    Cracker thin crust
    Wendy B J.

May 11, 2026 Never tried this style before and today seemed like a good time. I grew up in central New Jersey, between two powerhouse pizza cities (New York & Phila.) so when it comes to pizza, I can be a pretty tough critic. This style has a cracker thin crust with a buttery taste. It was cut differently than regular pizza and I found that easy to eat. I ordered a 10' and for one, it's enough. Besides, I took a few pieces home. The taste of the sauce and toppings were good. I usually drink beer with my pizza but today, I just wanted a cold Mr. Pibb. Went perfectly with the pizza. Now, whenever you dine on 2nd street in Long Beach, parking can be a challenge but I lucked up this time. I was there just before 1pm. Service was good and given with a smile. All in all, recommend to those who have never tried this style of pizza. Always remember to tip your server!

I finally had the opportunity to try Rance's and I really wanted to love it since it's in the perfect location and Chicago style pizza isn't easy to find in these parts of town. Sadly, the cornbread crust isn't for everyone and it makes for a really thick consistency and overpowering taste. However, the waitress was really sweet. The bourbon wings were so delicious and the ranch dressing is what I will be back for.

What would I do without Rance's?! I am not from Chicago, but find their deep dish pizza to be the best I've ever had. Crispy crust, GENEROUS toppings, always hot and fresh, and served by genuinely nice people. The space is open and airy, and it's a great place to go when you want to watch a game or have a leisurely day or evening out. The pizza takes an hour to cook, but it's SO worth it! Awesome salads and wings, and a very robust beer menu too!

Spicy Thai Wings-close runner up to best wings of Long Beach!

If you're looking for the best wings in Long Beach (or the entire WORLD!) then come to Rance's! It's a toss up between which of their wings are the best and I'm ALMOST at a dead tie between the maple bacon bourbon and the spicy Thai peanut. BUT there is a winner and I've decided the msple bacon bourbon wings take the CROWN as the official best wings in along Beach! They also serve up a killer a Chicago-style deep dish with a cornbread crust (pro-tip: order a side of honey to dip your crust in!) I'm also a fan of their thin crust pizza. But the wings are TRULY the star and should be world famous. There is metered street parking and a nearby lot that usually has spots to park in. The service is fine, I used to have a favorite server who no longer works there and now I'd say the service is fine and I typically get takeout. The ambiance is open windows and lots of dog watching on Long Beach's beautiful 2nd st on Belmont Shore. It gives open seating and bar vibes. Check this place out for the wings and the Chicago deep dish!

I was not prepared!!! I was only a little hungry when I came to eat lunch here with my buddy. They have a great selection of beers and some cider.and seltzer too. We got the buffalo wings for the appetizer... Best I've had in a while. We ordered a medium stuffed pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and olives. Soooo good but I had to take a couple slices home. I've never been to Chicago bit people have said this is the place to go for thatvstyle.of pizza. GREAT PLACE.! Service was awesome. Environment is awesome too... can't get any better than a patio seat on an 80* January day near the beach. Highly recommend... that you come hungry.

    Sharing a cheesy pizza

Came to taste their famous Chicago pizza with lots of cheese, and it turned out to be quite cheesy--such that our table began cracking all sorts of cheesy jokes...LOL. Then came the wings, which were even more impressive. I highly recommend getting the wings with habanero and bourbon sauce.

So yummy. This may have moved up to our favorite soCal deep dish spot (sorry Gino's). The crust just has a flakiness to it that really hits the spot. It was packed on a Tuesday night and the servers were super busy. Got the garlic cheesy bread to wait for the deep dish (the usual 45 minute wait). We got the one with meatballs, bacon and jalapeños and it was delicious!

Decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat. Our server David greeted us with a smile. Food was ok. Staff extremely friendly. I ordered the thin sausage and it seemed a tad big watery in flavor however all the other items were delish. Metered parking on the west side of the building or you can park on the east of the restaurant and earn some steps! One thing I will say is I wished David stopped by more to check on us!

    Bourbon and Buffalo Wings

TL;DR: Excellent! The Bourbon Wings are just awesome, we fought over them. Cool place to see a game too! So we just happened to stumble upon this place because we were in Long Beach looking for a place to eat decided to trust other Yelpers. Well it so happens that the Dodgers game was in so why not watch and have some good pizza. As we looked through the menu we decided to get some wings too. Well the pizza was really good but I forgot to take a picture of it. But the bourbon wings were so good and unexpectedly sticky gooey and tasty that we had to get two more orders. Kids were fighting over the meatier wings but they were some of the best wings I've ever had. Service was also great and this is a great spot to hang out and enjoy some good food with sports. Highly recommend!

The deep dish pizza here is not really authentic deep dish. It's served in a deep dish, but does not taste like one. With that out of the way, it's still a pretty good pizza and I would still come back if I'm in town. The server was very attentive and hospitable.

David G never misses a beat, he keeps the cold beers flowing and the thirsty patrons happy, myself included!

I'm good for about two pilgrimages a year to this glorious temple of cheese and carbs, and let me tell ya, it never disappoints. David G was our server, and, like a seasoned Chicago veteran, the guy was dialed in all night. The atmosphere hits just right, TVs everywhere, perfect for sports junkies and championship dreams alike. Speaking of which, on this magical night (12/29/2025), I locked up my fantasy football league CHAMPIONSHIP, almost derailed by a Monday night miracle run fueled by Bijan Robinson, just a little side note of victory joy. Now let's talk pizza, because that's why we're all here. Rance's absolutely nails it. We're talking that thick, legendary, "fork required," cheese-for-days deep dish that stretches like it has its own highlight reel. Every bite? Pure happiness. Every slice? A commitment. Every chew? Chicago approved. And the beer? Cold, smooth, and the perfect sidekick, I found a tasty IPA that hit the spot. I mean, pizza and beer is an undefeated combination, how are you gonna argue with that? That's just science, Chicago-style. Rance's delivers like a clutch fourth-quarter drive. Can't wait for my next visit, whenever the pizza gods call me back.

Great deep dish pizza, we've tried at least 3 separate places and Rances was the best. If taking it home I'd highly recommend reheating it. Taste 8.3/10 Value 7/10

I had never had a deep dish pizza before Rance's and now my heart is in a forever battle between deep dish and thin crust. But for today, Rance's wins all battles. We got the carnivore deep dish and all that sauce and cheesy goodness still let me enjoy each piece of meat. I could not make it past two slices but I sure did try! The crust is flaky but not crumbly. Dip it in a side of cool ranch, and you'll be struggling to get a third slice. The service is always so quick and attentive. The servers always make sure to follow up and keep everyone having a good time. The set up in Long Beach is a beautiful brick building with fun artwork and string lights. The vibe definitely matches the Second Street life. Definitely my favorite location! PS. When ordering the deep dish, keep it mind it takes about 45 minutes to wait. But your pizza is fresh and delicious. Plus, you can snack on one of the many beer selections or shareable apps!

Thunderbolt Pizza in Long Beach has become my go-to pizzeria. After trying a wide range of their…read moremenu, two dishes stand out above the rest: the Pizza Margherita and the Garlic Knots. Pizza Margherita - 5/5. This is a perfect example of the care and craft that go into their food. The crust strikes a rare balance - it has that signature leopard-spotted char and slight floppiness you'd expect from a Neapolitan-style pizza, but also delivers the chewiness and airy structure of a great New York-style slice. It never tips too far into being overly crispy or dry. What really sets it apart, though, is the sauce. While many pizzerias treat sauce as an afterthought, Thunderbolt clearly does not. Their tomato sauce is rich, vibrant, and juicy, with a depth of flavor that avoids being overly acidic, salty, or tannic. It enhances the pizza beautifully without overshadowing the dough, which is exactly how it should be. Garlic Knots - 5/5. - Easily some of the best I've had anywhere in LA. These are essentially bread rolls with a super chewy interior and a thin, lightly crusty exterior, served alongside their excellent marinara sauce. They're incredibly satisfying and consistently a crowd favorite. I've brought visitors from Japan, Germany, and New York, and every single one of them couldn't stop talking about these knots. My only small critique is that I wish they had used fresh garlic instead of canned, which would have taken them to an even higher level. Still, even as they are, they're outstanding. Overall, Thunderbolt Pizza delivers thoughtful, high-quality food that stands out in a crowded pizza scene. It's the kind of place you keep coming back to--not just because it's good, but because it's consistently memorable.

When it came time to grab some food, we were able to get a table inside. Majority of the breweries tends to serve pretty much the same things, pizza sandwiches and salads. No complaints here. Simple food goes a long way. There were a couple of us so we grabbed a few things to share. Started off with the pretzel balls with cheese dip and honey mustard and the chips with queso cheese dip. We ordered a half and half pizza online for pickup and spent over $30 for pizza and a 4oz container of ranch. They told us it would be about 20min when we ordered so we got ready and left. We got there probably 15min after we ordered and grabbed two cokes while we waited. I tried to pay with cash and was told he might not have change to give me. I said that was ok even though it's pretty lame that you don't keep change in your register. He happened to find a very large coin bag and made me change. We were sitting right at the front and you couldn't miss us. They asked us a few times what our name for the order was and we told them the same thing every time. Finally after about 10 min they asked us for the 3rd time what our name was and then walked away. We could hear someone say "the order for Kymmy didn't leave they are here" or something along those lines. We kind of just looked at each other. The guy that rang us up came over and said, "sorry something happened to your pizza it'll be another 20min or so". At this point we had already been waiting about 15 min for the pizza. So we said ok because we were starving. One of the employees asked us if we drank wine we said no we didn't and that's why we were drinking cokes. He said, "ohh, okayyyy..." and gave us a very judgmental look. Like sir, you don't know why we aren't drinking. We also kind of figured he wanted to give us a few beverage for the mix up. But that was the end of it. We heard someone say our name and we asked if ours was ready and one girl acted like we were being impatient while waiting. Like we didn't just wait over a half hour for food. Finally our pizza was done after a total of 40 min and there was very minimal apology for the delay. We took it back to our hotel and we were so excited it smelled so amazing and it looked so good. I cannot tell you how disappointed we were when we took our first few bites. It was not that great. We had ordered pepperoni and the veggie pizza. We ate half of it because we were starving and very quickly regretted it. It made both of us super sick on top of everything else Needless to say we won't be back here and won't be recommending this place either

Deep purple, earth green and terra cotta red embracing rustic poured concrete floors while soft lights hang overhead. Nevermind! The food is fantastic! Hubs selected a generous 8" personal pizza of ham and cheese and took 1/2 to go because he was full btwn the pie and the appetizer of meatballs in sauce I ordered to compliment my delicious Mediterranean Salad. Tender, juicy chunks of chicken breast, simmered in EVOO, white wine, light tomato, onion, garlic, black olives & mushrooms sitting atop a bed of field greens, including radicchio and arugula, two of my favorites. Topping my salad was a generous serving of soft feta and everything was so fresh and yummy. Chelsey took care of us, was a professional, friendly delight and checked on us regularly. Unfortunately, the soda fountain wasn't working so the "unlimited refills" were replaced with cans of Coke (2 max). We strolled back to our hotel, pizza box in hand, bellies full and happy we found Buono's Pizzeria. We shall return. Cheers! "CC"

This turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise!!…read more My wife and I are here for a week, primarily visiting family. We're not fans of thick crust pizza, but Buono's is only a block from the Marriott Long Beach Downtown hotel where we are staying. So we decided to place an online order, and I walked over to pick it up. Week ordered a pepperoni, green pepper, and garlic pizza, and a caesar salad. It was ready in less than the estimated time. The first thing I noticed when I picked up the food. It was heavy! And when I got back to the room and took a look, wow! The salad was huge! It not only filled the plastic container, but was mounded in it with two containers of dressing. We each had a plate full of salad, and that just ate down the mound, leaving a full container for a second meal! For perspective, we ordered a caesar salad from room service in our hotel on another night. It cost nearly twice what the Buono's salad cost. And while it was good, the pricy hotel version was considerably smaller. There was nothing left over after we finished that meal. And the pizza? As I said, we usually seek out thin crust pizza. But one bite into this one changed my mind! The texture and taste was incredibly good! I'm not going to attempt to describe it, but it was far better than I expected it to be. It vaulted Buono's up our mental chart of best pizzas we have ever eaten. Buono's was not busy on this Monday evening. I hope that's not typical, because this pizza is very, very good. And we'll be having leftover pizza for lunch today, and the next round of salad for dinner along with a sandwich or something from room service. My advice. Give Buono's a try. I doubt very much that you will regret it.
