We had breakfast this morning at Spear Ridge in Florence. The restaurant is cute, with a horsey southern aesthetic. The servers were so friendly. They may have been a little overloaded but got everything right and made sure we were happy. They're running a deal right now where you get a free drink with a meal, so that was a nice bonus. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best we've ever had! The hot honey chicken biscuit was great and my youngest son was in love with the biscuits too. My oldest had the French toast and also loved it. The iced coffee is Carabello's and it was great (we got vanilla). The prices are fair and portions big. We will return for lunch! read more

Couldn't wait to try this cool new restaurant in Florence. Unfortunately the place is a BIG miss. Totally let us down. Came in a 9:15am this morning with my wife. Found out that it's basically a gas station type restaurant, where you have to order at the cashiers station. Was hoping to be served, but that's ok. Wanted eggs, but no eggs. And they serve breakfast - but no eggs? Ordered the biscuits and gravy for myself for $9.00. Biscuit came to us burnt and hard - see pic - probably made the biscuits early this morning. Couldn't even tear it apart with the plastic knife and fork. Gravy was good, but they only give you enough gravy for one (1) biscuit, not two (2). For $9.00? Wife a breakfast sandwich on toast which she said was just OK. Nothing special. Really wanted to like this place. We won't be back until the quality of food comes up a few levels. Ate lunch here with my kids a few weeks ago on a Saturday. My kids loved their chicken sandwich and grilled cheese. I had the country ham and pimento sandwich, but the combination of the ham and olives in the cheese spread was a little too tart for my taste, but there are several other items I would like to try. The restaurant itself was clean and very cute. Plenty of seating options and cozy barn themed aesthetic. The girls who took our order were friendly and the food was delivered quickly. The place looks fantastic but the food and coffee menu is very lacking. I'd like the owners to mature the menu further to add in vegetarian sandwich options, some sides and salads. There is only black coffee available. I'd suggest adding in a latte station serving espresso drinks. Like mentioned the place is beautiful, seating indoors and outdoors looks very promising and the chandelier is absolutely Instagram worthy. Not a place for health conscious people. Most of the side dishes are fried food. I ordered the catfish. It was mostly breading. The hush puppies were good and the onions ok. The best part was the nice lady at the door asking if I had ever eaten there. I had not. She took the time to explain the process thoroughly. I liked that part. It was our first time here, and the manager greeted us and asked if it was our first time and suggested we grab a seat look at the menu and then go up and order. I was disappointed in my food order on a recent visit. I ordered a Caesar salad. It was made with lettuce, not romaine. No parmesan cheese on it; and the dressing seemed to be a chunky blue cheese. The restaurant dining area and restrooms are spotless. The decor and building are nice. I liked that they did not even prompt for a tip when paying. The cashier was friendly. We ordered the pimento burger with tots and buffalo chicken sandwich with onion rings. The buffalo sandwich was delicious. The onion rings were a bit chewy and did not taste good. The pimento burger was a disappointment. This is not a traditional pimento cheese spread and was overpowered by green olives which my wife hates. Motivated to come here tonight because gas was $.30 less. And I could use my kroger $.10 extra off per gallon. Spontaneously tried the resturant and checked out the store. The smash burger is now my fav burger in town! Reminds me of steak & shake before the changed the recipe and added a lot of garlic. The inside of the restaurant was nice and the food was decent which is why I'm giving it 2 stars, because I should give it one star. One of my worst pet peeves about a restaurant is when they advertise one price and charge a higher price. As you can see in the picture of the menu, there is nothing ambiguous about what the price of a Jalapeno Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit should cost, but you can see what I was charged. I asked the cashier about it and I pointed to the price on the menu and she simply said, "sorry, that's just how it rings up". The service was amazing. They handled everything with order and precise. The food could be a little better. I got the Cubano and it was meh, it wasn't terrible and wasn't amazing. I tried a piece of the burger and I might order that if I go back again. The item I probably disliked the most was the pimento cheese. I read reviews and didn't believe it but it was exactly what they said. The pimento cheese was 90% pimento, the cheese was not flavorful and didn't have that creaminess that regular pimento has. Overall a decent experience but I will definitely stay away from the pimento though. read more

This is just my opinion after my 1st visit to Spear Ridge Restaurant. The location and parking are good and the restaurant is easy to find The interior and decor is extremely well done. What I didn't like was that they do not have servers. You get your menu and you have to go to a counter and order what you would like Then you are given a number for your table, drinks are all self serve. This restaurant is a glorified Wendy's. The hamburger s are good.The restaurant looks good inside but with no servers it is more like a fast food restaurant. If you are expecting to be served your dinner and not have to get up and down to get your silverware then your napkins and drinks along for paying a high price for your meal try out Spear Ridge. read more

Not what I expected. As mentioned by others, need some additional items to expand the menu. Entrees are expensive considering you have to pay extra for sides like fries (and sauces - see below) separately and that there is no wait staff to serve you. My sandwich seemed on the small side and I didn't get many tots considering I had to pay extra for them The thing that irritated me the most was having to pay extra for ranch. Our mozzarella stick appetizer came, I asked for ranch and was told that I needed to get back into the ordering line to order and pay for the ranch. WHAT?....while my food got cold? I don't care how "homemade" your sauces are that is ridiculous. Especially since you don't have a server who could just add it to the final bill and bring it to you. We went for the first time. Nice atmosphere, but did not like having to order at the counter. I got a flatbread that was cold in the middle like it was frozen ! Not good. My husband got catfish that was not done enough. We only had water and it was still like thirty dollars. Too expensive for what it was. I was really looking forward to trying this new spot and was disappointed. I do want to start by pointing out what went right. The staff was kind and friendly and the restaurant itself was clean and well decorated. The food was the downfall. First, this isn't a sit down and order restaurant which surprised me. You stand at the counter and order. We ordered breakfast for here and we were given a number card and our food was brought to us...entirely in take out containers. I'm not sure what the point is of offering "here or to go" when all of your food is ready for takeaway regardless. I ordered the French toast which was good along with a side of breakfast potatoes (no side of meat as I'm vegetarian). My meal was nothing to write home about especially for the price but it was edible. My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy and barely ate any of it due to how insanely dry the biscuits were. Not even drowning them in gravy could bring them back to life. Overall, the food is overpriced and not good. There's a lot of room for improvement here but the staff and cleanliness is a good start. read more
