I've been planning to stop here for a while and I'm glad I did! My turkey sandwich was excellent and my chicken noodle soup was very tasty. It didn't have carrots which seemed weird, but it was still very yummy! In addition to the fold, though, the service was excellent (I was even offered a sample of chicken salad, which they are known for!). The vibes were great - it's a small, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated restaurant. I can't wait to go back! read more

Wish I trusted my instincts and didn't go here but only out $24 and now know better for next time. Still on the hunt for a good sandwich deli in KY. Seems like they can't figure it out. Would rather cross the river and go to Carl's deli for $5 more. read more

Extensive menu selections; nice employees; great location. This has become my go to deli.

BLT was excellent, also ordered potato salad (ok). Service was engaging and quick. All sandwiches were made to order. Cute little deli. Glad we found it. read more

Stopped for lunch. Even though there are at least two other chain sandwich locations almost next door, they were consistently busy while I ate my lunch. Many to-go orders from casually dressed people so I don't believe the are business offices near by. They said their Ruben and Chicken Salad sandwich were the top sellers. I had the #2 which came with a full sandwich, 6oz bowl of a soup, bag of branded chips, and a fountain drink. I had a cold pastrami on rye with brown mustard and Swiss. It was just OK. This came with a bag of lays and a few pickle slices. My cherry coke tasted calibrated correctly. The standout was my bean soup! Fantastic! The #2 with tax was just over $14. My only recommendation is switch to pickle spears if your a deli 3 star deli but an extra star for the soup! read more

I had originally been in the area to grab Jimmy Johns, but that location had closed. I decided to go into the Sandwich Block Deli and am so glad that I did! I shared that this was my first time stopping in and the lady behind the counter was so nice. She walked through the menu and let me sample 2 types of chicken salad - both were great. My husband and I got a Reuban, Club, bean soup, 2 deviled eggs and all were delicious. We will absolutely be back. read more

Just about everything you could want from a soup and sandwich (and more) shop!! You order at the counter and then seat yourself and our service was fast, friendly and helpful. They take your trays/garbage up for you when you are done. I had a half turkey sandwich with bean soup, chips and a drink. I got my bread toasted so my sandwich was nice and warm and my soup was hearty. Great spot to grab lunch! Everyone in our group of 6 liked their food and was happy we came! read more

stumbled on this restaurant. Nice people and good fresh food. Definitely coming back.

This was the first time we stopped there. The service was excellent and it was obvious that they knew their return customers. Even though the weather was bad, plenty of people were eating at tables and getting takeout. The Reuben was to die for! One of the best I have had in years. We'll definitely be going back. read more

Excellent food, I loved my egg salad wrap! Service was a tad slow at checkout but we will definitely be back. Very clean!

I was drop a package off at The UPS Store and the employee their recommended Block Deli! I love supporting family owned businesses and this one is awesome!! I ordered the Jalapeño Chicken Salad, house made potato salad and a snickerdoodle! The chicken salad had a nice kick and the potato salad tasted like my mom and was a large portion! On top of the perfect lunch they also have great customer service!! Next time I'm in the area I'll be sure to come back! read more

I love this place! My partner and I love their chicken salad sandwiches, but they have tons of other sandwiches and wraps to offer as well. They have 5 different types of chicken salad. We've had the original, the sweet Jamaican, and the Cajun one. All of them are so good and anytime we think of wanting chicken salad we will always come here. I definitely recommend stopping by and giving this place a try! read more

Love their chicken salad!!! Wonderful service! And a great price for homemade food. The dining area was clean and welcoming.

I absolutely love their pasta salad and chicken salad. They've switched locations 3 times since being in the crescent springs area so make sure you go to the right location. Their hours are shorter than most so double check those too before you leave ! They have outdoor seating and an entire patio during the warmer months. They cater too! There's been a few times I've been really craving their pasta salad and they were closing within 5 mins and stayed open just for me to come and pick up the pasta salad. A real local gem. read more

real reviews get deleted. no response on anything other than a positive review. My experience yesterday was less than I expected. I came in yesterday after a few of my friends ordered from the day before. As I always do I volunteer to run for lunch for everyone. My entire time spent from the walk in the door til I got back in my car was 57 mins. I've spent 37 years of my life working in the restaurant business and I have witnessed a lot of chaos but I remember now why I don't go out much anymore. The ladies were very friendly that I will say. The view from the other side of the counter is mind boggling. 1 lady started my sandwich and then 1/4 of the way through went to the back. The other ladies were swapping out areas like they were square dancing. No task that got started was completed by the person who started it. At 1 point 3 people touched the same sandwich. Gloves are fine but burger to club is cooked food to cold food and gloves don't discriminate. The girl that wandered off into the back must have not noticed that she was needed because they kept telling her to forget that and get out there. She also touched my sandwich on her return. It would seem to me that if each one had a set station to concentrate on that it wouldn't look like a Laurel and Hardy show from the customers perspective. The people on both sides of me where also somewhat indifferent about what was going on. I picked up a menu off the counter on the way in the door to have to take back to make it easier for them to order next time and that was convenient however when I got to the register to pay my $37 order was $54 because the menu that I had reflected the old prices. My $7.99 burger was actually $9.99 and so were all the other sandwiches I ordered. It is not okay to display old menu prices and then blindside someone at the register with the real prices. All of your staff kept saying "we'll that's the old prices". So what. If you don't update the menu then why should I find out during the payment process. Pull the menus and make it easier for the people in line looking at the paper menu to be on board with the changes. You have a wonderful little gem here in this plaza but make the necessary changes so first timers like me don't spend their morning steaming over the residual experience. I wanted to post this on google first but my husband is a sensible man and ask me to reach out. P.S. please respond. Terry read more

Wow, amazing chicken salad and the friendliest service I've had in a long time! I highly recommend this little hidden deli!

I ordered chili to go. They had to microwave it and it's still cold. Not only that but it has a layer of grease floating on top and it looks like dog food. I have never paid so much for such vile "food" in my life. I wish I'd gone to Remke's deli instead. read more

Food is great, service was friendly. Atmosphere was good.Bean Soup was greatDouble Decker Sandwich are the best!

if there was a zero star rating, that's what this place would get! this was my very first time ever trying this place. I was told that there was decent food but after what I have seen I'm not so sure. I completely am appalled at what I have seen. Employees are wearing gloves as they're supposed to but then they're also wiping their faces and noses with gloves on. I can only imagine what else is going on there. I personally along with my employees, and staff will never eat at this location ever again! read more

Great hidden gem. We stumbled onto this on our way from Cincinnati to Lexington. Very clean, very friendly staff, you can tell they not only enjoy working here, they enjoy working with each other. We had the chicken salad and sampled the Jamaican chicken salad- out of this world! The bean soup is awesome. We will be stopping here any time we come through the area. read more

The food is fresh and delicious and the place is clean. Staff is awesome - friendly and knowledgeable, so welcoming. Try the Jerk Chicken Salad. It's to die for! Bean soup was delicious. We'll be back soon! Thanks! read more

I recently switched offices from downtown to buttermilk pike and had been searching for a deli since I missed downtown deli food so much. I found this little place and I had the Jamaican chick salad sandwich. It was just ok, like I'm not hungry anymore ok. The sandwich was small for what I'm used to getting for the price. The chicken salad was not flavorful at all, I even took some off the sandwich to see if I'd get any other flavors than mayonnaise and chicken but didn't. I wouldn't order this again. Seriously disappointed by the lack of any Jamaican flavor in this. read more

Atmosphere is great, food is decent, help is not very good yet. Messed up my order, criticized my choice of food, over charged me for my combo. Somebody put some money into this place and with help like this they certainly aren't getting it back. Help is yelling about things not working while im typing this out. They need to work on people skills and get some experience and this place could be a good joint. As is, I say stay far far away The older ladies care! I like them, younger girl just breaths negativity (might be an owners daughter or something from the way she talks). read more

SWEET JAMAICAN CHICKEN SALAD...just order it!! Once again "sweet"...so this is not going to be a traditional Jamaican spiced sandwich like you're used to. There's a reason why this little deli, who has the same staff since I started going in 2003, has been voted Best of Nky multiple times! They used to be called Sandwich Block but now they are The Block Deli. Just order the sweet Jamaican chicken salad and you won't be disappointed!! read more

Came late in afternoon on a Saturday and ordered a gyro and some bean soup. Both were delicious! The restaurant was clean and the employees were so nice and friendly. Again, I can't say enough about how delicious the bean soup was! OMG you gotta try it the soup! The ingredients were fresh and tasty. I'll be back for certain! read more

Consistently good. This is not gourmet food...it's soups and sandwiches. The soups are always very good. I get the double decker sandwich ...it's huge. Enough for two meals. The place is clean, the menu huge, nice ladies behind the counter with fair prices. A great local place to grab lunch and go. read more

We order from here all the time at work. The Jamaican Chicken Salad is the only thing I order. I love it! I've heard the Turkey Club is great. My husband had the Crab Salad Sandwich, which he liked a lot. Try it out. You won't regret it. The prices are comparable to any other sandwich shop. read more

Great place to grab lunch. The staff is pretty regular and always friendly. Both varieties of chicken salad are delicious, in fact they're so good that I've never made it past those to try something else! Lots to choose from as well, if you have picky eaters among you. The hours are a little funny if you're considering them for dinner, last I checked they close at 6. They also have a nice sized outdoor dining area, something I love in the warmer months! read more

They are fantastic! I order from here about once a week and the food is great and so is the customer service!

The employees were very friendly and helpful, and their sandwiches are AMAZING. I would recommend their Jamaican chicken salad, but any of their sandwiches are impressive. Almost everything is homemade, and everything is made fresh. The price is very reasonable, especially for everything you get with their lunch combos. I plan on going there a lot more now. read more

Great deli. People are super nice and friendly and their sandwiches are fantastic! Got there 15 minutes before they opened,. They let me In anyway and got my sandwiches together even though they were still trying to get ready for the day. They even apologized for not being open when i got there. I will be back for sure. read more

Not a good choice for breakfast. I decided to try this place thinking I could get a fresh egg sandwich to start the day. Instead, my sandwich was made with one of those pre-made (frozen?) egg rounds that was microwaved while the ham and cheese were being heated in a second microwave. For a four dollar sandwich, I can get the same quality at any of the neighboring fast food joints for half the price. read more
