Our daughter was killed in a car accident on September 22, 2023. We were in Riverside dealing with this tragedy trying to settle her affairs these past 2+ weeks. Yesterday I walked into the Riverside Plaza store with the equipment for my daughter's account. The salesman at the counter asked me if I was an authorized user on her account, then asked if I had a death certificate. My answer to both was NO. It takes a very long time to get a death certificate in Riverside County and we were headed back home today after clearing out the last bits from her rental home. We wanted to drop off the equipment and had a myriad of other necessary stops before we headed up north. The guy at the counter told me that he could not take the equipment from me without a death certificate. After his obligatory condolences he offered up an alternative which would mean I had to find a UPS store to mail back the equipment, a task I did not have time nor energy to do. I asked if I would need a death certificate to mail it, he said NO. I then asked again if he would take the equipment since I was present in the store. Once again he said that he could not do an that without a death certificate but that I could mail it. As a grief stricken Mom with no energy left, I took my bag of stuff with me - back to my daughter's rental, where Spectrum can go to pick it up. Garter has been the best internet value for us. We use an internet TV with an antenna for local Channels. The past year plus the local channels are spotty so we are trying the Spectrum App with a Roku device. Was fantastic, picture quality and channel choices were similar to the Antenna but w/ on-demand. The bad is over the last month, the streaming service is unreliable. The picture freezes, poor quality and drops completely. Speaking with Spectrum Service was directed to contact Roku. Worst experience I've ever had with anyone in my life at this store location! Most of the employees were either undertrained or trying to up sell me on EVERYTHING! $90 for the service I wanted then multiple employees saying I needed to pay $50 for them to install it since it's been a few years at this house and that it "wouldn't work" unless they did it. They kept insisting! Then on top of that, $50 just to activate it... ($190.00) They kept asking managers, then asking each other questions, I felt like I had more experience then all the employees there... I couldn't take it anymore and walked out and called the company online. By the time I could get back to the store to pick up my equipment I was a few minutes late and they were just ignoring me until a customer came out. Everything was paid for on my end, I just needed to pick it up and they said their systems were offline without even looking at my direction. There were customers in the store still and two systems were being used. I know how computer systems work. I will never return to this location again because of that and it's disappointing because it's minutes away from my house, however it's way too UNPROFESSIONAL for me. Used them for years and love their service as well, disappointing to get treated like that for being a loyal customer! On a side note, I called the (online company) and it was $80 out the door and activated. Which they could of done at the store if they were properly trained! The (online company) also sent a guy to our house the very same day to check on our lines, free of charge, so I tipped the guy and he did an amazing job, he said everything looked great and was in good condition! He also told me that they were required to check the outside lines since residents aren't suppose to open those box's. Here's the $50 up sell from the store which they're "required" to do. The man I talked to on the phone when I first called the (online company) was extremely helpful as well, awesome guy btw and when I talked about how these employees were acting and also about the prices they both started laughing for how ridicules it was! All you do is plug into the wall, that's it. Wish I could leave a lower rating for this location, they have basically a one star rating and I definitely see why! Horrible service. We started getting charged more so we called and they said they would give us all these offers and adjust our plan. We say okay and then later I check my card statement and come to find out they even raised the price more than it initially was and added a service we didn't approve for. I go in to the office and they say they can't check anything until we receive the box. I get the box and it's still the same. So we call and say just give me wi-fi, I dont want anything else. Now they want us to go yet again to the office to turn in the box we did not need. I try to turn it in and they say it can't be turned in unless the person on the account is there. I tell them I don't want to access anything but just return it. They tell me now and that if I want I can go to UPS and they can just scan it despite who takes it. So why can UPS do that but not Spectrum who is the provider!!! So frustrating, so much back and forth. Went to exchange my modem and router since my service continually goes out even though re booting and replacing my Smart TV, not fixing the problem. Arrived to the store having about five people waiting and one clerk and one employee training that was helping people make their payment thru the kiosk. After waiting a while the wait was up to eleven people, One clerk to help all these customers and it was only 10:30am?! Ridiculous!!! And on top of only having one rep with eleven customers, the one rep decides it's a good idea to try and up-sell the customer she is helping (who decides, yes he wants to hear about the Spectrum phone service) and proceeds to spend another ten minutes discussing the benefits of their phone service, I definitely won't be interested in their phone service when I can't even get adequate internet service and forcing me to go into a store to get a new router and modem(since I wasn't sure what the problem was and decided to exchange both) long story even longer? Neither helped and as I write this I am on hold with technical support for wifi and surprise surprise, they are experiencing a longer hold time than normal. Switched TV, cable and home phone service from Att to Spectrum about a week ago and this might be one of the worse decisions I have ever made. Nothing but problems from day one. I have talked to probably 25 different people and everybody has different answers. The last issue I have had is I wanted to keep the same landline phone number that I had with Att and a DVR . It didn't happen and this time I emailed the Vice President of customer service for Spectrum Charter. I did get a call back from a gentleman and he set me up for appointment Wednesday July 10th between 9 and 10 am. To port my phone and to install DVR. I have been planning to go to Sacramento and pick up my daughter the same morning. The way things have gone, I decided to call Charter Spectrum one more time to make sure they were coming at that time. After being transferred 3 times (typical) I finally talked to a lady and she said nothing was scheduled. I am just furious and I have had it with Charter. My first experience with Spectrum. I went online to order internet service for my residence. Selected "self-installation" option. Received the package within a few days and set up equipment. Didn't work so called customer service they apologized said my home has never had Spectrum so needed to schedule a tech to come out. SMH...shouldn't there be a disclaimer some where letting you know this. So I wait a few more days now for the appointment. Appointment day, no one shows up! I call in and they said appointment was completed, but don't know why....smh again. Now have to reschedule another appointment to start my new service....wow, welcome to Spectrum. Well someone in my house down loaded an app on smart tv by accident and they went and charge me $49.99 for the tv service . And because app was down loaded . They put my service in a package without notifying me that it was charge and now I am paying $69.99 for internet only and can't go back to my previous payment at all ! Wow let me just start off by saying what a joke this company is. I signed up with a Spectrum Rep to have my blind aunt switch from at&t. So we schedule an appointment for Sunday the 11th. The guy shows up and has NO equipment and says that he can't install it because he doesn't have the correct boxes for our older TV's. This is something that should have been discussed prior to you coming out. So whatever, you said you'd come back on Tuesday for the installation. Mind you these are days that I'm requesting off so that I can help my BLIND aunt set up her shit. Tuesday comes and the timeframe that you said you'd arrive at, is way past. You guys actually didn't show up AT ALL. I made a call to customer service asking what the issue was and you couldn't even find my order or any time frame saying that when your rep would be at my house. Then you say you'll waive the activation fee for the inconvenience because you don't know when the rep will be out. How can you not know? Don't you all work for the same company and have some form of communication?? I've been in sales for a long time so I know damn well you do. And I know damn well you can spare a whole lot more than a waived activation fee. Now, if this was the last time I had an issue then I'd be fine with a waived activation fee, but it wasn't. Fast forward to Wednesday morning, the supervisor who I spoke to on the phone said you'd call my aunt by the end of the day Tuesday and you didn't. Wednesday afternoon we finally receive a call saying you'd be out here by Friday (barely one days notice). So Thursday rolls around and you call us last minute saying it's been changed to Thursday. I don't know what the hell you think people do for a living if you think we can just stay at home ALL WEEK waiting for your company to switch us from at&t to Spectrum. You guys show up Thursday and with what? With cable boxes but not the DVR boxes which were specifically requested as I said my aunt likes to RECORD on the DVR. So then you say you'll come back on Friday with the right equipment or my aunt can just go pick up the cable dvr boxes herself and set them up. MY BLIND AUNT. I would just like to also notate this is the second review I have ever written for any company because I am just so incredibly appalled by this whole experience. You told my BLIND aunt to set up the cable box HERSELF because your workers don't know what the hell they're doing. Obviously my aunt can't set it up so she has to schedule ANOTHER appointment which is something you should have done in the first place. So you guys showed up today and supposedly set it up while I was at work. But upon coming home I discovered that my aunt still didn't have working cable in her room. How is this possible when you have been to my house FIVE TIMES NOW. My aunt is absolutely furious with you and I can't believe that we're not even getting any sort of compensation for this inconvenience. You guys said you couldn't be out here until Tuesday so I looked at her cable box MYSELF and fixed it MYSELF. I have absolutely no background in cable/internet installation so can you explain to me why I was able to hook it up correctly after 5 minutes of looking at what your "experienced techs" hooked up??? Absolutely ridiculous and we will be cancelling this service and staying with at&t even if it means paying more because at least they don't waste our time and actually value their customers. This place is almost criminally poor. I've been a Charter customer for about a year and a half, though I previously lived in a home off-campus, where we also used Charter. Since I've had Charter, I've had maybe 10 days of usage where my internet is at least 2 Mbps, yet they advertise speeds of 60 Mbps. No amount of customer service calls have fixed the issue. I've even had someone from Charter come and charge me $40 for the visit, just to tell me that there's nothing he can do. I wish they offered Fios in my area. read more
