I've been to the Log Cabin several times and my experiences have been spotty. The service is always very friendly but things like drink refills are slow. The food often comes out lukewarm (I was recently served room temperature mashed potatoes). Their fried chicken is absolutely top notch - it's why I keep coming back. I've also had great soup there and a good BLT. But the mashed potatoes are awful, the hot slaw is drowning in way too much vinegar, green beans are just OK. So the food is sort of a gamble, you need to just find what you like and stick with it. I'm sure the atmosphere is charming to some but it reminds my of my grandparents' 1970s finished basement and it's all just kind of dark and dingy. Still, I like giving my business to long time local restaurants and I'd recommend giving this place a try. read more

Not bad but not great. Probably a favorite with the locals. I tried the liver and onions. My husband had the frog legs. Sides were mashed potatoes and KY hot slaw. He liked the hot slaw. The fried green tomatoes were better than most I have had. The liver had a lot of gristle so not the best I have had but they are not an every restaurant cuisine. The frog legs needed more flavor. Physical plant was acceptable. Log cabin like without the cookie cutter kitsch so common with this sort of establishment. The waitress was pleasant enough, though inattentive and disengaged. The real sinker was the food, which of course important for a restaurant. I had a hankering for fried fish and was sorely disappointed when I was presented with two perfectly rectangular "filets" along with a batter that looked pre-applied and tasted worse, The regular slaw was Sam's Club quality and the Kentucky Slaw was soaked in undiluted vinegar with insufficiently crisped bacon. I had to hail the waitress like a cab on a rainy NYC night to get the fried shrimp that came with the fish and found it to be equally inferior. read more

sat down for an early dinner on sunday. greeted and sat almost immediately. service was quick and friendly. server recommendation was the blackened catfish and that's what i had i chose the green beans and french fries for my sides and it came out rather quickly. fresh, hot, and flavorful. i didn't think i was hungry when i sat down. but shortly after my first few bites i realized i had finished. fish was tender and seasoned perfectly. the fries were crunchy but lacked salt. the green beans were great although they had a bit too much juice, and the bacon if crispy would've been an excellent addition. overall everything was great and i would definitely come back. read more

This place is great. It's an old log cabin turned into a restaurant. The decor is great. The menu has a pretty good variety. I've been going here for years and am always so impressed with how busy they stay. Even when busy though, service has always been good for me. I've liked everything I've ever tried... except the frog legs. To be fair, it was the only time I'd ever tried frog legs and I don't think I'd like them anywhere. The friend I was with loved them though! It is awesome they have them on their menu. They have a lot of southern favorites like fried green tomatoes and Kentucky hot brown. Some of my top favorite things of theirs are their ribs, their buffalo chicken wrap, their onion rings, and any of their breakfast food. I also love their salads as they make their own croutons and they are fire! Their ranch is good too. If you are in the area, they are definitely worth trying. read more

We went to the Log Cabin on our way home from Big Bone Lick. We were hot and sweaty from hiking, it was over 90° that day and was hoping to cool down, but it was extremely hot in here. I am not sure if that is the norm. Our server forgot to bring the hot slaw that I asked for, but after thinking about it as hot as it was, it probably wouldn't have been the best thing for a hot person trying to cool down. To call this place rustic doesn't really do it justice. I went there for brunch and the place was PACKED. They don't do call ahead, but if you don't mind eating at the bar, as I did, seating and service was almost immediate. Everyone was very friendly, even amid them having a Pepsi machine breakdown. I decided on the lunch instead of breakfast. I ordered the turkey club double decker and onion rings. The food come out super fast, but given the number of people here, my expectations weren't really high. When the food came, it qas pretty awesome. Waitress was wonderful. She kept our drinks filled, took the time to check on us frequently, and was very friendly. The atmosphere is interesting. Its made to look like a cabin but also feels like a basement. I am not sure if I love it or hate it. The burger, fries, home fries, and potato slices were all really good. The KY hot slaw was good but drowning in a bowl too much apple cider vinegar. I like the ribs texture, crispy surface and moist inside. I did not particularly like the fish nor chicken tenders. Log Cabin has long been one of our favourite little restaurants over the years. It has underone some changes in that time but the great food and classic environment have remained in place. On this occasion we started with a sampler which had a good amount of their appetizers. Included were cheese logs, potato skins, and chicken tenders. The tenders were pretty good as were the cheese logs/sticks. My favourite of this group were the loaded skins which had cheese and bacon bits and of course sour cream for dipping. Really good. For my main course I tried the Open Face Roast Beef With Mashed Potatoes. It waa covered with a delicious brown gravy that brought the whole thing together and made it a really fantastic dish. They really piled the delicious roast beef on which was nice and their mashed potatoes were one of the better one's that I've had. Stopped for lunch and this place seemed to be out of the way in the sticks...I was wrong because when I pulled in the parking lot was packed, the restaurant was packed and I ended up sitting at the bar along with several other single serve patrons. I had the liver and onions which seems to be difficult to find. This was an outstanding offering. I would come here for this or several other items off the menu. I have a serious medical condition so I have a medical alert dog to help me. My alert dog does not always wear a vest because it's not legally required but they could not seem to understand that it's not legally required and also asked me for documentation to prove he's my medical alert dog which is all illegal. The most they can ask is if he's a service animal but they felt they are above the law and denied entry for us. A friend chose this place. I wasn't enthused because I'd been years ago and had no good impression. I ordered what they called a Ky Hot Brown with Turkey. I love a good Hot Brown. This wasn't that! Grocery store white bread with what I'd bet was some pre-packaged thin sliced Turkey slathered with a heavy, kind of greasy untasty gravy rather than the usual Bechemel or Mornay sauce. There were a few (2 or 3? slices of bacon on top along with two VERY thin slices of grilled tomato. Usually a hot brown is broiled a bit causing some browning (the clue is in the name). Not so here. The bacon & tomato slices had been cooked but there was absolutely no color on the pasty, thick gravy. Had it not been my friend's choice, I'd have sent it back. Furthermore, while I won't list everything, there were signs that cleaning isn't a big concern there. For example: the door to the patio was filthy dirty except for the side near the handle & lock where a small area had obviously been clean since you could see there that the door was white rather than the color of greasy dirt. I tipped the waitress well (over 20%) and she never said thank you. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

Tried this place while on a date with hubby, and spent $50 for 2 meals, drinks, and an appetizer. Will not be back!! Although the cabin was very cool the atmosphere was a calm place and a lot of older folks, the food was horrible and very greasy but, our waitress was nice and helpful. Five of us ate at the Log Cabin Inn Tuesday, November 14th. I ordered the half slab of ribs and they were very good. I got a baked potato and hot slaw, which were also very good. One diner ordered the steak sandwich. The steak was very tough. She had to take it off of the bread to try to eat it, but still had trouble chewing it. Another diner ordered the hot brown, which was cold. The waitress took it to be microwaved and then it was hot. The other two diners were happy with their meals. On a beautiful, sunny day, it felt as though we were eating in someone's dingy basement, and the waitstaff did not seem happy to be there. The most jovial of the bunch had just gotten a call that her son was acting up in school, and she was appalled that they would bother her with such information. The food was fine, my husband got a burger and fires, which he enjoyed, and I got a Buffalo chicken wrap and onion rings, which were also good. The water smelled and tasted a bit like chlorine, which could be easily remedied with a filter, or offering bottled water. FYI, This place was hard to find. Google Maps tried to navigate us down a road that is now closed. If this happens to you and the restaurant is on your right, go down to the next light, turn right and follow the signs. The liver and onions are, by far, my favorite thing on the menu, but I can vouch for the ribs and the fried cod fillets too. The fried mushrooms are the best I've ever had, and the fried green tomatoes are great as well. I'm not sure what batter they use for their fried items, but it's really crispy, and not greasy at all. Been here 4 times. Twice, servers were clearly having a bad day, openly complaining about co-workers. Most recent time, kitchen was obviously short staffed as it took 45 minutes to get breakfast for two after a 20 minute wait to be seated.
