OMG! Look at this thing, near the top of my favorites, the Club Sandwich, 'all the way', I added bacon, pickles, banana peppers and mayo. This place would be an easy five if it wasn't a health department nightmare. The good; My sandwich was excellent. Nice portions of meat and cheese, great bread, very good value. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. One of the best sub sandwiches I've tasted. The bad; The place is dirty. The carpets are dirty, the tables are dirty, and the food prep counters looked dubious. The ugly; The guy making my sandwich (whom, it seems, is the owner) hits the hand sanitizer. Nice. Doesn't put on gloves. Ummmm, really? Then as he makes my sandwich, he WIPES HIS HANDS ON HIS DIRTY T-SHIRT no less than five times! It was late, I was hungry, so I took the risk. After ordering the Super Special- (ham, salami, pepperoni, turkey, bologna, cappicola and cheese) I bit into a oddly familiar bread texture. A texture I have had before and was not a fan of, almost a thicker denser Subway bread, the density most commonly found in chain locations. Overall the sandwich was lacking in meat quantity and quality and upon finishing off the first half, I had an unintentional side salad left on my wax paper. The shredded lettuce was not crisp and was enough to feed a farm of ravenous rabbits. The only think worse than chain sub sandwiches are chain sub sandwiches that origionated in South Carolina. read more

Got hungry on our drive from MI to TN. Drove by two national "sub" shops on the "way" to Sub Station II. So glad we did! Ordered the Ultimate and was not disappointed. So much meat! My wife chose the 3 cheese and veggie. 2 halves was plenty to fill us both up. Had a great conversation with the owner about driving and eating. He said he provides special bags to keep all the goodies from dripping on your lap on the road. He was not wrong... great customer service with an owner and employees who care. Yummy and fresh! Definitely worth the money. It takes a little time to get the food but it's cut and put together right there in front of you. They are friendly too. The $10 sandwich could feed a family of four. The tomato, onion and spinach were so fresh. There's a little bit of a charge to add things to the sandwiches, but it's just that, minimal. read more

I've been on a quest to try some small, locally owned places and decided to run in here to pick up a sandwich for dinner. Dream St. hasn't had the best reputation, but things seem to be getting cleaned up, so I thought I'd give Sub Station II a try. First, the good...the owner was very friendly and accommodating. He helped me navigate my choices (and there are many) and was kind enough to let me try two kinds of bread with my turkey and ham sandwich. The white bread half sandwich was my favorite, the salted rye half must have been sitting too long because it was hard and tasted stale. Now, the not so good...the restaurant is badly in need of a good scrubbing and decluttering. The environment makes me wonder what the cooler and storage areas look like and if things are being kept at temperature, clean and safe. I did enjoy the half sandwich on white, but I'm not sure I'd return because I'm a little iffy on the cleanliness. read more

You people don't understand that this is the best sub ever. It is, really. I grew up on these subs in south georgia in the early 90's. During college my girlfriend would come visit me in Atlanta and she'd bring me a sub. Then - sadly, the franchise closed down. Sub Station II is my favorite sub sandwich place. They have a nice selection of sandwich types to choose from. I've tried a few different types and have yet to be disappointed. They don't have the amount of bread choices a subway has, but when you try the rye you won't need any other type. The thing they have that subway doesn't? They cut their own meats and cheeses for their sandwiches instead of that precut, prepackaged junk. I will stop by after work on a Saturday for a sandwich about every other week or so . My first visit here was surprisingly delicious. The strip mall it's located in doesn't lead one to think you are in for a positive experience. But it will be. Get the pretzel bread. It's like having your sandwich served on a soft salted pretzel. The man behind the counter (the owner I was informed) was very friendly and helpful. My sandwich was lovely . The macaroni and cheese is something I would skip next time. Also the half order is plenty of sandwich. My date got the whole size and it was basically two huge sandwiches. The subs here are very good. Get the roast beef or corned beef, it really does stand out from the meats at other sub chains. Definitely try your sandwich on the pretzel bread, it makes the sandwich even that much more special. But if that doesn't appeal to you, all of their bread is good. I didn't realize Sub Station II was a chain until searching for it in Yelp. The small and quiet little building certainly could use some love, as it gave off the feeling that SSII was more ailing family business than local sub chain. But the food wasn't bad. The service left some room to be desired, and relied more on a pre-set menu than custom-building your own sub from scratch. But since the menu was pretty large, and the ingredients pretty delicious, it's not really a problem. I'd say this is a great place to bring kids. A lot of the options struck me as the kind of simple builds that kids would like, and the price seems right to feed a whole family for not too much scratch. I'd recommend getting yourself some subs to go, and heading down to Devou Park, which is only a stones throw a way. Visited this place after finding it on Yelp. WAY worth going slightly out of my way. I'm a sucker for mom and pop type places and this did not disappoint. Friendly staff, clean, fresh ingredients prepared in front of you... I got the super special sub (#19) on delicious white bread and their typical fixings including lettuce, tomato, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano. Nice touches!! I added mayo, pickles & olives and it ended up being one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I also tried the fries which were fresh and AMAZING. They have a crispy crust to them and were cooked perfectly. Why people would go to the subway down the road is beyond me. Give this place a shot! You won't be disappointed! read more

Found this place in yelp and decided to give it a try. It was awesome and you should visit there soon. The place is not fancy or trendy, but it doesn't need to be. They have excellent customer service. The owner recommended a sandwich to us and it looked so good we both had to try it. I believe it was #14. They had slice the meat and cheese in front of you. Then you get to pick your toppings. PS get the pretzle bun. It was wonderful. We each got a size of onion rings which were made to order and tasted good! They handmade a onion ring sauce that my husband loved. I however thought it was too spicy so the owner gave me some ranch to mix it with to tone it down. And it was very yummy. They also have a rewards program where you buy 20 subs you get one free. Seems a little high to get something free, but then most places don't do any rewards anymore. If you're in the area stop by this place for a good sandwich and great customer service. read more

Never have I been disappointed, or left hungry, from Sub Station II. The sub menu may seem simple but wait until you see the generous portions of freshly sliced meats and toppings ("all the way" + pickles for me)! This isn't even mentioning the Gyros, Burgers, or Seafood available; and of course Mike's homemade sauces/dips which are amazing.
