Only downside was that my girlfriend and I sat near where the food is picked up from the kitchen and one of the waitresses was very annoying demanding and requesting orders from the cooks. Looking at the crowd waiting outside the door of Stacks, we knew there would be a wait. So, we added ourselves on the waiting list and then, went to grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Aha! So this is the way a breakfast should taste. Thank you so much for clearing that up! Stacks is one of those breakfast joints that stops serving after 2pm. You would hope they are good at what they do, and indeed they are! I am told they have wonderful Biscuits & Gravy, but being lactose intolerant I am, that is not one of the things I am willing to suffer for. We didn't make any reservations, so we had a little bit of a wait. No big deal! It wasn't that chilly outside, even for a December afternoon! Oh wait, we didn't want to sit outside! Oh well, no big deal. :) If we had asked, they probably would have let us wait a little longer for an inside table. I finally got to try their famous banana macadamia pancakes my friend has been raving about! I went to Hawaii... and wow, Stacks' beats Hawaii, no doubt! We put our names down and walked around the Farmers Market and hung out with dogs outside. I think Stacks is worth the wait, as long as you're with the right people. This is currently my favorite breakfast type diner. For me the key is that the French toast is great. An added bonus is that I actually like the pancakes. I don't usually like pancakes, it's so hard to get the sweet spot with just the right amount of fluffiness and a little chewiness but these are the best I've had in a long time. And I'm a real snob when it comes to French Toast. Note that there are two really different competing paradigms for French toast: perhaps the more traditional French style "pain perdue" (wish they had proper italics here) which is supposed to be gooey and custardy, or alternatively the "Texas toast" style that's supposed to be more cake-like. I'm not a fan of the gooey kind, even if it may be more traditional for French toast. In fact I can't stand it. Fortunately, they make it *just* the way I like it here! The French toast here is satisfactory, which is rare enough for me to be worth 5 stars. The rest of the food that I've had also all lives up to my expectations. The bacon is *really* good. The waffles are really nice too. The only thing I don't like is the particular kind of pork link sausage they serve, it's very high quality but I'm not a huge fan. I don't usually order link sausage anyway so that's no problem for me. The other great thing about this is that if you're like me, not much of a morning person, you can get all the breakfast goodies until 2 pm. And finally, the staff and servers are super friendly and nice... and so are the customers, in my experience! It feels like a nice little friendly neighborhood diner here, I've had some nice chats with people at the counter. So this is a pretty satisfying place all the way around. read more

Rather than taking care of it properly it left the diners eating food they did not care for and feeling unappreciated and not listened to No matter what restaurant I have dined in whether it was an inexpensive restaurant or an expensive restaurant any complaints have been handled immediately by offering to remake the food from scratch whatever the issue was with the food Now keep in mind I have had this dish several times successfully enjoyed it but not this last time. It was the garden crêpe the crêpe itself was very doughy undercooked and the insides were actually not really cooked. The potatoes were more on the raw side then cooked. When the server asked us how the food was we told her. She went back to talk to her manager. And rather than offering to make our food again the server said all they could do was some how rewarm the current food Probably not a way to fix a crêpe. We had to take our food home put it in the oven for about 10 minutes for the crepe and 20 minutes for the potatoes and re-cook both which is not why I go to a restaurant to take the food home and prepare my own food. It's never about the food issue but it's always about the response of the management to any issue. Stacks gets an epic fail for this meal. Two of us had the garden crêpe and both of us had under done under cooked crêpes and undercooked potatoes the restaurant response was oh our crêpes are always al dente. I got the full stack of lumberjack pancakes and took home enough to have 2 more breakfasts. One thing I am not a fan of is 'pancake syrup,' a mixture of high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavorings. It makes me feel like my teeth are coated with nastiness and I avoid it. I paid the $1.80 for tiny pitcher of maple syrup, but at home I have a better way to deal with it. I love maple syrup but it is not the healthiest thing and it's pretty pricey. So at home I take a mango and blend it with some maple syrup, a touch or vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and some lemon juice. Our experience here was so bad I feel compelled to write my first Yelp review. We came here for my sister's birthday brunch because we'd heard such good things. While our waitress was wonderful, we had to wait over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. When we asked the manager for an update on the order, she had so much attitude and told us it had only been 12 minutes since we'd placed our order. She was so incredibly rude and condescending. I love this place for breakfast. My family doesn't have as much enthusiasm for it as me but they still enjoy it. Their pancakes are amazing. The wait can be very long if you go Saturday or Sunday mornings. It's best to put your name in and head down Campbell Avenue and check out some other shops. You can always jump over to Orchard Valley or Starbucks for some coffee while you wait. If you're there on Sunday and it's in season you can stroll through the Farmer's Market, although I bet the wait is extremely long. read more
