1 Gig internet with the upload speed of a turtle
    Tammy H.

Spectrum as an entire company is an issue. It's not a single kiosk or a store..it's the entire business. It's alllllllll a scam. The workers are mostly filled with liars; people who have no sympathy for anyone so if you're ever held in a conversation with a spectrum employee...they're just trying to exploit you. They don't care about lowering your bill. I know people who are so confused about having an additional $20-$40 charge because they weren't fully or CLEARLY informed about it. Then spectrum has policies in place where they don't have to give the money they stole back because well "not in our policy". Seeing this business next to any other scammer business is pretty funny because the way they run their business...is insanely similar it's uncannily. I'm soooo disappointed in the fact that we can't have any other internet service because spectrum dominates where we live. They need to be replaced IMMEDIATELY. We have the gig internet and we always happily pay the bill. We're both heavy gamers that opt for the stronger speeds and yes we are lucky we can afford it. However, when we first started paying them the upgrade, we never got the speeds that were promised. For an entire 2 years, every two weeks we would get upload issues. They have sent soooo many technicians out to try and "fix the issue" every other month. Every single time... It works for an hour then it goes out again. Our upload speed would be completely demolished and all they say is "it's your fault" New wires, road constructions, new equipment, hundreds to thousands of reset and still: nothing nothing nothing. We were paying for 1 gig and got nothing. Except technicians that were at an absolute lost. Spectrum is filled with just liars. They give out these "once-in-a-lifetime bundle" but for what? For the worst service in the entire planet? For $120.00 worth of absolutely bullcrap with no way of reimbursing customers even thought it was Spectrum's fault? Bottom line: It's not even a debate. Spectrum doesn't belong in any debate. It's always going to be the company that isn't named Spectrum. Because at least, they won't lie to you and scam you.

Internet drops intermittently. Expect to spend 45 - 60 min being badgered when you try to cancel service too.

Great company if you don't need fast or reliable internet. Also good if you like wasting money and scammed.

Just wanted to drop in and share what a wonderful experience I had making the switch over to…read moreHawaiian Telcom. Honestly, I'd been with the Spectrum for many years. But when my internet bill went up to $100 a month. I'd had enough. So I stopped by the Hawaii Telcom kiosk in Windward Mall. I met and was helped by Regina Espinoza (she gave me her card to share) . She shared about their program that is only $40/month for high speed internet, the process is locked in for 5 years, this process includes the router AND the first 2 months are free. She didn't have to tell me much more. I was sold at $40/month! She was able to set me up for install the following Wednesday, we decided on a time, afternoon. And we were set to go. On Wednesday afternoon, Robby our installer called to confirm the appointment and to let us know about what time he'd be at our home. Then he called again while he was on his way. My home is in a warehouse, so during the work day, parking can get a little tight. So I called him and told him that I'd make sure that he had a place to park. I had him park in my stall, while I ran some errands. I came home when I knew the parking lot would be clear. And Robbie was leaving to go up the road to make some kind of connection he needed for my install. He came back after a short while. He was very pleasant and courteous. He helped me download the app that I needed to complete the set up, walked me through the app set up and even helped me put my router up, off the floor, so my internet service wouldn't be so spotty. Last of all he asked if I was keeping Spectrum, I told him no way. And asked him if he'd help me take the Spectrum hardware off. He took all the PCs wrapped all the cords and put them on the floor in an easy place for me to get to. I can't express what an excellent level of excellence I received. I'm a very happy new customer and grateful to be "locked in for the next 5 years! " Big Mahalos to Regina and Robbie, for being wonderful examples of Hawaiian Tel com's excellent customer service!

2026-07-05----Original Review: Shiesty company with gaps of…read moreinformation to cover shady sales tactics. If you want to hear a true-crime story, keep reading, if not, just skip to my synopsis in the last paragraph. A seemingly nice salesman walked around our neighborhood making all kinds of sales and speed claims and price claims, et cetera. He managed to wrangle my contact info out of my dear wife so that he could contact me and inform me of my options, and my very first call is an autodial saying that I'm signed up for a service installation at some date and time they decided to choose?!! Then, I start receiving spam emails about an upcoming service install. I call them up and the man on the line with a thick accent is asking me what the name on my account is and I'm trying to explain that I never even spoke with the sales person, much less agreed to any service, much less, created an account with them. I offer my name and nope! That's not it. We finally figure out that they snaked my wife's name and they've now made up an account with her name on it and now they want me to have her authorize me to speak on her behalf?!! So basically we're now in identity theft territory. I patiently but firmly ask to make a formal complaint against this salesman who conned my wife. But surprise, surprise, the system somehow does not list the name of the salesman. (But I guarantee the company would know who to credit with the "sale" if it somehow went through, otherwise, Mr. Salesman would not be visiting houses if he isn't getting paid.) I am told that they will look into it and "if they can figure it out", they will get back to me. After pressing the agent on the phone, he admits that they actually don't really have that info available to them in their system (so obviously, they would have never called me back). Synopsis: This company is basically a black hole of starless (pun fully intended) darkness: lying and identity-thieving salespeople, zero transparency on who sold or setup our "account". It's institutionalized theft. Run, do not walk from them and for the love of Pete, do NOT give anyone who represents them or claims to represent them your contact info- Take a card (if you MUST) and tell them, that WE will call YOU (if/when we lose our minds, forget completely about this Yelp review (and the thousand like it), and are looking to begin a long term, abusive relationship, against our favor). 2026-07-06----Response to Maria (or is it Jode?) from HawaiianTelcom. I don't have time to further detail anything that hasn't already been said. If, however, you can provide proof that your sales people have been retrained to NOT sign people up for service they never agreed to, AND show proof that Hawaiian Telcom has updated their systems to have some transparency by simply allowing their own "help" department visibility into who made the sale, then I will consider revisiting my review. But until then, this is my honest experience and a warning to my friends and neighbors to not give your info to these folks. The lack of accountability seems institutionalized and if so, it would indicate that the apple is rotten to the core.
