i had a weird customer service experience months ago and had emailed them - they did apologize but blamed a lot on the employee. i also got another email update saying they hired a new staff for the cashier. i did not need to know lol the staff continues to be ill-informed or just couldn't hear me well? i asked if the soft serve was in a cone, and they had answered - yes - and when i got it - it was in a cheap plastic cup. when i asked about it, the cashier said - oh i wish.... the part that i'm befuddled by the most is the price of their soft serve sans cone. i get that it is straus creamery soft serve but the price of it is absolutely astronomical. i paid 9.36 or something before tip. with tip it was 10.86. i had this soft serve at other places and it's much reasonably priced. i think skechers food spot sells it for $ 4 WITH A CONE. theirs is also straus brand. the dipped cone at win-dow burger is 5.50 and comes in a cone. granted theirs is probably more processed.. but with soft serve, the machine does the churning and you get the soft serve in liquid form in a jug from the supplier. so why am i being charged this? not to mention the listed price says 5.50? 6.50 on your menu. i def asked the staff and he just brushed it off as - yea it's pricey but the prices must have gone up. i can get a whole pint of ice cream from mcconnell's for 9.99. milk shake that is spun upon ordering is 10 something at van leeuwan. price just does not match up. i'm honestly annoyed that i paid that much for soft serve. update: heavy handed - a smash burger joint up in la, also sells straus creamery soft serve. with cone. their's is 5.50. this is definitely not competitive pricing but price gauge. read more

Speak Cheezy never cease to amaze me! It's been a while..we were watching a lot of pizza reviews on YouTube and said we need a good slice of zaaa! Well we had a delicious, crispy and flavorful pie here. Hopefully their New Haven style becomes a permanent pie on the menu. Flavor punch and crisp factor are given a 9.3 and the Cesar salad was really fun! They made these cute croutons with toasted cheese and the dressing was yummy! Not overpower and the right amount of everything. I'd definitely come back and order the exact same thing. They have an ice cream sandwich we have to try next time we order! Also hoping they make dog biscuits at some point. So many people walk their dogs around the neighborhood.. would be fun to order those at the window too. Good pizza, but service could be better. I once ordered a pizza that they forgot to make, then lied about it, and then finally made and gave it to me for free (glad for that at least). Had to wait an extra 30 minutes that time. Most recently they underestimated the wait time and I had to wait 10 more mins (not that big of a deal) while I had guests waiting at my house for dinner in the meantime. read more

Went for a casual lunch on a Tuesday to check out the newer pizza place in Long Beach. We parked on the street (non-metered). The outdoor sign proudly declares the sourdough crust, so we knew we needed to try that. It's a smaller space, with the kitchen/oven in the back. You place your order first and then pay. There are a few tables inside and outside if you want to eat-in, but as expected, most people were ordering carry-out. It's a small menu. Besides different types of pizza, they have chicken wings. They don't have any clear signage on the price. Sodas are in cans and bottles in the nearby beverage refrig. They did have many different types of pizza pre-built, ready to be served as slices...so we went with that and decided to eat-in. They have a pretty large selection of prebuilt pizzas, ready as slices. Bloomdale, Truffle Shuffle, and Brooklyn Bee were the speciality pizzas along with Cheese and Pepperoni...built as New York Style. They also had Pan Pizza (maybe going for Detroit Style) by the slice as well. Everything was cut up into 1/8. We ordered three pieces to share: 2 pepperoni slices (one NY and one pan) and one Truffle Shuffle. The folks working there are super friendly: you place your order and pay. They will then take the slices to the back to be reheated in the oven. It came out pretty quickly. They do make good pizza...charred and crispy crust, with plenty of toppings. The pan style really showcased the sourdough, and it was airy and delicious. That being said, I think we would order a whole pie next time to be more value. With one can of soda and tip, the meal came out to be around $26, which is expensive for 3 slices. read more

I've seen a lot of reviews online and social media saying this is the best pizza in Long Beach so finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. Kind of pricey for pizza (the main reason why I haven't gone), I ordered a Margherita pizza which was mostly just sauce and dough. The dough is also very thick and not a pleasant chewy. As another review said.. with cheezy in the name, I would have preferred a little more cheese on my pizza. They don't give condiments but you can buy Parmesan cheese which is an added cost. I also ordered a Caesar salad which was the better of the two. I got the half salad since the full was out of stock (?) they also said they were out of croutons but also somehow were able to find croutons so I appreciated that. For the price, I expected a lot more but it's just alright. I would probably just order from Little Coyote next time I want a fancy pizza. read more

For having the word Cheezy in it's name none of the slices were cheezy. I guess it's a descent place for the locals but it's worth driving out of your way for it. A neighborhood classic. Long Beach and greater LA has several (great) options to choose from when it comes to pizza. Speak cheesy is a contender for a great pizza spot. I've come several times to try whole pizzas, slices, their unique spicy honey sauce (don't knock it til you try it) and their delicious wings. This is always a hit and never a miss. The service is speedy and they offer delivery! There are a few seating options indoor and outdoor which can be very convenient if, like me, you live in the area and would like to enjoy a delicious slice. I highly recommend both their garlic parm and buffalo wings. Bonus points: I came pretty close to closing and they offered us a free chocolate chip cookie. So the first time I tried this place it was for the collab pizza between speak cheesy and Shlap Muan. I want to start this review by saying it is really cool to see that type of collab and lifting each other up! But I didn't want to write a full review until I had sampled one of their every day pizzas and all I can say is wow. Today I got the "LBC" pizza which comes with Mozzarella, pepperoni (the good spicy kind), house fennel sausage, ricotta cheese, oregano and parmesan cheese. The flavor was off the charts, the sauce was light and sweet and definitely not overpowering or super acidic, the pepperoni and sausage was delicious and the ricotta added a nice creaminess and complemented everything else. And let's not forget the crust, a nice thin sourdough with the toppings and a great edge to it! I ordered the pizza for pickup and it was ready to go when I got there, both the night of the collab and today the staff were super friendly and the service was excellent. The restaurant itself has a couple tables inside and a side window they sell shaved ice from. I still need to make it down there when they have the Detroit pizzas but regardless I will definitely be back! read more

I found this place online, and read so many amazing reviews I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Margherita and Vodka pies and was sadly disappointed. Both pizzas were bland...absolutely no flavor. There was such a thin layer of sauce unevenly spread on both pizzas, and some parts of the pizzas had no sauce at all, which may be why both were flavorless. Outrageously overpriced for what you get, and yes, prices are higher when you order through Uber Eats, yet $56 for two pizzas? I want to be fair to this establishment and order in-person to try their food freshly made, but the price you pay at the pizzeria is not far off from what you pay if you order delivery. To be fair, we did order our pizza through Uber Eats, which may have impacted the quality of the food; however, I've ordered frozen pizza from Keste Pizza, a pizzeria in New York that delivers nationwide, and that pizza was amazing. I doubt I will try this place again, although I am tempted to try it in-person just in case this was a rare mishap on their part. If I do try it again, you can expect an updated review. read more

This is what we got: Sausage neat, sorta spicy and packed full of flavor! Heavy on the toppings and the sauce, definitely a unique combination and pie! Definitely one of my favorites but man did it get spicy towards the end. Did not need to add any additional hot sauce! Second was the LBC, which had pepperoni and sausage with some delicious ricotta drops on it. Super flavorful sauce, thing crust, and my favorite cupped pepperoni! I have mixed feelings about my experience there. On one hand the pizza was pretty good. I like that you can also get slices, though they are kept out at room temp with no cooling or heating elements to keep it in a safe temp. But when we got there, pretty soon after they opened, the store was kind of dark so hard to tell if they were open or not. They had only one half salad in stock, not sure what that was about. How can you be sold out of salads right when you open? They weren't offering shaved ice either. Good for pizza. Not great for everything else. We are big fans of Speak Cheezy! We love the sourdough crust. It's delicious and has a slightly chewy consistency. Every time I've been there, their service has been excellent. I usually order on-line for pick-up. The first time, our order was 15 minutes late - but we were acknowledged, apologized too and offered ice cream while we waited. It's a tale of two experiences neither of which is bad. My partner and I are from Michigan originally and love "Detroit Style" pizza, but only had it in the Detroit area. We got word that Speak Cheezy has Detroit Style pizza and since we had time available over the end of year holidays, we decided to check it out. It sounded like we got lucky because one of the counter people said they only sell it Thursdays after 4pm. A specific day is not specified anywhere, but I'd call to double check if it's not z Thursday. Regardless, DETROIT STYLE PIZZA IS ONLY AVAILABLE AFTER 4pm at a total of 24 pies. I'D CALL IF YOU WANTED DETROIT STYLE SPECIFICALLY. If you dine in the seating is tight and a bit limited so I gave that about 3 stars. We arrived about 2:30 on a Thursday so decided to wait til 4pm to get the Detroit Style. The pizza is sold by the slice but I think you can order 4-piece pies anytime - except for Detroit Style - and a lot of people came in for take out (lol). Any ingredients you like should make you happy. I chose pepperoni and a cheese slice. My partner tried a couple of pieces with all sorts green leafs and cheeses and she was happy. I was too as the slices were pretty thick and the pepperoni was great like a take out pizza should be without much grease. The pieces of pizza seemed pretty pricey - I think it was $8 a slice but they were good thick slices. The Detroit Style was to-go and was a bit pricey at $26 or so for 4 slices. The slices were thick, they had that great char and caramelization along the pan edges making a wonderful crust. When hot, it's a bit of a letdown in comparison to my Buddy's memories. However, if you let it cool a bit and sit the sauce oxygenates a bit and becomes a wonderful pairing with their sourdough crust. Add your favorite beverage and while not Buddy's, the sourdough crust elevates the experience to be worthy of comparison. Takeout is probably a 4.5 star experience. Staff was friendly enough and helpful. Remember, this is Long Beach and while not West LA, parking can be tedious. We found parking in the back, but others looked on the street and at 4-5 pm there was enough turnover to make it work well enough. read more

Their tie dye pizza is so good!! As close as you can get to a perfect pizza. Everything works so well together, from the creamy spicy vodka sauce, to the pesto and fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. It's even great when reheated. The garlic cheese bread has a great dough texture and yummy cheese and garlic mixture. Speak Cheezy was recently named the one of the best pizza places in America by the Washington Post...that's a great honor! So, I decided to check it out.... This is a cute, little vintage shop on the corner of Termino & Fourth Street. It was a bit past lunchtime, but they were still doing a bustling business. I opted to try one thin crust and one thick crust slice. The pizzas in the case all looked delicious. I decided to go with pepperoni and the Thai Basil. The sourdough crust on the thin crust pepperoni was excellent! And all the flavors were delicious. ( I will mention that there is a hint of spice to the sauce- not a bad thing, but if you are sensitive to heat, you should inquire when ordering). The second slice was the thick crust basil. I loved the toppings, all the flavors so perfect. The crust was very good, but the thin crust was a real winner for me. The owner and staff were really great. No problem getting the slices warmed up. We ordered this pizza to our hotel room. It was so good. The sour dough crust was so light and tasty. Sauce and cheese were excellent and the pepperoni had just the right amount of spice. Even though our hotel was 20 min away from the restaurant, it arrived hot. . It was a perfect pizza. I saw some off reviews but I'm not sure how this could be the same place. Heard on the news this was one of the best pizzas in America. As a local, I was pretty shocked. I went to try it for myself. The place had plenty of parking, I parked on the street but they also have a lot. I came pretty late during lunchtime and there weren't that many options of pizza by the slice. I ended up getting just the cheese. I thought it was really good, especially the dough cause they used sourdough. But I did find it really pricey though. That person was done and I was waiting to be greeted however the cashier skipped me and provided a customer who had just walked in service before me. This place deserves nothing less than a 5-star review. I have now gone twice and it has been incredible each time. The crust is sourdough. It is absolutely to die for. So much so that I can't get myself to throw any of it out (I'm personally not a die hard crust eater). But it's that good! The vodka sausage is my personal favorite. Absolutely incredible. Can't describe it, just get it. So many flavors. The sauce was aromatic and sausage was juicy. Yum, yum yum! Then I tried the carbonara and the Barbie girl. The carbonara was incredible, and absolutely a carbonara pizza with all key ingredients. Lastly, the Barbie girl was also delicious. The goat milk ricotta was incredibly light and the pink trevisio added a nice texture and interesting twist. I haven't chosen to eat in yet but the inside is nice. The pizza is always at least five minutes early when you order pickup (at least in my experience). And the front of house is super friendly.
