This is my absolute go to eatery when I wanna take a break from diner life, the food is amazing the atmosphere is great. I love dining here. I usually don't like to sit at the bar but the server wasn't that attentive (this never happened before usually servers are great) and so we moved to the bar. When you sit at the bar the bartenders are so welcoming they know their stuff! We ordered two different steaks and They melted in my mouth like butter . We came into town for a short getaway with the family. Our first night we stopped in here for dinner. I would totally recommend this place. The atmosphere was great and the good was even better. They ARE family friendly. We have three young children (8,7, & 4 years old), and the server treated them as customers and not just kids. She went out of her way to suggest to us as parents what might be more delicious to the kids. As a parent, this is HUGE. Too often the kids order and we keep our fingers crossed the food is good to our kids and not too "adulted." It's just a few steps from the Choo-Choo. I'd come here again. read more

Stir is usually one of the recommendations I give to people who are asking for good restaurants in Chattanooga. It's a little pricey so I usually save it for special occasions. Came here for the first time in a while and had to get the chicken piccata. It is seriously the best dish on the menu! My other favorites include the scallops and shrimp mac & cheese and the scallops. Stir is really well known for their cocktails. Especially their artisan ice. My personal favorite is the Mountain Mule where it's made with Tennessee moonshine versus vodka. This last time I went the service was a little slow especially when the restaurant was dead and I've heard from other people that the service has declined recently. However, this will still remain of the places I recommend when people ask for my opinion. read more

This restaurant offers well decorated and designed indoor and outdoor areas. The wait staff is very friendly, helpful and attentive. We were not disappointed with the menu and drinks options. We were there for the oysters and they have them prepared in a variety of ways and were delicious, they even have a great oyster bar. We sat at the oyster bar which offers a great "chef's table" experience with a view of the kitchen line. The plethora of drink options allows for any drink under the sun and were a delight to enjoy with the view. We also ordered the charcuterie board appetizer. We appreciated the options provided on the board, because sometimes those boards can be very busy with a lot of options. However, if we were to share with more than just the two of us, I would have preferred a little more of the prosciutto. But it was a perfect portion for two. We ate dinner at STIR last night with some out of town friends because so many people recommended it. The space is huge and we had no problem getting a table on a Friday night which was great. The drink specials that ended at 6:30 PM are pretty awesome as well. I ordered the chicken caprese which was good, but I felt the chicken was just a tad too tough for the $16 price tag. Came here for a weekend getaway. When seeking raw oysters this place came up. Right in the middle of all the fun! Ambiance- 5 stars Craft Cocktails- are you kidding me? This place ROCKS. We spent $20 in Uber costs just to go back for one more drink before leaving town. Oysters- JAM! The staff we encountered were great- Mike on a Saturday afternoon, who probably thought we were stiffing him when I left my card and did not sign the tab. (thank goodness I needed my cc to get back on the bikes!) Then on Sunday night we came back for drinks with Amber and Lindy (sp?). They were great and made us feel welcome, despite being 2 of 4 poeople in the whole place. We will be back to Chattanooga and definitely to Stir. read more

Hands down best restaurant in Chattanooga. I've never had anything bad here: the waffle crusted chicken or shrimp and crab Benedict is my favorite at brunch time. At dinner I usually start with a dozen house oysters (best oysters in town!) then I go for something like the scallop and shrimp Mac or the shrimp and grits... seriously the seafood here is so fresh and prepared to perfection every time. Most weekends you can find me and my buddies here for brunch having mason jars of mimosa, for 10 dollars you get a huge mason jar full of champagne and juice of choice. What an amazing restaurant and top notch Bar! We ordered sooo many different foods and drinks because we couldn't get enough of it! We started with Oysters, then got shrimp and grits and the chicken piccata and the matcha green tea cheesecake! And wow! 10/10 across the board. High quality ingredients is really what makes the difference. Very well priced for the quality and ambience you get! Our server Ballie was so sweet and did an amazing job. When we got the check I realized I accidentally order $36 worth of speciality oysters, when I thought I was ordering the $20 house oysters. I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of STIR and it's finally here! There's so much to say. Of course, this is just opening and they are refining some things, but even with that, I give it a 5 star and I'm pretty stingy with my 5 stars. The space is gorgeous! They completely gutted the original building, keeping only the exposed brick and the beautiful windows that were preserved from the original Choo Choo Terminal. It looks amazing. The old and new blending perfectly. It's very spacious. There's a Community Table, booths, seating at the oyster bar, the cocktail bar and a large outdoor area that wraps around. The food - I've tried a few dishes and can say that I really love the food. The seafood ceviche with shrimp and scallops and avocado is so amazing. They serve it with crackers instead of tortilla chips, which I don't get. I ate it without the crackers. I also had the crab bisque. Really thick like more of a chowder but who cares. They can call it whatever they want, just keep it coming. It has an oil drizzle on top that gives it a nice flavor aroma. Lots of big chunks of crab. I could eat this all day. Another amazing dish is the scallops. Huge jumbo diver scallops, seared with roasted root vegetables in an orange miso sauce. Holy moly!!! This was probably the best scallops I've ever had. And they are very generous with the scallops. You get 5 of them !!!! Now the craft cocktails. I've already tried several of them. I'm normally a vodka gal but I've yet to have a vodka drink there. Whisky, moonshine, brandy, scotch, gin are used in ways that make me love them. The Whiskey Bramble is my fave so far. It's like a grown up shaved ice with lots of crushed ice. I don't know everything that's in it, just trust me and order it. The Ice. The ice is a subject all its own. There is an Ice Chef. What? That's right, a chef dedicated to making the best ice. Artisanal ice. Ice so pure it's clear as glass. Ice that is made to compliment the drinks, to even make them better, not just an afterthought. This place is also very affordable, which makes me very happy as I plan to go back many times to try everything! read more

This place set the bar for the rest of the trip. Our server, Courvoiser was AMAZING! We initially ordered the Tilamook cheeseburger but because of shortage issues, the staff suggested the sliders. The garlic Mayo on the burgers were great. The burger meat was well seasoned and had nice crisp edges. The fries were really good and were nicely seasoned with flaky salt pieces. First, thank you Stephanie and owners of the STIR for hosting our group. I attended this as an open house for YELP members.. thanks again Stepanie! It was not yet open but I think it opens this Monday. It is located on the corner of the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel (Holiday Inn) and right across from the Terminal Restaurant. I am not sure about parking but I know there is parking behind the Choo Choo but not sure if it is available. I was on my scooter so parking was not a problem for me. For our out of town guests I like to remind them if you downtown at the other end by the Aquarium or in between, there is a free shuttle that will drop you off right at the Choo Choo. The restaurant has high tops, regular tables, standup tables near the bar, outdoor seating and a long bar. The décor is rustic and top of the line. High ceilings and open floor plan was classy and something I would expect in a tourist town like San Francisco or any large city. I actually was excited about the place. We had a great turnout and the wait staff came around and took orders for drinks and they were friendly and very helpful. They were obviously proud and excited to be working there. They chef came out and talked about the food and service and then another gentleman gave us a demonstration of how they make their ice and how pure it is.. and trust me it was as clear as could be! The restaurant was full because they were hosting various groups to market and show off the new place. They had an awesome selection of mixed drinks and while they had draught beer (+1), the selection was less than I would expect for such a great place. When the food came out, it was just as impressive. They had oysters, shrimp, fries (cooked the way they should be.. might have been peanut oil) and other great samples of food. The meals will have to be great if what I had was any indication. I give it a 5+ and I suggest you give it a try... I will be.. and in fact the outside seating is for me.. well maybe when it warms up some. read more

Really enjoyed my experience at STIR. Walked in not really sure what to expect and was greeted by a friendly staff and gorgeous atmosphere. It's a really cool space-we sat at a high top table the the stools were very comfortable. Our waiter, Shawn, was awesome-friendly and outgoing and made some excellent recommendations for our appetizers, cocktails and entrees. We tried the dip plate (hummus, seafood, and pimento cheese) for an appetizer and it was delicious! The pimento cheese was my favorite-they served the dish with warm pita slices. For my entree, I ordered the grilled chicken caprese. The chicken was cooked very well-not too dry and just the right amount of seasoning. The mozzarella balls, basil and tomatoes that were served with the chicken drew out a refreshing and bright flavor. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the cocktail I was sipping on-I can tell you that it involved tequila, grapefruit juice and jalapeno. And was delicious. 10/10. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience, and look forward to seeing this wonderful business become a success in Chattanooga! read more

We first went to STIR for a Yelp event prior to it's opening to the public. While I tasted and adored a lot of the cocktails, I was too busy taking photos to get to try much of the food. So, we have been wanting to go back ever since. When we found ourselves down at the Choo Choo late on a Saturday afternoon, it was perfect. It was a little after 5 and we were seated immediately. The hostess was very nice when I said that I needed a table with lots of light. She explained that all of the lights would be dimming soon, so unless we wanted to sit at the bar, we didn't have a lot of options. We choose to sit at the table she had originally planned for us and decided to make do with the light. Our server, Angela, was at our table in seconds. She asked if we would like a cocktail and brought us some water. I couldn't remember what cocktail I had loved so much at the Yelp event, and settled on the Boxcar. My husband chose the Vieux Carre because of it's barrel aged liquor. Both were excellent. Everything sounded amazing on the menu, but we finally decided. I went with the Chicken Piccata and my husband went with the Chicken Caprese. According to the menu, the Grilled Chicken Caprese was tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, balsamic vinegar, farro, and roasted vegetables. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The farro and roasted vegetables were perfect and the balsamic vinegar was the perfect touch. According to the menu, the Chicken Piccata was chicken, white wine, butter, capers, farro, and roasted vegetables. Let me just say, I've had plenty of Chicken Piccatas in my life, and this hands down is my favorite. Instead of being served over pasta, it was served over a farro and roasted vegetables. The roasted vegetables were just a simple mix of carrots, celery and onions! It was all so simple, but perfect. The wine sauce was not too rich and the capers added the perfect pop of tartness. The chicken was tender and the breading was light and crispy. I love their use of farro and roasted vegetables. Farro is one of my favorite grains, I love the tender chewiness of it. I also like that they simply say "roasted vegetables" - this leaves it totally open to what's in season. Since it's February, the carrots, celery and onions were just what you'd expect. We will definitely go back, so much more on the menu, that we want to try. read more

Randomly dropped in for brunch this past Sunday and had a great experience. The prices were great - though the $10.95 just for the buffet was a bit much, if you ordered any of their entrees (ranging from $13 to $17), the buffet was included for free. Mimosas were $1 each or $2 for a double and were good and strong (as in, not just orange juice with a splash of champagne). I ordered the Country Grilled Cheese and Ham sandwich with french fries, and while the fries were average at best the sandwich was delicious. One friend had the shrimp and grits and practically licked the bowl clean, and the other ordered the Quiche Lorraine, which was good. Honestly I'm picky about Quiche Lorraine because I make a darn good one myself (if I may say so). Also the quiche was listed as coming with a baby green salad, but the one that came with it was iceberg lettuce? Not sure what was going on there. I tried a few bites off the buffet and while the cucumber, mozzarella, and tomato salad had a bit too many spices or something, the deviled eggs, mini cinnamon rolls, and chocolate chip cookies were all tasty. I'd definitely return here for brunch, especially if I wanted to drink - the Bloody Marys were on special, too, at $5 each...though in this case I was perfectly happy with the Mimosas for once :) read more

Easily the best bar in Chattanooga. After a disappointing visit next door at Terminal Brewhouse, we stopped here on a whim on the way back to our room at the Choo Choo, and I'm glad we did. The service was phenomenal. Our waitress was attentive and happy to suggest drinks. We were among the last guests in the bar, and she never seemed rude or impatient at all. The bartenders are very knowledgable and skilled. They crush the ice by hand and pay careful attention to the quality of your drinks. It's absolutely a craft-cocktail establishment and lives up to that billing. Finally, the decor is well done and, unlike most nearby establishments (namely the Brewhouse and the Choo Choo, which are both disgusting), this place has mastered the "vintage" vibe while still maintaining cleanliness. The building itself is old, but it's clean and well-maintained, rather than run-down. Can't say enough good things about this place. read more

Date Night material. Had a nice evening sitting outside on the patio. The tuna salad is my absolute favorite.
