Nicola's, Boca, and Sotto. On the upside, our server Abby was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is unique. read more

The waitress and bartenders were absolutely lovely. The piano player was very talented and a great addition to the ambiance. We headed over to subito for our dinner. We ordered three starters- the baked oysters, fritto and burrata salad. The baked oysters and fritto were great! I would skip the burrata salad- it's nothing special. For our entrees we had the carbonara and the strip steak. Again, the carbonara is OK- definitely not an authentic version and sort of bland. Do not fall for the spiel about the steak being specially raised in Italy, it tasted exquisitely average. It tasted like a sirloin but cost $20 more, and was overly charred. I would go back to subito for apps, drinks and to hang out in the bar area in the lobby or on the roof. I probably would skip the steak and pasta though. read more

A very disappointing experience. We were there for a family celebration over brunch. Our waitress was obviously inexperienced. We had to repeatedly give her our orders for beverages and food. She was slow bringing beverages. I asked for my salad first but it was served with the meal. All 6 of our orders were placed in front of the wrong person. The food was just okay and hardly what you'd expect for a restaurant in a high end hotel. The ambiance was nice but was spoiled by the poor service and few diners. I wanted to like it, but it was an overall mediocre experience. We were seated on the enclosed patio for dinner, and the ambiance was disappointing and noisy. The bread was good, Caesar Salad was decent. Cacio E Pepe was like a peppery boxed mac and cheese, made with clumpy angel hair pasta. Torta di Ceci was a vegetarian dish that seemed to be made by a person who doesn't eat vegetarian dishes, barely touched it. After dinner we went to check out the rooftop bar, and it was equally disappointing. It is probably nice in the warmer months, with the enclosure open, but with it closed it's really lacking any atmosphere or charm, and has a basic club-like atmosphere. It just feels like being in a metal and glass aquarium, you can't even see outside because of the reflection. I wish I could find more nice things to say about this place, maybe next time. read more

Subito is located inside of the new Lytle Hotel that just opened in Cincinnati. The restaurant and hotel are both quite lovely. All of the staff were super helpful and seemed to really work together. We started out with cocktails followed by the cheese plate. After that, my friends and I al just so happened to a order the steak dinner. Honestly, we were not that impressed. The way it was described to us was it was one of the best steaks because of its rare origination (can't remember where they get the beef from), but it tasted pretty normal to me. My steak was very over cooked so I had to send it back. The second was cooked perfectly but the seasoning was just ok. It came with mash potatoes and I ordered risotto on the side. I could also pass on both of the sides. The risotto tastes a bit starchy and the potatoes needed more seasoning. The cheese plate was the one thing I thought was very well done. With them being new, I would assume they are still going through the growing pains so I will try again in the future read more

We had strip steak and fillet cooked to order but was cold when delivered and did not melt the garlic butter on top and was surprised a manager did not stop by for my concerns when they only three tables having dinner at the same time. We tried Subito for the first time and were quite impressed. We started with baked oysters and beef carpaccio, both which were very good. They served bread as well. For the main dish, I had the Cacio e Pepe and my boyfriend had Carbonara. The Cacio e pepe was very flavorful and my boyfriend enjoyed his dish as well. Lastly, we had a cannoli and zabaglione for dessert and both were tasty. I recommend ordering the Taft Toast cocktail as it was delicious. It's a bit noisy at the restaurant when the piano singer playing, so not a place I would recommend if you prefer quiet restaurants. There is a rooftop bar in the hotel and next time I go to eat at the restaurant on a weekend night, I'll know to ask to be put on the rooftop waitlist maybe 45-60 minutes before leaving the restaurant, as we asked as we were leaving around 7:30pm and were told it was a 60 minute wait list for the rooftop. This is completely understandable as it's good to know they are practicing good COVID-19 social distancing on the rooftop by not letting too many people on the rooftop and the restaurant also did a great job of COVID safety measures. Our server was very polite, our server assistant was very engaging and looks like he's ready to be promoted to server, and we had two managers stop by once to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.
