This was a delightful discovery. We were camping nearby, and I found this while hankering for a local breakfast spot. I must say that the charm of this downtown mains street plays a larger than expected role. Rising Sun Indiana takes care to maintain a lovely main street and as you approach this diner, you can look straight down to the river front pavilion welcoming your line of sight. Once inside, you find small town diner loaded with character from the wall decor to the tables and chairs. The service is fast, friendly, and the food is especially delicious, well-seasoned, and with a surprisingly large selection of breads and jellies/jams. They are pet friendly and the second time I came in, there was a couple from Washington hoping to get a selfie with the owner's dog so they must have a bit of a social media buzz going too. I recommend both Rising Sun and it's Main Street Diner if you get a chance to be passing through this area. The Rising Star Casino RV Park is a nice clean place to stay too if you happen to be pulling your house around with you like we do.

Cute home style diner in downtown Rising Sun. It's very small but they have outdoor dining available during warm weather. The sandwiches we got were very good. The place is like stepping into your gramma's house - cozy and homey.

We stopped by here after the we attended the red wolf rampage at the red wolf sanctuary. This place was packed, I think it's the only place open within that area. There's only one server and a cook/owner/ cashier, I like it that its locally owned and homey. We have to wait forever for our food, but our waitress seemed to be working fast and as efficient as she can while waiting for our food, which was something she has no control. I already forgot what we ordered because we waited at least 45 minutes for our food to be served. When my omelette arrived, it was a little more overdone than I prefer, but I still ate it because I was famished. My husband's sandwich was a disappointment since it comes with 2 slices of ham, an American cheese and coleslaw, it's not what he expected since he's expecting a big stack of ham. The coffee was good, it's strong and freshly brewed.

This is the place to go for breakfast, if you want true home style cooking. This isn't the place to go, if you're on some fancy diet. It's a true greasy breakfast, but it's good. I had the biscuits and gravy, which was top notch. The wife had a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich that was even better. They don't have a state of the art commercial kitchen. They're cooking on the regular stuff you have at home, soothe food does take a minute. They had a legit grandma back there cooking the food up. Well I don't know her family history, so I cant say for a scientific fact that she had kids. But she met the age demographic of being a grandma, maybe a great grandma. So that's how you know the foods good.

My husband and i stopped in last week for breakfast. There were approx 4 tables seated and two new tables of two that came in behind us. Honestly the entire place felt dirty and sloppy. We sat for 15 minutes while the only waitress in the restaurant took care of all the tables including the two that came in after us because she apparently knew them. Both tables got their drinks and orders input to the cook before we were even approached. (We were never approached) We left. With one cook who did nothing to help the waitress and one waitress who honestly looked tired and sloppy and could not be bothered acknowledging us or get us water and coffee , we just didn't feel like the breakfast would measure up to our former visits. We went to Bob Evans instead.

I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, served with provolone, arugula, bacon, and Southwest ranch dressing, with a side of well seasoned fries. It was quite good with a decent piece of chicken. My husband had the turkey club wrap, with the same contents, but chose onion rings as his side. They were fresh and tasty. A quick and satisfying lunch. Bonus: one parking spot designated for veterans. Thank you.

My husband and I went to dinner at Wellington's on a Saturday evening and had a really nice time. We did have a reservation, so were brought immediately back to a table upon arrival. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly, and the ambience was decent. We ordered the French onion soup and bruschetta as appetizers. The bruschetta was delicious with fresh basil and shaved parmesan. The French onion soup was also very tasty but I wish there was a better ration of bread vs. onions in the soup. The Gruyère cheese on top was awesome and had a great cheese pull! For our entrees we ordered the filet mignon with bleu cheese crust and truffle parmesan fries, and a New York strip steak with mushroom and onions. Both steaks were ultra juicy and melted in our mouths. I would highly recommend the filet mignon with the bleu cheese crust! It was amazing. The Parmesan truffle fries were disappointing and bland. I wouldn't order those again. My husband really enjoyed his NY strip steak but mentioned that it could've used a pinch more seasoning. We will definitely dine at Wellington's again!

None of us had been here before and were excited to try it out. First, we came up to what we assumed was a reception desk outside the restaurant. The man at the desk completely ignored us. We stood there for about 2 or 3 minutes, and I asked him if we were in the right place. He said he thought so and that someone would come up and help us. Apparently, he was the IT guy. Finally, a young woman came up and took several minutes to get us back to a table. They were not busy. We sat for about 5 to 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. Then our waitress walks by and says, "he will be out with bread and water in a minute". Sure ok. We get that a few minutes later. Then it's probably another 15 before she even came to take our drink order! I had to catch her as she walked away and ask her to at least put in an appetizer order. We get our appetizer and she didn't even take our food order when she brought it. We were nearly done with it by the time she took our meal order. We wait a while and at 825 I asked a manager walking around how much longer it would be. He checked and said the order was just put in at 806. So she did something else before she put in our order anyway. She comes right behind him and says that it will be about 5 or 6 minutes. Ok. About 10 min later she comes by and says they had to make the aioli but that it's being plated. Ok. Ok. Wooo saaaa ok. We waited until 845. 1 hour and 15 minutes we had been there, they were not busy. We finally walked out. The guy in comes out to the rotunda saying our food is now ready. We no longer wanted to even be there, so we still left. We will never be back. Went to Mick's bar, great atmosphere, great food, great service. And a fraction of the price.

While traveling in northern Kentucky, he stumbled upon one of these places, The Farmstand Market & Cafe. Farmstand offers comfort food with a farm-to-table focus served in a cozy space with a bar and attached market. We started with the Goetta Hanky Panky Dip. This was made with cheesy goetta, bagel chips, pumpernickel bread, and light rye served in a cast iron skillet. The dip had a good sausage flavor with salt and some light spice while being cheesy, creamy, and full of flavor. The bagel chips were very crispy but were not served warm. The pumpernickel and rye were dry. Each complimented the dip, adding texture to the bite. My wife had the Reuben Sandwich. This sandwich came with sliced corned beef, homemade Thousand Island, pickled pig sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese on light rye with bacon ranch pasta salad. The pasta salad was cooked spot on while also being creamy. The bacon added crunch and saltiness to the salad. The rye had a great toast, and the Thousand Island was tangy and creamy. The pastrami was dry but had a good salty flavor. The sauerkraut was crunchy and had a good sour flavor cutting through the salty meat and the sweet dressing. The cheese was gooey and nutty and added flavor to each bite. I sampled the French dip sandwich and Mulligatawny soup. This was prepared with a sliced top round with provolone on a French roll. The soup was prepared with rice, chicken, carrots, onions, celery, lentils and spices. The chicken was very tender, the rice was cooked well, and the vegetables added texture to the rice. The soup was flavorful, had a wonderful aroma, and had a good salt content. The top round was thin and offered good flavor and chew. The roll was fresh and had a good chew paired with the ooey and gooey cheese with an excellent buttery flavor. The au jus had good flavor but was slightly salty, which overpowered it. Farmstand offers grilled cheeses, hot sandwiches, burgers, salads, appetizers, soups and main entrees. They also serve beer and have a full bar. The servers were pleasant and knowledgeable. I do think that perhaps many of the ratings are a bit higher than our experience. It could have been an off day for the kitchen team. I do suspect however that the food quality, and preparation is consistent and it just didn't quite meet what I would consider a four/five. I have travelled quite a bit throughout the world, had some really awful things and some high end, highly rated meals/places. It is simply decorated, and was reasonably clean. The server staff was friendly and effective, no issues with any of that. They even calmly managed to navigate a power outage that occurred, fortunately right after we got our meals delivered. I got a BPT sandwich and fries, and ordered a side of coleslaw. The slaw was actually pretty well done, crispy, just enough sweet to balance with the tang of vinegar. Where they fell off a bit on execution (or product choice) was the BPT. It was more of a fritter (likely frozen) vs. a pounded actual fresh pork tenderloin cut. It was thin, a bit "bready" throughout (not just coating). The bun was a tad bit stale, but they had toasted it as a good move to counter that. My wife got a turkey ranch wrap with fries. The name could easily be changed to ranch and hint of turkey wrap. The turkey prep is small cubes (may or may not be a Sysco bag of cubes type product), and there was simply too much ranch dressing, the cheese and vegetables were lost in a too wet, undisciplined glop inside of a spongy tortilla. It looks okay, but just doesn't hold up in actual eating. I wish them continued success, but I don't think we would be likely to stop again as we pass through the area.
