I stumbled across this local diner and had breakfast. It was absolutely fantastic. It's an old fashioned local diner with a great atmosphere. When I arrived, I was quickly greeted and seated. The server was very attentive and my food was delivered quickly. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of my meal, but let's just say it was perfect. I ordered Grammas Special. Eggs were done perfectly. Potatoes were excellent and the biscuits & gravy were delicious. If you are ever in the area and looking for a delicious old-fashioned breakfast--this place is a must! Also, as I started to write this, I remembered that management reached out to me after our last visit and had I remembered last night, I would've asked if he was available, I'm sure he will see this review Food was great as always but the service was awful. After waiting for over 15 minutes to get asked if we wanted water, I had to get up from the table and physically go to the hostess stand to ask her who our server was ... we were given waters and our server finally showed up with an apology, but service did not improve throughout the dinner. Our friend had to get up as well and ask for any other drink after waiting several minutes with an empty glass. I asked for a dessert menu, she brought it, but then didn't return for at least another 10 minutes. Luckily, Dreamys Ice Cream is right around the corner and there we went, along with at least two other tables whose faces I recognized from the restaurant. The food was really good! My husband ordered the fish and chips. Three large pieces of fish with a crispy, delicious batter. My burger was ok, but mom's was amazing- thick and juicy. Not sure why the difference because I did not look at the menu to see if they were different sizes to begin with, but she raved about it. Dad had a fantastic fish sandwich on beautiful thick rye/pumperknickel bread. I had sweet potato fries and the maple bourbon cream sauce was absolutely delicious! My sister and I enjoyed a lovely breakfast on the Washington Square Cafe patio today. It was a delightful experience; the place was jam packed with locals. We were immediately seated and both ordered the Gramma's breakfast. Two eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy and home fries. The potatoes were especially delicious, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Sausage gravy was very tasty and filling. Couldn't have asked for a better start to the morning. read more

What a fun spot to get bloody Marys and breakfast on a Saturday morning. So glad we stopped by. Got to sit outside and enjoy he beautiful spring weather on Mother's Day weekend. It was a rainy morning, I have to say that because of the rain the sidewalk showed the dips on the trail in. With it raining you try to get in quickly, well they have a parking spot right before the entrance. It doesn't help having a vehicle parked right there. You have to walk into the street. Good food but limited dinner options. Meatloaf and Burgers mainly. It was great service and the food tastes good however the Chicken Fettuccini tasted more like canned Alfedo Sauce. Lots of food. I'd suggest the burgers or meatloaf over the fettuccini. Soft Drinks are the basic Coke products, no Mellow Yellow, or Mr. Pib but they did make me a cherry coke. There is an extra charge to use a credit card that I was unaware of until the bill came. They have the little machine to pay with and the tip % starts at 18%. This is not a top tier restaurant, more like what the name implies, a cafe. I messed up trying to adjust the tip amount. I like to tip what I feel it was worth, not told what to tip. To me 18% is too much unless it is top tier. I don't know why the % keeps going up since prices keep going up, therefore the tip amount goes up too. It used to be 10%, then they said the cost of living went up, but so did the meal costs. 10% of a $15 meal is $1.50 and 10% of a $20 meal is $2. So as the meal price goes up so does the tip amount. It's getting ridiculous to keep asking more % for tips as the cost of meals is expensive, especially when you have a larger party. read more

What an adorable neighborhood spot, nestled in Historic Burlington! If you're looking at those Yelp stars wondering if you should give this place a chance ... you DEFINITELY should. I believe they changed management within the last year - and our first experience here was so memorable, we'll probably be back next weekend! Street parking is free and easy to find. You enter right into the patio seating area, and even though it was almost completely full, they found us a table right away. That makes a big difference when it comes to brunch ... because that's not usually a meal you want to stand around and wait for. My fiancé and I each started off with a Spicy Bloody Mary ... and we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious they were! These drinks had a good balance of sweet and heat, with some fun garnishes on top. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles, which were topped with a Bourbon Maple Cream. This is not your traditional maple syrup ... and it ties the dish together so well. The only small thing I will say is if you like the warmth of maple syrup on your waffles, you might be missing that component here. The cream was sweet, and honestly made me want to lick the plate. The waffle was fluffy and chewy, and the chicken was perfectly crispy. My fiancé ordered the "Ultimate Bowl," and he loved every bite. Bacon, sausage, goetta, gravy, home fries, eggs ... it's probably the best thing to order when you want a little bit of everything. The gravy was creamy and peppery without being too heavy ... next time, we'll ask for an extra side of it! The service was great - and they flipped tables pretty quickly, so no one that we saw come in had to wait more than just a few minutes. After tax and tip, our bill was only $55, which is incredible considering how much you might spend for brunch in OTR. First thing is to park across the street at the administrative building and walk across. This doesn't look like much when you're coming towards it, but it is the cutest little restaurant. It was a perfect day to sit outside. I ordered a sprite and a chicken bacon ranch wrap with a side of Mac and cheese. The wrap wasn't necessarily anything special but it really hit the spot with the warm/hot weather. I also am a sucker for Mac and cheese and will always try it anywhere I go. They were very busy and we waited a bit before we got our drink order so we were already to order our meal which was fine. We also waited quite a bit to get our check after we were done, and I had asked for a refill and it took quite a long time. I went during my hour lunch, and I was a few minutes late getting back, so I definitely recommend going, but maybe not if you're on a time crunch. read more
