First time here, the food is great! Got the shrimp plate with fries & cole slaw. Got potato salad as another side because I'm big back lol. It's a pick up joint, no seating. Parking is available but small, otherwise street parking. I went to the pickup window and got my food immediately. I literally spent no more than a minute there. I was the only one there at the moment. Food was piping hot. The shrimp was yummy & the fried-ness of it was perfect! Paired with the sauces well, cocktail & tartar. For my sides, the fries were plenty and glad they weren't salty. The coleslaw and potato salad were also delicious. I like that the coleslaw has some juice, I don't like "dry" coleslaw lol. Stumbled upon this place searching for a fried fish restaurant and this little shack hits the spot. It's on Atlantic and Burnett. Tried the 4 piece fish (tilapia) and 2 sides (fries) (coleslaw). My husband tried the catfish with fries and hush puppies. The fish tasted fresh and not to heavy on your stomach. The fries were just okay for me they were on the thick cut side. Best to eat everything fresh unless you have an air fryer to reheat, fried fish does not taste the same in the microwave. It does take a a little while to get your food. Ordered ahead online and it took about 8 minutes after the order said it would be ready for it to be ready for me to pick up. It seemed popular but fast paste service. Finally, a good fish house close to home so now i don't have to drive all the way to north long beach for it. I got the jumpo shrimp combo and yes they tasted good and the batter was nice and crispy! Fries average just like most spots. The potato salad was good. They have fish, chicken, oyster and shrimp so lots to pick from. The lady taking my order was sweet. The Fish Shack is located in a busy street with a huge parking lot so pull up it's for to go orders only the staff is youngish and very nice. Fried Shrimp medium size. I texted my daughter and was like, "child ya mama is craving fish, not just any fish, but some good ole fried snapper. Tis the day to cheat on my vegetarian diet and it shall be with fish!" She recommended The Fish Shack. To bless her with the recommendation I had to buy her lunch too! My mom overheard the convo and asked for a plate too; sure mom, anything for you!! We conveniently ordered online and picked up our food at the time they stated it would be ready. Now lemme preface this that I fasted that morning cuz I know I was going to eat up all my calories in one meal! When we arrived we pulled right up and our food was ready! It was still piping hot, just how I like it! We checked our bags to ensure that we had everything cuz one thing I don't like is driving back home and my hush puppies are missing! We thanked the staff and headed home. A 12 min drive took 8; angels were all around my car (thank you Lawd!) We got to my mom's and sat down to eat. When I tell y'all.........(moment of silence) that first bite brought out a spirit of joy. The fish was seasoned well, crispy and hot! I got hush puppies and Mac salad. No one wanted their rolls so I took them and made me some mini fish sandwich. I ordered the 4 piece snapper and would you know I had 5 pieces in my box! I couldn't eat it all because it was more than enough. I went home with a shiny belly and 2 extra filets. I made me a fish sammich the next day with pickles and Mayo on a toasted brioche bun? Not gonna lie, coming here was a back up plan cause the OG Fish & Chips shop on Pacific was temporarily not operating till June 1st. But this place has good reviews and in close proximity so I gave it a go. I ordered the family deal and you give 2 choices of fish, many shrimps and most extra - OYSTERS surely, it was not your ordinary fast food run and a bit of a splurge but definitely worth it. Their house sauce looks like Canes but it's definitely my favorite. If you like ASMR worthy crunch, then give this a try ASAP. I tried the 10 piece fish bucket and the red snapper was good. The coleslaw needs some flavor and the fries were fresh and crispy. Make sure you ask for extra tarter sauce. They should include the fried okra as one of the large sides but won't let you do it with fish bucket. If you are craving fried fish this place will do. There are not alot of places in Long Beach that do it deep fried and freshly prepared like they do. This is not a place that you can sit and dine. Just a few weeks ago, I was searching for any fried seafood joints that peaked my interests. The Fish Shack in Long Beach caught my attention. I went with my old man and his girlfriend to that joint and I wasn't disappointed. We ordered fried red snapper, fried shrimp and fried chicken with an order of fries. The wait time was about ten to fifteen minutes but it was manageable; the food itself was really solid. I'll start with the fried red snapper; the seasoning was pretty good and the fish was well cooked. The first bite I took, I was actually impressed. I'm not typically a seafood kind of guy, but I've been interested in expanding my taste buds lately. The fish was overall pretty damn solid that I asked for another piece. The fried shrimp truly defied my expectations; the shrimp itself was tender and sweet and the seasoning in the batter was top notch and helped elevate the flavor. I was tempted to include eating the tail but decided against it. My dad especially liked the shrimp a lot. It was so good that I wanted more but unfortunately we were out. The fried chicken was also not disappointing; the moment I bit into it, the skin on the outside was crispy and the inside was juicy as hell. I actually burnt my bottom lip biting into the first piece, but nonetheless, it was really good. Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside are the best way I can describe the chicken... in a surprisingly good way. Despite the Fish Shack being solely take-out with us having to find a nearby park to have our meal at, the food was great. Despite the location being situated in what I can politely describe as economically diverse, the atmosphere was nice by takeout standards. Arguably the best part of the meal was the fried shrimp, which I wish I could've gotten more of. I would also like to give props to the staff for taking their time and ensuring quality service for us [the customers]. I ended up paying $70 for 10 piece of fish 30 medium shrimp 4 sides and bread. You get to choice two types of fish I got red snapper and cat fish. You have to pay an extra dollar and $.50 for the catfish. They have this orange sauce fire. As far as the food is concerned, I ordered catfish, chicken wings, fries, and hushpuppies. Now lunch was made to order I do not know if this is the normal way, but I waited about 15 minutes for the food to be ready. Here's what I thought: The catfish was delicious. It was thick and very meaty. There are a few places that serve thin catfish, which ends up being crunchy and gross. Here, this was not the case. The meat was thick, flaky, and meaty. In addition, the coating on it was excellent. Every bite had a crunch from the coating, which adhered to the fish. It is hard for me to pinpoint what type of seasoning they used. My preference for tarter sauce makes me dip mine before eating, but it did not taste bland to me. The chicken wings were also amazing, they were juicy, crunchy, and crispy, but the inside was still relatively soft and not dry at all. The golden color added to the overall flavor. I will order these again. Hushpuppies are not my favorite but I got them to keep on the theme they have jalapenos in them which was a shock as that was not mentioned on the menu. Fries are nothing to write home about if you've had them. I would suggest placing the roll on top of the food rather than underneath it, as it was under all the food. Despite the desserts, they were all pre-packaged, meaning they were bought for a first location and sliced here, so I skipped it.
