Came here at 2:50 pm on a Sunday. When we entered, no one in the front. The Hispanic guy in the bar who was working there saw us but ignored us while not serving anyone but moving things around. Another Akitaca employee (young white dude with dark long hair) was cleaning a table near the host area and also ignored us. My wife asked him if we should seat ourselves and he said to wait for someone. After several minutes, a waiter came to us and said to take a seat in the wait area til a waiter/waitress is ready. After another 5 minutes (15 mins wait), we decided to leave since there was clearly a lot of tables and didn't want our business. Heading now to Bag O Crab. First start off this place is hidden not only is their service fantastic but their drinks are top-notch and the food is superb. I recommend this place highly they never disappoint. Sauces are made from scratch delicious the crisp on the fish fantastic. Their chicken tenders are phenomenal. Not frozen delicious. We've been coming here for years, bringing friends and family, bragging about how good it is! We've noticed that it seemed to be going a bit downhill but hoped for some improvement every time we came. This visit today was just too much though. The music was turned up so loud that it was distorted. We asked our waiter if it could be turned down just a bit and he said he would, but then we watched him just go about his regular work and it was not addressed. Then a song came on that was explicit... I mean, all the words. Every bad word you could think of plus explicit content, talking about what the singer wanted to do with a girl... you get the idea. We were trying to have a nice dinner with our 2 daughters aged 9 and 14. It was completely inappropriate. We asked the waiter to please change the song. He said he would talk to the manager. He didn't talk to anyone. We saw. After the song ended he came over and said they changed it. They didn't. It just ended. The music that followed was all in Spanish so no more bad words, at least that we knew of, but if course as we were leaving the song was all about the B word! Like really?? They're are kids, and ours weren't the only ones. Now for the dinner... food was decent, the portions were smaller than they used to be, and unfortunately my crab was overcooked. The restaurant stopped giving out bibs... which we didn't know until after we ordered... and it you've eaten at a bag of crab you know stuff gets messy!! My family and I have been here 3 or 4 times. We come here mainly for myself and my son. They have options like really great wings for those who don't necessarily like or want seafood and may be a +1 to someone who does. They offer a good variety when it comes to their combos and what you can create, with really hard to beat prices. I really wanted to like this place based on others' reviews, but unfortunately, it didn't hit the spot for me. The location is easy to spot and has access to a lot of parking. The hostess/cashier was available at the desk when you entered. He was very nice and professional. The food, however, was not what I had expected. I ordered shrimp without head, mussels, sausage, bread-bowl clam chowder, rice, and garlic noodles. The garlic noodles were probably the best thing, and the Cajun fries tasted good. Everything else was mediocre. I ordered two different sauces: lemon pepper and Cajun sauce for one bag, then the house special for the other. There was no difference at all. The house special had no hint of garlic and no visible pieces of garlic like other seafood boil locations. The clam chowder was also nothing special. Although the bread bowl itself was soft and the soup was hot, I felt the clam chowder was way too basic and more watery than a thick consistency. Above all else, I felt the prices for the food were much higher for this area. They do have a bar. And the main menu showed they offer happy hour. I have seen this restaurant on tiktok so I was very excited to make a reservation when it came to the day of my birthday dinner I was 30 minutes early to said reservation the service was not great the waitress took forever to get our drinks, when I asked for the utensils another waitress had to bring it to me because our waitress was just way too bothered to even be on our table it was my birthday dinner so I was obviously dressed in my birthday stuff I also brought my own birthday cake and nobody sang me Happy Birthday. My Mom went to this place today with her seniors group for a nice lunch. Apparently the waitress misheard or made a mistake and one of my mom's friends ordered a half pound of shrimp and was given a pound. This is a cool spot when you're craving seafood. There is plenty of parking all around, front entrance faces the Taco Bell, what we thought was the main entrance (facing Mister Car Wash) was closed off. We came on a weekday evening and there was plenty of seating inside with only a few occupied so service was very quick. The decor is simple but nice, we sat in one of the booths, but the bar top at the bar is worth checking out, the glitter caught my eye walking by! I like that they serve a side of rice with the orders, it was sooooo good with a bit of the juice from the crab boil poured over. But we probably won't go back unless they change their music playlist and turn down the volume. The music was definitely geared towards one specific listening group and waaaay too loud. We started with oysters on the 1/2 shell & onion rings, then ordered the bucket with shrimp, king crab legs and sausage with rice & hush puppies on the side. Not only was our waitress super sweet but also gave suggestions (we had never gone to this type of restaurant before). We ordered cocktails and one was enough- bartender is a heavy pour! I really love the food, some servers are better than others but that's anywhereyou go. The only problem I have with this restaurant is that the music is too loud and I don't care for the type of music. Most of the time it's hip hop or rap and a lot of the times the artist is dropping f-bombs or the n-word or whatever I would prefer the music to be lower and just instrumental. Decided it was too crowded to eat comfortably and canceled the order of food we placed and went out to our car. I paid my first visit to Akitaca Crab in Modesto today with a group for a birthday celebration, this was the worst experience I've ever had in my entire 71 years. The customer service was extremely poor. Our server, (Bianco Lo) was clearly overworked due to understaffing, and the manager's behavior was even worse. The food itself was bland, which I was willing to overlook, but the real issue came when the bill arrived. I ordered 1/2 lb. of crab and 1/2 lb. of shrimp. The bill incorrectly showed that I ordered 1 lb. of shrimp and included hush puppies I never ordered. When I questioned it, the server disputed what I had ordered and then went to get the manager because she didn't know how to correct it. The manager came over and claimed he "heard" me order 1 lb. of shrimp. I told him that was not true because I never ordered that amount. He then said he needed to take eight shrimp back since I had been served a pound. I asked how he knew it was a pound, and he said they weigh it. I removed eight prawns from my bag and placed them on a used plate, but I have no idea what he did with them afterward. When he returned with the adjusted receipt, it was still wrong--the hush puppies were still on the ticket. He finally corrected it and brought a new one, but at no point did he apologize or acknowledge the inconvenience. Instead, he implied I was lying and treated me with complete disrespect. I have never had a manager ask for food back in order to adjust a bill. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. A manager should never verbally attack a customer, especially when the restaurant is at fault. No apology, no accountability--just taking my money. read more
