Cool spot! If you're into horror flicks and horror in general, this is the spot for you! We had the Slaughterhouse pizza, it was delicious! I normally don't care for overly greasy pizza, but this one was good. Cool vibe, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Three stars given because the table was not wiped down from the previous customer. There were food droppings on the table, we wiped it down ourselves.

Visited a couple weeks ago, and wow, 5/5 stars. Heard many great things about the food, drink, and atmosphere, and confirmed it to be true. This pizza though.... I forget the name and I *think* it was seasonal, but this was like the best I've ever had. It featured steak, and it was the best flavor combination ever. I'm sure the others are tasty as well, but damn, I hope this is brought back if it's not available. Great brew selection, great food selection, helpful service, and fun atmosphere full of arcade games, films, and decorations. Parking available in the nearby garages, with the first 2 hours free.

Night of the chicken dead pizza

I stumbled upon this restaurant online and had to come try it! The decor is horror themed and really unique. The ambiance is overall really fun! In addition to the decor there are also arcade games throughout the restaurant and they place cult classic films to enjoy with your meal. I came in on a Saturday at noon and they even had a live DJ playing music! The menu is really fun and stays on theme with the names of their pizzas. It was hard to choose which pizza to order because they all sounded so good! I had the night of the chicken dead pizza which was delicious with a thin crust topped with fried chicken. I also had the devils knots, which were garlic knots, although I regret not getting the cheese stuffed knots. If you don't want a whole pizza they also sell pepperoni and cheese pizza by the slice. The workers were very kind and welcoming. This was a great way to spend my Saturday afternoon and I'm already thinking of when I can come back with friends!

Had a deliciously evil evening at The 4th Horseman--hands down one of our absolute favorite pizza spots in Southern California. They're always serving up killer pies and epic brews, and last night did not disappoint. Pies we devoured: * Captain Spudling (my ultimate fave ) * El Puerco Loco (a very strong second!) * White Zombie (third, but still legendary) Every crust was perfectly crisp, the toppings were stacked, and the flavors were bold without being over-the-top. You can tell they care about what comes out of that kitchen. Brews on deck: * Moosehead Lager * Purple Haze * Get Toasty -- that dessert porter though... absolute favorite And the service? Always on point. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and totally matches the vibe--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely cool humans who make the whole experience even better. The dark, metal-inspired atmosphere just seals the deal--moody, loud, and unapologetically fun. If you're a pizza-and-beer lover (or just a fellow misfit like me), this is your spot. Killer flavors, great service, solid tap list, and always a good time.

We smile like serial killers next to creepy dolls & bones. Pizza & beer? Brutally consumed. No survivors. Mwahahaha

The 4th Horseman in Long Beach, CA, is no ordinary pizzeria, it's a portal to a nightmare realm where horror reigns supreme, and the pizza is the unholy sacrament. Last time I dared cross its threshold, my daughter, at the time, still trapped in the cursed age of under-21, forced us to exile ourselves to the patio, like outcasts banished from the crypt. Such is the merciless law of the night. But now, with her finally 21, we returned like vengeful spirits, eager to penetrate the shadowy interior. And what a descent into madness it was. The atmosphere drips with dread: walls plastered in grotesque horror memorabilia, flickering screens looping classic slasher flicks, and the relentless thunder of death metal pounding through the air like the heartbeat of some ancient evil. It seeps into your bones, forcing your pulse to sync with its savage rhythm. The recent renovations have summoned even more demons, rows of vintage video games beckon from the gloom, including classics that test your mortal reflexes. I, the undefeated Ms. Pac-Man champion (a title I whisper in fear no one will challenge), dominated the cabinets once more, all while the darkness closed in. At the bar, the spectral Emma greeted us with unearthly warmth, friendly, knowledgeable, and armed with pizza prophecies that proved prophetic. She guided us straight to the abyss: Night of the Chicken Dead. This monstrous pie arrives like a resurrected horror icon, parmesan-herb breaded chicken pieces rise from a bed of tomato sauce, scattered with roasted garlic cloves, melted mozzarella, Roma tomatoes, shredded parmesan, and shaved parsley. A final squeeze of fresh lemon drizzles over it like holy water on the damned, cutting through the richness with a citrus slash that awakens the senses. We devoured it in reverent silence, the flavors exploding like a jump-scare you never saw coming, crispy, juicy, garlicky, and utterly addictive. Paired with a few cold brews, including my chosen elixir, the Common Space Dripping Colors hazy IPA, a hazy apparition of juicy peaches, apricots, and fresh-squeezed orange that washes down the carnage in tropical waves, the evening turned into pure, unholy bliss. The service was swift, the vibes sinisterly fun, and the experience left us haunted in the best way possible. If you're brave enough to enter this den of metal, horror, and exceptional pizza, The 4th Horseman won't just feed you, it will possess you. Return if you dare. 4.5/5 screams. Check the bathrooms... if you've got the guts left to try.

Pizza by the slice: Pastrami on the left could've used more meat, veggie on the right was pretty good

Heavy metal, horror movies, arcade games, delicious pizza, beer and wine. This is not your average pizzeria. It's probably Long Beach's most unique and one of its kind. I've been here several times now and happy to see that they've expanded the space with what used to be Dark Art Emporium. Instead, they added more tables, a pool table and old arcade games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. Pizzas here are solid, thin crust, loaded with flavorful sauces and toppings. Beware of the Hellfire! I never had pizza so dang spicy! I nearly died. They don't allow refunds and they should have patrons sign a waiver if they order it! For LB Food Scene Week August 2025, they collaborated with Terrible Burger to create the "Terrible Pizza." Seasoned ground beef stuffed into a soft butter-glazed crust topped with mozzarella, cheddar, grilled onions, pickles and Terrible Burger's signature "Doog Sauce." I don't typically go for ground beef but this worked! The pickles gave the pizza a burger feel to it too. They have lots of good beer on tap but just a few wines to choose from: Sauvignon blanc, Cabernet or sangria. Must be 21 and over! Metered street parking.

Hello! The 4th Horseman was our first new restaurant of the new year, and about time. We've passed by this local spot in DTLB so many times that it's surprising we hadn't tried it sooner. We went mid-day on New Year's, and while the restaurant was fairly slow, they were still blasting metal over the speakers. It's honestly hard to tell what time of day it is inside since all the light is blocked out. The interior is very dark, but it's filled with cool, spooky decor, and there's a back room with more seating and vintage arcade games, which was a fun surprise. To be honest, I'm not the heavy-metal, hardcore type this place is geared toward, so this will probably be a one-and-done for the sit-down experience. That said, if you do enjoy that aesthetic, I think you'd have a great time here. We'll definitely be back for takeout because the food was very delicious. We had two light, crispy beers and a 16-inch Red Horse pizza. The Red Horse is basically a Hawaiian pizza. It comes with mozzarella, bacon, and pineapple, and it was very good and satisfying. The staff was nice overall, though the gentleman at the front door didn't acknowledge us and just stared when we walked in, which was a little awkward. Our waitress however was very kind, helpful and courteous when it came to explaining the menu to us. She asked for our IDs right away haha which reminds me, this is a strictly 21+ establishment. Overall, I recommend checking out the 4th Horseman if you're in DTLB. Thanks for having us!

The boy has been wanting to go here for quite some time after he saw it on a YouTube video. The reviews, vibe, pizza and beer all sounded good and it was super close to the Midsummer Scream convention at the Long Beach Convention Center so we headed over after the show. The place itself is super cool inside with death metal playing, reminded me of Phantom Carriage Brewery (RIP) a little and of Three Floyd's Brewing in Munster, Indiana. The boy and I were going to play some video games but we were told that very unfortunately, kids aren't allowed inside. I asked about the age restriction and the fellow behind the bar said it was because of the inappropriate horror movies they play (but kids were allowed into the Phantom Carriage and they showed horror movies too). Bummer! They really should change the rule. After all, my son was the one who found this place in the first place! Still, we settled on eating outside and found a spot and grabbed a couple seats. They could use a larger outside area as they were quite busy. We ordered the "Little Sprouts of Horror" (Brussel sprouts, garlic, chili flakes, bacon, parmesan and balsamic reduction) for $12 and it was crazy good. Like, amazing. For our pizza, we ordered the "Death to Piggy" (tomato sauce, mozzarella, bacon, pepperoni, Canadian bacon & sausage) for $24 and it was excellent and I'm a pizza snob. The cheese pull was great and the toppings were delicious. The crust had a good chew to it and had good flavor. The selection of beers on tap were good and they also had cans and cool sodas in a serve yourself fridge. I highly recommend you check out the 4th Horseman and I very much look forward to going back!

Love the devilish ambiance! Pizza was good, but didn't make me feel like I "had to have it"again. Sauce sides were the star of the show imo, and the beer selection was pretty solid. I would go back just for the brews and vibe tho :)

I've been dyinggg to visit the 4th Horseman for quite some time now and I'm so glad I finally stopped by with a friend. This establishment is a cute "horror/goth" themed bar located near Pine ave downtown. They seem to be generally known for their aesthetic and the fact that they specialize in their own pizzas. My friend and I seated ourselves at a table and were told by one of the staff members to scan the QR code that's on the table. The ordering process was so easy as we were able to effortlessly order our pizza and drinks from the table. I liked the no-contact method of ordering (unless you're sitting at the bar top) and the speediness of service. Our order was impressively brought out to us in less than 5 minutes. The pizza itself was good, it tasted almost similar to Costco or Sam's Club pizza. I had ordered an IPA and I believe my friend got a sangria or some sort of wine. The arcade games are also a pretty cool feature. Overall, I had a great experience here and will for sure be back!

My first time here to meet up with some old friends from high school days and it was the perfect vibe for us. We didn't realize the pizzas were full size so some people ordered a pizza for themselves but ended up sharing since it wasn't a small Personal size. There was a band playing when we arrived but we were able to find a table in the back to sit and eat. You can order at the bar or from your table with a QR code specified for your table. Pizzas were good and they do have vegan options. I had the cheese bread bites which were good but I'd probably opt for a pizza next time.

All are welcome here! Come as you are!

Was staying in downtown Long Beach and decided to take a walk to see what I could find for dinner. Everything looked so boring until I found The 4th Horseman. This is a horror-themed pizza joint that's actually tasty! It's a gimmick, but they have a solid product to back it up. The exterior (and interior) looks like a biker bar, but the heavily pierced and tattooed servers and cooks couldn't have been more welcoming. In other words, you really can't feel out of place here (I also loved that they have tons of gay and trans pride, black lives matter, and other super welcoming and inclusive signs hanging in the window! Hooray for inclusion!!) My husband is a horror nerd, so he had a blast just looking around. The decor is eclectic and messy, but it's all horror-related. Stickers, vintage posters, neon signs, street art: all with a horror theme. There are a lot of tongue-in-cheek nerd jokes too, like the walk-in freezer (you'll know it when you see it). Take your time soaking it all in. The interior vibe feels like a bar, with concrete floors, uncomfortable metal chairs that discourage lingering, a mish-mash of video games, a pool table, and metal music that is far too loud. The music was so loud that it caused the patrons to talk even louder, so we literally could barely hear each other during dinner -- even while scream-talking. Minus a star for that. It was deafening and very unpleasant. I'd actually consider getting a pie to go next time, it was so bad. The casual ordering system has two options: either scan and order and pay at your table (the qr code is on the napkin dispenser) or wait in line at the bar and order and pay. You'll be given a number (ours was a very appropriate 666), and a friendly employee will bring your pizza to the table when it's ready. The names of the pizzas are terrific and creative, all with horror names. It was impossible to resist the "Death to Piggy" pizza, which was topped with pepperoni, sausage, and bacon. Normally I'm a plain Jane cheese girl (they had some vegan options), but I compromised. We didn't order drinks since they had a self-service water dispenser (major kudos to that)! It took a while for our pizza to arrive, but I could watch everyone's order being freshly prepared and baked. Patience is key here. We visited on a very busy Friday night, so maybe it would be faster on a slower day of the week. If you're starving, they have fresh cheese and pepperoni slices that are ready to eat right away. Finally our pizza came out of the oven! It was served HOT. Like, HOT hot. The metal plate it was brought on kept it warm for almost the entire duration of our meal (and we are slow eaters). I LOVED this, because nobody wants cold cheese. We had to wait for it to cool down before taking that first bite. And oh, what a first bite it was! This pizza was incredibly flavorful! The savory pepperoni had the right crispiness to the bite and the spicy sausage added so much legit foodie flair to the entire pie. The bacon was chewy but great quality, and the cheese was just the right amount to cover the crust so you'd get a nice ratio of gooey goodness in every bite. The tomato sauce was probably my favorite part, as you could really taste the tomatoes. The crust was fine, but not my favorite (and I normally eat everyone else's leftover crust at a a pizza joint). There was quite a bit of oil, so I used the napkins to dab some off each slice. I mean, this was a pork-loaded pie, so that was to be expected. Definitely not health food! I didn't like that we had to eat on paper plates. These aren't the nice sturdy kind, but those super flimsy ones that just can't stand up to any kind of food. Even worse, all the grease from the pizza completely soaked through the thin paper. We weren't sure if we had to clean up after ourselves when we were done, so we asked a friendly barkeep. She said they take care of it, which is cool. I told her how much I loved the pizza, and she was so gracious and kind and said how much she hoped to see us back again soon. I realize a place like this may be out of a lot of people's comfort zones, especially if you're a tourist. But if you like to support truly local, and totally rad businesses, go to The 4th Horseman for pizza. If you're sensitive to loud music and don't like to scream through dinner, order it to go. This would be a solid 5 star rating if not for the volume.

Ask the Community - The 4th Horseman

Is it typically busy on Wednesday nights? I wanted to come in on the 29th for my birthday and was hoping to pull some tables together if it isn't too busy!

I went on a Sunday around 5pm and it wasn't packed but there were enough free tables to pull together. It depends how many are planning to be there for your party.

Do they have fountain sodas,or just cans and bottles?

We always have an extensive selection of commonly found and craft sodas in bottles and cans. We do not offer fountain soda.

What are the ingredients in the cauliflower crust? I tried calling, and no one answered the phone.

    Do they allow kids here?

    No, it's a bar, 21+ only

Is there any gluten free options?

I’m pretty sure they (at least at one point) had a cauliflower crust option.

Is there a happy hour and, if, so what's "happy"?

You are. When you get a buck off slices and drafts until 6pm Mon-Fri. Cheers!

A reviewer mentions they use sourdough crust. Is this true?

    Yup.

    Gluten free crust?

    Yup. Cauliflower crust

Do you have brunch? Do we have to reserve?

Do you guys have cauliflower crust?

    They do offer cauliflower crust!

Do you guys offer gift cards?

    Yup

Do they have non alcoholic beverages?

    Sodas, waters, teas, and coffee!

Do they have gluten free pizza?

As of September 2020, there is a cauliflower crust available by request, it is 12".

Is this place kid friendly for a baby?

No. You need to be 21 to enter even if you have an adult with you. The bar/pizza place is mostly for adults who want to go out and chill for some drinks. Anyways, the restroom might creep the kids out! I was creep out myself.

Is open to any age or only 21 and up?

    21+ only

Do you sell pizza by the slice and do you offer specials?

    yes each slice is $5.00

    Are there gluten free options?

As far as pizza? No. You could get some meatballs, although the sauce may have gluten.

    Gluten free pizza option?

We’re working on it, but not currently.

Still 21+? We have a baby and would love to come check out this spot!

As of now yes. Still 21+

Do you have televisions? Play sports on tv?

We have a small tv and projector that plays horror movies.

Thunderbolt Pizza in Long Beach has become my go-to pizzeria. After trying a wide range of their…read moremenu, two dishes stand out above the rest: the Pizza Margherita and the Garlic Knots. Pizza Margherita - 5/5. This is a perfect example of the care and craft that go into their food. The crust strikes a rare balance - it has that signature leopard-spotted char and slight floppiness you'd expect from a Neapolitan-style pizza, but also delivers the chewiness and airy structure of a great New York-style slice. It never tips too far into being overly crispy or dry. What really sets it apart, though, is the sauce. While many pizzerias treat sauce as an afterthought, Thunderbolt clearly does not. Their tomato sauce is rich, vibrant, and juicy, with a depth of flavor that avoids being overly acidic, salty, or tannic. It enhances the pizza beautifully without overshadowing the dough, which is exactly how it should be. Garlic Knots - 5/5. - Easily some of the best I've had anywhere in LA. These are essentially bread rolls with a super chewy interior and a thin, lightly crusty exterior, served alongside their excellent marinara sauce. They're incredibly satisfying and consistently a crowd favorite. I've brought visitors from Japan, Germany, and New York, and every single one of them couldn't stop talking about these knots. My only small critique is that I wish they had used fresh garlic instead of canned, which would have taken them to an even higher level. Still, even as they are, they're outstanding. Overall, Thunderbolt Pizza delivers thoughtful, high-quality food that stands out in a crowded pizza scene. It's the kind of place you keep coming back to--not just because it's good, but because it's consistently memorable.

It paired perfectly with each other because each dish can get overwhelming after a few bites. Our son of course shared our meals but also had a side of delicious crispy fries! We ended the night with a chocolate and hazelnut gelato. Both were rich in flavors! Our wonderful server also brought out two deep friend bread filled with Nutella and that took me into a ratatouille moment! Definitely can't eat more than one if you're watching your intake. My cousin used Yelp to find a place and very methodically we found ourselves here. Parking is a challenge since street parking is limited. We also were there on Sunday, Mother's Day so I'm not sure if that played into it. We ended up parking in the neighborhood several blocks away and walked over, service dog in tow. Each of us ordered our own personal pizzas, with our own unique requests. Bruschetta: Tomatoes, Garlic, seasons with Salt, Pepper and EVOO. I ordered: Spinach N' Feta Salad: Spinach, Feta Cheese, Craisins, and Crushed Candied Walnuts, with Honey Cider Vinegratette dressing. pizza: Stuffed pizza deep dish: with mozzarella cheese, and toppings, then covered with a thin layer of dough and zesty tomato sauce. I added artichoke. Overall, the salad was a favorite of mine. The pizza was 3.5/5. Maybe i was expecting Giardino's but the price hit more like Mortons. So, im going to say, 3/5 at best for overall service, quality of food, and price. Vibe: Casual, delicious, and very cheesy!

Mid week when we arrived which wasn't too crazy. There was no one on the patio which was nice as it gave us first choice for a seat...lol... Everyone was seating inside. The place itself isn't that big. You have the bar area with some bar seating. Then there's a couple of tables inside and of course the patio which is along the sidewalk. Personally I prefer sitting outside for the people watching. The staff were all amazing and very friendly. Places like that make the experiences more enjoyable. You want someone who is friendly and respectful. As we were there early, we grabbed one of the beer which they have quite a good selection on tap. There's also wine if you're not into beer. When it came time to grab some food, we were able to get a table inside. Majority of the breweries tends to serve pretty much the same things, pizza sandwiches and salads. No complaints here. Simple food goes a long way. There were a couple of us so we grabbed a few things to share. Started off with the pretzel balls with cheese dip and honey mustard and the chips with queso cheese dip. Pretzel was tasty and outdid the queso dip. Pizzas of course which were pretty big in sizes. A couple of the pizzas and a salad did four of us with leftovers. Their Hawaiian pizza was quite tasty and was finished. We also ordered one of the mushroom pizzas with an egg. It was tasty but a little on the salty side. The arugula salad was delicious. Simple but tasty. And then there was ham pizza I believe with onions and peppercini. That was also a favorite of the night. Overall, the place was quite fun. Not a big brewery and more intimate. The crowd was great and as most places are very kid and family friendly. There was couple of kids when we arrived. Service was great. Food and drinks were enjoyed and the service and staff were excellent. Street parking available along the front but also along the neighborhood.

We ordered a half and half pizza online for pickup and spent over $30 for pizza and a 4oz container of ranch. They told us it would be about 20min when we ordered so we got ready and left. We got there probably 15min after we ordered and grabbed two cokes while we waited. I tried to pay with cash and was told he might not have change to give me. I said that was ok even though it's pretty lame that you don't keep change in your register. He happened to find a very large coin bag and made me change. We were sitting right at the front and you couldn't miss us. They asked us a few times what our name for the order was and we told them the same thing every time. Finally after about 10 min they asked us for the 3rd time what our name was and then walked away. We could hear someone say "the order for Kymmy didn't leave they are here" or something along those lines. We kind of just looked at each other. The guy that rang us up came over and said, "sorry something happened to your pizza it'll be another 20min or so". At this point we had already been waiting about 15 min for the pizza. So we said ok because we were starving. One of the employees asked us if we drank wine we said no we didn't and that's why we were drinking cokes. He said, "ohh, okayyyy..." and gave us a very judgmental look. Like sir, you don't know why we aren't drinking. We also kind of figured he wanted to give us a few beverage for the mix up. But that was the end of it. We heard someone say our name and we asked if ours was ready and one girl acted like we were being impatient while waiting. Like we didn't just wait over a half hour for food. Finally our pizza was done after a total of 40 min and there was very minimal apology for the delay. We took it back to our hotel and we were so excited it smelled so amazing and it looked so good. I cannot tell you how disappointed we were when we took our first few bites. It was not that great. We had ordered pepperoni and the veggie pizza. We ate half of it because we were starving and very quickly regretted it. It made both of us super sick on top of everything else Needless to say we won't be back here and won't be recommending this place either

Tender, juicy chunks of chicken breast, simmered in EVOO, white wine, light tomato, onion, garlic, black olives & mushrooms sitting atop a bed of field greens, including radicchio and arugula, two of my favorites. Topping my salad was a generous serving of soft feta and everything was so fresh and yummy. Chelsey took care of us, was a professional, friendly delight and checked on us regularly. This turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise!!…read more My wife and I are here for a week, primarily visiting family. We're not fans of thick crust pizza, but Buono's is only a block from the Marriott Long Beach Downtown hotel where we are staying. So we decided to place an online order, and I walked over to pick it up. Week ordered a pepperoni, green pepper, and garlic pizza, and a caesar salad. It was ready in less than the estimated time. The first thing I noticed when I picked up the food. It was heavy! And when I got back to the room and took a look, wow! The salad was huge! It not only filled the plastic container, but was mounded in it with two containers of dressing. We each had a plate full of salad, and that just ate down the mound, leaving a full container for a second meal! For perspective, we ordered a caesar salad from room service in our hotel on another night. It cost nearly twice what the Buono's salad cost. And while it was good, the pricy hotel version was considerably smaller. There was nothing left over after we finished that meal. And the pizza? As I said, we usually seek out thin crust pizza. But one bite into this one changed my mind! The texture and taste was incredibly good! I'm not going to attempt to describe it, but it was far better than I expected it to be. It vaulted Buono's up our mental chart of best pizzas we have ever eaten. Buono's was not busy on this Monday evening. I hope that's not typical, because this pizza is very, very good. And we'll be having leftover pizza for lunch today, and the next round of salad for dinner along with a sandwich or something from room service. My advice. Give Buono's a try. I doubt very much that you will regret it.
