First yelp review. I know it's tough out there, being in the service industry for 20+ years, but the response from this owner warrants it. The gist - I ordered a custom pizza (takeout) for me and my folks in person, not online, and it came with no cheese. I didn't believe it until my folks sent us a picture and they were right. We called to see what happened - apparently you have to request cheese at Speak Cheezy. Again this was an in person order, not online. The next morning I called to ask what happened and the response boggled my mind - apparently the "rules" are you have to ask for cheese! When I reached out to the owner via Insta, which is the only way I could get a response; this is what he had to say. My message + see screenshots for Jason's response. ### Hey Jason, [PLEASE READ ] I've been ordering pizza since 1985 @ Dominos - back then, it was premium. Over time, I've learned there is better pizza out there, and your joint has proved that time and time again. Which made my experience last night so disappointing... I was happy to drop off your pizza to my folks last night, until they called to share (complain) their disappointment that the pizza had no cheese. We thought they were crazy so they sent us a picture and it was true - NO CHEESE from Speak Cheezy! This was an in person order, not online. So we called your place this afternoon and spoke to two of your employees - they confirmed and shared the policy for any custom pizza, the customer must ask for cheese. When we questioned your team members why it would not be defaulted/confirmed for cheese on the pizza, their response was "we wouldn't ask you if you wanted olives, would we?" I understand dietary needs have evolved but having to ask for cheese on a pizza is silly. You must agree... We love your place - order on the regular and recommend it to our community + we always tip above the three buttons offered. Please enable us to remain loyal and enthusiastic customers by making this right with a refund or credit for our next pizza and educate your front line team to do the same. Standing by...
So, I've had this place on my radar for quite some time, and today I happened to see an influencer reviewing it on IG, which finally convinced us to give it a try! So after the movies, my hubby and I decided to check it out. We ordered a Margherita pizza, and I have to say, the cheese and dough were really good! The sauce, however, wasn't quite my cup of tea. It was thicker and more tangy than what we usually prefer. We like our pizza sauce on the lighter, brighter side, with that fresh, sweet-tart flavor. But then came the chocolate soft serve... and THAT was a solid 10/10! Absolutely delicious and definitely a highlight of the visit! Customer service was also very cordial, friendly, and attentive, which always makes the experience even better. Overall, glad we finally gave this place a try!

Randomly stumbled upon Speak Cheezy in Long Beach and so glad we stopped in. They specialize in sourdough pizza and it shows. Got a slice of the LBC - mozzarella, pepperoni, fennel sausage, ricotta, garlic, oregano, and parmesan, and it was really good. The crust was perfectly crunchy, the toppings were generous, and every bite had so much going on in the best way. The combo of fennel sausage and ricotta especially worked really well together. Interior is fun and casual, and staff were friendly. Solid spot if you're in the area, would definitely go back to try more slices!
We've gotten large pizzas to-go several times now. It's a small spot with a tiny dine-in area, basically one table and maybe a bar against the wall. One a nice evening we ate at an outdoor bench, though it was awkward. Their original sourdough crust is super tasty. The Vegan Cheeze pizza is great as-is, with a generous amount melty and delish plant-based cheese, but we've added the vegan pepperoni --which the online menu notes is Green Slice's Veggeroni-- which gives it a bit of a kick. We also tried adding the roasted mushrooms once. There are other plant-based toppings to choose from including oregano, basil, red onion, jalapeños, garlic spinach, roasted garlic, gaeta olives, cipollini onions, and the ever-controversial pineapple. As a vegan, so I can only speak to the vegan options, and I'm so glad they offer them here.
Pizza is good but I have never been more disappointed in a wing in my life! If u like boiled wings maybe u will like these.... What a waste of money! Had one bite and had to throw the rest away. I truly cannot believe they are selling wings after ordering these for the first time. Absolutely disgusting.. Long Beach is an incredible food city I don't know how they get away with having these boiled wings on their menu. If I was giving stars just for the pizza I would put 4 but the wings are bringing my review down to two stars
I had high hopes for this place after seeing a few videos on Instagram recently. I tried their truffle shuffle and it was decent at best. I feel like this place has a ton of potential to be super cool if they just live it up a little bit by even playing a little music. The inside decor of the place was really cool, and the customer service was pleasant. I did notice that they have like a little pick up window. Where perhaps you could grab a slice and go versus going inside. Parking is on the street and free. If you're unsure about trying this place, I recommend going during lunch for their lunch special but to buy a whole pie I don't know if it would be worth it unless you're sharing with people
I have to say, this is probably the worst slice deal in America (and I've eaten a lot of slices at a lot of places). With tax and tip each slice came out to a little over $10, in this economy?! However, their full Pizza prices are in line with what you would expect from a place like this, so this is probably a place I would only recommend coming if you want a whole pizza. It does have a very cute ambiance and it's a bit of a cozy location with not a ton of seating, but it gets the job done. I was also a little disappointed because of the hype around the crust, it really didn't taste that unique, but one of the pizzas I had was very flavorful (the Truffle Shuffle). I really regret not getting the vodka slice because the gentleman at the counter said the other option was better, but I've heard very good things about their vodka pizza from others. At some point I would like to come back here and give this another try, maybe in a group setting and getting a whole pizza to-go. I also heard their ranch is very good, but I forgot to try it this time. Food: 3/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 1/5 (for slices) Overall: 3/5
Long Beach's cornerstone pizza shop that has a lot to say and definitely here to stay. It proudly boasts a finely tuned sourdough, perfecting the crust and overall feeling to the dough. Throughout every visit, they've hit all the marks when it comes to different types of pies and each experience was consistently awesome. Offering more than just slices and squares, theres always something for someone. I recommend any of their hot honey or burrata pieces as it's my favorite combo but that veggie mushroom pizza is another level too. They always are quick with orders or heating up slices but i do recommend calling in when busy. Stepping in always feels like getting a classic pizza shop experience with big city quality. People are free to enjoy their slice and just hangout in or outside. The weekends are almost movie like with a friendly neighborhood vibe that will reel you in.
Yes, please, thank you, and may I have another? Speak Cheezy is everything good about pizza and definitely one of the top pizza shops in Long Beach for a reason. I ordered the Brooklyn Bee. The crust was incredible, and the ingredients used were delicious and well balanced throughout the pie (including the hot honey - yum!). I ordered online for an easy breezy pickup. The hardest part is just finding parking when it's peak hours.

Decent neighborhood pizza spot in Belmont Heights. It's on the corner of 4th and Termino, nice neon sign, can't miss it. This was my first time here, called in and ordered the Cheese Please. They make you prepay over the phone, seems weird. It was ready in 15 minutes. I found a street parking spot right in front. It's a hole in the wall place, no frills. The kid was nice who gave me the pie. The pizza is good, I'd give it a 3.5/5. The sauce has a decent flavor. Sourdough crust tasted good but was undercooked, same with the cheese. If they kept it in the oven another 3-4 minutes it could have been cooked correctly. I'm down to try it again but I'll ask for it well done. They have a pizza called "New Haven Style" I'll be back to give that one a shot since that's where I grew up... read more

Great elevated pizza shop. The service is hit or miss but the pizza is stellar in my opinion. I love their style of crust it's airy and crunchy while still having substance and carrying the toppings perfectly. I believe it's sour dough but am not sure. My favorite by fair is the Brooklyn Bee! I am not sure what brand of hot honey they use but it's delicious and adds some actual kick! Price is on the steeper side($30+/pizza) read more

I AM COMING BACK!!! I got the AKA Vodka pizza and added the parmesan cream dollops, and it was honestly one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. The crust was exactly how I like it--light, fluffy, and crispy all at the same time. The size of the pizza was perfect for two people, but honestly, I probably could've finished it myself because it was that good. The ranch tasted like dill which I love and it was perfect for dipping the crust. Now I want to try every other pizza on the menu because if this one was that good, I can only imagine how the rest are. I also heard their chocolate chip cookies are really popular, but I didn't grab one this time. Definitely regretting that now, so I'll be back soon to get one. Overall, everything was delicious and it's a great meal to bring on a picnic! read more

Visited Speak Cheezy for the first time today to try out the @lbfoodcoma collab pizza, morning glory curry pizza. This was soooo good!!!! Definitely the most unique flavors I've ever had on a pizza and all of them went so well together. But that wasn't even the best part- the crust!!!! OMG the sourdough crust is seriously the best I will definitely be back to try other pizzas just for that. We also ordered the buffalo wings. I didn't love those at all, but I also didn't dislike it. Had the LBC, pizza was good. On par with the hype. Nice balance of toppings and flavors. Well done crispy crust. Will be back to try their other specialty pizzas. Son got two pies for takeout. The dough is well made, has a nice chew and stayed crispy for the drive home. The pepperoni came with hot honey drizzle all over , I liked the larger slices of pepperoni than the usual tiny disks. Basil scattered over the top was a nice addition. The margherita pizza was equally good. Added anchovies to this for a bright contrast. Each large slice is enough to eat folded up and still keep all the drippy sauce in. Came with a small container of Calabrian chili oil, which is another pop is spice. Pricey but definitely delicious. No trouble ordering or picking up. They also quickly responded on social media when the son asked how to reheat. read more

Got a Pepperoni pizza and asked for it well done. Nice cupped pepperoni with a nice amount of crust. And that crust is delicious. Totally Sourdough. Thin in the middle and puffy on the outside. Very nice chewy texture with bubbly brown air pockets. All of there pies are 14". Very nice undercarriage and zero flop. Portnoyisms This is a to go place where most people are carrying out multiple pies. TIP:Half hour wait for a Saturday evening, so beware and maybe call in your order. UPDATE: Leftovers warmed up in a toaster oven taste even better than yesterday!!! read more

I came here last year because I heard on the radio that this establishment got an award or was named the best pizza by a reputable organization. I ordered a Truffle Shuffle and it came after 20 minutes. It was fresh out the oven and pretty hot. The pizza has a very good cheese pull and yummy mushrooms. The crust is both crunchy and chewy and has a sourdough taste. I liked the piped splotches of sauce on this pizza. It tastes like a truffle sour cream and is full of flavor. The only downsides of this establishment is that the price is a bit steep (but you get what you pay for) and the building is a bit small so there isn't a lot of seating when it gets busy. The pizza is very good and does deserve a try. read more

I'm not sure how it was determined that Speak Cheezy is the best pizza in America, but whoever decided this is absolutely right. This pizza is transformative. Every one of them looks like a work of art, and somehow they taste even better than they look. I've had the Truffle Shuffle and the LBC and they're perfect - complex flavors, fresh ingredients, delicious puffy sourdough crust, and incredibly friendly service. Just stopped by for lunch and Ed was kind and attentive to every single customer. These pies are a little pricey, but absolutely worth it! This place has some of the most amazing pizza in Long Beach and surrounding areas. The deep dish we ordered was a bit smaller than I thought that it was going to be, but honestly it was delicious! The service was friendly, and the workers were so fast paced! The inside was a little meal for a pizza of this quality, though. I recommend making sure you call ahead and order so it doesn't get overcrowded in there. Keep it up guys! read more
The pizza store has been voted as the local favorite in 2021 by Slice, and it has also been named the Best Pizza in America by the Washington Post. The walls of the store are painted red as a tribute to San Francisco, where sourdough was first made. What we ordered: THE LBC (Mozarella, Pepperoni, Fennel Sausage, Ricotta, Sliced Garlic, Oregano, Parm) - Both pizza were presented with blistering crust from the pit. There were more fennel sausages than pepperoni slices, with ten dollops of ricotta. The crust was different from the usual Italian/ New York thin-crust pizza. It was definitely tangy and chewy. If there is an identity to a CA-style pizza, sourdough bread is the core of its fantastic creation. This pizza complemented well with the FRESNO CHILI OIL (extra). TRUFFLE SHUFFLE (Mozzarella, Parm, Shrooms, Truffle Crema, Lemon Zest, Cheek Parsley) - This white cream pizza hit the mark. It had a truffle aroma with a delicate taste of the mushrooms. This pizza complemented well with the DILLY RANCH DIP (extra). GREEN GOODNESS GEMS (Green Dressing, Lettuce, Citrus, Ninja Heart Radish)--The secret is in their dressing, which tastes somewhere between parsley and ranch. First time trying the LBC Pizza and I'm not even gonna lie... it really lived up to the hype. The crust was perfect, the flavors actually hit, and everything just tasted fresh. You can tell when food is made right, and this was definitely one of those moments. I went in not expecting much, but now I get why people talk about it so much. I've wanted to go there for long time and finally I did. I loved pizza and the guy at cashier was very helpful to explain about their pizzas. We had Cheese pizza and TieDye. I loved TieDye better than cheese but cheese is also very tasty. TieDye has more different flavors so I feel I can eat many slices if I have a bigger stomach. Their merchandise is so cute and I wish they have a cap with different fabric. My husband said it was a bit pricy and I agree but I would pay for good pizzas like they make. read more

Who isn't looking for the best pizza slice? I've heard everything about Little Coyote but nothing about this place, which was shocking to me when I saw the reviews and how big the slices are. In addition, the customer service was outstanding! The place caught my attention randomly and I had to try it for lunch. I'd like the record to show I got three slices to make sure I was able to give a full review. It was not an ideal parking situation as it was street parking. In the back of the pizza joint, there is a parking lot, but I'm not sure if it belongs to the pizza joint. As the area wasn't too crowded, I was able to find a free parking spot on the street. The best part of walking into this place is the smell of pizza in the air. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted and moved on to order. Unfortunately, this was not the best pizza experience I've had in Long Beach. I started by ordering the Little Gem Caesar which was delicious. I never thought to add an egg to a Caesar salad but I've made it stable for when I have this salad at home or at other restaurants. The salad came with soft cooked egg, kewpie caesar dressing, crouton, shaved Parmesan cheese, and black pepper this salad needed nothing added to it. Taking it back to the classics, I started off with a margarita with crushed tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, Parmesan, fresh basil, olive oil, and maldon salt. Although this pizza had great flavor, the dough was undercooked to the point where I couldn't enjoy it, and was extremely greasy. My eating experience did indicate that the ingredients were fresh. My only complaint is that the slice was undercooked. My next attempt was Pepperoni. It had chopped pepperoni, crushed tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and grated grana padano, but it still seemed like it had not been baked. It tasted like a mix of dough with toppings that I had to pick off the top and once again it was obvious they use quality ingredients. The LBC had crushed tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, fennel, ricotta, Sicilian oregano, and parmesan cheese. It was undercooked as the other two, so I began to wonder if maybe it was the style of pizza and it was not undercooked at all. I'll post the photos and you can decide. Had I not run into the problems with the undercooked dough, this place would have been my go-to for easy pizza slices. It isn't the first time we ordered from speak Cheezy and they are usually solid. My husband and I were so excited to try their Birria Pizza based on the photos they have on their menu as well as Instagram. The photos are very misleading and we were severely underwhelmed when we received our order. It doesn't even look like the same pizza! No consome, like pictured and stated on their menu, or anything else that makes it a birria pizza! Cheese and 5 pieces of meat!! We might as well have ordered a cheese pizza at this point! I asked the cashier about it and we were assured that the meat was under all the cheese ( it wasn't) such huge disappointment!!! I reached out to their social media handle, as well as sent them an email regarding my experience but haven't heard back from anyone! What a waste of money! read more
I've heard lots of great things about Speak Cheezy, and it's actually my manager's favorite pizza spot, so I had to try it. I should have made a to-go order, but my partner and I ended up going there on an impromptu trip, so we had to wait a while for our pizza. Not a big deal, but I will definitely order first before going into the shop next time. The pizza is good and has great flavor and crust to it. I got the truffle shuffle since I love mushroom truffle pizzas. This one is a solid pizza, but not really a pizza I will rave about to my friends and family. Good but not amazing. read more
The pizza and soft serve here was AMAZING!! Definitely come for the pizza. It was fresh and delicious. The soft serve was on the house due to issues with our order(thank you!) and it was delicious. Great on a hot day. Unfortunately, our group did not like the chicken wings. We picked the black garlic Parmesan and it just tasted like curry. Not what I had in mind for the flavor we chose. But, that was just our opinion. The service was incredible. I appreciate the people working cause they made it a great experience and you could tell they cared about serving the customers. Decent Not disappointed Prob wouldn't return I appreciate that. They sell the pizza by the slice. That way, I got to try to different ones. And sometimes you don't want a whole pizza Pepperoni square was super greasy and it got everywhere (despite many napkin dabs) but it didn't taste greasy if that makes sense Good. Kinda like a premium French bread pizza from the grocery. I appreciated that it was sourdough bread. It was like pizza on a good piece of bread. Long Beach one with pepperoni sausage and ricotta was a typical slice. Not as greasy. Lacked flavor surprisingly. Added the peppers and cheese to Help. Sour dough made the crust great I tried this place because my neighbor was saying this is her favorite pizza over the three other local Places I frequent and love....meh (better than the chains for sure) Oh and the chocolate chip cookie was decent. ...couldn't resist stopping here cuz the street parking spot RIGHT IN FRONT was calling my name!!! Been craving this salad ever since I had it at my #BNE's BD party back in February.... so today when I was really headed somewhere else, I made a pit stop on my way back... One day, I'll time it right to grab one of their sourdough pizzas which are DELICIOUS!! Can't wait to enjoy this after my gym workout tonight!! #BestCesarSaladEVER!!!! read more
