My family and I have been coming here for years. It's one of the only restaurants in Modesto with a good salad bar. We visited last Sunday 9/5 to celebrate my moms birthday and boy did we regret it. I ordered my usual; Malibu chicken and steak with a baked potato and my brother ordered his usual; smoky bacon burger. We both ordered our meat medium rare and we thought everything was great until we got home a couple hours later. I started to feel a slight stomachache which slowly progressed to the worst cramps of my life! My brother had the exact same symptoms and we both spent all night vomiting and in so much pain that I honestly wanted to go to the ER. It's been a few days now and we can only eat soup and oatmeal because our stomach is still not 100%. I emailed corporate and all I got was an apology email. Really?! What good does that do me? How about a refund or even partial refund? There were 7 of us in my party that evening so dinner was not cheap. It's just sad to see what once was our favorite place to dine as a family go downhill like this. read more

Sizzler is a hidden gem! The salad bar is $12.99 for adults and $6.99 for kids. It has so many options: salad, soup, taco bar, soup, chicken wings, onion rings.... And then dessert too! Our waitress was good, and they don't rush you out of there. We'll definitely be back! read more

Tried the salad bar now that it's back. Price is higher and you get less. You have to wear huge, ridiculous looking gloves that are almost impossible to keep on - really? They couldn't buy normal latex gloves? Salad bar is missing things they used to have - kidney beans, sunflower seeds, cheese, etc. Only fresh fruit was watermelon (and not much of it). No whipped cream for the pudding and no ambrosia. Still have the taco bar, but some weird beans, no guacamole, no cheese, etc. There were some dried out chicken nuggets (no sauce to dip in) and some mini corn dogs, and 4 soups to choose from (the chicken noodle was congealed and looked disgusting) and some were not labeled. Only (runny) vanilla soft serve (chocolate was out of order). For that you pay $17 and they charge a surcharge on top of that "to keep their employees working" I was told. All in all, very disappointing. If I'm going to spend nearly 40 bucks for lunch for two, it's got to be better than that!!!! read more

This is my third time dine in Sizzler since I my moved to Modesto. Last two trips salad bar was not fresh and soups too salty! This time food was exceptionally good BUT!! PROs: Sizzler's salad buffet is my favorite, this trip salad bar nice and fresh. Soups were hot, delicious and not salty. Tacos, fried chicken wings were fresh and crispy...except no spaghetti and meat balls! Manteca Sizzler serve it. CON: Soup station ran out of soup bowls, so I told the waitress and I was told it was coming! My girlfriend and I We stood by the station with other guests waiting for bowls.... ten minutes went by, still no bowls!! My girl friend and I were going to use the bowl for ice cream and desserts, we did not want to block the traffic, we ended up used a dinner plate for our ice cream, so did other guests!!! Why can't the server just bring a few out for the immediately need, instead waiting for the whole trays!! So, on star deduction for lack of customer service. read more

On May 10th I placed an order on DoorDash which Sizzler confirmed. When the dasher arrived the order wasn't ready so it was placed back in the original status and another dasher was assigned. The order was more than 1 hour late and when I called the restaurant to find out what happened they said now that they have indoor seating and they are busier when orders come in they just put them on pause and when things slow down then they start the order. So the times expected for your order to be delivered is not accurate nor did they seem to care. My husband is a diabetic and needs to eat at certain intervals and therefore adding an extra hour to the delivery time did not help the situation. Maybe next time Sizzler pauses an order they think twice. But at this moment I have no intentions of ordering from them ever again! read more

This used to be our favorite place to eat. Hadn't been in a while. After Modesto christmas parade were hungry an decided to go here. Big huge disappointment. I got the steak an lobster dinner 25.00 will say it was good but asked to add on a salad wanted to charge me 6.99 more Yeah dont think so My daughter got the salad bar which is her favorite . She ate about salad an few other things which were all dryed out an no flavor the broccoli cheese soup OMG was soooo nasty I tried it an spit it out nasty flavor. This place has gone down very bad. Welllll it's my first time here and I gotta say this food is petty. The salad bar is the only good thing that is special here, but who wants to drop a mortgage payment for a salad. Like seriously? I had a coupon so we went to Sizzlers. Loved their salad bar and they had some of the best chicken on the salad bar. I just wish we had made room to try their soups. I really liked the way there was someone cleaning the salad bar and checking to make sure it stayed clean and well stocked. Keep those coupons coming. read more

What a disappointment! My husband likes the Sizzler mostly for the salad bar. We were coming home from our cabin and he wanted to stop in for dinner. The person (Hector R. ) who took our order at the register and then seated us (what a stupid system) never once smiled or was very interested in what we had to say. I wanted six shrimp, not 12. But to get six I had to have the salad bar. I think I told him three times I wasn't interested in the salad bar and 12 was okay as my husband would eat some too. He just couldn't get it. He was slow and unfriendly. My husband ordered 'hand cut salmon' with rice pilaf. I am not exaggerating (under-xaggerating ?) his piece of salmon was less than one inch thick and two inches long. He had about 1/3 cup of rice with it. The crispy shrimp were tasteless and greasy. I asked for tarter sauce but didn't eat it as it appeared old. I ate three of the twelve shrimp. My husband ate two. By the time we made it home (10 minuets after leaving) I was sick. And just another note: As we were sitting there, an extremely large gentleman and his wife were seated next to us. It was all he could do to squeeze (obviously uncomfortably) into a booth. Should he have asked for a table--sure. But I think he was too embarrassed to ask to be moved. A truly attentive, cued in staff would have unobtrusively noted his size at check in and seated him where he--their guest--would be comfortable. Tacky. Not coming back. read more

I always have a pleasant experience when I go to this sizzler! It may be because I always ask for my favorite server Jessica's section! She always recognizes us and is quick to make sure we are well taken care of. Refills our drinks even before we've had a chance to see we needed one. The Salad bar is one of my favorites I love that there is hot food included with the salad bar so I get to enjoy the delicious soups and chicken wings without an additional charge. I went to Sizzlers today because I was to lazy to drive anywhere else. And too my amazement I received excellent service and the food was good. I avoided the taco stand though, as the shredded beef looked a little dated. The rest of the food tasted good and was fresh. I went in at 11AM so that may have been why the food was so fresh. My goal was to eat salad or possibly the all you can eat salad. But after comparing all your can eat salad against an 7.99 entree with all you can eat salad the entree was the better way to go. I ate a third pound burger with steamed broccoli and I found that part of the meal very satisfying. There was so much food that eating my all you can eat option for my salad was way too overfilling so I took some small portions of the rest of the dishes just to see if the food tasted like crap. Well the rest of the food didn't taste like crap so that is why I am giving the place 4 stars. By the way the all you can eat salad comes with taco bar, chicken wings, greek salad, spinach with cranberry salad, toppings, three types of soups, desert, endless drinks, etc... Yes, the salad bar option is a barf load of food. So for you eater/purgers you will be in oink oink heaven. When in Rome do like the Romans, when in Sizzlers eat like a Roman. read more

Always love coming here with the parents, as this is there favorite place to come and enjoy a fresh meal and some entertain music, that is if you don't mind oldies rock and folk music. I personal don't mind it, but the could make a bigger desert bar. I enjoy there ice cream milk cones and done of there other deserts. Love there salad bars, as they have great salads and all the fixing that you can pile on top of your salad. There soups are as tasty as can be, avid hardy. This is an American Icon, thankfully, at this location, they take care of the customers and they cook the food correctly. We have gone to this location on numerous occasions when we head home to Nevada from the bay. Sometimes, we even have the same waitress, and she is always nice and she always takes care of us. The food here is not spectacular, but it is fresh and the salad bar is well taken cared of, and the food is always served hot and cooked to our liking, especially the steaks. read more

A Sizzler is a Sizzler is a Sizzler, consistent with their all you can eat salad bar and moderately friendly staff. For the most part they keep a fairly clean ship and offer some tasty items in their all you can eat bar. My favorite items are the build your own salad, wings and of course dessert area. I don't know what they do to those wings but they are very very addicting. All in all it's a solid place for a decent meal but not good for the waistline, just sayin. read more

Sizzler's been dead to me a long time due to subpar food and poisoning. Now, If the food were decent, I'd have given it a second chance. And usually I'd try to be all enthused and positive, but this is so Perko's, McDonald's, Olive Garden or Red Lobster to me. If I pay X amount for food, I'd prefer to not be convulsing over a toilet bowl puking. Especially if the food isn't even half way decent and the establishment has enough for a commercial spot. It's all about expectations people! Not a mom and pops and not tasty. So therefore it get's my first one star. We visited Sizzler on Dale Road yesterday at lunchtime. We had the all you can eat rib let's special for $10.99. The food was served to us with very generous portions and was very hot. Everything was very good. Our server, Nansay, was excellent and took excellent care of us throughout the entire dining experience. Her uniform was clean and neatly pressed. My family hadn't been in the Sizzler habit for quite a while, but after a couple of recent positive experiences we're fans again. The service is competent, the food is actually good and the prices are great for what you get. I wasn't too impressed with this Dale Road outlet some years back, but this location has definitely turned around. Modesto is just the right size that we just have one of each of the major chains, so it's nice to know that now we have a "good Sizzler." read more

Salad bar was really fresh (unlike some of the other Sizzlers I have been to around Sacramento). They had a Tuscan Caesar Salad with eggs and crunchy garbanzo beans. It was better than the salad I built for myself. The salad bar also comes complete with 3 different types of soup, a taco bar, fried chicken wings, onion rings and mac-n-cheese. There was also soft-serve ice cream w a few toppings and new salted caramel cheesecake shooters. 2 lunch salad bars and 2 sodas plus a $6 tip came out to a total of $33.50 read more

Horrible customer service to two elderly women in line ahead of us. He was yelling at them when the questioned why a steak, hamburger and salad were $70. He continued yelling at them when they told him never mind and walked away. One lady said to the other "this is bs*" He began yelling at them again. Told them not to use profanity at him. I told him he was out of line and rude and she wasn't talking to him. My adult son and I looked at each other and said "no way" and told the guy he wasn't getting our money either. We walked out with the ladies and apologized they were treated so bad. He then yelled at them to never come back, they were banned permanently. Dude needs to get over himself. They lost about $150 in 5 minutes because of his bad behavior. Will never go there again. Went to Texas Roadhouse and had excellent service and food. I did not get the man's name but when describing him to someone who frequents this establishment, it appears as if he is the manager which makes it even worse read more

For 10 bucks, you get salad bar (as with all Sizzlers) and this one has the standard stuff (veggies and taco bar with ground beef and pork, necessities in my opinion) plus good extras like mac n cheese, bread pudding for dessert, and some other items (that I actually avoid for the sake of steering clear of heart failure) but if I wanted to scarf down some food, this would be the place to do it. read more

Terrible customer service. Tried to cancel the add on Salad Bar because they charged $13.49 after my wife and I wanted to share $22 steak and they wanted to charge full price for the Salad. I told them I would like to refund mine and not eat, manager originally said okay. But she came back and said they still charged my wife the $13.49 because we were sharing the steak. We didn't even finish the steak. Ridiculous...who eats $13 worth of salad when they order a steak? 26 years ago my dad took me to Sizzler for my 16th birthday after I went to pass my driving test for my license and it was one of my favorite memories. My wife had never been so I thought it would be a great experience to take her. However, this is now a bad memory and it overshadows the experience of 26 years ago and we will never be back. read more
