Wassup wid' da 2.5 overall rating on Yelp??? I'm gonna show some big LOVE to Spectrum, at the (Kamehameha Shopping Center) location, due to the outstanding service I got from Bruddah Buddy today! So my pops tells me that the new TV I bought for him was not working. Upon checking the TV, then the cable box, I realized that the TV was fine, and it was actually the cable box that we got from Spectrum which had crapped out! Normally, I would just head to the Ala Moana Shopping Center, as there's a Spectrum store at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, but this time, I thought I'd give it a shot to try a different Spectrum store, so I headed out to the Kamehameha Shopping Center instead. I'm so happy I made that decision, because not only did I receive excellent service here, there was absolutely NO WAIT at all! When I walked into the store, I was actually looking to pull a number, but as I looked around, one of the customer service clerk named - Buddy greeted me, & took care of exchanging my cable box. I was in the store less than 5 minutes, and upon getting a new cable box, Buddy also gave me this cool reusable Spectrum shopping bag. Mahalo, my Bruddah! I would say the place is slightly understaffed. They had 2 people working on opening on a Thursday morning and already had a line of 10 people waiting. The wait time, I was number 7 was about an hour. I signed up online for WiFi and then came here to pick up my modem. I didn't think it would be more than a few minutes, I was wrong. I started getting charged the day I signed up but they wouldn't have delivered the modem until 3 days later so I opted for in store pickup to get it quicker. They do have ample seating to wait. And you can see your name on a board so you know who's up next. I left to grab some food and came back and hadn't moved in the 20 minutes I was gone. So it is a bit slow. read more

Came in to upgrade 2 phones. I didn't get his name but we were helped by this gentleman & we told him that all we wanted to do was upgrade 2 phones. He tried to sell us free internet to lower our bill which i appreciated but my apartment doesn't use Spectrum. My friend is moving to Alaska & we asked if he could take the equipment with him & use it there. The worker said that he THINKS that would work. Because of that we decided to just respectfully pass & proceed with the upgrades. He then proceeds to tell us that my account is past due & that we won't be able to upgrade & then leaves the conversation & is gone for a good 5 minutes. I'm confused because my bill was absolutely not past due. He eventually comes back laughing with another store associate & i bring it up to his attention with my app pulled up clearly stating that my account is current he goes... oh my bad. Your account isn't past due then proceeds to tell me that the phones we want he doesn't have either in stock & advise that we call around & see who has them in stock. Took our business to Pearl City Spectrum & was in & out with 2 new phones. I don't know what the guys problem was but if you don't want to work find another job! read more

Charged me based on an old bill to double charge me. I paid in february, they didn't credit it, then billed it anyways. What a scam.

I'm not entirely sold on this location when it comes to speed. I stopped by this weekend to help my dad return old boxes and remotes, and what should have been a quick errand turned into a two-hour saga. Yes, two hours just for that. Weekdays might actually be the better time to visit. Even folks with set appointments were waiting a while, so clearly, the timing here is not ideal. That said, the customer service was fantastic and quick once I was finally helped. I don't remember the name of the guy who assisted me, but he was a hustler--working hard to move the line and even apologized for my poor phone experience with someone on the mainland. Five stars for him alone! I watched one lady hang around for 40 minutes just to get a remote... and she had an appointment! Not here to bash the team, but maybe their corporate office needs to know they're understaffed for the weekend? On the bright side, the air conditioning was great, but let's be honest--there are better ways to spend a couple of hours than sitting in a waiting area wishing for faster service. read more

Online appointment/ early check in. It seems like if an appointment was made and the customer is in early, the customer cannot be seen early or the name does not pop up in the "reservations customers waiting". If an appointment was made and the customer is early, priority should be given to the customer who made an appointment. When my name finally came up, 2 of the customers agents just left their stations. Looks like with a manager. Hmmm! If there are more people waiting, you think they should be served first. Very FRUSTRATING!!!!!This is another reason why I do not like coming to the Spectrum store. I should have just requested for a mailbox and mailed it in. Located in Kamehameha Shopping with lots of parking, eateries and stores, this is a convenient location and much less crowded than the Ala Moana store. The employees are far nicer and helpful, as well. It was a bit of a wait at first as the scheduled customers are taken before walk-ins. But there are various "toys" in the showroom to keep you busy and occupied. One of the reps was handling an elder woman; he was so patient with her and it appeared they had a lot to work on. I had the privilege of working with Kevin who was professional, courteous, and friendly. The equipment exchange process went well overall, but there were technical issues that the manager Erin had to assist us with. Manager Erin is quite the multitasker. She was assisting another customer and overheard the issues we were having. Erin was on hold with another customer and promptly came over to assist Kevin. Erin was able to expedite the equipment exchange. Her knowledge of the system and equipment was impressive. She was a smooth operator, effortlessly handling the situations with such calm. How can anyone get impatient or annoyed when you have Wonder Woman manager getting the job done. Kevin provided me with the appropriate equipment, along with new cords. The Spectrum bag is very sturdy and I am sure I will find more uses for this durable bag. When I got home, I tried to set the modem up, but didn't quite know how to initiate this so I called Spectrum's 24/7 customer service for additional help. Anthony was very patient and walked me through the set up process. It is obvious that Spectrum aims to satisfy their customers, from service to equipment. Very good experience for me. I was able to swap out my old equipment for new ones and I am a happy camper. I would go to Spectrum on School St again. The staff are excellent. read more

Payment machine finally works! Halleluyerrrr! Now I no longer have to wait for hours to be helped. Also I'm glad they got new people who works more efficiently! Last time I went in there, I noticed an employee (didn't get his name) but before helping anyone else In the lobby he asked everyone "Is anyone here making cash payments for bill" assuming he will be helping those first before helping the people with more complicated service issues. That helps improve on the customer service part tremendously. This happened first thing in the morning as they just opened up and payment machine still had to warm up before accepting cash payments. Yes, you need to check in and the wait can be long but what I saw was each rep provided their customer with all the time they needed and isn't that what we all want? Especially those of us who are older, we need patience and kindness and this is what Michael gave us when we went in yesterday. Our "village" takes care of my mom and there different parts to what we each do for her care. Not helpful at all, not knowledgeable or able to speak on possible ways for a long time customer to save. I did an equipment drop-off yesterday. For being a high-tech giant in the industry, they need to place emphasis on their check-in kiosk. At the kiosk, you are greeted by a large, simple to read screen. After numerous attempts to enter my reason for being ( there were two choices, equipment drop-off / exchange and services). I saw a guy standing near me . I told him that the screen wasn't doing anything. He commented that he had tried but couldn't sign in either. We allowed a third person to try. Boom,boom,boom, he was on the waiting list. The person whom I was speaking to tired. It was about two minutes, and he was on the waiting list. After a minute, I finally got on the waiting list. YES YES YES, thank you SPECTRUM for opening up a spot location @ Kamehameha Shopping Center. So perfect and near by. This Spectrum location took over the old spot for Payless shoe store @ Kamehameha Shopping Center. It's a good size store location. Not too big like thee ala moana shopping center location but it's up there in size. Went their about 1pm on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't BUSY at all (which is not common for spectrum) As soon as I walked in a staff member approached me and ask me are you here for paying your cable bill and I said yes and he helped me at the counter. FYI this location does have a PAYING MACHINE as well which is a plus for customers. As for COVID-19 still need to watch your physical distancing. This location was way less crowded than the Ala moana location. Came in to exchange cable box, put name on the list and was 8th in line. This was on a weekday around lunchtime Not sure why so many people complained that it was such a hard process. A lot of people must have left as they called 5 names of people that were not there. So I was actually 3rd, and waited about 10-15 minutes (Ala moana wait was over an hour). Spectrum rep was super friendly and the exchange process took less than 5 min, so 5 stars for that. Only gripe I have is that they should have a dedicated line for customers coming in to return / exchange devices as it should expedite the process during busy times. read more

Finally got Hawaiian Tel!! Was a loyal customer for 11 years at Spectrum, got nothing in return except for price hikes and arrogant service (because they were a monopoly in our area). Got the hard sell while trying to cancel, had to hang up while the Spectrum rep tried to convince me to stay. Hawaiian Tel was 25% cheaper, 100% faster and way more pleasant!! This location has very long wait times. They stand and talk with customers forever. There were 3 workers and one person only stood and watched the whole time. I really hope that persons was in training but it looked like a manager. Our wait time was over an hour and all we needed was to return equipment. We asked if we could mail it in and they said that we could not do that so we had to wait. At one point more than 13 people was waiting to be seen and they didn't move any faster or open up additional lines when there were clearly more people in the back. My Spectrum cable receiver recently went on the fritz one night. Used their chat feature with a technical representative. Once it was confirmed that the receiver needed to be replaced, the tech rep gave me the closest Spectrum store, which was in Ala Moana shopping center. Knowing how crowded Ala Moana was going to be during the Christmas shopping season, I asked for another close by Spectrum store. It took me several times to communicate this intent to the rep, which almost made me doubt technical support was based in Hawaii, but he finally understood and gave my the name of the Spectrum store in the Kalihi shopping center. Getting to Kalihi at 7:00 pm at night was a snap, taking less than 15 minutes. The Kalihi Spectrum store is located where Payless shoes used to be between Panda Express & CVS Longs Drugs. Checked in via the kiosk, found out you got a higher priority if you had a referral number from tech support, lesson learned. Had a little time, so I took care of an errand at Longs. Got back to the Spectrum store and my name was soon called. After I explained the situation, the store representative swapped my receiver for another one. Total time less than 15 minutes. I'm sure it would have taken longer just to find parking at Ala Moana! Excellent experience and I will be sure to use Spectrum Kalihi for any future needs. Repeat and recommend! read more

I tend to limit my review posting practices specifically to two situations: (1) When a business or employee treats me so poorly that I would give them a 0-star rating, if I could. OR (2) When a business or employee goes above and beyond or treats me with extraordinary kindness and deserves to be recognized for that. I am happy to report that today's review for the Spectrum store on School Street in Hawaii is a glowing review for a SUPERSTAR employee at this location named MARISSA. A little background first: I have always been very close to my mother but 20-years ago I moved from my home state of Arizona to California and then moved again in 2024 from California to Hawaii about the same time as my mother moved the opposite direction to Florida. These moves saw us essentially on opposite sides of the Earth and with a 6 hour time difference between. Throwing both of our work schedules in the mix, it has been hard to keep in touch with my mother and when we are able to catchup it's been unusually brief, so I've been missing her even more than usual. After living here for a few months, I met a woman named Julie, who is a relatively spunky 60-something woman of about my mother's age. As we became close, she eventually shared with me that one of the reasons she loved our friendship was because I reminded her of her son who had sadly passed away from a drug overdose 5-10 years ago in his mid-twenties and that she thinks about and misses him every single day. Over time, it became evident that we were helping eachother to fill voids in eachother's lives in a really sweet way, so when Christmas time came around I vowed to buy her the very first iPhone she has ever owned. This is the type of woman that gives of everything she has, from her money to her time and everything between, to the point that she struggles to survive in her own life because she would rather make sure everyone around her was taken care of first. When I told her that I would like to get her an iPhone for Christmas, she was blown away that somebody would be doing something like this for her and was super excited to get her very first Apple product. It took us several weeks to find a date/time that we could go to the Spectrum store together and when the day finally came it was nearly two months later and Christmas had come and gone... I'm sure she wondered if perhaps I may not follow through on my promise. However, of course I couldnt do that to her. When the day finally came, unfortunately I wasnt able to pick her up from her place until 7:35 PM and Spectrum closes at 8:00 PM, so we arrrived 5-10 minutes before they were scheduled to close and knew they wouldnt be thrilled about coming in so late. Having to do a complete swap from an Android to an iPhone, process the uprade/credit card/sim swap/transfer data to the new device in 5-10 minutes is impossible so I was quite worried that when we walked in we would encounter a grumpy employee that may simply refuse to perform the upgrade and tell us to come back another day with more time before closing. HOWEVER....... ..... When we walked into that store, there were two employees. A male and a female. They both looked at me at about the same moment; however, the look I got from the guy on the left was essentially "you've got to be kidding me, we close in like 5 minutes" while the superstar, MARISSA, gave me the complete opposite look. She lit up with a nice, beautiful smile, told us to sign in and said she would be with us in just a few minutes (she had a customer at the moment). She graciously performed the phone upgrade flawlessly and even transferred over the critical data like contacts and photos to the iPhone on my friend's behalf and even stayed nearly 45 minutes past closing time with not a single complaint or even the slightest bit of attitude. She was sweet, kind and gracious beginning to end. What a great example she would be as a store manager or assistant manager someday. Wow, why all the bad reviews? Went to the Kalihi Spectrum branch in Kam Shopping Center today at 12:45pm to take care of some business. Made an online appointment, and showed up early so had to wait about 10 minutes to sign in. The place wasn't busy at all but for a few reps helping some customers. As soon as I was able to sign in (now within the 30min sign-in window), a rep named Michael called us up to his counter. Long story short, Michael gave us excellent service. He was very helpful, considerate, cordial, professional and had a very local/relaxed attitude that made us feel comfortable. I told him we had several issues to take care of and he said... "That's why we're here". In the end, all issues were taken care of and we felt Michael did an excellent job assisting us. For that... a 5 star rating for the guys in Kalihi! By the way, although I didn't interface with the other reps, they all seemed on good friendly terms so I imagine they all would give great service. I was trying to switch to Hawaiian tel Com but gave Spectrum one last chance. They got my bill down from $341 to $266. I lost my HBO, Showtime, cable boxes, DVR capability but gained their XUMO cable system. FYI XUMO is horrible. The guide sucks the remote is really junk and it's linked to WiFi. My WiFi is also from Spectrum which is super spotty and very weak. So therefore my shows often glitches. Over all I'd say if u have the option please consider the competition. I am going to call Hawaiian tel to get my cable and wifi from here on out. read more

You could almost say it's a waste that she's there, but I'm glad she is. Everyone there seems to be asking her for guidance. She was training a new employee at one of my visits. Must be a manager. Never thought I would be saying this after all these decades, of Oceanic, TWC, Spectrum, GTE, Verizon, HawTel, but Spectrum is now the go to communications company in 2023. Went into Spectrum today, afraid after reading a lot of the reviews, but luckily I generate my own opinions. Zach helped me out, and prior to him helping me out, he was helping older men and women out who were clearly technically inclined. He was also helping a teenage kid out. While waiting, two women were complaining about the wait and the service....what I will say is that Spectrum only had two people working, but both Zach and the other lady were top notch in the way they handled the people they were handling. These two women sad "we've been waiting an hour" which wasn't the case because I had gotten there before them and only waited 30 minutes. Not only was Zach top notch, but Spectrum's support line took care of me too. Lot of you customers need to 1) treat people the way you want to be treated. 2) understand that the world doesn't revolve around you. 3) patients goes a long way. Pros and Cons below. PROS: Started new service and it was nice that Spectrum was able to schedule a technician for within 2 business days to start my home internet service. Internet works fine. CONS: 1) (Safety hazard) very disappointed that the technician pulled out and littered about 2 dozen rusty staples along the walkways outside my house (pic of a bunch of the staples attached). I noticed because one lodged into my slipper and poked my foot. Luckily no others and no kids were injured by any rusty staples. Have to leave this review because of the safety negligence. 2) My home also has existing cable throughout every room in the house which i woud like removed, but after mentioning this to the tech, i ended up telling him i'd do it myself. I guess its a gray area, the sales person at the beginning told me it was no prob, but the request wasnt met with a happy face by the actual tech lol. Somewhat dissapointed about this aspect of the visit. But, i would have ended up with tons more rusty staples, so i'm taking it as a blessing lol. read more
