Great local restaurant for home style breakfast, highly recommend! Pancakes are huge. We go again and again

Food was pretty good. Service was a little slow but not bad. The floor was dirty and although the servers were wearing masks (at times the nose wasn't covered) the cooks were not. The cooks also had beards which also were not covered. It is a small restaurant but they did a pretty good job with social distancing, hence the slow to be seated dilemma. I feel more could be done to clean the place up and to protect the patrons. read more

It's your stereotypical hometown brunch spot. My food was so good for how simple it was. I will let you know that some days could include a wait, but it's nothing terrible. You could tell every worker there took their job seriously. You also get very generous servings, so a meal last more than that. read more

First off, this place does need to close. I've never in my life had to spend so much on lunch meat in my life. I understand today's economy. Things are going up. But it's a go. Order is not the same as dining in. And the prices reflect that. It's obvious the servers are all new and or don't know how to do their job by putting things together. When you ask for the most basics and or simplest of things. The sandwich that I ordered was half the size of what is served inside the restaurant. Plus I did not get my sides. I asked for ranch I got ketchup. Responsibility and taking ownership, for what individuals do, has gone completely out the window at this place. I'm not happy with it at all anymore. Overcharging for a tomato, $2.50 for I was told for four slices, actually ended up only being two. This down home, local restaurant serves decent food, and plenty of it in a quick diner setting.. We had a group of 11 that came in at 9:35am on a Saturday morning. There was no messing around as they got right over and took our order. Within 10 minutes 2 servers came out quickly with the food. When I called about it, she said it was because I ordered extra cheese and lettuce and tomato!!! It was a surprise gift for someone's birthday, or I would have taken it back! Once again, Yelpers got it right on the bullseye for the ratings! I was craving for homemade breakfast food on the way to Louisville and this spot came up. I love that this place was in a secluded part of the city. After a long road trip the location sets a relaxing tone. Things got better as I walked in, the working crew was very welcoming and provided great service the whole time. Now the menu... incredible options! So much food and so cheap! We ventured to Ft. Wright Family Restaurant in search of the next great diner. I was a little disappointed this wasn't a crusty old school diner, mostly because those are my fav. But rather one with plastic tables and chairs, the price is right playing on a tv from the 90's and a breakfast bar. Indeed, a diner. As soon as we entered we could tell that this place was a family run place. There were a ton of old timers and regulars alike. The staff was extremely smiley and our coffees were always filled to the brim. The first thing we noticed was the breakfast special: 2 eggs, meat, home fries toast and coffee for only $4.99. What a steal! We were craving omelets so we opted out. We both got the Western and one side of biscuits and gravy to share. The omelets were good, although one of the greasiest I have ever had. An instant stomach ache, but the bf said it was worth it. I stopped half way through and devoured the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was home made. Nice and peppery just the way I like it, with big chunks of sausage in it. The prices were on par or maybe a little above other diners in the arear at around $8 bucks for an omelet. I think our total was around $26 bucks including drinks and the side of biscuits and gravy. Overall a great family run breakfast joint to hit up if you are in the area. read more

We lived around the corner from this spot for over a year without trying. One dreary Saturday morning while recovering from overdoing it on the cocktails we decided to dive right in. Ft. Wright Family Restaurant is exactly what you expect. A small, local joint with classic greasy spoon breakfast food and waitresses that you call you darlin. The home fries are awesome. Actual potatoes sauteed with butter and onions - just like my mom makes and best when drenched in ketchup. I typically get their omelettes - with my favorite being the ham and cheese. If you love cheese - this is the guy for you. I, personally after imbibing in too many stiff cocktails, like egg with my cheese so the way they do it here is just right. I give it 3 stars in a loving way. Mostly because I prefer takeout over dine in here, the options are pretty basic, and while it's good it doesn't blow you away. That being said, Ft. First time I went here I picked up sandwiches to go from this small family-style restaurant recently so I could enjoy an outdoor lunch at DeVou Park. I have to say, the double-decker turkey sandwich was so huge that I made nearly three meals out of it and a bag of chips. The place also offers plate lunches, burgers and other lunch and dinner fare. Haven't tried them, but the homemade pies are supposed to be excellent! It's located in a small strip center off the Kyles Lane exit off I-75. The prices are reasonable and parking is easy to find in the lot in front of the restaurant. On my initial visit, I noticed the smoking inside, but found out recently that there is a room to the left that is non-smoking. This time I had a roast beef with swiss, chips and iced tea. I've been finding something yummy to eat here for about the last 7 years. The atmosphere is somewhat a Greek themed greasy spoon if that makes any sense. (Waffle House meets "My Big Fat Greek Wedding") Prices are very reasonable for the food portions you receive. Although they have specials every day, and a not so shabby menu lineup I find myself ordering breakfast here more than anything regardless of the time of day. However, if you're looking for a monster of a double-decker sandwich I encourage you to look no further. These things have at least a pound or more of meat and other ingredients piled onto them. Most of the folks that work here have been around for quite some time and this always seems like a nice family establishment. I don't get on Yelp very often to write reviews (I hate typing on my phone) but my recent visit to this resturant makes it well worth the trouble. I actually heard about it from a former employee, who gave it glowing reviews. So I decided to check it out. Indeed his praise was understated. It is rare that I have been so pleasantly surprised by a resturant experience. First, this resturant is quite off the beaten path. Second, don't be looking for atmosphere. The experience is very much like eating in Grandma's kitchen. Very clean, very plain. But oh the food is SO GOOD!!!! I had the fish dinner. I was served two huge planks of fish, perfectly breded and fried, and the most wonderful french fries in the world. My wife got the 5 way Chili, and it is MUCH better than any of the chains. And it is CHEAP. I got a very filling meal for $9.00. I couldn't do that well at a burger joint. There are many many items on the menu. It will take me months of weekly visits to finally sample even a fraction of what is available. Other patrons had burgers, and they looked wonderful. I might even violate my "no cow" policy to eat one. I understand that the food is prepared on premises. Cole Slaw is chopped daily, the burgers are purchased fresh, etc. One bit of advice to the owners; the space felt "dark". Jacking up the lighting would be a very inexpensive way to improve the atmosphere. So, in conclusion, If you want to eat at a luxuriously appointed resturant, go elsewhere. But if you want wonderful foood at a bargain price, go here. You will not be disappointed. read more
