I been wanting to try this place for a long time. I can't believe it took me this long to try them out. I was very pleased from start to finish. The service was excellent, the food was amazing and I was ultra impressed with the waitress explaining we can get gravy made with no pork and also for next time to ask for our home fried potatoes to also be cooked in non pork fat. ( I told her We don't eat pork ) It is so hard to find a place that offers no pork in their gravy. They went the extra mile to make us special non pork gravy on the spot, amazing. Also they fried our home fried potatoes in non pork oil, thats the extra extra mile of care and service and attending to a customers needs, I was completely satisfied. I cant wait to try more of the menu. Everything we ordered was good. The cinnamon bun was so good, I would go there just for that alone, yummy and fresh and moist and soft and so much frosting and yes I said and alot, AND? Haha Pro tip: if you dont eat pork ask for them to cook your potatoes in non pork oil and if you want gravy ask them to make non pork gravy. You have to mention it to your server, dont forget. Now go & enjoy, you can thank me later. Make reservations if possible or go on a slow day, the weekends are packed but worth the wait. They have alot of seating inside.

I have left wonderful reviews in the past for this place but I have to share my experience…read morerecently. My boyfriend and I have been to Standard Pub several times during the day, and every visit has been fantastic. We've enjoyed the food, drinks, and even had the pleasure of speaking with the owner on multiple occasions. The service was always welcoming, and the food was consistently phenomenal. Because of those great experiences, we decided to bring some friends on a Saturday night. We arrived around 7:30 PM, and the atmosphere looked promising. There appeared to be a DJ setting up, and the crowd seemed excited for a night of music, food, and drinks. Unfortunately, our experience that evening was completely different from what we had come to expect. We ordered food and drinks, and while our server wasn't outright rude, he seemed uninterested in providing the level of service we had previously received. As the night went on, things became increasingly odd. Shortly after ordering another round of drinks, while our drinks were still full and we had just received them, the server approached our table and asked if we were finished. My boyfriend jokingly responded, "No, let me talk to your manager," and laughed, assuming the server was joking as well. The server responded, "Yeah, it's my brother," but with an attitude that left everyone at our table looking at each other wondering what had just happened. He then informed us that we needed to put a credit card on file. At that point, we had already been there for over an hour, and it seemed strange that this requirement was only being brought up then. We also noticed that no other tables around us were being asked for a card. The most disappointing part came when we received the bill. There was an additional $60 service charge added--$35 on my friends' bill and $25 on ours. Confused, we asked for an explanation. The explanations we received kept changing. First, we were told it was because my boyfriend was sitting with another group, which was completely false. Then we were told it was because the bill exceeded $100. After that, we were told it was because there were more than six people in our party, despite there only being four of us. The inconsistent explanations were frustrating and made it feel as though the staff were simply making up reasons to justify the charge. Our issue wasn't necessarily with a service fee itself--it was the lack of disclosure and the conflicting stories we were given when we asked about it. To make matters worse, the receipt also included a separate line for an additional tip. After discussing it with them and explaining that additional charges should be clearly communicated to customers, the service charge was ultimately removed. This review is not a reflection of the food, which remains excellent, nor of our previous experiences at Standard Pub. It is solely based on the service and handling of the situation during our Saturday night visit. We left feeling disappointed and confused, especially because this establishment had earned our trust through many positive visits in the past. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident and that management addresses these issues so other customers don't have a similar experience

Staff was super friendly, went out of their way to make sure the tables were tidy, and refilled drinks really quick. The restaurant is smaller than you expect it to be, but it is cozy, friendly, and not overly loud. We only had a 10 minute wait when we arrived and they were packed. Our waiter Kyle was on point, introduced himself and dropped the special of the day with gusto. If I hadn't already had a ton of carbs for the day I would have gone with it. Ended up ordering the scallops, and fried zucchini appetizers. Scallops are served almost like a soup. The sauce in the bowl was to die for. I'm thinking white wine, and lemon were the major components. It was phenomenal. Fried zucchini was super tasty and is coming home with us. I'd swear it was enough to feed 4 people. For mains, we ordered pot roast and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Wife loved the pasta and chicken. Surprisingly enough she ate it all, none to go which is super rare for her. Pot roast was fantastic. Mashed potatoes were on point, the mixed vegetables were amazing. When you get broccoli and carrots on the same plate and neither have a mushy texture it makes me happy Will definitely be back again in the future.

He was also Johnny on the spot with refills and kept checking on us. Ok now onto the food. It was delicious! Hubby had scallops as an appetizer and pot roast for his main dish. I had fried zucchini and then fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. I like my chicken on the side so I only add what I want. This place is just down from the freeway exit and is only open for lunch & dinner. If you are passing through Modesto, get off and come eat some good food. It is totally worth it!

Someone came over and took our drink orders while we looked at the menu, though the restaurant was busy it wasn't too loud, and we could easily have a conversation. My boyfriend ordered the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich with Hashbrowns & I ordered the Breakfast Combo #3 - their famous "baked here" French Toast, two eggs & choice of breakfast meat. I am extremely picky when it comes to French Toast, but this was really good, fluffy but crisp edges and a great flavor. Their portions were large, with very reasonable prices. They had a counter front ice cream bar that we did not partake in, however we may do so on our next trip. We will be back in the future.

This worked fine for us. We had our menus and drinks in a reasonable time, and had a relaxing time throughout. We both had the pulled pork sandwich along with the ice tea. My friend, whom I realized often fusses about the meals we share, was more critical. His comments were "Wrong bun, hamburger bun shoulda been an onion bun" and "How long does it take to make a sandwich?" (The wait time was totally reasonable to me.) He didn't like the potato salad (but ate it all with little time spared). He liked the meat in the sandwich, giving it a 5 out of 5. He liked the service less (I felt it was on point and just fine.) Unfortunately, my dining experience wasn't as positive. I waited almost an hour and a half for my meal, and by the time it arrived, everyone else in my party had nearly finished eating. Since it took so long, I ended up taking the food home. I did try it later, but I wasn't very impressed. That may have been because the food was cold by the time I ate it, as it sat for quite a while before it was brought to me. While I truly appreciated the manager's efforts and customer service, the long wait time and overall food experience left me disappointed.

My friend from Modesto told me about this spot, and I immediately wanted to try it. I actually planned my drive around this pit stop, which was just a short detour off the 99. I ordered a biscuit with fried eggs and dear Lord, that biscuit was amazing, and so was the jam! The fried eggs were cooked perfectly and especially delicious with the hot sauces they had to offer. My brother got an egg sandwich on a brioche bun and he still can't stop talking about how good it was. He was particularly impressed with the brioche bun. We also got the blueberry french toast to go, which I didn't anticipate traveling very well, but it did and holy shit, it was fan-freaking-tastic when I ate it that evening. I can't even fathom how incredible it must be if eaten fresh. This place was so cute inside and clearly had an intentional aesthetic direction. There was a cute outdoor seating area in the front where I could have my dog with me, which is a huge plus. The service was top-notch and the food was ready lickety-split. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I HIGHLY recommend this spot!!!

I ordered the honey walnut shrimp combination but asked for all chow mein since I'm not a big fan of fried rice for $16.31 with card after taxes. It had the right amount of batter, wasn't overcooked whatsoever and the shrimp was nice and bouncy. The sauce wasn't overly sweet or artificial tasting either! The chow mein was okay. Noodles slightly overcooked and on the verge of being mushy and as I continued eating it got extremely salty so I had to stop. Unfortunately will not be getting it again! So I ordered the #26 Mongolian beef combination that has fried rice and chow mein. The fried rice and chow mein is already premade and behind the glass counter. The chow mein had a little pork with their noodles. Lucky for me, the Mongolian beef was cooked to order and just took about 6 mins wait. To me, this is what I consider the ideal Mongolian beef. Thin beef slices that is brown in appearance with a nice glaze. It comes with tons of green onions, chili peppers and onions and topped with crispy rice noodles. Theres a nice "hot" as in flavor taste to it but not strong. It's my favorite and I feel this beats Panda Express any day. 5 stars The place probably is busier during lunch being downtown so when i picked up my order, it was close to 5 pm and wasn't that busy. Thing that I notice is their menu on the wall says $12.50 for my #26 Mongolian beef combo and when I ordered 2, the guy just used his memory to punch in $28.85 on my credit card. So sales tax is 8.88% now and when I did the calculation, it should have been less. Not sure whether they didn't update their wall menu price. But that kind of irked me since I know some places charge an added fee for using a cc (which they have no disclosure). Either way, don't rely on their wall prices if you order there in person. Door dash has this priced at $15 for pick up but i ordered it at the counter when I got there. Still, one of the better Chinese food in Modesto
