My go-to for Starbucks while I'm not on campus. The Starbucks at campus don't offer you the reward when you earn enough stars... which is one of the reasons why this Starbucks off campus is usually my favorite/go-to. The baristas here are nice and they usually get my drink ready within 5minutes. Even through peak hours, they still managed to have the big smile on their face and serve you the right way. Customer service does a lot of the business and this Starbucks here is totally better than the one at student center on campus. I would recommend coming here to get drinks if you don't have class on campus for a while since the staff here are nicer and there's tables/chairs for you to study at. I actually really like this Starbucks location. The workers here are always so friendly and smiley. Even when they have their promotions like during their annual buy one get one free holiday drinks deal when the line goes out the door and its super busy and crowded the baristas/cashiers are still really welcoming and cheery. I always leave this Starbucks in a good mood. As for the coffee, well, Starbucks tastes like Starbucks. There's really nothing more to say than that. Compared to the UCI campus location drinks are definitely better quality (probably because the student workers at the UCI location don't care to make quality drinks - it always tastes so watered down over there) and I prefer walking a little farther to get something here than over on campus. This location is always crowded with students studying and using the wifi so don't expect to find a place to sit down and enjoy your coffee right there. It's also rather small (compared to the Starbucks on campus). Overall I prefer the drinks they make here, but I like the size and set up of the Starbucks on campus more (so buy your drink here, then bring it to the campus Starbucks to drink it LOL). My go-to drink is always the green tea frap with whipped cream! :) read more

I've been coming to this SB for years. They recently updated it to make it more college campus friendly. They made this very large table to accommodate a bunch of students with their gear. My go-to and favorite Starbucks anywhere. I go to UCI and I have to drive off campus just to get my coffee here. The service and staff here are so kind, inviting, patient, and helpful. My clumsy friend spilt coffee all over the floor and the staff was quick to help!They even gave us a new drink even though it was my friend's fault. This is the location near UCI, there is one on campus, well this one is on Campus Dr, not on the campus. Confused? This location has a mix of students and some business folks from the area. It's also in the same parking lot as an Albertsons and some restaurants on the opposite side of the parking lot. Be aware that there are plenty of signs letting you know that if you are going into the college, don't park there. As for the service, this one actually stands out as one of my favorites. If it were rated on JUST the drinks, it would be 4 stars. But this is close to a lot of the college apartments and there are always a lot of people studying here. THere has not been a time where there has been an half-empty table for the store. Regarding the drinks, they make it so much better than the Starbucks that is on campus of UCI. They are not as good as the ones I have in my hometown, but they're pretty close. Close Starbucks right down the street from UCI. Due to being so close and being open late, it's always crowded. It's almost impossible to find seats after 8 pm and the line is always long in the AM. First of all, it's a very nice open area with a huge communal table and 9-10 other tables inside. The outside has some patio seating on both sides. There are a decent amount of outlets under the communal table and each additional table has some outlets. It's a great place to study if you can find a seat. The service is pretty normal here. Not super friendly but not rude. They're also not the most attentive. Sometimes I feel like they hire high schoolers here. The drinks here are not that great. I ordered a pumpkin spice latte with coconut milk and it was disgusting. It was of course overly sweet and my girlfriend said it tasted like melted candles. On the bright side, the ice water is always free haha. read more

I don't know what it is about this particular Starbucks but my drinks are always wrong. I go to Starbucks on a regular basis and this is, unfortunately, the closest one to my home. Almost regularly my lattes never taste right. It's as if they purposely do not add the correct amount of syrup to conserve it. For $5 a latte, I want my drink made correctly. It's incredibly inconvenient when I am a place a mobile order and I'm in a rush, just to drive off, taste my drink and realize it was made wrong. I have wasted so much money at this location from not being able to turn around. I now never leave without tasting my drink and then have to wait an extra 10 minutes for them to remake it. To make matters worse when I explain that it tastes like they didnt add the right amount of syrup, they then add too much syrup as if to prove a point and it's equally as awful. I don't understand why every other Starbucks I visit in Orange County can make a consistent latte except this one. I probably visit 10 other Starbucks in the area because I'm always traveling and they are always on point. They also don't have an attitude when you ask them to remake a drink. I was meeting a friend here for coffee today but I ended up having to purchase the stuff and meet them over on the side where they were getting a haircut. Anyway... the staff were incredibly friendly, very efficient. I even had to get their opinion as to what I could get my friend since the only thing I had to go by was 'something cold and coffee flavored'. They suggested something which I got and my friend absolutely loved it. There are a lot of students on their laptops in there and they actually have these work stations in there specifically for laptops. Pretty cool. The location is kind of small which is weird since it must cater to sooooo many UCI students. But still, friendly staff, friendly attitude.... would definitely come back again. read more

THE GIST: It's a Starbucks guys....you pay the premium for average coffee and overpriced blended drinks, but they're trying to sell you on "THE EXPERIENCE" .. okay.. we don't buy into that either, but we still have love for this particular Starbucks.. mainly because it was convenient and the Baristas. Recognition and memorizing our regular drinks makes you feel SPECIAL ;). We have been coming here for about 5 years now and it's really the Baristas who make it. Despite the fact that this place is usually packed with UCI students (such as myself,) it's not impossible to get seats! The service is usually always good & the drinks I've ordered for the past 3 years have been consistently good. It can tend to get noisy at times but it's nothing a pair of earphones couldn't help. This Starbucks... the one closest to campus, the one that takes gift cards on their computers and gives you your free drink/food item when you let them know (UCI students who go to the Starbucks on campus will know what I'm talking about)... what can I say? Not much, it's not a place I would particularly study at, it's always filled with students who table sit for hours and it's pretty difficult to find a seat near finals, that's why I always go a few miles out of campus for a Starbucks...although they don't open as late. Most of the baristas are pretty chill, and the lines move pretty fast, unless theres that one a**h*** that orders 5 million drinks or want some crazy request that makes even me go ugh. But then I have a short fuse so anyone standing in line for more than a minute gets me thinking, "what the hell is wrong with them?" Drinks and food is pretty standard, there is a way to make drinks and a way to make food, if they mess it up, then they probably shouldn't be working at Starbucks. At least the ones that don't have crazy requests. They took one of my funky requests the other time, blended passion fruit lemonade. I swear they looked at me like I was crazy, but it was like a very enjoyable icy Oh I uploaded a picture of this pretty neat collage or artwork or whatever on top of the cashiers/baristas, you have to stand back closer to the windows and look up to see it, but I thought it was pretty neat when I saw it. Drinks were standard. However, they have the rudest workers I've ever witnessed working at a Starbucks. Not only was I blatantly ignored while standing first in line, but the person who was supposed to take my order beckoned for the person behind me to order when it was my turn. Before that, the worker asked if i was waiting for something and I clearly said I was waiting to order. When I stepped up instead to take my order, I didn't get any "what can I get for you?" I was just met with a silent stare like I was unwelcome. It's not a bad place to come study, but there are always a ton of people here on their laptops and unless you're comfortable getting buddy-buddy with the kid next to you, I wouldn't try to squeeze my way into a seat. It's more empty over the summer, so it's not too bad. Free wi-fi and lots of outlets, so if you do choose to stick around, you're set. Drinks are not terrible but not spectacular, which is partially due to the fact that it's a Starbucks. I'd vie for this one instead of the one on campus because they actually know how to make the drinks well. The employees here are actually pretty friendly and knowledgeable. My favorite hot drink is the Peppermint Mocha, which is advertised during the Christmas season, but it's actually available, all the time since peppermint syrup is always available here. Drinks: I've always been -meh- about Starbucks coffee so maybe it's just me. I ordered a venti latte after recently discovering my love of lattes, but was really disappointed. It tasted like someone just dumped lukewarm milk into coffee - no froth and no depth to the flavor. I guess by coming to Starbucks, I should've had low expectations, but really, how can you mess up a latte? Ambiance: I came here to get some studying done, but quickly decided to leave after 30 minutes of absolutely FREEZING. It's your typical Starbucks. Clean, open, and moderately priced. The baristas are nice and friendly, though they can seem a bit overwhelmed during rushes. Nearby parking is generally available, with the exception of lunch and after-work hours, when it can be impossible to park in the shopping center. Seriously, Irvine locals can get verbally and physically aggressive when they're pressed for time. It basically serves as a hangout/study space for nearby UC Irvine, University High School, and Concordia University, with a lot of students living nearby. Their hours reflect that, as they are open until midnight most days. However, unless you show up before 7am, there's little chance of finding an open table or chair during midterm and finals season. Have known people to spend 5+ hours here. Unless you're already at the shopping center or wanting to scout for a long-term study/work space, I couldn't recommend this Starbucks over the many others nearby. read more

The employees here have consistently half-listened to my order while chatting and laughing with other employees at the same time. They don't greet me or even look at me while taking my order because they are too intrigued in the sweet gossip the other employee is telling them. This ends up resulting in them making my order wrong/putting whipped cream on when I said I don't want any. I understand that people make mistakes, but the part that irritates me is that this has happened nearly everytime I have come; and always for the same reason. It's partially my fault for not being more assertive and demanding their attention, but I don't want to come off as a jerk to people who are about to make something I'm going to drink. I visit this location twice a week and I'm always impressed with the calm demeanor of the baristas despite how busy this store is. I'm so glad I was there tonight because I felt the feels tonight and it really made me realize that there are still some good people out there. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail but I forgot to order my coffee decaf, so the barista made it and that's when I realized my mistake. I asked them if they could please make me a decaf and apologized profusely and they very nicely started preparing a decaf. Then the barista on the bar asked me if I wanted to give my original coffee to someone and I did and it made me feel so good to be able to hand someone else a cup of coffee that they were so incredibly grateful for.
