Just why do I even try... Had to try to print something from an email, and needed a little help. Stood there and watched the gal behind the counter do everything she could to not help...I mean seriously....if a customer is standing in line at the print center register, wouldn't it be prudent to make some eye contact, even say "I'll be right with you", or wait for it....actually walk over and say "what can I help you with?" Worst customer service ever! I was in a hurry and ask if an employee could help me get the few things I needed. The store was completely dead. Zero customers besides me! Two employees just standing there. They told me to go down different aisle over and over. Finally I asked for them to please help me! Andrew took me to the same aisle I was down and said they didn't have it. I look over and it's right there. He didn't care to try and help me at all. Don't order anything customized through Staples.com. If something goes wrong with an order such as a machine breaking, your order is lost. I spent quite a bit of time creating a business card through their site which I customized and had just the way I wanted. Later, I get a call that their machine is down. So the La Habra Staples offers to cancel my order and send it to the Brea Staples. Well, their machine was down too. And I was told by the rep that all the machines are down in the entire district. Wow! And on top of that I would need to come in and remake my order because they don't have it and cannot retrieve it. And when I come in to remake my order, they will need to send it to yet another location which will then have to ship the cards to me. No offer was made of free shipping or anything to ease my troubles. When I went to the website to look up my order, I kept filing in the form and it kept on sending me to the same page to fill in the form again. So all the time I spent making my business card was wasted. And I was on the phone with two reps describing that problem. I do credit the woman at the La Habra store who actually apologize and really tried to accommodate me. However, the guy at the Brea store just kind of laughed about how the website didn't work and how it wouldn't save my project so that I could at least re-order at some future time. I needed those cards within a specific time frame. Staples La Habra at least tried to fix the problem. Staples Brea did not deliver. The repair guy is expected three days from now. However, I have cancelled my order and have already ordered at Walgreens.com. When I went back to Walgreens.com after ordering to see if they still had my project so I could re-order in the future, it was still there. So I'll be making business cards with them from now on instead of Staples despite having to pay a bit more. read more

He listen to our needs and showed us the printers that would be best for us. They were not the most expensive printers, which impressed us further. Its so easy I had to print a presentation . I went to staples online and uploaded my file for 120 pages and put in my specs, choose comb binding a vinyl cover and I was done the cost for the whole job was for $15. I drove by and picked up the prints and did not have to pay as my coupons covered the cost. So Staples is amazing. They have a very easy web print application. I know Staples needs to pay rent... but maybe if they had cheaper prices more people would shop in the store. Went in to get some 'in box' type stackable file bins. Anything that looked like you'd want it on your desk was like 30 bucks for just three levels of trays. I ended up just buying the $14 6pack of plastic bins. I know they cost about 5 cents to make, and they sell for $5 each when purchased individually...... so even though 6 for $14 seems like a 'deal' I felt ripped off. This review is for their online service. I regularly order supplies for the office online with an in-store pick-up. I've received emails on several occasions where my notification tells me my order is ready for pick-up. I've learned from my past mistakes to call the store before you go into Staples thinking your order is going to be ready. I placed my last order on a Friday. I had an email on Monday at noon that my order was ready for pickup. I called the store to confirm and after being on hold for minutes they came to the conclusion that my order was not ready for pickup. I called back on Tuesday and start telling the guy, "look the email says you have my order." After being on hold for another minutes the "manager" or who ever she was lets me know that my order is ready for pickup. The first gentlemen on the phone said he could not find my order blah blah blah. When I went into the store he apologized for the confusion and said he was looking under the wrong name. Ummm... I told you my name very clearly several times. Whatever is going on at this Staples needs to be fixed. Maybe some better training or communication might help. read more

There were no customers waiting and I was attempting to ask him about the FAX machine reading "Deep Sleep" when he waved his hands across his throat in the gesture that means - zip it, shut up, don't talk or I'll cut your throat. If you're retired or have the patience of a Saint, then this store is for you.. 12 minutes waiting for the cashier to perform a simple transaction from a woman buying one sheet of construction paper, Cashiers try to up sell you on anything they can and DON'T care how many people in line they are holding up.. This is not one occurrence, they do this for ALL paying customers, so if your not someone like me who cuts them off short, you'll be there for at least 5 minutes, and they only have ONE cashier with over 6 people in line, that's a 30 minute wait if you're #7.. As for returns, if you pay by debit card, expect a 5 day wait for the credit to appear on your bank statement, since they refuse to do cash refunds on purchases using your ATM/Debit... This is why consumers HATE shopping in stores like these, the waiting is dreadful. read more

Awful. I bought regular binders. The sign said if $7.99 each, unless you buy 3 or more, then they are $5.00 each. I was in a hurry and I didn't pay attention to my receipt and was charged $7.99 each and I had to go all the back to the store. You'd think the employees would know this. I had to tell them their sign says if you buy more then 3, their price is $5.00 each. Not one person said sorry for the error. I won't be going back there. I'll stick to Amazon. read more

This review is only for the copy center. I came here to do some self-serve photocopying and have them bind the pages for me. They have 2 self-serve black and white machines and one color machine. There were only two people at the copy center and they were super busy, but still took the time to help me with the machines and make sure I was doing ok. I had two sets of material I needed to get bound and even though they were swamped, they managed to get my order done ASAP. When I got home, I realized I was missing a few pages (a mistake on my part). I called them and asked if I could come back in and get it re-bounded without a charge. They said yes and when I went back in, they helped me right away! Great customer service at the copy center :) read more

I like this Staples because of the cheaper sales tax. Although I could relate to previous posts: I had a really hard time ordering a stamp with them. I wanted to see what my image would look like with an actual size stamp, took two people and 10 minutes later that they couldn't do that... weird. Anyways, I haven't had much problems with them since. Probably because I haven't done much "service" oriented items. I do like their rewards program. If you stay informed, you can get hooked up with free pens, paper and batteries! It's all about knowing how they work and working the system. Plus side, if you pay with your Staples Rewards, they don't charge tax. It's way better than Office Depot and my better alternative. read more

By far the worst Staples I've ever experienced. Waited in line for 20 minutes to buy a single item. The one cashier (6'3, short brown hair) was doing a return transaction. He needed his manager to approve the return he was doing. There was about 5 people in line including myself waiting. The customer the cashier was helping insisted on helping the next customer in line which was myself. The cashier looked at all of us and said "oh no thanks. it's a long process to do a return so I can't simply go back". Yeah, I call bullsh*it. I use to work in retail and that is not the case. You are being lazy and don't want to help. Instead, you would rather flirt with the customer and waste our time. Never going back to this Staples ever again! I came here for the copy print center for a simple task of printing 2000 card sized files. I was promised they would be complete the next day by 930Am. Upon my arrival they have not been started and I have to wait an additional 1-2 hours to receive the order. This is unacceptable. As a business professional deadlines matter and if I would have known they could not complete my order on time I would have gone to a different print center, rather than jeopardize my own reputation for delivering on time. I would recommend anyone planning on using Staples copy center to do so with caution. The staff is often unorganized and make promises they can't deliver or are not efficient enough to complete their orders on time. Additionally once produced, the images were not perfect. So I paid more for something that was late and not done correctly. read more

I'm a long time customer who uses Staples for all of my families office supply needs. Quite disappointed today by their customer service, as I went in with an unopened item that was purchased at this location about 6 months earlier. I did not have the receipt, but knew that they could find records of purchase with your Staples Reward number. My intention was to trade in the item for a different model, not seek cash or credit refund. Felt like a criminal as cashier questioned me 'are you sure you bought it here' 'maybe you forgot to use your rewards number' and ' do you think someone might have given it to you as a gift', ultimately ending with her statement to me...' we cannot accept returns on items not purchased here'. I politely told her I purchase all of my office supplies at Staples, I am a loyal customer, and could she please look thru her system again. She told me ' it is not there sir, I looked. You did not purchase this item at Staples' At that point I was finished. Went home to do some shopping on Amazon. And these box stores wonder why customers don't come around any more? The store manager (Joshua) should be terminated and permanently marked with some sort of brand to thwart any future attempts to seek employment in a role involving interaction with people. Earlier today, I was browsing online and contemplating the purchase of a new laptop. The HP Pavilion that I purchased from Staples just over 3 years ago finally succumbed to the dreaded hinge failure, and despite my best efforts to open and close it with a gingerly touch, I can see the inevitable end is near. I found a great deal on a new Toshiba on Staples.com. "Need it in a hurry?" the site beckons. Choose a store and your order will be ready for pick up within two hours. Great! Unfortunately, the laptop I've selected isn't available at my local (Yorba Linda) location, so I opt for the Brea location where there is one remaining in stock. The confirmation email comes at 4:39 PM, and I'm now just two hours away from a much needed new laptop. One hour later....no email stating that my order is ready to be picked up. Two hours later....no email stating that my order is ready to be picked up. I checked my bank account, and sure enough, there is a charge for $755.99 posted to the account two hours earlier. I decided to take a drive down to the store to get this sorted out. On arrival, I'm greeted by a friendly employee who asks if I need any help. I asked where to pick up online orders (there is no signage in the store indicating where to go), and he says that he would be happy to assist me. He takes my name, goes to the store room, and returns with empty hands and a perplexed look. He said he was unable find the order. Enter the arrogant manager from hell (Joshua), who quickly tells me that the order is "still processing" in the system, and if I don't believe him, I can walk around the counter and see for myself. He said that he will check stock, and if they have the laptop, I can pay for it and be on my way. I let him know that I've already been charged, to which he replied that I'm wrong and my card has not been charged. I offer to log into my account and show him the charge. The limits of my patience were officially exceeded when he told me that any duplicate charge, if one even existed, could be refunded later. He blamed the issue on "Staples" and said that for 99% of purchases, the order is processed and pulled within 10 minutes. That's of little comfort when you're in the 1% that gets charged and does not receive the merchandise. No offer to make a call and get this resolved...arrogant insistence that I have not been charged...and condescending remarks until I leave the store with a firm commitment never to return. Now, 4 hours after placing my order, I don't have a new laptop, I have $755.99 less than I had earlier today, Staples is closed for the day, and I'm writing this review on my old laptop with the rickety hinge hoping it continues to function long enough to warn others about dick that manages this store. ****UPDATE**** Just when I thought this transaction couldn't get any worse, this store proves there are no limits to how low they can sink. The weekend has passed, and the two hour pick up window touted on Staples.com has now grown to two days. Finally, an email arrives stating that my order is ready to be picked up. It's a Christmas miracle in May! As I begrudgingly prepare for a trip to the store, a subsequent email from Staples follows just a few minutes later..... "Your Staples pick up items have been cancelled" Cancelled? I didn't cancel the order. A quick call to Staples customer service reveals that someone in the Brea store cancelled the order and indicated, "Customer cancelled order and no longer wants this item." I did not cancel this order. I explained the history to the customer service representative, to which she responds, "Wow...that's horrible. I'm very sorry. Is there anything else that I can help you with?" No need...the hold time afforded me the opportunity to find the same laptop for less money on Amazon.com. Adios, Staples! read more

Employees have the patience of saints - when I was in there today a nightmare customer was screaming at the cashier, mocking the way she talked and generally giving the employees a hard time.
