More Irvine Starbucks reviews... This is by far one of the worst Starbucks I've been to. Except for the times I'm feeling like either a 16 year-old cheerleader in Ugg boots feening for my double-tall-nonfat-150 degree upside down-douchebag-accino or a 20 year old UCI sorority girl "studying" hard the night before my intro-to-basic econ final. Very loud, very crowded, insufficient seating given the fact it's across the street from 18,000 undrgraduates, small cramped patio, dirty and/or nonfunctioning bathroom, and like all other Starbucks, scarce wall outlets and pay-for-internet. I've been coming here on a regular basis for 3 years out of convenience. The space was recently renovated this past December/January. It's definitely a positive change because the updated bar area is more sleek. The new warm tones make it seem more welcoming which I like. As for service, it's always been the same. Baristas are hit or miss- but you can't really blame them with the the influx of obnoxious UCI students demanding their complicated orders. Trying to study here is difficult because it's hard to find a spot but the communal tables are a good place to camp out with some coffee and get some work done. All their drinks are pretty generic but I'm always up for iced black tea with strawberry or their seasonal caramel brûlée latte. #Basic but whatever....obviously this is not the place to go for a superior latte with coffee art but this Starbucks still gets 4 stars for consistency. read more

Ok, not a big fan of this particular starbucks locations. I mean seriously this is a coffee shop people and not a freakin library. Forget about trying to find a spot to sit, this place is constantly filled with college students and their laptops. Also you got people outside smoking all the time, they need to seriously post a sign to let people know that they need to stand 20 ft away. Also you got sleep deprived college students working the counter, who are constantly getting your order wrong or overcharging you for your drink. I dont think there was one positive thing about my experience here. I think ill be getting my coffee elsewhere. read more

This Starbucks just renovated in late December 2014 and it looks so much better than it used to that I figured it should have an updated review and rating. The interior has a much more modern and clean look to it, with much less clutter at the entrance. Now, when you walk in, you are not bombarded with heaps of merchandise. I don't really understand the low ratings for this Starbucks. It seems like a majority of the complaints are about how hard it is to find a seat and how many students there are. Um...it's by a university AND a high school..what did you expect?! You can hardly get irritated at the establishment just because there are lots of people there. I've ALWAYS gotten my drink in a timely fashion here and the staff have never been rude to me. That's pretty much all I ask for at a Starbucks. That being said..Starbucks is Starbucks. Worst Starbucks ever. I came here often when I was a student at UCI and I still come back every now and then and regret it every time. In the numerous years I've frequented Starbucks, I've never experienced such consistently bad service. (at least they're consistent about something?!) When asking for an iced coffee with a splash of milk, I get "the milk is over there". At all other locations I've been to, they're more than happy to do it. That is just the most recent annoying experience I can remember but I know I've left here annoyed sooo many other times. All of the employees seem miserable to work here...the morning ones, afternoon, evening...if you dislike customer service related jobs that much, find a different profession! This location is always packed (and slow) too so with all the other Starbucks around, I'd much prefer to go elsewhere. Avoid if possible!!! read more

The coffee here is always, always, always, always, ALWAYS burnt. There is a difference between dark roast and burnt. Generally speaking. But not here. Aside from that, if your coffee run purpose is a grab and run, this is the place to go - because it's always packed, so your chances of getting a table are slim to none. I like this Starbucks. I would pick this location over the one on the UCI campus everyday. and I am not being biased just cause I'm a regular and on a first name basis with half the baristas here. True, it is smaller than most Starbucks and it isn't the best place to study because people tend to show up early and study till forever, but that's what libraries are for. AND most of apartments at UCI (both associated and non-associated) have begun to add study centers in their complexes. Point is, the people here work WAY faster then the ones at school. They are much happier and more welcoming and they are happy to remake your drink if they mess it up and will let you take any messed up drinks on the bar if there are any so they don't have to throw it out. It is close to Uni High, so around lunch time, you will come across the high school crowd, and I honestly think there's so many UCI students here cause they prefer it over the one at school. I'm what you could call a "fan" of the Starbucks brand. Oh, I like hand-tamped espresso shots as much as the next coffee snob, but I have more than a few drinks I like and will order when I visit a Starbucks location. I'm also kind of a cheater, seeing as I've worked for the 'bux in the past and therefore have sampled almost all of their drinks and treats. This location is large and has a ton of seating, though it still manages to get busy enough to become cramped. This is no surprise seeing as it's near a University. For the most part, their employees are also really nice! Whenever someone is on register they greet me with a smile, and if the baristas on bar don't...well, I don't blame them. They're concentrating on making the orders. That being said, I can't give this location 5 stars. It seems like something is getting lost in translation from when they write on my cup, to what is actually made on bar. Now, an iced coffee at the 'bux used to come plain, and you had to request either flavoring (classic being the norm) or milk. Then, they changed it so it naturally came with sweetener and milk and you had to request it without those if you didn't want them...I'm really not sure what the deal is, because even though the person writing my cup seems to be writing it correctly, most of the time what I get is an iced coffee with milk and no sweetener...if I could get behind the bar and make it correctly myself I would, guys. Heck, I'd probably clean up a little and make some other drinks, too. I'm half tempted to wear one of the aprons I still own as a cape, then turn it around and jump in when I'm at this locale! If anyone working at the store is reading this, here's what we did at my old 'bux to fix that problem: A slash in the syrup box means "plain", and then write "Cl" for classic, or whatever other flavor. Even if you write "ICM" for iced coffee with milk in the drink box, you can write 2% or whatever in the milk box. Now so far, I haven't received an iced coffee without milk...but it's my standard drink and I've even got my boyfriend drinking it, which means I can order two of the same thing and just give you his name instead of mine. Please fix this, 'cause I really hate disrupting the flow of those on bar to ask for it to be fixed, but I also really hate drinking something wrong that I could have made just as good (if not better) at home. To the baristas who are writing the cups correctly and are always wearing a smile on the register, keep it up! I really like this starbucks location. Not only because it's close to where I live, but the workers are always so friendly. Service has been great every time Ive been there. Even when I come in the mornings when it's busy, the line goes by really fast. I've never had a bad tasting drink there. The only thing that people might not like is that it's always packed there. Since it's so close to UCI, it's a big study spot. This wouldn't be the place to come if you're just looking for a place to relax and enjoy your coffee. Quick and easy Starbucks close to the UCI campus. Maybe it's me, but I think the coffee tastes better here than at the Starbucks at UCI. Also at this place, they actually have the other roasts (dark, pike, light) already set or brewing so you can actually get the coffee that you want. I came here in the morning before heading over to UCI and the place had a few people already inside. There is a long communal table in the middle and there are small tables around the sides. The coffee tasted better to me. Got this blonde roast this time and the barista got it immediately. Stayed for a bit to get some stuff done and end up getting a refill before I left. If you have the time, come over to this Starbucks over the one on campus. The mood is more chill, the ambiance is more like other Starbucks and you can kind of get away from the all the students (kind of) read more

I was a regular at this Starbucks before I worked there for a year. I know this place better than I care to. There are some lovely regulars but most of the time this location is immersed in students studying. I don't mind it but it makes it hard to find a place to sit. The great thing about this location is that it is open until midnight each night of the week but the bad thing is that there will be constant rushes throughout the day so you're going to have to be prepared to wait in a long line. If you're not a patient person, do not come here. read more

This Starbucks is a give and take, pluses vs minuses, pros vs cons experience versus your control experiment Irvine Starbucks. You get a lot of UCI traffic in here and the place can often be found packed with people studying. Seating can be limited because of this. There seems to be a lot of lonely UCI med students here if you're a gold-digger looking for a long term investment. One distinguishing factor about this place is it's opened late just about every night and they serve high powered rocket fuel coffee to enable you to learn 5 weeks of o-chem in one night, take the test the next day, and forget everything right afterwards. It's also worth noting that you don't want to sit at the table next to the restroom since every time the door swings shut the forces of physics send a strong whiff your way of nauseating sanitizing agents. read more

I don't come to this starbucks as much as the one on campus, and the one on campus in my opinion is a better place to study at. This starbucks is way too noisy to try and study. Believe me I have tired even went outside but it ended up being too windy and my papers were flying everywhere. if you don't mind the noise this one maybe better because there is more places to sit and put your books as well as plenty of outlets to plug in your computer. The one on campus does have more outdoor seating though. read more

Wonderful staff and fast! As soon as my order is taken, I usually use the restroom and by the time I am out; my drink is guaranteed to be there. If they messed up on something, be polite about it and ask them to remake it for you, as the morning rush and mobile orders can be a pain in the ass for them, I feel that. They usually only have two people on bar in the morning, and it can be difficult for them to take their sweet time for one drink. The seats and tables are a bit small and close to one another and the lighting is a little bit dim, so I usually like to sit outside as they do provide shade. read more

It is chock-full off students doing homework/studying. Ummm, how can you??? It is loud, cramped and totally distracting. Is there NOT a library at your school??? I'm a very simple coffee drinker. As long as it has a strong coffee taste, then I'm good. My go-to drink at Starbucks is usually an Americano with steamed soy. This Starbucks makes it the best (compared to others ones I've been to). I'm always satisfied with the taste, temperature, and amount of soy I get. Workers are super friendly. Great place to study if you don't mind background noise but good luck finding a seat. Overall, one of my favorite Starbucks locations. read more

I come here whenever I need to stay awake for a long night of studying. Sure, the library is a great place to study, but I somehow seem to get better grades after studying at this Starbucks. It must be super lucky for me or something haha. Whenever I come here, I would bring my laptop or a book and enjoy the environment because it's definitely warm, welcoming and lively! You can also take advantage of the refill system or take a break from college and just catch up with friends here. I come here quite often and always get the Passion Iced Tea w/ sweetener, it tastes sooooo good though it's quite simple. It's only $2.65 for a venti too! I actually bought this today and after finishing it while studying, I went to go get a refill, the employee told me that there were no more refills at this time, and I actually believed him until he was like "Oh I was just kidding" with the straightest face ever. I normally only check-in to Starbucks but this location, I must write a review. I never seem to have a good time here, ever! Why??? I'm not sure if it's because it's finals season and everyone's in a cruddy mood but service at this location was horrible today. I asked for a refill on my iced coffee and the barista gave me a nasty attitude. The second time I tried to get a refill, a different girl barista who was at the register had a bad attitude as well. Also the first guy whispered something to her while looking at me... Probably regarding my first refill. Not sure what's going on here but the workers need to get it together. Even the past couple times, the seatings are very limited since it is right next to UCI. Wifi is incredibly slow. I wouldn't even say the drinks are well made at this location. I normally do not critique service at Starbucks. Workers normally seems to be quite friendly and welcoming but I always seem to get weird vibes at this location. Sad to say, I will not be returning to this location and wouldn't recommend it unless they decide to shape up their workers and service! :/ read more

all the workers are very nice and i get sbux here cus it's the closest to me!! however i always get a frappe on mobile and always order on mobile and write No Whip Cream. every time i go to pick up my order they give me whipped cream :((( at first i thought i forgot, but i check the sticker on my drink and every time i have remembered to have written No Whip (and its written right there!)... i usually just ask them to remove it, but sometimes removing it gets rid of 1/4 of the drink lol, as well as just giving them more extra work to remove it? at least the workers are always very sweet when it happens, but i just wish it could be avoided! read more

This is just like any other STBKS. You've got the people who are serious baristas and take time to make sure that their customers love their drinks (which is what starbucks aims to do!). Then, you've got the ones who halfass your drinks just so the line/crowd of people waiting for the drinks goes down. This place was my home when I went to high school. That says a lot... essentially, this place is constantly filled with people studying and working. Can't find anywhere to sit, chill, or read a food. Don't even bother asking someone to grab a coffee here cuz the whole place will hear your conversation. Restroom is nasty. Takeaway: this place is really a library. It's a chain coffee shop. What is there really to say. Most people have had Starbucks so you know what it tastes like. Starbucks is the McDonald's of the coffee world. That being said, Starbucks is not my go to shop for coffee. What I can talk about is location and layout. This is near UCI so there are lots of tables and one really nice big table in the center. Decided to stop by here with my gf since it was the last day for buy one get one free on holiday drinks. It was so crowded so we had to wait for like 30 minutes. I got the caramel latte which tasted okay but as I was finishing up my drink, I felt something weird in my mouth. I really like this Starbucks. It's down the street from where I live, and I come here often to for late night study sessions. There's plenty of seats and outlets, but it gets really crowded. I like that it's very lively. I enjoy seeing other students and people studying for their midterms/finals/MCATs/GREs. Plus, the employees here are very nice people. Besides all that, it's still a great place. I'm moving farther away from this Starbucks next year, but I think I'll still go here for my Chai tea lattes. read more

This is an itsy-bitsy Starbucks, filled with UCI students. The music is way too loud, but I couldn't decide if that was to help drown out all the loud talking going on, or if the music was just too loud, forcing the patrons to talk louder. It was a symphony of noise and I couldn't wait to get out. There is zero atmosphere at this location, no fireplace, no comfortable couches or overstuffed chairs,no tucked-away quiet corners, nothing that could make me want to stay. read more

...well, a Starbucks is a Starbucks. They don't get any better but they're also not too shabby either. I generally get a venti white chocolate mocha frappe with soy and three pumps of peppermint syrup and no whip cream. It's a fairly complicated order, or so I hear, but they have yet to mess up my drink once. Service is generally pretty fast, unless I go during prime coffee times. The baristas are pretty fast at cranking out drinks and they seem to have a lot of fun. For those of you who are bikers, there are bike racks next to the main entrance of the Chase behind the Starbucks, as well as two or three racks nearby at Albertsons. A few downsides - I went yesterday when it was over 95 degrees outside, but management decided to skimp on the A/C. The baristas were all visibly sweating. Ick. This Starbucks also seems to be a popular place to study at during the midterm and final exam seasons at UCI, so an open table and seat can be a rare thing here. Forget the Starbucks on UCI's campus. open early.. and SOMEWHAT late close. THIS PLACE DOES TAKE STARBUCKS REWARDS CARDS BENEFITS!!! As opposed to the ridiculousness you find at UCI's starbucks which does NOT take the benefits. The service here is okay at most. A lot of people are chill which I don't mind but they don't really take their time making drinks and kind of fool around. There is a large study table and a bar type counter on the window wall so you can study on although it gets filled quickly throughout the day so it's pretty hard to call dibs on a spot. It's a common spot for craigslist deals and Irvine Popo tend to hang out here occasionally so beware... also it is connected to CHASE BANK so it can be a convenient spot if you require the use of both! read more

Not the best Starbucks but not the worst. What can one expect from a super busy student-run corporate coffee shop? For it, it's not that bad, it could be A LOT WORSE. They did use to have good prices but then they kinda raised them to ALL THE OTHER STARBUCKS, so that kinda sucks. They do give out good service though. The place is usually super crowded and there ARE NOT ENOUGH PLUG IN OUTLET THINGIES which makes me a bit sad. The restrooms are pretty clean though sometimes they don't have soap or paper towels, which kinda sucks. I accidentally checked into the wrong location, so I'm rating the location on the UCI campus. All times that I've gone here, I've received okay service. The service takes longer than when you go to an off campus Starbucks. Also, I've come in using gift cards and have asked them to transfer money over to just one card, only to be told they cannot do it on their registers. *Note: you can do this, I've had it done at other locations, so I'm not sure why the barrista at the register refused to help me out. Needless to say, I had to walk out of the store for the umpteenth time carrying a gift card that had less than a dollar on it! Ah. At least they were nice enough to write how much I had on each card, so next time I can just come in and use off my lower amount card. i always have bad experiences at this starbucks so i try to avoid it as much as possible. either the workers are incompetent or distracted but tonight im not giving them the benefit of the doubt because they werent busy. there was no one else in line. i only went because my dad invited me. i ordered a butterscotch hot chocolate with only one pump of sweetener. after tasting it and finding it surprisingly bland, i thought maybe thats just how it tastes w less sweetness. i did ask for whipped cream though. i couldnt taste the butter scotch nor the chocolate but i thought it was just the sweetness lacking. i opened the lid: yup. i just made my dad pay $5 for a cup of hot milk. last time i came here, i ordered a salted caramel mocha. they gave me just a plain mocha. when i showed them how it was just a plain mocha, they remade it....and again, i got a plain mocha with a spurt of caramel. no salt. sigh. im never coming back here. i wish i had gotten the names of the workers but for now, this will do. read more

This has been my go-to Starbucks since I was a freshman 4 years ago. Pros: -- Closes at midnight! Latest closing Starbucks I've ever heard of. -- Never ever encountered a terrible Barista here in all 4 years. For the most part everyone is pretty nice. Cons: -- It is always about 10 degrees in here. -- Internet connection SUCKS! Needs to be improved... -- If you come on a weeknight, 9 times out of 10 you will have to leave because there are no more seats available. Yes, this is a super busy Starbucks, but like the other reviewer said..... it is across the street from a college university AND a high school....... 1+1=2?? This Starbucks is the perfect place to visit if you have to study or need to get a lot of work done. Lots of studying space either at the long table that they have in the middle or on the edges in one of the smaller circular tables, or even in the back along the window. They are also open until midnight pretty much everyday so that is an added bonus if you are looking for a place that's open late in Irvine. There aren't many places to choose from after 9pm in Irvine so this Starbucks gets really busy, really fast. One thing you should know before coming: It's like an icebox in here so bring a jacket. Even if it's triple digits outside you'll need the jacket after about five minutes inside. This is my biggest and only complaint about this Starbucks. I enjoy it for about 2 minutes and then my body starts to long for warmth. The baristas here are nice for the most part and work quickly to get your drink out fast. It's right across from UCI so expect a lot of college kids at this location. read more
