I came in around 12:00 PM with the simplest task imaginable: just to return a modem. That's it. No tech support, no complicated request -- just drop off, confirm, leave. But apparently even that is a journey. When I walked in, there was one lady slowly walking around the floor, occasionally telling people to "please wait"--almost like a hall monitor but with less urgency. Meanwhile, I watched two employees walk out from the back, tap around on their computers for a bit, and then... disappear right back into the back room. Not sure if they were on a side quest, but whatever it was, it wasn't helping customers. Then came the next highlight: a customer walked straight in, went up to the employee at the desk, and was told to "sign in, there's already 10 people in the queue." Ten. People. Waiting. While only two employees were actively helping anyone, and three casually hung out in the back like it was a break room. To add to the experience, one of the two employees was "talking story," chatting casually instead of helping anyone. Honestly, it would be great if staff were proficient, focused, and aware that customers are literally waiting right in front of them. Priorities! But here's what bothered me the most: About 60-40% of the customers were elderly, many just trying to pay a simple phone bill. I was sitting on a chair nearby, and I could hear the grandmas talking about how they don't have the time or energy to wait this long. You could genuinely feel their frustration, and honestly? I felt for them. For a lot of these kūpuna, this isn't just "an errand" -- it's taxing. And yet Spectrum continues to market themselves as: "The most reliable Internet you can count on. It's only everything." Everything... except customer service, efficiency, and basic compassion, it seems. How They Can Improve * Increase active staffing during busy hours -- not just bodies in the building, but staff actually helping customers. * Limit casual chatting during peak times. Talking story is great... just not while 10+ people are stuck waiting. * Create a streamlined line for simple tasks like equipment returns and bill payments. * Prioritize elderly customers with faster service options or dedicated assistance. * And most importantly: align the in-store experience with the reliability they keep advertising. Final Thoughts I walked in disappointed and walked out fully understanding why this location has the reputation it does. Hawaii customers -- especially our elderly -- deserve better. Spectrum can fix these issues, but only if they choose to actually show up for their own customers.

Not too bad. Staff are efficient and professional. However, you have know your devices. At least the basics. For us we just wanted to switch out our old modem and router as Spectrum recommended. But with anything else we all make mistakes. I think the very first staff gave us modem and router that were not compatible. So we kept switching out the router multiple times thinking it was just that. A technician came out too but no fix. The happy ending was that we got brand new compatible modem and router. Yay! Lesson: make sure your modem and routers are compatible. You should not mix and match!

Mixed Experience: Frustrating Wait & Rude Staff Redeemed by Eric's Exceptional Service…read moreReading the reviews for this location, customer service and wait times are common concerns, and unfortunately, we experienced the same issues. So why the 5-star review? It comes down to one exceptional employee. We stopped by on Monday afternoon around 4:45 PM to troubleshoot a phone connection issue. Despite being second in the queue, we waited about 25 minutes. When it was finally our turn, an older customer cut in line to speak to Clyde. Instead of directing her to wait, he spoke with her for several minutes, delaying us further. When Clyde finally addressed us, his tone was dismissive and frankly rude. He annoyed asked, "Did you call the Customer Service number 601?" When we said no, he declared, "Well, we are limited in what we can do in-store as they limit us... Call 601 and see if they can help you." He made no effort to even assess the issue. Clyde, if you lack the motivation to serve customers, perhaps a front-facing customer service role is not for you. We called 601 and spent over two frustrating hours on the phone with a representative trying, unsuccessfully, to resolve the connection. The Reason for the 5-Star Rating During this entire ordeal, another service representative, Eric, who was already busy with his own customers, genuinely cared enough to try and help us. He masterfully juggled his primary customer and our issue without compromising service to anyone. He performed diagnostics and briefly appeared to fix the problem, though it ultimately turned out to be an issue with the phone hardware itself, not the Spectrum eSIM. After spending over 2.5 exhausting hours there, we were incredibly frustrated with Clyde and another indifferent worker, Noel, but deeply impressed by Eric. If you ever need to visit Spectrum at Pearl Highlands, ask for Eric. He goes above and beyond to provide effective help and truly models the work ethic and customer-centric traits that Spectrum needs in all of its employees. Mahalo, Eric.

It's so frustrating! I've called customer service and constantly get transferred so each time I speak with a different agent, I'm retelling my problem over and over again. They eventually sent a technician to take a look, but he takes one look at my satellite dish and tells me that it's an old model and he can't perform any services without replacing the dish to a newer model first. But get this!! He could add the new dish to my roof but he can't remove my current dish!! What the hell am I suppose to do with 2 dishes?? Why would I want more holes drilled into my roof?? I asked him to leave because it's quite obvious he was wasting my time. I called customer service again to gripe and they said they'd send me a new receiver to see if that'd fix my problems, but that I'd have to handle the installation by myself and drop off my current receiver to FedEx. No apologies, no remorse, no understand, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had to argue to get some sort of credit on my account, and to make matters worse, they would offer me credit only if I signed on for another 2 year contract! WTF! I'm done. I'm switching. Don't fall for their BS. Learn from my mistake. They'd get "0" stars if I could.

My dad got Direct TV service without consulting me and at the end of it all, Direct TV has lived up to the nightmare stories I have heard. And as a current DirectTV customer, I will say the customer service is horrible. Happy to put the dish on there but when it comes time to take it off you will get the run around - literally. My dad spent hours between Texas and the Philippines trying to get the local office or provider. Never happened instead he was transferred back and forward. We are moving and Direct TV said they cannot take the dish off - the new rental person has to say they want don't want it and then they'll take it off. ???? We are paying for 2 months of no service to complete the contract even though the homeowner's association said dishes are not allowed. Direct TV's response was "we have a way around that." Really ???!? We don't have time for such nonsense. People really save yourself the heartache and money. Keep a sharp eye out for your Kupuna - don't let them get suckered. This company has no problem saying no to a grandpa for hours who was just asking for some local service.

However, when I requested my satellite dishes be relocated (from rooftop to ground) due to significant rust on the supports this was the beginning of the end of our customer loyalty. The two new in-ground posts were not secured properly (at the top) and the poles/dishes moved significantly with slight wind. Random cable placement along the side of the house looked ridiculous. Excess cable (approx 3-5') was loose and stuffed behind the pole-top dish mount and the satellite reception was never obtained - no TV for 5 days. The old, rusted satellite dishes were left on the rooftop - technician stated that I needed to call-in a separate work order to have them removed to which I replied "that was my original work request". I pleaded with the technician to remove the old dishes due to safety concerns - he relented and removed the dishes but left the rusted mounts and bolts on top of the roof. The first call to customer Svc / CS that same day ended with "we'll have a technician back there tomorrow". After a no-show the following day the second call to CS was further frustrating w the CS agent stating "we have no record of your previous call". The technician actions along w the CS drama led to a 'no choice' decision - cancellation of DISH service. As of this writing we're still awaiting our $200+ reimbursement- all receivers and equipment were mailed back in June and received (tracked). Unprofessional and unacceptable customer support and service. I gotta say it (DISH) was fun while it lasted.
