Dude I've slept on this place too long! I don't typically like to dine in, I like to get my order and go home. Not a thing here, no biggie. My brother and I came in prob 1230 ish on Wed. He got a water and a bud, I got a water and coke. He ordered the Mammoth burger, add bacon off the onion.... I got the country fried steak. Dude Im all about the reviews but this food smelled so good i forgot to take pics. He adored his meal (except it was like a sweet, bread/butter pickle they didn't mention) i loooooved my country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. All seemed homemade and wonderful. The green beans was my only complaint. Like they were drained from the can and put on the plate. Everything else tasted homemade and wonderful and our server was great. read more

Returning from Bigbone Lick State Park, stopped in at Boonedocks to see what it was all about. Had the burger and fries, burger was done well, came with all the toppings, fries were really good. It's named for Boone County, and it's out in the boondocks. Well off the beaten path but 100% worth the detour. This place is so country, and oozing with Kentucky hospitality. There's plenty of seating and good country music surrounding you. Plenty of high tops in the big bar room and there's a second dining area set off with low tables. We sat at the bar and were served by Candida who alerted us that it was $9 burger day - all burgers plus a side for $9 instead of $11 or $12. My husband had the Boonedocks Burger with side of broccoli. Burger was fresh, big and tasty and he was so pleased they cooked the broccoli nice and soft as he likes it. The sliders were the most generously sized ones I've ever seen. Pretzel bites were the bomb. There's chalk boards all around with specials info, featured items, clever commentary and some artwork. Behind the bar the board informs you of the WiFi password and the name of the bartender on duty. Brilliant! The bar has purse hooks. So convenient! Atmosphere, comfort, food, service, staff, all was top notch. If we pass this way again would return for sure. read more

We were at the Blue Licks State Park campsite nearby for a weekend. One evening we felt lazy and didn't want to make dinner at the campsite, so we came here. It was a little loud and flashy inside (lots of televisions and we had our kid with us), so we choose to eat outside on the patio. Although Boondedocks is basically a sports bar, we were impressed with the food we ordered. All our meals were delicious and filling -- just the right amount of food for each of us! Food was just ok. My husband got the chili burger and didn't really care for the chili, almost like it was old. The bar is spacious or you can sit outside on the patio. If I come back it'll be to drink at least the beer is cold. I got the beef salad to go bc we were already to go by the time I got the food. It was good but it didn't look very pleasant. This restaurant is as simple, down-home, and fun as it gets. Located on US 42 right at the interesection with the road to Big Bone, it's an easy, recognizable, casual, and convenient meeting place. Very spacious and both a table and bar area. Waitresses were Johnny-on-the spot and friendly. The food was generally bar food (what else would it be in a bar? The Maisonette? :) ) Service was quick, food was hot, and the burger is probably their best item. If you have any outstanding warrants, just FYI. You DO have to get used to the siren that briefly goes off when an order is ready in the kitchen. No, they're not coming to get you. LOL~ Prices always seem to enter into every restaurant these days and their prices are really no better or worse that any other comparable restaurant---everything is going up in price. The food was great. We were there at lunch on a Wednesday and only one waitress with 2 cooks. Took a little longer for our group of 13 but very friendly and worth the wait. You could tell it was favored by the locals so that showed it a good stop. It was clean not your noisy pub. read more

This place was just a meet up point for me and some friends. It had booze and food. In my book, that is a win. I had a BLT which is my go to at most places and french fries. YUM. It was so good. We stopped in here on our from Belleterra to Rabbit Hash when we were out on our motorcycle. We had breakfast and bloody Mary's. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and friendly. I had the biscuits and gravy. The drinks were tasty and The food was good! The only negative I would comment is that my husbands meal was $18 but not really $18 worth of food. It was the mammoth breakfast. But just a regular breakfast plate with a side of one biscuit/gravy. The food was good. But that plate at least was pricey than it should have been. Went on a Thursday evening for steak special. Not a single mask on any of the servers or kitchen staff. They had plastic coated menu but were not wiped off after anyone used them. This was one of the first places we have eaten out since the COVID quarantine. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the space between the tables. Plenty of spacing, they definitely removed tables. I was surprised that none of the employees in the restaurant were not wearing masks. The restaurant is more along the sports bar line. There were 6 and they came with marinara sauce. I had the smothered chicken less the peppers, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Each dinner comes with a choice of two sides of which there are plenty of choices. My chicken was delicious. Very moist and tender. I ate half and brought the other half home. The mashed potatoes could have used some gravy, they were a little bit dry. The coleslaw was very good, just the way I like it, a little sweet and thicker cut cabbage. My daughter had a BBQ bacon cheeseburger which she said was good. She also got the mashed potatoes. Both my husband and son got the New York Strip steak. They both thought it was very good. My son got medium well and my husband medium. Was a tad bit overcooked. My son more enjoyed the medium than his medium well. Made mental note to go one level lower next time we come back, but overall both enjoyed their steaks. They both had onion rings which I tried one and they were good. My son kept saying that they were good onion rings, he is picky so that is a pretty good recommendation. The only real complaint was that it took a while to get our check and to check out. Stopped in here yesterday for a beer and some apps. Server was very polite and quick to our table. She recommended the fire works shrimp which was delicious. Took a burger to go and it was great. I take back my stellar review of 6 months ago. Food was overpriced for a small sandwich with no sides. The initial waitress told us a side was included. We were charged and had to bring attention the overcharge to the waitress who took over the shift for first waitress. . Had to correct the bill a second time when we were charged for two drinks. It's a seat yourself kind of place. I chose the table furthest from the bar, but there was no avoiding the noise. My friend had her three year old son and I felt bad because every time that the patrons would cheer, he was startled. We were here on a Bengals game day, so it was loud. Usually that's not a problem, but after a weekend of camping at Big Bone Lick, I wanted to be wowed by the closest restaurant to BBL, not to watch a game. Everything on the menu is around the $8 range. I ordered the club sandwich and for my choice of side, was fries. The sandwich was excellent, but the fries were some of the worst I've ever had. They were burnt sooo bad. The waitress allowed me to replace the fries for cole slaw. Although the slaw was a bit too creamy than I prefer, it was great. My husband got the nachos and the cheese made the chips too greasy that he only ate the toppings and left the chips. My friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and she said that the meat was a bit dry. Again, my club sandwich was great. Our waitress was great and attentive. I'm not a football fan, but my fiancée is... so this is our compromise. He can watch the game and I can play KENO. They have the Kentucky Lottery KENO game which plays every five minutes. I love it - It's a blast. Food is typical bar food... I haven't had anything over the top, but the wings are always good (if you want spicy they typically are not as spicy as other places.... I would compare the HOT as similar to medium at other places). They also serve Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale... my favorite local beer! read more

First time at Boonedocks and I will definitely come back. It is non smoking which is a huge win living in Walton. They do have a patio for all the smokers out there. Enjoyed a great band on a Friday night! There was no cover charge (got there around 10) and they played mostly country which I really enjoyed! I didn't personally dance but has a dance area that around 10 people could comfortably enjoy at the same time! The kitchen stayed open until 11. I had the pretzel bites and cheese sticks. I will say the pretzel bites were above average. They were crunchy on the outside and nice and soft in the inside. Not that the cheese sticks weren't good but if you have to pick one or the other definitely try the pretzel bites! They had buckets of beer for ten dollars. (2 dollars a beer on a Friday night?!) sign me up! Now to the best part... They have KENO! Not an easy find this far down in NKY! I gave them 5 stars for KENO, good beer prices, no cover and great bar food! read more

GREAT TUNES, good location, AND AMAZING FOOD! Boonedocks is appropriately named as it is literally situated in the boonedocks. It's easily spotted on a main road about 45 mins south of Cincinnati and seems to be the only establishment for miles. What a lucky find it is! When we stopped here we expected typical bar/pub food and were happily surprised by the quality ingredients and great flavor their food provides. They have a menu that is pretty standard for a smaller restaurant, but had more choices than the average bar. The bar/restaurant itself was very clean and well lit. We only saw one waitress but she was very warm and welcoming and attended to us well. They have several HD TVs well placed around the establishment. There is a section with high-top tables as well as a section with regular tables. Boondocks also offers outdoor patio seating. The entire indoor eating space is non-smoking. They have restrictions after 8:00pm that requires patrons to be 21 and over and doesn't allow club colors to be worn. We stopped by around 3:30/3:45pm and the waitress said they had $2.00 domestic beer specials for happy hour. They have beer both bottled and on tap and have a very large, full service bar. We really wanted burgers and focused on that section of the menu, but they do offer wings, salads, sandwiches, and other food choices. They also have a decent kids menu which has a flat cost of $4.00. The burgers ranged from $7 to $8 and the sandwiches range from $4 for a grilled cheese to $6/$7 for other choices. We ordered the Boondocks Delux Burger (a generous half pound burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles) and the Kentucky Blue Burger (a generous half pound burger with onions, blue cheese, tomato, and lettuce). All sandwiches come with a choice of cottage cheese, coleslaw, or chips. For $1 extra you may substitute onion rings or fries. The cook brought our food out which was kind of neat since that's not a typical experience of mine. The burgers were incredibly well seasoned and juicy. Their fries were pretty good too as they seasoned them with a little bit of salt and pepper. We ordered chicken fingers for our daughter and were VERY surprised to find that the chicken is ACTUAL TENDERLOINS and not the typical mystery chicken meat!! They were very lightly breaded which was nice since most restaurants serve heavily breaded tenderloins. Those were also delicious and quite moist which is rare for fried chicken. If we ever happen to be near Boonedocks again, we will definitely stop by for some delicious food and drinks! read more
