I hate to leave a bad review for such a great place but our service from Maria was very distasteful and left a bad taste in mouth. Unfortunately the manager wasn't in to speak with about the lack of customer service. We have frequented this place because the great customer service and smiles upon entering and then matching with great food choices. Upon entering was met with a very hesitant greeting but with a feeling not very welcoming even with ordering. We slayed order the crab cakes and when asked if could take back to remake was left with taste it first then let me know.. I didn't need to taste first because we could tell wasn't cooked underneath but appeared blackened on top. Very upset with myself that I cannot remember our normal waitress name I left a yelp about her month ago but will of course be back on night she's here. Staff tonight was not welcoming or pleasant. Flavorful food and the menu prices are worth it. Family went for Mother's Day; we ordered fried calamari, hummus, chicken piccata, lamb chops, and the seafood pasta. All dishes came out on time and piping hot, flavors were wonderful. Service is also great with very attentive staff. read more

Came here for dinner with a friend and had a great meal! Located just off McHenry next to the Asian Market, Papapolloni Mediterranean Bistro serves some fancy dishes with a Greek twist. The inside felt very fancy with dim lighting and tableclothed tables and booths. My friend and I decided to sit at a booth. We had to use the little table lamp to be able to read the menu lol We ordered: - Saganaki flaming cheese - This was supposed to be flambe'd tableside, but the person doing the flaming did it about 20 feet behind our booth so we missed the show. The cheese was tangy and tasted great though. - Spanakopita - about 6 cut up pieces of crispy buttery dough with spinach and cheese. Can't go wrong with this order. - Side salad with balsamic - great dressing and the veggies were very fresh - Gyro plate - tender gyro meat and the rice pilaf was pretty good! - Mediterranean pasta - creamy but felt the only Mediterranean thing about it were the kalamata olives Service was great! I called in my order to go.... the lady who took my order was extremely polite and helpful as this was my first visit! When I arrived I was greeted right away and my order was ready. The serving size for both meals I ordered was perfect. I ordered a Beef Ravioli and a Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. My goodness it was delicious! The Chicken was grilled and so flavorful. And the Beef Ravioli must of been just as tasty because we both ate every bite! Unfortunately I did get it to go and missed out on the chance to try the wine. The inside of this restaurant was so nice!! Clean and very nicely decorated, I'm looking forward to our next visit and we will definitely dine in!! Everything about this place is unexpectedly positive. I don't know if it's the location that you don't expect this place to be as elegant as it is. Been here several times and we love it. From the service, to the food, just excellent! Someone always helps you to make sure you have water and bread so you're not just waiting for the server. The attached pics are from two different visits with the wife. She loves the Spicy Grilled Chicken dish. I am the meat eater, so I tried the lamb chops once. They were cooked perfectly and delicious. A group of us spontaneously stopped in to Papapolloni's recently. There are two rooms, the dining room and a room that has a small bar in it. Both rooms were pretty nice, the dining room is dimmer than the bar room, which makes sense. Our waitress was very friendly.  The food was good. We ordered 5 dishes, shared them.  The Calamari Fritti was good, and the dipping sauce for it was great. It has just a hint of spice. The pistachio salmon had a nice sauce. If you enjoy salmon, you may want to try this. The salmon was not over cooked, moist.  We also enjoyed the Chicken Piccata, although they spell it Picatta. The lemon pepper wine sauce was great, just maybe a little too much sauce for my liking.  I was pleasantly surprised by Eggplant Parmigiana. If you want to branch out a bit, I would recommend this dish. The eggplant is breaded. The star of the show was the Seafood pasta dish. All of us chose this dish as our favorite. It was filled with shrimp and scallops, mixed in a white wine and herb and served over linguini.  If you are ordering multiple dishes, one thing to keep in mind is they all came with mashed potatoes. I am sure we could have substituted a couple out for veggies or something, just didn't realize it when ordering. I also wish they had a bit more extensive wine list, however, it was great. read more

Wifey and I stopped by in the afternoon, super nice inside, dark setting and very quiet. It was our anniversary and Mrs. picked this place. They give you seasoned bread with your meal which they warm up. My wife ordered the Chicken Marsala her favorite and I ordered the Seafood pasta dish. Unfortunately they were both too sweet for our liking and you know I review a lot of donut and bakery locations. The service was excellent which is always a plus. The wife doesn't want to try again but I think everyone deserves a second chance and maybe just those dishes were made sweet. Well, I'll see if the wife agrees. My wife and I came to your Restaurant for Dinner for the first time on Monday Evening(5/22/25). Our experience was an "A+" from start to finish! When we first walked in, we were greeted in a very friendly manner like a family member! It was very nice! These people really care about what they do and they want you to have an excellent experience so you come back. The place was festive playing Christmas Music and old school; we loved it! Old rustic vibe with a great bar as well! Our waitress and service was outstanding from start to finish! We received bread first. It was warm and melted in your mouth! It was fantastic! They bake the bread in house! They had a great Wine List, but we chose Holiday Cocktails instead. My wife had a Christmas Spritzer, while I had a Cranberry Margarita. They were very refreshing and tasty! For our Appetizer, they had many outstanding selections! We chose the Calamari. It was outstanding! They had excellent Clam Chowder and Minestrone Soups, but we chose the Greek Salad. Super fresh lettuce! Super fresh vegetables with excellent Black Olives and Feta Cheese! The Vinigrette Dressing was great as well! For our Entrees, we had Chicken Parmesan and a Beef Gyro Plate respectively. They were both outstanding! The Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Rice Pilaf, and Sauted Mixed Vegetables were all great side dishes as well! For Desert, we had Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Silk Pie respectively. This place is like a little piece of Heaven inside! The ambiance is fantastic and love the service and food to die for. It doesn't look like much from street but once you get up close enough you take in the little things that make it great. Music was so nice and Italian style that complimented the dining experience. When I pressed the waiter for a recommendation he said it again, 'everything on the menu is good". So that means the waiter staff doesn't eat at the restaurant. I stopped in today because I am a huge fan of Kabob/Mediterranean food in general. The host was very welcoming and hospitable, very nice man who was happy to chat in between ordering and giving us the main dish options. This place has great service, delicious food, and reasonable prices, all with a very pleasant white table cloth atmosphere in doors. We sat outside on the beautiful patio surrounded by ivy on a gorgeous day! I always find it odd when a restaurant combines different types of cuisine and then has a very limited selection of each type. Here it is primarily a Mediterranean restaurant but has a couple of menu choices that veer away from that cuisine .i.e. jambalaya. They had right many pasta dishes and limited Mediterranean salads which is why I choose this particular restaurant of choice. I would probably been happier if the menu stayed closer to the Kabob concept. I chose a lamb gyros wrap (other choices: beef, chicken and lamb plate). It was very good! We sampled quite a few things off the menu and they were all good. (This is why you write reviews immediately for forgetful people like myself, this is a month overdue review). This is truly a hidden gem in a strip mall! This experience was good enough for me to dine here again and again in the near future! This restaurant is capable of servicing large gathering, small romantic dinners and wedding parties. This other side of the restaurant was decorated tastefully for any event. We had a wonderful experience at lunch. I had the sampler plate of what I call Greek lasagne's and also lamb chops alacarte. A lot of food but had to try being 1st visit. All was wonderful. My wife had the Philly cheese steak sandwich which we both agreed was the best we ever had. Olivia our server was delightful and very helpful. She elevated our experience by ALOT!!! So she recommended a couple of deserts the chocolate mousse cake and a cheesecake . Both wonderful if I had to choose one I'd go with chocolate mousse cake. Considering all the food we had it was very reasonable. Portions very generous btw. Very comfortable tables and total space. I absolutely love this place. The food was very good. The bread, but the butter was extremely soft and delicious that might've been my favorite thing that I got there. The salad was very delicious too. The only thing that I would have to say about this place was that the drinks weren't very good at all. They weren't strong and they were a bit way too sweet for my liking that Environment was also very cute in the front. They had a LED sign it. It is tucked away look and from the outside it looks not that pleasant and interesting but when you go inside, it is very beautiful place.
