Stopped in for breakfast this morning. First table we went to sit at we were told was ready to go but the table had not been wiped down so we moved to another one. The place is bright and friendly with what appeared to be many regular patrons. Our server was nice and helpful. I ordered an omelette with a hotcake and he got two eggs over easy with goetta. Our meal came with toast too. We ordered rye and whole wheat. Candidly, the food didn't have any flavor. The potatoes were the most bland. My veggie omelette had large sliced vegetables inside vs smaller pieces. The huge hotcake was thick and I'm guessing that's the difference between a hotcake and a pancake. It was good but not great. Glad we stopped by. Atmosphere very nice, service was great. We won't return due to the food. Just not good, no flavor. read more

Decent breakfast spot if you're in a pinch--whether for time or distance. We were really impressed with their goetta, and I loved that you can substitute it for other breakfast meats in most entrées. A couple notes I'd share with the restaurant: the entrée prices feel a bit high, and the gravy was unfortunately too thick and under-seasoned for our taste. I'd definitely give this place another try, but I wouldn't order the gravy again. They also missed one of our entrées, so my daughter didn't get her food until about 18 minutes after everyone else. The ambiance is cozy and no-frills, giving that classic local diner feel. The service was extremely friendly, and you can tell they have a solid base of regulars who enjoy eating here. read more

If you go to this restaurant bring a sweater. Every time I've been here it's been freezing. I ordered a double-decker, switched out chips for fries which cost me over five dollars to do and a Diet Coke. My meal ended up being $30. It had been a very long time since we were to this gem of a diner so it was high time we came back. We have raved about their burgers in the past and my wife got another great one on this occasion. I myself went in the breakfast direction with what they called "The Feast". It came with 2 eggs (over medium for me), home fries, toast, and a falf order of all breakfast meats (goetta, sausage patty, bacon, and smoked sausage.) The eggs and toast were fine as was the home fries. The meats were definitely the stars for me particularly the goetta and smoked sausage. It was definitely a filling and delicious breakfast. Used to eat here a lot when I lived about 2 blocks away, but it had been quite a while, so we thought we would try it again. Small town vibe here and a nice place to get breakfast or lunch. Wife had a cheeseburger and fries. I had heard a lot about their BLTs which is my favorite sandwich. It comes in two sizes, a regular double decker for 9 bucks and a large one with a full pound of bacon. I opted for the smaller one with a bowl of loaded potato soup and a salad. That was more than enough to fill me up and I still had to take half the sandwich home. It was perfect and one of the best BLTs I have had in years. Service by Vasoula was very friendly and attentive, even though she was really busy. They are also known for their double deckers. Prices are reasonable, the food is great and service is usually on point. That spells 5 stars to me. We hope to return soon. read more

Was this place gourmet? No. But it's everything it promises to be. Cheap and good. I had a special that was a BLT, fries, and a drink for $8.50. My husband got a double decker based on someone else's review and he loved it. Don't skip on the tater tots. They also serve breakfast all day which instantly endears me to any restaurant. Tried this place based on a recommendation from our local UPS store front desk guy in fort Thomas. He loves this place and now we can be added to that list. Friendly and fast service with large Portions and hot and flavorful food.... Well that's definitely a run on sentence.. waitress was friendly and gave recommendations- which I love - I got the breakfast platter and he got the Reuben sandwich. I added onions and cheese and peppers to my potatoes and when I requested well done, she told me that it's wasn't a problem.... Who doesn't LOvE a restaurant that will go the extra mile and they delivered as those potatoes were amazing!! As were the eggs... not loving eggs right now just the protein they provide but these were good enough that I ate them all. The French toast was what I was craving and it was good! I was on a trip and made an effort to try a new place every day. So this was day 2. It's in the middle of a large shopping plaza/office park. It doesn't look like much on the outside, and honestly, it's not spectacular on the inside. But what matters is the coffee and the food. Both were excellent, and it's definitely a place I'd tell others to check out. Of all the places I went to in the area, this is the only place I could not finish my food. I got the standard breakfast special, which was 2 eggs, home fries, sausage, and pancakes. I did my best to finish it, but I just didn't have it in me. The coffee was good and strong like I liked it. The only downside was that I only had 2 cups of coffee and would have had more if she had come around more often. In her defense, it was pretty busy, and it was just 1 other girl serving. From the looks of it, it's a local favorite. Get there early as it probably gets packed there. read more

I walked out of First Watch this morning after being ignored for literally 15 minutes, until I started talking to the next table. I arrived here ready to cry and starving. I was seated immediately, and had my order taken quickly. Everyone was so lovely. I couldn't finish the stack of pancakes the size of my face. The staff gave me advice for what to order next time (a smaller order and sub one pancake for the toast) so it fit my needs better. The food isn't fancy. This is a down home diner that makes classic American food. My only regret is that I forgot they had goetta! I've been here before, sometimes there is a bit of a wait because there's a line out the door. I'm really glad I got there when there wasn't a line. But they typically move pretty dang fast, even if there is a line. I'm so glad I came here when my other breakfast plans didn't work out. read more

I stopped by with a group of 6 of us total for lunch. The restaurant is very cozy and reminds you of a diner style from back in the day. We had an excellent waitress who was very kind and helpful. She made suggestions of her favorites which I always appreciate. We had two kids with us under the age of 6 and she was friendly and kind with them. The food was delicious! I ordered the Turkey club double decker which was one of the best double deckers I've ever had. They pile the turkey on high and crisp the bacon up really nicely. I was quite a fan of the tater tots as well as they were seasoned perfectly. Come expecting solid diner style food and you won't be disappointed. We had breakfast there today- first time in a long time- the biscuits were disgusting. I literally took a bite and spit it out into my napkin. The eggs were fine. The toast was burnt. The hashbrowns were fine. Nothing spectacular but fine. But the worst part of the entire experience was a loudmouth waitress, who embarrassed an older couple. The older couple apparently had forgot to order french fries with her hamburgers. When they got their hamburgers, they ask where the fries. They either didn't know that fries didn't come with it or they forgot to order them. Either way doesn't matter the waitress very loudly says well you didn't order french fries. If you had wanted french fries you should've ordered them. I'll get you some french fries but I can't read your mind if you want something. You have to order it. It really embarrassed the older couple and they sat there the rest of their meal, embarrassed, and not say a word. read more

My parents have enjoyed breakfasts here for years but when they brought me during a visit home... I was just really unimpressed. It's a very casual family diner in a small strip mall. We came early on a Sunday morning and had our pick of tables. It's clean and lacking in any charm - it's basic. Which can be fine if the food is good. This wasn't. My order of "eggs scrambled with cheese" resulted in a cheese omelet swimming in a pool of butter. The potatoes my mother recommended as a specialty were just fried under-seasoned potatoes. Nothing special about them at all. My father's eggs were swimming in a similar puddle of butter. Bacon was both overcooked and undercooked - truly an affront to bacon. None of us ate very much. My parents seem to think this was an "off day" and I certainly hope so. This place has been around forever and it can't have stayed open that long serving food like what we received. I sure hope this visit was an anomaly ... but my impression is that the Ft. Wright Family Restaurant has taken "greasy spoon" much too literally. Hard pass. read more

Food: basic and plain. Got a breakfast sandwich and home fries. Bread was soggy and the cheese wasn't melted. Home fries are just mushy potatoes cooked on a grill. No seasoning, onions, garlic, etc. they were gross. Service: our server was nice! We did wait quite a while for someone to come to our table but otherwise, can't complain. They charge 4% fee to use your card. I get very frustrated when customers are charged fees in addition to the cost of food and service. However, that's just a personal preference, this may not bother you. For these reasons, we won't be back. read more

Menu had all the usual breakfast suspects, but we both enjoy Biscuits and Gravy, so that's what we went for. The platter came with eggs and meat of choice, so Hubby ordered scrambled eggs and sausage patties, and I don't do eggs, so just got the large Biscuits and Gravy. 2 decent sized Biscuits and a bowl full of Gravy on the side. My husband's scrambled eggs were not the fluffy kind, but were flat and folded like an omelet. Sausage patties were small, very cooked, and dry. Gravy had bits of sausage, but mostly bland, sans flavor. Now, to be fair, we are not from around here, and what I'm finding is that no one really likes spice in the NKY, but even the Tabasco on the table was watered down, probably not to try to stretch a dollar, but more to tame the heat.
