Never have I been disappointed, or left hungry, from Sub Station II. The sub menu may seem simple but wait until you see the generous portions of freshly sliced meats and toppings ("all the way" + pickles for me)! This isn't even mentioning the Gyros, Burgers, or Seafood available; and of course Mike's homemade sauces/dips which are amazing. I give this restaurant 3 stars based on the food only and 0 stars for cleanliness and appearance. This is, by far, the filthiest restaurant I have ever eaten in. I went here on a week day afternoon when they weren't busy. I order the pretzel bread sandwich. It was great. They are about the same as Subway price wise, but I like local food more than franchised. I'm not sure how other sandwiches are, but I enjoyed what I ordered. read more

I have been going to this place for easy 15 plus years. One of my fav sandwich shops around, wish I had in Lex. Back in High School days they would help with our Pre Football game meal ( would say they still do ). On top locally owed and owner and family the ones that wait on you. Great people. Yum!!! The meat is fresh, the service is fast, and the flavor is phenomenal. I recommend a #16 on a pretzel bun. It's 100 times better than a chain sandwich shop and the service is personal. Mike, the owner, is always out on the floor and he gives great advice on what you should try based on your preferences. They can even cater for you. We visited SS2 because of a coupon. The dining area was very dirty and had a stale smoky smell. I felt like I was in a bowling alley lounge. We decided to get the food to go to get out of the space. The food was fine. It was average sub sandwich fare, nothing so special to excuse other sins. I'll not be returning. read more

Everyone is always so friendly and it doesn't get much more fresh than slicing the ham straight into your sandwich! Always a great experience and I have never been disappointed by a menu item! The whole sandwiches are humongous and feed me for two meals for less than ten dollars. The half sandwich is the perfect size and goes great with a bag of chips and an ice cold fountain soda. I had the club sub (1/2) on their special dark wheat but slightly sweet sub bread and ordered the home-made pasta salad. Both were delicious! The owner mixed up horseradish and mustard especially for me, and his pasta salad was the best I've had in ages! I was going to save 1/2 of my 1/2 sub for tomorrow's lunch since it was a LARGE 1/2 sub plus I had gulped down the pasta! However, I couldn't stop eating it and before you know it, both the pasta and the sub were in my belly! This is going to be a regular mid-week stop pick me up from now on! Seriously great tasting subs! These are leaps and bounds better than subway. I love sandwich shops and this one is one of my favorites for sure. Choose another place! Im an employee at a large company and our team orders out about twice a week with 14-20 people ordering from my team. We like to help small businesses and have ordered from sub station quite a few times the orders are close to $100. Our order today had a few sandwiches that were incorrect and we thought we may wantbto call to advise the manager so he can address this to help his company. When we called we were treated awful by the owner Mike who told us that he would not be making this right and WE his customers were thw ones giving him poor customer service by placing so many orders and paying for them individually (same as if we all came in individually and ordered) we were floored and speechless. My manager also called after hearing this as sub station was put on the list for our upcoming floorwide order from them for boxed lunches and was treated with the same horrible service. He said he didnt want our business and that i was rude being the one who picked it up even though he had only just gotten there and i was being very nice to the kind lady taking my order. The lady who i called the order into was also very nice. Its unfortunate that the owner has such poor customer service skills. We will never order from here again. read more

the food here is good, best turkey i have ever tasted, that being said..the slicer was not wiped down at all before or after my meat was sliced..and it was filthy and had a pile of meat just sitting on it, who knows how long that was there...the oven the bread went through looks like they NEVER clean is out full of crumbs that are just fallin out of it..The place is dingy looking and dirty..the man waited on me and then went to prepare my food without gloves or even sanitizer..and he was the owner...the carpet is stained and had to look hard to find a table that wasnt dirty..the paper placemats were stained and you do get a lot of meat on your sub, problem is it falls off and all over..i think if the man took more time to tend to his places appearance and less time chatting customers he could have something... read more
