Food was pretty good. I got the gold fever Mac and cheese with the chicken. It was good and it was super salty. My wife got the Yukon biscuit which was much better. Also got a mimosa flight. $18 seemed high for what it was. Overall the service was good, and the theme of the restaurant was cool. The dessert was tasty, the midnight train . Would not get the Mac and cheese again because of the saltiness.
Tried this place for the first time and was not disappointed. We split the Rhine Poutine, which I would recommend because it was huge! Seth, our waiter, was great. He was very informative and even showed us different dishes. I want to come back and try the chicken and waffles! This place is definitely worth going to. The biscuits were probably the best I've ever had.
My second time here and it's 10/10 The food is fabulous The biscuits unbelievable Our server Seth is so nice and even gave us a visual of some food Excellent service
My first time here! Worth the 20 minute wait time on Saturday morning for a table. Our server, Seth, was excellent. He was very helpful in explaining the dishes and helping us make our choices. His recommendations were absolutely 100% . I had the vegetarian sweet potato & kale& brussell sprouts dish with korean influences. So yummy & more than enough to take home. Ole boy had the chicken sandwich which was on a biscuit. I have to say the biscuits here are OUTSTANDING. No need for jams, but there are unique varities to choose from. The chef driven menu is noticeably prepared with , as they say, "confidence". Oh yeah, and don't pass on the drinks.......you'll be missing out!
Delicious!! This is a must go too when I visit my sister! The staff and restaurant itself is very nice and they are extremely attentive!! The food here is delicious! I highly recommend getting an order of biscuits!! It's comes with many jams and it very soft and nice! Drinks are great here as well!
I was in the area and had to come visit again (#2). This time was just as great as the last. Fantastic service! The entrees were hot, delicious, flavorful and yummy. Best biscuits I have tasted. I opted for the donuts - they were out of bread pudding , which means I have to go back to visit again so I can have bread pudding... I will definitely call ahead.
The food was really good! Loved getting the food served in metal tins and cast iron. The waiter explained where the concept came from which was interesting.
Incredible! First let me say I'm not from the area. This thing called Goetta? Why is it not served outside Cincinnati. I lived it! Great service and food was awesome. Biscuits were soft and tasty and great gravy too. Fried eggs were perfect. Have to stop here!
This place is a hidden gem in Kentucky. The food here is excellent and the service was amazing. Seth did a great job providing recommendations. I recommend the bread pudding. It changes based on the season but you won't be disappointed. The serving size is generous so bring your appetite.
So many stars, I don't know where to start. Saw this place on Yelp - gave it a try for my birthday, and was not disappointed. Three hungry dudes came in for brunch and we couldn't decide between Gold Shoes and Trail Pickins, so we got both (if you thought 7 biscuits between three of us was enough, think again). We especially liked the Creole and Goetta gravies. The Peppercorn one was just okay. The pickles in the Trail Pickins were fantastic - as were both jellies and butter. I kind of scoffed at the jelly/butter assortment (do people really get this?) - answer: Yes. And you should too! The entrees were also fantastic. I think the consensus among us was we would all get the Steak and Eggs if we came back. The Oregon Trail was a healthier option for sure - the shrimp and grits were great too - but man, that steak with chimichurri was fantastic! We also got a dessert, but that may have been one too many biscuits for us. It was a birthday splurge, but probably not again - just because we were so full from the appetizer biscuits and the generous portions in the entrees! Service was excellent. We sat outside - wait staff was attentive and make good recommendations for it being our first time. We definitely want to come back soon!
Just believe me when I tell you....go once, don't read and dissect the menu! Be adventurous and you will love EVERY bite! My husband and I both had their weekend special, Lamb Hash. The way the chef combines flavors is like a piece of art. Not just the presentation, but textures and flavor. The shredded lamb mixed with lamb sausage was incredible, but you add sweet potatoes, radishes, sliced jalapeños and top that with sunny side up eggs and tzatziki sauce......I'm NEVER speechless, but I can't think of an adjective that would do his dish justice!! His wedge salad dressing was the perfect thickness and there was no doubt it was house made!! We shared the salad, but having left overs is never a bad thing either! Now, for their Bloody Mary!! It's perfection, like I stated before. Devon was so attentive and saw my garnish was eaten quickly, so he came out with another garnish of havarti and cucumber! Customer service never disappoints here!! I truly thought the restaurant had been open a long time, because the vibe felt like a place you've been to for years. I've already made plans with my friend to come for her birthday!!
Stopped in for my favorite which is the Oregon Trail. My girlfriend got the waffle with shrimp and grits and she loved her food. The Oregon trail is gluten free and vegan without the chicken and full of vegetables! It's by far my favorite item on the menu. Not pictured is the buffalo soldier that my other friend had and he said it was bursting with flavor. We were all satisfied and had great service!

Love this place! Brunch is fantastic and the bar makes some of the best cocktails in NKY. I usually get the Rine poutine or the French dip. You won't be disappointed. read more

Everything was sooo good!! The food ,drinks and service was amazing . The mimosas are a must for the brunch vibe. If you order steak I highly suggest you ask for the Chimichurri and ask for the house hot sauce it went perfectly with my boyfriends french dip. Would 100% come again!!! read more

We really enjoyed the biscuit waffle. We'd never had that before. It was tender, crispy and buttery. The same could be said for the drop biscuits. The chicken and sawmill gravy were a bit too salty for our "low sodium" taste buds but we loved the espresso maple syrup that brought the whole dish together. Servers were super attentive to our needs. I liked the upbeat music and it wasn't too loud. What we wish the had: more cozy secluded booths. It was pretty open and loud. Also, they have no decaf coffee which I prefer. All in all we enjoyed our meal and will be back to try their other delicious-looking menu options. read more

We have been to Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey 2x now - it's a great local spot! On this trip we ordered: Rosewood Sandwich: tons of flavor - really happy I chose this sandwich! My only complaint was the fries - they were so salty I could barely eat them. I did share feedback with the manager and they confirmed something had went wrong in the kitchen & comped the sandwich as an apology. The Mother Load: chicken & biscuits.. you can't go wrong! Not pictured: biscuit donuts.. must have! love that the texture is crunchy on the outside, but soft & fluffy on the inside. **Really appreciate the manager hearing feedback on the food without insult & taking action to fix it immediately! The staff did such a great job during our visit and deserve recognition! read more

Ok this is officially my favorite place. Been a year since last going (time flies) and when we showed up, Nancy and her big smile greeted us. After talking she remembered us from last time we were there. As many people as they have come thru their doors, she actually remembers everyone. Food was awesome and we chatted with Nancy the whole time, as it was a slow day. Don't live close so it's a hike getting there, however need to suck it up and go more often. Very rarely do you get outstanding service and food in the same place. Big thanks to Nancy and her great crew. read more

I know it sounds a bit out there but we had a gravy flight and was not disappointed. The food is great, but the prices are on the high end for Lexington. read more
Pretty good stuff. I dig biscuits, but this drop-style version may not be what you're used to.... these aren't round fluffy biscuits, they're more like savory cookies and crispy around the exterior. Still plenty tasty! Accoutrements include blackberry jam, honey butter and house-made pickles. The chicken biscuit sandwiches seem to be a popular order. I went with a breakfast plate with eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy and a slab of goetta (a specialty sausage specific to this region and made with pin oats). A satisfying meal. There's also a full bar here, heavy on the whiskey, never letting guests forget they're in bourbon country. read more

At the bar on a sat morning! Great way to start the day. I have been here several times. Coffee is point and the mimosas are quite tasty. Laid back atmosphere will a friendly wait staff, the bartender today was on point with service. A very cool place for brunch! Check them out! read more
Lots of love for these biscuits and the very talented chef behind them!! We moved to the Florence-Union area earlier this year, and had the best surprise when we discovered a second location of Boomtown was just five minutes away from our home! Bummed that the original Pendleton location closed -- but we consider ourselves lucky that we can dine at the closer location to us anytime! We've tried just about everything on the menu at this point. My favorite is the Rhine Poutine -- it's arguably the best poutine in Greater Cincy! My fiancé's go-to is always the Yukon -- because you can never go wrong with fried chicken on a biscuit. We also always start with an order of Trail Pickins, and sometimes even take an order to-go because these biscuits are THAT good. We also adore the biscuit donuts -- what a fun dessert to an already delicious brunch. An honorable menu mention has to be the Oregon Trail. I order it as is (without chicken) and it's an absolutely delicious array of crispy veggies and memorable flavors. My dad is not a biscuit person ... but we brought him here when he was in town anyways to see if we could change his mind. And sure enough, while we were dining, he uttered the words, "These are the best biscuits I've ever had!" read more

First time going here, and they had a great selection on the menu. I had the Boomtown wedge salad and a side of mac and cheese. They were not at all stingy on either one of them. My husband got the mother load, aka chicken and waffles, as well as biscuits & Sawmill gravy with a side of eggs and bacon. Definitely worth every bite. Our server was awesome and helpful with our first-time menu questions. Definitely recommend the food. read more
Yuk. The food did not taste good at all. I had the Steak & Eggs. The steak had a funny taste and seemed to be the cheapest cut one could get. The eggs had a weird taste. The Brussels sprouts also had a weird taste. They were overcooked, too sweet, oily, and almost had the flavor of coffee in it. It's almost like the cook is not cleaning the grill and leaves the oil from whatever he cooks on it - chicken, beef, fish, whatever. The meal also left a metallic aftertaste in my mouth. read more

If you haven't been to Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey, here's your sign to make the trip. Amazing, amazing food. And this is coming from Louisianian's who know good food. Chef Jeffrey is from Baton Rouge, LA and crafted an amazing menu full of flavor that will make your taste buds soar. You absolutely can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The grits are something to write home about. The saddle is on a French toast biscuit with short ribs. Juicy and will be dreaming about it in the future. Go ahead and add this as a place to stop and eat brunch! It's drool worthy and we're already talking about stopping back by this afternoon for their bread pudding desert. read more

Holy cow, this was an amazing lunch. A CincySaver got us out to Boomtown Biscuits and Whiskey in Union but I can assure you that we will be back. My husband and I each ordered the Yukon, a fried chicken sandwich topped with sawmill gravy (sausage), smoked cheddar and bacon and served in between the most delicious biscuit I've ever tasted. The sandwich, which our server correctly described as a fork and knife sandwich, comes with either Yukon fries or smoked cheddar grits. First, the biscuit - it's perfect - crispy crunchy all along its outside and gorgeously fluffy on the inside. My husband had the fries and I had the grits, which were so lovely and cheesy and very satisfying on a day with a hint of fall in the air. I had the Folgers Cup cocktail, a very easy drinking coffee, bourbon and bourbon cream treat invented by the bartender who was also our attentive, excellent server, who knew a ton about the Gold Rush that inspires Boomtown's menu, decor, serving plates and more. My husband had the Gold Rush which features lemon juice, Rye and herbed honey which he found a bit too tart for his liking but I enjoyed. Our water came in a recycled bourbon bottle (nice touch) and our food arrived on aluminum miner's plates, completing a unique Gold Rush vibe. There was a steady turnover of customers who clearly know this is a spot worth coming to! read more

Let's start by saying, Cincinnati truly lost a gem. My first visit was when they were located downtown Cincinnati. I had been looking forward to returning when I made it back to Cincinnati only to find out they had moved to KY. They make the best biscuits I've ever had (Kitchen Social, second)... buttery, soft, crumbly interior with crisp edges. Chef's kiss. I've only had the Yukon. The fried chicken breast has a delicate seasoned batter and juicy all-white meat inside. Breasts can easily be overcooked but this was perfect. The potato wedges that accompanied served hot with a Cajun seasoning. Obviously, not a light meal by any means but delicious, nonetheless. I ordered an old fashioned and it was also good. Sadly, I don't frequent Union, KY often so wouldn't frequent as often as I'd like but maybe that's a good thing. Lol. read more
