Great drinks, service, and atmosphere will definitely be in my rotation of great places to have a good time in Chattanooga

Best oysters around and I've had them all over the place. Good happy hour, great bar!

Great atmosphere, great food, great service! Oysters were awesome! Steak & scallops were delicious. We will definitely go back.

I was hoping Chattanooga could add to it's list of consistently quality choices for places to eat. My first visit to this place was not promising. The decor is well done and does demonstrate the continuing trend in Chattanooga to utilize design professionals and create a well designed space for new restaurants. Service was very good. My cocktail was good. The food was so incredibly over salted it was hard to eat. The base flavor of my bisque was pretty good so had someone somewhere held off on the salt by 1/2 it would have been great. I ordered the scallops for my entree and it had several significant issues. First the scallops while cooked correctly were incredibly salty again. Second it was paired with roasted root vegetables. An odd combination that I won't say could never work because I have often enjoyed odd food combinations the most. But here they did not pull it off. The texture and flavor of the vegetables did not pair well at all. The shallots or onions were pleasant but there was too many and like most of the root vegetables not cooked enough. The hard under-cooked nature of the root vegetables was as unpleasant as the excessively salty scallops. My thoughts while I was attempting to eat this was "Who the hell is cooking on a weekend night in the first few months of opening? A chef in training or perhaps someone who has never been trained?" I'll give it one more try but if it is not a vast improvement this place will going into the tourist trap category. read more

So wanted to like this restaurant, but I am one and done. It took 23 minutes on a Monday night to get our drinks; 1 beer, a Hemingway daiquiri and a Moonshine Mule. Probably 15-20 minutes for our appetizers. The place wasn't even crowded and there was plenty of wait staff on duty. The shrimp and grits...well the grits were runny. The dessert was the best part of the meal. The manager came by during our meal and made a comment about us having to wait for our drinks, yet he did not offer any type of compensation...I really wanted to enjoy the experience but I will stick to my tried and true favs. Sorry Stir, but you didn't make the cut! read more

Awesome afternoon on the patio. Incredible service from Wes. the oysters selection was awesome and tuna cooked to perfection. Great job

Great atmosphere, really fun at happy hour!! Their food choices during happy hour are the Bomb! Drink reasonably priced during happy hour, pretty expense during regular hours! Great service!! read more

First time at Stir. My wife had a salad and loved it. I had house oysters and lobster bisque. Both were fantastic. Watching the bar mix drinks it was fun to watch them climb the ladder to get to the alcohol. They were also very good at sanitation, wearing gloves at the right time, and polishing the glasses. Highly recommend. read more

We were staying in one of the Pullman cars next door, so this was a natural spot for supper. Five stars all the way. My kids ate chicken strips which were adult worthy as well. They came with huge servings of kid friendly fruit. Our server was kind and when my daughter asked for honey mustard sauce, didn't blink about it not being stocked in the kitchen, but went back and made it herself with the constituent ingredients. The server was on her A game as was every employee there. The hostess was kind and gave us a big, comfy booth for our Ruby Falls/Lookout Mt/Rock City tired bones. The bus guy fist bumped my energetic 6y old and welcomed him to supper. The Parmesan Truffle French fries were all that: fried in oil and made from bad for you potatoes, but the spices and flavors were magic. My seared Tuna steak was perfect and accompanied by a kale side. My husband drank craft beer brewed with coffee beans and asked for another. This was recommended by the server who knew the details of all the menus. My husband's NY strip was perfectly prepared to his requests and disappeared between my kids and him. The first night we stayed at the hotel, the wait for a table was 45m. Now we know why. read more

One of our "go to" choices in Chattanooga. Always seems to have a good vibe. Weekends can get crazy busy but the staff step up their game and keep things flowing. I am a big fan of their oysters. I think I have tried all the different ones type offer and all are great. Always fresh and good sized. Can't go wrong with their sliders either. Great for a quick pregame snack or late night cure for munchies. Staff always courteous and remember you after a couple visits. read more

Great atmosphere!!! Pretty bland salads, honestly. Give me some hot sauce or something! Jeez. Service started off really good but we were forgotten about after our meals arrived. They could've sold us a couple of more glasses of wine if they thought to check on us. Great bar - but don't expect an unforgettable meal read more

So I can't completely give this place a horrible review. They do have some good servers which is nice when you are sticking around for brunch and mimosas. Great price on mimosas for sure. I had the shrimp and grits for brunch on a Sunday. I believe it was about $14.99 or somewhere around there. It came with four (4) baby shrimp. I have had shrimp and grits around the country from NOLA to Charleston, SC to the west coast. The portion size was tiny for the price tag but the taste was greater than mediocre. The bartenders on duty this past weekend were absolutely horrible. With a 30-45 minute wait at brunch, and 15 people seated at the bar, they didn't even attempt to offer to serve anyone standing at the bar a drink. It's a bar, where you sell drinks. The bartenders both looked at our group, both males and females, standing and waiting to order with cards, IDs and cash in hand. They turned away as if they didn't realize we were trying to order. Our group also went to Nashville the previous weekend to a brunch spot and the bartenders killed it. Served drinks to everyone including the people waiting 2 hours to get a table. This was the second time I have been to Stir. Both times just had horrible service, really expensive, mediocre food. There are better brunch spots on the NorthShore with shrimp and grits and mimosa specials. I doubt anyone in the group would ever go back to Stir and while everyone pretends that it's such an awesome spot, they're all full of it. Our server, I think Tanner, did an amazing job, was on top of it, and very pleasant to speak to. All in all, bartenders were horrible, food was above average but way too expensive, but the server we had was great. Someone else should pick her up at a better brunch spot! read more

Food was good but pricey. My husband ordered the New York Strip but the waiter ordered him the Filet instead. The waiter kept apologizing over & over for his mistake, but we still got charged for the filet. read more

It was very disappointing to dine at Stir on Saturday evening. The service was horrible and the dining room manager was very unprofessional in addressing our lacking service. We tried several appetizers which all were not very appealing. It definitely was not worth the money we spent. Save yourself from disappointment. read more

I visited for brunch and had a sub par experience. Food was bad and overpriced. I had the BLT and it was puny and lacked flavor. The cold bar that comes with all brunch items may have been the best part- good potato salad. $1 mimosas were a plus. My friends also had issues with their food. The friends that liked their food got seafood, so maybe stick to that. The service was slow and the waitresses didn't act like they knew anything about the menu. It was such a let down. I definitely won't be back for brunch, but I will go back to try some of the seafood options and the cocktails. read more

I've been to STIR a handful of times and I think they would have been better served by spending a bit more time on their menu. The menu comes across as a bit of an afterthought in my humble opinion. Drink menu ... check, Ice menu ... check, Lunch and dinner menu ... dang, I knew there was something we forgot. read more

Had a whiskey bramble and tried all 4 of their barrel aged cocktails. Man I am a beer drinker and I said to everyone "these are seriously some of the best drinks I have ever had!" Cool atmosphere. I saw some reviews below me on here that were complaining of no "intimacy", I mean who goes to a bar or out to eat and wants "intimacy"? Stay home then. The manager named Darrius was very helpful and recommended all of these drinks to me. He explained the whole ice thing. I thought it was a bust but after how he explained that its more dense so it will not water down your drink I was sold. Kinda cool that you cannot see it in your drink too. For how busy they were we had good service. Definitely coming back. read more

Great location and atmosphere. Very good food, just a little pricey; $13 for a cocktail.

Stir is alright. We have tried it multiple times and every time we left feeling like we wasted our money and would have been MUCH happier spending the same amount at Easy Bistro or Alleia. It isn't the worst, nothing was awful but when you're spending $13/ drink and at least $20/ plate you want to leave saying, "Wow, that was awesome." We've never had that feeling. read more

Stir, the new "hit" restaurant and bar really has it all - great bar, fantastically delicious entrees, fun Sunday brunch and a kitchen staff that makes sure the food is perfect! Service has been great each time I've been there from the friendly hostess who welcomes you with a big smile to the attentive table servers! On top of all that, Stir has got to be the most beautiful restaurant in Chattanooga! Located as part of the historic ChooChoo and fabulously renovated, the atmosphere can't be beat! So if you're with a crowd or just the two of you, you'll love Stir! read more

Right when you walk in you are stunned by how gorgeous this place is! The hostess are VERY welcoming and kind. Also very patient haha. Our waitress was so much fun and had such a bubbly personality. She made the environment fun and relaxing. The food... Order their fried green tomatoes. They are THE BOMB! One of my favorite dishes is their seared tuna salad. Perfectly seared meaty tuna with a perfect dose of dressing. Well done Stir, well done!! read more

I didn't want to add a review and wanted to message them instead, which is usually an option on Yelp. Guess they don't really want to hear from their customers. I frequent Stir often and my experience is usually good to great. Today it was AWFUL!!! I ordered the filet Benedict, mid-rare, got it and it was cooked well done. 2 others ordered the same meal and theirs were cooked the same way. The egg was hard boiled, I asked for another egg and it wasn't quite hard boiled but it was on it's way. What really pissed me off though was the bread was so hard I couldn't even cut into it with my knife. I had to remove it bc I was trying to cut it.... CUT IT...bread... you shouldn't have to freaking CUT bread... and ended up slinging my meal all over the table bc it was so hard the knife wouldn't cut through it and slipped slinging food all over me and my table! I ordered a pineapple mimosa, it was great, reordered and she brought me an orange. That's fine, except I never saw her again to switch it. I'm hoping this was a fluke experience and next week they will be back on track. I'll stick with my normal Steak and Eggs next week. read more

Visiting from out of town and had to stop by after reading about Stir in a magazine. My daughter and I grabbed seats at the bar where Chris cheerfully engaged us. My daughter is a whisky drinker and has her favorite drink there (she lives in Chattanooga and goes there frequently). I'm a martini girl but wanted to try something different so I told Chris what I usually drink and asked him to surprise me. He was more than happy to help me expand my horizons! What he made me I couldn't even describe but it was yummy! I've never heard of the things he put in but he mentioned lavender liquor. It was something I never thought I'd like. For my next drink he made me a gin/rum/pineapple drink (not at all tropical) that was just as good. He put in a sprig of sage (I think) and what I thought was a dash of pepper-but wasn't. So different then what I'm used to. The only negative is that I ordered a side of their grilled veggies and farro. It wasn't that great. There was very little farro, and the onions, celery and carrots were barely cooked. When I read "grilled veggie" I don't expect celery and carrots. I've had better. read more

We came here our last night of a friend vacation and it was great! 4 adults and two toddlers. The Yelp listing says it's not kid friendly so I was a little worried but we planned on eating outside so I thought it would be ok. I was very pleasantly surprised. They have a kids menu with good choices (another local restaurant that is "kid friendly" didn't offer kids meals?) & a coloring page with crayons. I ordered one kids meal to split between them and I was so hAppy when they brought it out already split in half, I've never been anywhere I haven't needed to do it myself or ask for an additional plate ( when they knew it was being split). Everything we ordered was awesome (scallop white truffle Mac, chicken picata, steak frites, raw oysters, lobster bisque, and kids Mac.) a friend ordered a slack jawed Jezebel but it was way too strong for her and they happily replaced it with the elderflower sour which was very good. The only reason for a 4 and not a 5 is because it was a little slow. This was a great pick!! read more
